Is AirPlay Supported on the iPhone 3GS?

Hello,
I downloaded and installed iOS 4.2.1 for my iPhone 3GS, but I can't seem to figure out how to get AirPlay to work. I've read the Apple.com page outlining AirPlay and it shows an AirPlay button in the control bar when playing audio or video. However this AirPlay button does don't show up on my iPhone 3GS. What's the deal?

Hi I had the same problem. I updated AppleTv as well as the iphone 3gs. Then when it has all completed turn off all the connected gear-iphone, laptop/mac,router etc - then turn it all back on again and hopefully it should work. it wasn't clear to me that you will only see an airplay button when you actually try to play something rather than an app button on the main screens but maybe I did not read up about it carefully enough.

The 3GS can be updated to iOS 6.1.2 and that iOS has Arabic as one of the keyboard languages but I do not see Arabic as one of the languages for userinterface but there are some I cant read so I cant be sure. You could check by going to settings/general/international then languages

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your phone. Only if you back up manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
Do this:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your device without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the iPhone for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.

Place the Device into Recovery mode... All data / Content will be Erased.

Motorokr S9 HD and advancing songs on the iphone 3GS

My bluetooth wireless headphones (Motorokr s9HD work nice; but its buttons won't advance the songs on the iphone 3GS running 3.0
Isn't this feature availalbe on the new 3GS? Is there some reason why the bluetooth headset song advance buttons would not work, other than a headphone technical issue?

No. The iPhone does not support the MAP (Message Access Protocol) bluetooth profile.

Error 9 occurs when the device unexpectedly loses its USB connection with iTunes.
This issue can usually be resolved by performing USB troubleshooting, using a different USB dock-connector cable, trying another USB port, restoring on another computer, or by eliminating conflicts from third-party security software.

If Whatsapp is on your iPhone now and is not working, that would be a matter for Whatsapp support.
If you cannot install Whatapp due to iOS on your computer being to old, you can try upgrading iTunes to 10.6.3, if you haven't done so already, presuming your PB is running Mac OS X 10.5.8, which may allow you to upgrade iOS on your iPhone. If your computer is not running 10.5, then you'll need to find a retail copy of 10.5 and upgrade.
The last PowerBook was discontinued seven years ago, though, so it may be time to consider upgrading to an Intel-based MacBook.

Is the apple tv remote app fully functional with the iPhone 3gs?

I am thinking of getting the Apple TV so that I can stream things from my macbook pro via airplay but wanted to make sure the app on the iPhone 3gs would allow me to control it. However, I could not find an answer to this question anywhere. Anyone know if it will work fine? Thanks!

The remote app allows you to pick what media you want to play, pause, fast forward, rewind, etc. I is a remote that provides a wonderful interface to do all things related to "traditional remote control functions".
Mirroring is a function of apple TV using airplay mirroring, not a function of the remote. An apple tv will be able to mirror an Mac's display with eligible macs running Mountain Lion.
The remote app and "mirroring" are seperate things.
