I am trying to make a source system connection from BW Server to a DB2 Database running on AS/400.
pls tell me whether AIX 5L is I-Series or not

setup environment veriables correctly for java.. for example.
if using from root,
type: export JAVA_HOME=/.../.../.../ full location
type xhost + in seperate new terminal. should work.
also, use J2SDK 1.4.2.11 from below provided link...

Having trouble finding command prompt on AIX machine

I've successfully set up the server stats monitor to collect stats from iostat, vmstat etc. on a solaris box, but I'm having trouble getting the same information from an AIX machine using ssh.
-- I'm able to plink and login successfully to the aix machine
-- I've added the rsa2 key fingerprint to the registry of the windows machine where eload is installed.
Here's the top of the error message:
"Monitor configuration failure alert: monitor id=<ip address>:ds_ConsoleEngine_<ip address>_null_4.16 alert=<ip address>:ds_ConsoleEngine_<ip address>_null_4.16
(message id=console.configFailureAlert): Error returning value: host key fingerprint is....

When I scan the rest of the error message, I can see that I was successfully logged in. I have a feeling that the command prompt wasn't found.
Any suggestions?

Some additional info...
If I open a windows command prompt and use plink to login to the servers, this is what I get on solaris:
C:\Empirix\e-LoadDataCollector\bin>plink -ssh userid@solarismachine
returns a command prompt that looks like:
←]0;userid@solarismachine:~←[m←[m←[m←[Uuserid@solarismachine:~#> ←[K
The AIX box returns the following as the command prompt:

I specified ~#> as the command prompt in eLoad.

Before doing the steps said by Kanthi, you have register that system. Please follow the steps to do:
SMSY>Server>Create new system with assistant
Here you have to specify the details like System ID, Instance number etc.,
Then follow the steps:
System Landscape>other object>Specify the System ID(Which you have registered as i said in the provious step)-->select the generate key icon.

I am installing Netweaver 2004 on aix machine.
Java instance
database : maxdb
When I run sapinst , connection with it get broken in between.
Warnings and errors are as follows:

-> plz check your root values using SMITTY -> Security & Users -> Users -> Change/Show Characteristics of a User -> insert 'root' -> check parameter 'Soft STACK size' -> value should be '-1' (minus one)

Linking Issue on AIX Machine

Hi All,
I am porting C code from LINUX to AIX Machine. I am using a xlc compiler to compile my C code. I was successfully able to compile the code and generate 64 bit XCOFF format object modules.
But, i am stuck one liking issue which i am unable to resolve.
The error message thrown by the linker is like this
ld: 0711-715 ERROR: File /ade/aime_aixtesting/oracle/lib/stubs/libdl.so cannot be processed.
The file must be an object file, an import file, or an archive.
gmake: *** [ade/aime_aixtesting/pfcore/addev/bin/adpatchnew] Error 8
When i run "file" command on the file libdl.so i get
../oracle/lib/stubs/libdl.so: ELF 32-bit LSB version 1 shared obj 80386
The RDBMS Lable from which this libdl.so is picked is
/ade_autofs/ade_release_unix/RDBMS_11.1.0_AIX.PPC64.rdd/RELEASE_11.1.0.7.0
Surpirsingly, this label which is meant for AIX, contains Shared objects with ELF format instead of XCOFF.
Can AIX understand ELF Format ? any inputs will be appreciated.

Oracle client for an AIX machine

I need the client oracle 9.2.0.1 for an AIX machine.
But in the download page I don't see any link for the oracle client. There is only this

Is the client there?

Oracle doesn't offer the client as a separate download.
You need to download all 4 files (can not help it),
fire up the installer, and choose a Client install.

When I upgrade the mars to 4.3.1. I've noticed that the mars doesn't received any logs from IPS,ASA and other reporting device. But when I check ASA and IPS, i'm pretty sure that the ASA and IPS were sending syslogs alerts to mars the only problem is the mars could not receive. I can ping the IPS / ASA in the mars console but failed when i test the connectivity/discover in Web Interface.
I also execute the pnstart and pnstatus command in the CLI console.
This is what i get:

[pnadmin]$ pnstatus
Configuration error: host name does not match janus.conf::janusBoxName.
Please contact Cisco for support.

i mean how can i access complete aix machine using my normal desktop?

Hello Akhil,
You can use Telnet or SSH.
Should be a administrative user to access the system's complete resources.
If In case you are creating a user then he should be a administrative user with telnet and SSH autentication.

What the mount point for installing AS for AIX Machine?

i have a BW Server running in AIx Machine
I need to install Applicaton Server for teh existing BW Server in a Windows machine
during that process it is asking me for the profile directory.
Please let me know of how should the path be given
In that screen it istelling as /<SAP System mount Directory>/<SAPSID>/profile
the Bw server is running on the machine wiht name abcdev
The mount points are /usr/sap

I have a BW server running in AIX Machine .
Now i am installing Application Server for that BW Server(running in AIX Machine) in Windows.2003 Server.
During the installation process it is asking me for the SAP Systems profile Directory. As per my understanding it is asking me for the BW Server system's profile path.
Please tell me what should i give here.
I have even given /sapmnt/DBW/profile and tried. But it did not work. It is giving me the message Node \sapmnt\DBW\profile does not exist.

I am having a major issues to report machine -G6 series

                This is a serious customer issue that I have to report .I am Owning an HP G6 series laptop. After 7 months of purchase I am facing lots of issue with this. The system is getting stucked sometimes and the controllers of Keyboard and mouse are not working, While the time of boot up it is making big noise. All these issues I have reported to authorized service center of HP Maha electronics(Cochin).And the engineers over there observed the issue and replaced my hard disk two times. But the fact is like I am still facing the issue. Till today I have given two times to authorized HP service center (Maha electronics )Cochin. Days after the second time repair I had gone to US and I was unable to report the issue for the third time. I recently came to India and I have reported the issue in HP authorized service center (Maha Electronic)Bangalore. But by that time I came to know that my machines warrantee got over.And they neglected my request saying it cannot be done under warrantee.
                Team, Please think that I have reported the problem during the time of warrantee itself, And your engineers couldn’t able to repair it properly to me.Frankly speaking, They have kept my laptop more than weeks under their custody for observation. But they were failed to find out the root cause of the issue. The folks reading this mail might be thinking that this issue can be, Now because of damage of some other stuff, but it’s absolutely no, Why because, You folks can check the description of the problem with the laptop during my first repair visit(Check the slip’s issue’s reported description) With this serial no([Personal Information Removed]).And still they are not specific about the root cause. This was happened mainly in (Maha Electronics)Cochin. They are not specific about the issue changing all parts by parts without any logical sense.
                Folks, Act sensibly to your customer. It’s because of deep sadness I am saying these words. I was having 100% trust with your product(HP).But Now ,if anyone ask me about to which laptop to go with, I am having no words to tell them. How can I believe your engineers and give my words to my fellow beings.

Issue with Teradata access from Business Objects AIX Machine

I am using BO XI.31 which is installed on AIX 5.3 machine. I have installed Teradata driver on the machine and I have created the require ODBC.ini entry to point Teradata database. While refreshing the report I am getting below error message.
A database error occured .The database error test is (CS) "DBDriver failed ot load: /BOBJ/xi_3.1...Connectionserver/libdbd_tdodbc.so

Following information might help you to resolve the issue.
This is caused by a wrong HOME environment variable of the user that starts the BO processes.
Resolution
Check the correct path of your BO 3.1 installation and export it as HOME environment variable:
Example:
BO 3.1 installation path: /home/<bouser>/bo3.1/Enterprise12.0../...
Type in the command line:
export HOME=/home/<bouser>/boversion
You can also change this environment variable permanently if you edit the .profile file of the BO user (home/<username>/.profile), adding the above line into the file, then source it again with:
. .profile
or with a logoff/logon of the session.
Check if the path of your HOME is correct with:
env | grep HOME
Now you can run the installation setup without any error.

I tried by disabling the Java Plugin in my IE browser and open a few chart reports with no problem.
Have you actually experience problem when you do that? Like to know when will it actually have problem.
