I have an older build with an AMD Athlon 64 3200+ processor. I have been reading about Win 8.1 64 bit compatibility issues regarding certain AMD processors. My question is...
Looking at my system information under processor, it shows "cx16 CMPXCHG16b instruction" in the details. From what I have read, the problem with older AMDs is that they are missing the CMPXCHG16b instruction set. Given the info
above would it be safe to say that my processor will be able to run the 64bit version of Windows 8.1?
Any info on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Nick,
Yes, as you know, to install a 64-bit OS on a 64-bit PC, your processor needs to support CMPXCHG16b, PrefetchW, and LAHF/SAHF.

So please contact AMD support if this model meet the requirement.
I also would like to suggest you run Windows 8.1 Upgrade Assistant to check if your computer could running Windows 8.1 before you install it.

I have 1GB of RAM on my Mac MIni 1.4Ghz. I don't have any problems whatsoever running VPC with Windows XP Pro.
As for needing 2GB of RAM, your salesman is misleading you. In VPC you cannot allocate any more than 512MB of RAM for running Windows.
I've used this version of VPC on my brother's Mac G5 Dual 2.0Ghz with 1GB RAM. On both his G5 and my Mac Mini you cannot allocate more than 512MB RAM to VPC.
Also, on both machines, VPC runs as a 686 processor running at 663Mhz. I had previously believed that the speed at which VPC ran was determined by the processor and allocated memory of the host Macintosh. This is completely false. Even so, compared to the legacy AMD Athlon-powered Windows laptop that I had previously been using, VPC on the Mac Mini offers surprisingly similar performance.
Moreover, in my experience of using VPC on both my brother's G5 and my Mac Mini, somehow, my perception is that VPC is more 'fluid' in operation on my Mac Mini. Therefore, I don't think you will have any issues in running VPC on your intended PowerBook purchase.
One last point, Virtual PC is much better in its performance than when I ran SoftWindows on my previous Macintosh 8200.

Amd r7 240 compatible with e9280t

Is the AMD r7 240 graphic card compatible with my e9280t. my e9280t came with ATI 4650 card but now monitor will not wake from sleep mode only the tower does with win. 8.1 but when I ran win.7 and win.8 both tower and monitor would wake from sleep mode was told that mt ATI 4650 card is not compatible with windows 8.1

Latest version of firefox program is not compatible with windows 7

After I updated the latest version of mozilla firefox in my laptop which is a windows 7 program,it doesn't work anymore. Every time I open the firefox, the screen goes black and I can't see anything on the screen but black. And when I troubleshoot and fix the problem, it says that "COLOR SCHEMES IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH WINDOWS 7". Program compatibility is the 1.5 version or 1.0. How to fix this one? I uninstalled and already installed a new one but still to no avail the problem is still the same. Should I install the older version? Where to download the older version? No. iPods are to iTunes. Other PMPs are to WMP. You'll have to import your songs into iTunes to transfer them to the iPod. iTunes is better anyways, but thats only my opinion.

Illustrator 10 compatible with Windows Vista?

I'm looking to purchase Illustrator 10 (can't afford the $600 for CS3). Is it compatible with windows vista? I've been all over the Adobe website, but there is no information pertaining to any upgrades or FAQs on the subject.

You'll be trying to run an old version of Illustrator (now at v.13) on an operating system with which it was never tested, so all bets are off.
However, users have reported success with Illustrator versions going back as far as 8. After installation, you will most likely need to do the following:
Right-click on the Illustrator EXE file, choose properites, click the compatibility tab, and then select...
* Disable Visual Themes
* Disable Desktop Composition
* Disable display scaling on high DPI machines
It's going to be difficult to purchase a legal copy of such an old version.
Caveat emptor.
Also make sure you update to 10.0.3.

Does anyone know if the WRT54GS Wireless Router is compatible with Windows Vista? I want to remove the router from a PC running XP and move to one using Vista. Vista works with the WRT54GS. You can simply remove the cable from your old computer and connect it to your new computer. If your new computer has a wireless adaptor, you can also connect wirelessly. You would have to log on to your router to find your network key.
