Is an Apple Mail vCard Compatible with Outlook for Windows?

I would like to export about 15 Address Book records from Apple Mail as a vCard. If I send this vCard to Outlook (Windows) users, will they be able to import the various records into Outlook from the vCard I send them?

Is iCloud compatible with Outlook for Mac yet?

That is correct, Microsoft decided to make the Windows version of Outlook compatible with iCloud and to make the Mac version of Outlook incompatible.
Ask them why they did that.
While you wait for an answer you can use Mail, Contacts and Calendars (they are on your Mac) to access iCloud services.

  • How can I share my a public calendar from iCal (through iCloud) with Outlook for Windows users?

I have a public work calendar that I wish to share with colleagues in the office. No issues for those having a Mac or an iPhone, but how can I share the calendar with Outlook for Windows users?
    Thanks for the help!

    Hello ramirofromstrockholm,
The steps detailed below explain how to go about publicly share a calendar (which doesn't require that one be an iCloud user to accept).
Click the Share button to the right of the calendar you want to share, then select Public Calendar.
Note:   You can also share the same calendar privately. For instructions, see the previous task, “Share a calendar privately.”
To invite people to view the calendar, click Email Link.
Type one or more email addresses in the To field, then click Send.
The people you specify automatically receive an invitation email that includes the calendar’s URL. An invitee doesn’t need to be an iCloud user to accept an invitation to view a shared public calendar.
In the sidebar, a shared calendar has a dark Share button.
You can also resend invitations to one or more invited participants at any time.

  • Apple Mail Font Issues with Outlook

Have apple fixed this issue with fonts changing and appearing differntly when you send emails to users on Microsoft Outlook. Most of the forums have message posts from 2011 but 2 years on you would think the issue would be fixed.
I have a whole team of computer illiterate staff and can't expect them to change the font format everytime they send an email. It looks so unprofessional sending emails out like this - next step is to switch to outlook for mac - any good feedback on this, I've heard if you have high volume emails working through gmail imap accounts that it just crashes all the time?
Any help or plugins would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi Kurt,
Thank you for your response. I am fully aware of what you have just said, and I do follow this basic protocol. The 'gripe' is that it seems that when we setup our message font in preferences one is under the impression this is the font that will be sent out. I later discovered this is only my screen font, and when we compose an email this font (for instance Arial 12pt) is not tagged in the outgoing message. In-fact it is left blank, and the receivers mail will change it to a default such as times new roman. However this seems to create strange changes on the receivers end and sometimes the font can come out huge or varying, there is no consistency and the email looks ugly, As a business owner, my email is my letter head, and is a communicational face of my business.
The issue could be easily resolved with an option for an Apple Mail user to set up what font they want their out going message to be in and for Apple Mail to actually tag that font in the message. Without the 'user' having to each time manually choose this font.
I always use Arial 12pt for my out going message, but it's frustrating that I have to each time select my text and change the font and point size, (which means my screen message font has to be another font and size otherwise apple mail does not pick up the change). What I, and from what I can see many people, don't understand is most Mail Software (if not all), except Apple mail, don’t have this issue. And if I used a different mail app I can choose my out going font such as Arial 12pt, and the receiver will see the same font (obviously providing it's a websafe font), and I don't need to keep telling the programme to make it Arial every-time I compose a new message. This would save time.
I know that this ‘gripe’ is not only myself, and that there is a large number of people out there also annoyed by this, and many Apple uses choose not to use Apple mail simply because of this reason. Which is a shame, because Apple mail in my opinion is the best mail app out there.
I don't expect the programme to be perfect, but this is basic user experience and basic functionality, so why can't Apple correct it? All the amazing features in the world are worthless if the basics ‘user experience’ is not friendly.
I really really hope Apple does something about it, or at least develop a plugin that we can download to sort it out for those of us who want to use mail as I have described.
Attachment Tamer has sorted out the whole compatibility and friendliness of attachments, and I can set up how I want my attachments to work, I do it once and don't have to think about it again. I did have to pay for this function. But I should not have had to. this is not a feature I should have had to plugin, it should come standard with Mail, every other mail software does, so it is a user expectation... And the same goes for how we set up our fonts, in Rich Text, I should only need to set it up once and not think of it again, a general out going font should be a standard function.
As I said, I do ‘put up with it’ mostly because I’m an Apple fan, and In general hugely happy with the Apple products. But should someone have to ‘put up’ with something like this, when it is something so small that should really have been sorted out years ago in the early versions of Mail?
Sorry Kurt, I'm not really moaning at you directly, it's just that its a frustrating non-feature that I can see Apple is not even taking into consideration, and probably will never look at sort out. Why, is the question?

  • How to import Apple Mail archive files in Outlook 2013?

I need to import Apple Mail archived files in Outlook 2013 on Windows, but every time I open the import wizard and reach the file selection step, I cannot select the archived file. It doesn't even show in the dialog box.
I don't know what the issue is. Is it the file size issue as the archive file is large (about 7 GB) or there is any other fault?

If both system are using the IMAP mail provider all you have to do is setup the connection to the mail server and all the emails and folders will be copied down to the windows computer. That is what IMAP is for. The mail stays on the server, and can be store
on the local computer also, and when you connect to the server with another device, computer, phone or pad, all the mail with folders gets copied to the other device.
But I think some of your mail was gotten using POP so it is not longer on the server.
Or you have emails in local folder only and they would be on the server. But you can create folder on the server in one mail program, or on the mail web interface and then copy those emails into those folder on the server byt copying them in one of the email
programs. Then when you log on with the other device all of them will be downloaded to the other device.
Other alternative:- You can find various solutions on having a google search
for your problem. Or you can have a look at the following link: Apple mail to Outlook Windows

  • Apple says  Reminders works with Outlook, but I can't find where the lists are displayed in Office or Outlook  once they are synced.

Apple says  Reminders works with Outlook, but I can't find where the lists are displayed in Office or Outlook  once they are synced. Any suggestions?

I'll guess you've already discovered the answer to this, but just in case:
Reminders works with Outlook tasks by syncing with iCloud, or through Exchange. You can't sync iOS Reminders with Outlook Tasks via USB/iTunes (like you can do with Notes, Calendar, Contacts).
So the marketing material on Reminders is a little misleading in that it's not specific enough -- there is no syncing without one of those intermediary systems mentioned above.
On a side note, syncing Tasks/Reminders via iCloud is not very good in my opinion:
Requires that you sync to the cloud, even if you have no other use for storing personal data in the cloud.
Requires that the iCloud Control Panel be installed on your PC (not sure about Mac).
After syncing, you'll find new Calendar and Task groups called "iCloud" have been created in Outlook. The calendar groups appear to be created even if you're only syncing Tasks/Remminders (not sure why).
Reminders are stored in the new group (noted above) called "iCloud" rather than in your default Tasks group. This seems to me to be a sort of "parallel" sync, rather than a true sync with Outlook. There are oter implications of your synced tasks being in the new group that I won't go into here, but you can search the interwebs to learn more.
In my own case, I tried iCloud syncing, decided that I didn't like it for the reasons stated above, and then uninstalled (Control Panel and new Outlook groups) with no apparent ill effects.
Though I don't guarantee you'll have the same results, it might be worth a try to see if it suits your purposes.

  • Is Address book compatible with Outlook

    Hi,
I'm usine Msft Outlook at my office to handle emails. Is the Mac Address Book compatible with Outlook as for imports/exports so that I can update my contacts from office and vice versa?
    Thx
    Simon

    Hi,
Address Book "should" sync with an OWA server... I never got it to work, but some colleagues of mine do...
I (mis)use Entourage to do the syncing from time to time (hate the app though), and I also use AddressX from Snerdware to sync Exchange's GAL...

  • Apple mail not syncing with hotmail e-mail on iPhone

I just bought a MacBook Pro a couple days ago and before when I was using my PC my hotmail account on my PC would sync with my hotmail e-mail on my iPhone 4.  Since I setup my hotmail account in Apple Mail it is not syncing with my iPhone.  When I delete it on my Mac or show it as read, it still shows as unread on my iPhone.  This did not use to happen.  Can someone help me, so I can get my Mac and iPhone to sync my e-mails?
And I cannot see all my Hotmail folders in Apple Mail.
    Thanks!

    Thanks for your reply.
The problem is that I've got many years of emails saved on my hotmail account and I've got other different email addresses set up to forward their emails to this account. Due to the nature of my work, I also regularly have to search back through my emails.
It looks like my only option currently is to use an icloud account and have all of my other email accounts all forwarding emails to that instead. Unfortunately, this doesn't solve the problem of being able to search back through my emails, though.
Does anyone know how the iphone manages to successfully connect with hotmail accounts (as though using IMAP). As I said, my iphone works absolutely perfectly and is fully synced with the hotmail server. I know it's something to do with 'microsoft exchange' but I really don't understand what this is and how it works.
    Thanks, Matt

Is there a way to get an apple mail folder exported to outlook mail folder structure?  I'm using Gmail on my IMAC and have a PC for work.  Want to share folder structure between systems.

Use following steps to import apple mail to outlook:
Choose Mailbox->Export Mailbox, or choose Export Mailbox from the Action pop-up menu
Choose a folder or create a new folder where you want to store the exported mailbox.
Outlook for Mac: Choose File->Import Mailboxes. Select the mail application you want to import messages from.
If it does not work then you should use third party apple mail to pst applications. You can easily search in Google about these applications.

  • I'm having problems with Outlook for the Mac, anyone else?, I'm having problems with Outlook for the Mac, anyone else?

I have recently purchased a Mac.  I'm very dissapointed at the way Outlook 2011(the newest version, what?!?)interfaces with the Mac.  I used the contacts feature all the time when I had a microsoft system.  Now, I can't do that with Outlook for the Mac.  Does anyone have any alternative Apps that they've used for Business contacts?  Thanks much.

thank you both for your responses.  I'm having trouble mostly with a way to handle my business contacts. I'm self employed and when I had Outlook for Microst(before I switched to Apple)I was so pleased with this softward. Esp the way it would keep track of any correspondense between me and my customer.  I could also track billing thru Outlook contacts.
Now, I get my mail thru outllook and use ical and @contacts.  I see that I can have a separate group of contacts thru @contacts, but, it's not the same or nearly as good as Outlook contacts for Microsoft.
So, right now I'm really disapointed with my Mac purchase and hoping to find an app that will help.  I will investigate Thunderbird.
    thanks again.

  • Icloud compatibility with Outlook on Windows 7 pc

Is icloud compatible with Outlook Calendar?  I can enter an appointment on my iphone 4s and it will show up in outlook on my windows 7 pc; however, when I enter an appointment into my computer, it doesn't show up on my phone.  I need a way to have my calendars match and get my reminder alerts.

There are a couple threads (per day? dozen in last week?) about installer issues.
Trouble is, if it doesn't happen with a clean install of Windows and iTunes etc, and you aren't using Norton or XYZ, and your BIOS was current.... motherboard drivers, and nothing you installed conflicts of course.
people do things over the life of an OS with patches, registry changes, how they maintain, what else is installed.
And I really doubt Apple does much if any testing for 3rd party issues.
Create a new partition for Windows for testing, does it happen there?
No, for me, I converted the other direction as I have strong doubts about Apple software testing, and why I try to avoid 10.5.0 or anything they put out ends in zero or even in one sometimes.

  • Syncing iCloud Calendar with Outlook for Mac (new Outlook)

Does anyone know if it's possible to sync your iCloud Calendar with Outlook for Mac yet (Outlook for Mac is the new Outlook that comes with Microsoft Office 365)? If so, how do you do it?
I've done some research on this question, and most of the responses are a few years old... wanted to see if anything has changed since. I find it weird how I can sync my iCloud Calendar with Outlook 2013 on my PC, but not with Outlook for Mac on my Mac--which is practically the same thing.
    Thanks ahead of time!

    Greetings kipp0606,
If you would like to use iCloud mail in an email client, you may want to review the following article. It contains the mail server settings you'll need to set it up:
iCloud: Mail server settings for email clients - Apple Support
Use these mail server settings if you need to manually set up your email app (client) to use an iCloud email account.
Do you need these mail server settings?
You can use the mail server settings in this article to manually set up your email app to send and receive email with an iCloud email account. However, you shouldn't need to do that if you meet the iCloud system requirements and can use any of these setup methods:
OS X Lion v10.7.4 or later: Use iCloud Preferences.
Microsoft Windows with Microsoft Outlook 2010 or later: Use iCloud for Windows.
iOS 7 or later: Use iCloud settings.
If you're using the Mail app in OS X Snow Leopard v10.6, use the mail server information in the iCloud Mail setup instructions for Snow Leopard instead of the settings below.Mail server settings
Refer to your email app's documentation for information about how to use these settings. iCloud Mail uses the IMAP and SMTP standards supported by most modern email apps. iCloud does not support POP.

Any clue, how i can add a mail account to apple mail app, but with separate password / pin to open it.
Years ago there was a program called mail switcher which added this functionality, but thats gone.
    cheers
    Tom

They would have to be logged in as separate users in order not to see your account in Mail. Whatever accounts put in Mail under your account will show up. All mail accounts usually have there own user and password. The only thing you can do is to remove the password from Keychain and take the account offline so you don't keep getting prompts for passwords each time it checks for mail.
    Not a great solution.
Best way is to give the other user their own user account with their own mail and enable fast user swithcing to log between the different users if all access the computer frequently.
