Is an X-Fi xtreme Music card answer to my probl

Hi, I have been using an 'ADS Tech Instant Music' standalone USB box to record line-in audio as WAV files at 6-bit 44.. I am using a good quality digital mixer through which I am recording vinyl 2" singles. I just want to put them on CD. The problem I am having is that I don't think the sound quality is very good. The recordings sound 'furry' and digitized if you know what I mean. This is the same using the SP/DIF from a Sony CD player.
I am interested in getting the X-Fi Extreme Music card if this will solve the sound quality issue for strictly this one issue. Is the X-Fi the answer to my problem?
I am not interested in games or multi-media applications or even any other setup than normal stereo. I just want to make copies of my vinyl (through a mixer with its own pre-amp) and burn them to CD for use in any domestic CD player.
Can anyone help?
Will my PC setup be OK?
Are the SCP problems related to audio recording as well as sound in games?
My system is: Fujitsu Siemans Scaleo P with a Gigabyte 8945PE motherboard, P4 3.40 GHz proc, XP SP2 Home, BIOS AT/AT Compatible 2/07/05, 2 Gig of RAM, 2 x Samsung 49BG HD's, Radeon X550 + Secondary.

Can anyone tell me?

  • Have X-Fi Xtreme Music card work

I guess I can say that I'm one of those that has an X-Fi Xtreme Music card working in their system, except for a stuttering effect that happens after a couple of hours of listening to music or gaming. Have discovered that the suttering effect is related to ATI's Catalyst drivers when running Crossfire, of which I installed Catalyst 6.3, which helps reduce the stuttering effect. Next part of this, is my motherboard needs a bios update, which I'm sure ASUS is working on. I don't get no popping or crackling, when gaming or listening to music. Here's the setup, I have my Xtreme Music X-Fi working on, and it isn't an NFORCE 4 motherboard, but an RD480 Crossfire motherboard. My X-Fi Xtreme Music card doesn't even have a heatsink on it, nor did I look at the revision number if any, as my card works. I'm not sure, but I think it has a different coloured version of what you were refering to. I'll see if I have a closer closeup picture somewhere in my pictures, however that's the first one I found.
Maybe this will let me plug my front ports into it.
    Thanks for the idea though.

Here's the closeup picture after scouring my computer for the pic. I took 00 one day, but trying to get a good one of the model ### etc, so I could get help from the creative e-mail support, hehe, took 00 pic's to finally get an angle without the flash screwin it up. Anyways here it is.

  • Problems setting up Soundblaster X-Fi Xtreme Music card with Logitech Z-5500 Speak

I have searched a lot for information on this and I have been unable to find a solution to
my problem. I recently purchased a new Dell PC with the following items: Soundblaster X-Fi Xtreme Music sound card and Logitech Z-5500 speakers. However, when I tried to connect the 3 analog wires from the central unit into my sound card, only one of them will work at a time. In other words, only one set of speakers will play anything. I am not sure what other options I have. Someone from Best Buy said I needed the box that comes with the Platinum version of X-fi Xtreme but I am not sure where I can order this from. Is it sold seperately anywhere? Clearly I am not going to order another of the same sound card and pay another $200 when the only thing I need is the box. Any suggestions on how to solve this dilemma would be extremely appreciated.

You might want to reinstall the drivers, because it looks like your default speaker settings are set to 2. or whatever non 5. setting it was on. This is because whenever you click on the default settings button, it will reset the speaker setting back to the non-5. speaker setting. Actually, you can do a custom uninstall of the card and just uninstall the volume panel. Then reinstall it. It should ask you what default speaker setting you desire. Set it to 5.. That way you don't have to worry about it defaulting to the wrong speaker settings.

  • If i upgrade my drivers for my xtreme music card i get no sou

I install the drivers from the supplied CD that came with the XtrememMusic card and it works, get full sound etc. But if i download the latest drivers (audio console, drivers etc) as soon as they are installed I get no sound from from the card! This forces me to uninstall the Creative X-Fi drivers and software completely and go back to the drivers supplied with the card. Why is this happening?

Don't know about your problem but i have a different one.
I installed the latest drivers from CL site and then today i was checking the Windows update site when there was a Creative XFi update available. So i got it and it just screwed all the sound up. Made my mic echo and allsorts.
Teach me for trusting MS to supply updates for something that as naff all to do with them realy. Should of know because the last time i did this for my Nvidia 8800 card it did the exact same thing by screwing everything up. Doh! lolMessage Edited by taylorig on 08-20-200706:20 PM

  • Can I connect 5.1 AND 2.1 Systems to my X-fi Xtreme Music?

What is the best way to connect both my logitech z5500 5.1 system AND my 2.1 Klipsch system to my X-fi Xtreme Music card?
The Klipsch 2.1's connect using a standard 3.5mm headphone jack.
I want sound in two different rooms. One system in the backroom and one system in the front room.
    Thanks,
    Nick

    Thanks.
Will this distort my sound quality at all, or will the signal be equally good when split?

  • X-Fi Xtreme Music + Digital I/O + Optical Connection for z-5

Hi there, im new and very raw so i was wondering if anyone can clear some things up.
Ive had my X-Fi Xtreme Music card for about 3 months and in that time i've been using the 3 analogue 3.5mm connections to my z-5500 controller, and i've had no problem in terms of getting full 5. sound for music and in games. Ive recently bought a digital I/O from creative to have an optical connection to the z-5500 controller.
    My questions are:
    1) Can i get 5. sound using the optical connection When i had the analogue connection, my z-5500 controller said it was 6. surround, but when i changed the input to optical, the controller said it was stero and not 6. surround. Ive testing the speakers in the creative console, but my rear right and rear left is mostly comming from my front right and front left speakers (something is comming out of the rear speakers but its very low)
    2) Ive downloaded the dell drivers and went through the process as noted on another thread and i've successfully got the dts and dolby digital working, but how do i know it works Is there some way i can test and see if it works I mean isnt my z-5500 controller supposed to say dts or dolby digital because at the moment it isnt.
    3) Is there any sound difference between an optical connection and the annalogue connection in terms of playing mp3's and games. Im aware that dts and dolby digital isnt available on the analogue connection, but i dont watch many dvd's on my comp so is there an point to have the optical connection
Thanks very much for anyone that helps.

To get a 5. spread on the 5500 with an optical or coaxial connection, you need to use the Effect button on the controller and switch to PL II Music. You can then spread the sound to the back using the Levels button and turning Surround up to your desired level. There are also some changes you can make using the Settings button.
As for the Dolby Digital and DTS, that will only show up on the controller when you are watching a DVD which supports either/or.
    Hope this helps

  • X-Fi xtreme Music no Midi

Is it possible to connect a midi device to a X-fi xtreme music card because I just bought a PC with one in and I have a ?400 midi keyboard I want to use.
Why has it not got a midi port? I just hope there is away otherwise I've wasted alot of money.....

hmmm.... I just looked at the price of one of those External devices,Why so expensi've? A fatality card is Cheaper. I cant have an internal one because if I fit anything in my PC I will void my Warrenty probably and besides its nearly as expensi've as my card was anyway .
At the end of the day I would have been better saving up abit more money for the next model up, I just wish I would have known about it not having a Midi port before purchase, I just thought all cards had them.......
I guess an adaptor is my last hope, I just hope It works.

  • How to connect SB X-FI XTREME MUSIC with Creative Inspire 5.1 Digital 5

    Hi,
I want to know what I have to do to connect my x-fi xtreme music with my creative inspire 5. digital 5700 due to listen music with all? 5 twiters. I have windows vista ultimate 32bits. Thanks!?JoanMessage Edited by joanantoni on 07-9-200703:54 AM

With your Inspire 5. Digital 5700, your best bet is?using the analog Front and Rear input connections on the decoder and connect them to the X-Fi Xtreme Music front (Line Out )?and rear (Line?Out 2)?output connections and then enable CMSS Music or CMSS Movie Mode on your Digital 5700 decoder which will then give you a 4./5. Upmix. Gi'ven that you don't have a Center connection on the the Inspire 5. Digital 5700, no connection can made to the your Front Center satelite speaker/Subwoofer (Line Out 3) on your X-Fi Xtreme Music card. I'm led to understand that Creative speaker systems do not need Bass Redirection to reproduce proper Bass frequencies on your Subwoofer and not on your satelite speakers but you may want to test this simply enabling and disabling Bass Redirection, on your X-Fi Xtreme Music sound card, to your own personal taste. Alternately, you can concurrently connect your Inspire 5. Digital 5700 via the Coxial Digital/PCM Input to the FlexiJack input/output jack on the X-Fi Xtreme Music and then enable Digital I/O mode for the FlexiJack in the Audio Console found in the Windows Control Panel or?in the Entertainment Mode or Game Mode Consoles. Unfortunately the FlexiJack only provides a 2 conductor connection therefore it only supports 2. Speaker system connections?therefore you will still have to enable the CMSS Music or CMSS Movie Modes on your Inspire 5. Digital 5700 decoder to produce a 4./5. sound upmix. Sadly, no optical connection can be made between your Inspire 5. Digital 5700 and your X-Fi Xtreme Music sound card without the installation of the X-Fi I/O Dri've or X-Fi I/O Console at, of course, additional expense. From my standpoint, the X-Fi I/O Dri've is a good value given the number of external inputs and outputs in offers. Again, it's a matter of what your personal connection requirements are and budget. Hope this hel
    ps.

  • X-Fi Xtreme Music - 7.1 audio for 2 channel aud

I'm using an X-Fi Xtreme Music card with the Creative P7800 7. speakers. How can I set it so 2 channel audio files are projected out of all speakers, instead of just the left, center, and right speakers? On my other computer (Audigy 2 ZS + TT7700 7. speakers) I have it setup so 2 channel audio is projected out of every single speaker. I cannot, however, find that setting for the X-Fi card. All help appreciated - Thanks in advance!

Stereo Xpand is using a special matrix that upmixes sound with some surround properties (rear channels are not that loud, center is additionally processed etc), while Stereo Surround just copies stereo source across all channels. So if you want unmodified sound on all your speakers satelittes, just use CMSS-3D Stereo Surround and set it to 50%.
Adjusting Stereo Envelopment will just change balance between front and rear speakers (loudness). Hope it hel
    ps.

  • Xtreme Music/ Vista/ Installed but no sou

Hi guys, Im having great trouble with my Xtreme Music card. I have downloaded the vista driver from the Soundblaster site. I made sure any other drivers were uninstalled and disabled the onboard sound. I am using a Creative Digital i/o adapter also. Everything seems to be installed correctly and even the small graphic equalizer next to the Digital i/o icon in Control Panel is showing a signal however there is NO SOUND. Im a bit baffled.
I have read through a great number of the posts here and found similar issues but no solution. Apologies if I am repeating an issue.

Don't know about your problem but i have a different one.

  • Xi Fi Xtreme Music - You've got to be kidding m

I had the beta version of VISTA with a soundblaster li've card in my PC, I bought the Xi-Fi Xtreme Music Card?last month?for one purpose and hoping it would work with the FULL VERSION OF?VISTA. To enhance the quality of recording my music. Now with?VISTA,? its all messed up, still the same problem with?the li've card that the VISTA beta gave me. The?driver you have to download on here is not complete, sound stutters.. Mp3's crackle.... I can't record my music properly now. I? had to reinstall my Windows XP MCE,?and in?limbo with a copy VISTA home that I can't use properly.
You've got to be kidding me that I just wasted my money on?a new sound card,?that is not even ready for VISTA when it was released within the past month!!.. Wasn't the company atleast given a HEADS UP, so you would be READY with your hardware for VISTA?..
I am very confused and a bit pissed at the moment, can someone PLEASE let me know what is going on. Or when this problem is going to be FIXED!!..

Have you read the stickies on Windows Vista compatibility? Final drivers for the X-fi will be out in a few weeks it looks like. Meanwhile, if you're doing any mission-critical activities on your computer, you don't have any business using Vista just yet. I mean, most companies won't even switch to Vista for a year or more. There are going to be all kinds of issues when a new OS is released. I wish people would understand that before wigging out in the forums. I'm using my X-fi fatality pro series in Vista Ultimate and yes I miss the console launcher, working ac3 passthrough through spdif, and all the other stuff. But maybe I'm lucky in that my digital out works and EAX seems to work fine in BF242.
The point is, I knew going into the upgrade that some things wouldn't work or work properly for a little while. So no, nobody is kidding you. Just stick with Win XP until official drivers are up for all your hardware. Vista isn't going anywhere so I suggest you relax.

  • Xtreme Music Upgr

I unfortunately dupped myself and purchased an Xtreme Audio card. I'm going to put it in my old system that my mother uses. Question on the Xtreme Music card. Would this be a wise upgrade? I found one I can get brand new, the only thing is it's an oem. It's not a system pull and new. My real question is does it have the processing chip or a software thing. My current system is a Dell and I'm well aware of their version issues in the past. Even if it doesn't have the chip would it be worthwhile since the price of the Xtreme Music is about the same as what I paid for the Xtreme Audio and I will be re-using that one in my old box. Also the seller is an on-line retailer and not an individual. Thanksmodel of card #SB0460 I believe.

!Re: Xtreme Music Retail or OEM? Here's what i have in mind.
Download the newest drivers from the creative site (with these installed EAX 5.0 will work).
Then open youre CD in windows explorer and go to the folder ''audio'' there will be folders with all kind of software.
now....copy all the software you need (or all except for ''drivers'' ) pack it with something like winrar and upload it to http://www.megaupload.com/?or someting else, then post me the download link and i'll make a package for you that installs app's only. (and youre hardware device id added of course)
I will upload it to so you can download it.
if you agree with this do it tomorrow, friday evening im on holiday for a week.

  • Xtreme Music Digital

    Hello,
I've upgraded to 64-Bit Vista, and I can't get the SPDIF passthrough on my Xtreme Music card to work. The SPDIF Input Settings option under the SPDIF tab is grayed out in the console.
I'm using the latest driver, and it specifically said on the download page that SPDIF passthrough is supported in Vista 64-Bit. What am I doing wrong?

To get a 5. spread on the 5500 with an optical or coaxial connection, you need to use the Effect button on the controller and switch to PL II Music. You can then spread the sound to the back using the Levels button and turning Surround up to your desired level. There are also some changes you can make using the Settings button.
