Is any Oracle 8i/9i available for NOVELL 5.X ?

What version of Oracle is available for Novell 5.X without problems.

Ah! a developer on a REAL networked OS (:-))
Essentially, 9iAS is Tomcat and Jserv with the Orion Apps Server. The problem is going to be that the native code for Oracle is not supported on Novell.
However, the good news is that all the components are available for Novell, as long as you have the newest patched version of the OS and NLMs (5.1+) and the J2EE JVM, bugfixed, from June 2001 or later. You may need to rewrite the deployment options to take advantage of the NLMs, but everything should work fine.
The above said, among the things you won't have available to you is the PL/SQL servlet and others of the Oracle-specific functions. All of the pieces/parts that the implementation is avaialble on are available for Novell 5.x and word is that Websphere 4 will come bundled with NetWare 6. Considering that Mr. Larry has elevated IBM to 'Oracle Enemy #1' ahead of Microsoft, they would be foolish to ignore what is still the 2nd largest desktop networking platform on the market, especially considering IBM's relationship with Novell.
Said relationship considered (and the obviously friendlier attitude at IBM for Novell), and since Websphere is available for Netware, and can connect to Oracle databases (although DB2 is faster on Novell) Websphere may be the better choice.
Apache.org and java.apache.org are where you can find the web server and jserv, respectively, jakarta.apache.org is where you can find Tomcat, and orionserver.com is where you can find the orionserver (the OC4J component, which is also a webserver, jsp container, servlet container and ejb container). Orion runs Perl, Python and PHP at the appserver, too. Since Orionserver is between 4 and 8 times faster than Apache/Tomcat and over 32X faster than Jserv, I don't understand why Oracle made the implementation so complex, but there it is.
You might also investigate deploying on Solaris and redirecting to your webservers on your Novell servers (or vice versa.)
Hope I was of some help.

  • I'm a video editor working primarily in FCP7 and just purchased the latest Mac Pro running Yosemite ? Does anyone know if any options have become available for running FCP7 on this platform ?

I'm a video editor working primarily in FCP7 and just purchased the latest Mac Pro running Yosemite ? Does anyone know if any options have become available for running FCP7 on this platform ?

It would "run" (more like Sunday stroll or walk) if you installed Snow Leopard in a VM. Especially if you have 6-core (and would help to have 6 or 8 cores anyway if you were able to and intend to make best use of nMP for video editing).
If you "classic" Mac Pro was 2009 or later, adding two AMD graphic cards, upgrading the processor to 8-core 3.xGHz would have gotten you a FCP-X capable machine and still dual boot and use Snow Leopard as needed.
Any Mac Pro can now use 1000MB/sec SSD PCIe blade to boot from and/or for scratch and editing to help improve work flow.

  • Oracle 9i CD availability for free

    Hi,
Do you know if Oracle 9i is available for free without download? Do they send CD, for instance? MSFT's SQL Server can be downloaded for evaluation purposes and for free, and it is reasonably small (=doesn't take much time to download). I would like to get Oracle 9i for the same purposes, but download takes forever.

Oracle 8i for Linux 2.2 kernels (using glibc 2.1) is supposed to
be out the first part of June. I don't know what they will do
about 8SE and 8EE. Maybe supply patches? Anyway, Oracle is
aware of the problems associated with glibc 2.1 and is working on
    it.
I installed Caldera Openlinux 2.2 and used a previously installed
Oracle 8EE installation. So far, it is working. I believe they
have said that it should work, but you may encounter a few
    errors.
I believe that Oracle 8EE adds Partitioning and Objects. 8i is
made for use with the internet and allows you to create stored
procedures in Java. I have never used the product, but that is
    my understanding of it.
    I hope this helps.

  • Is Oracle Configuration Manager Available for Hyperion Planning Servers?

The "My Oracle Support" site (https://support.oracle.com) describes the values of installing the Oracle Configuration Manager on servers.
Question: is this available for the Hyperion products or just Oracle databases? If available for Hyperion products, does it add value to tech support?
    Any comments would be appreciated.

    John
This is partially correct. If you user12136418 are looking for a way to monitor health automatically and get access to web ex session technical support from one console OCM is a great tool. The fact that it is not a thick client in nature nor a windows service makes it ideal for having agents monitor network traffic SNMP and still have all hyperion health monitored without having to run a tool like SCOM. I have been waiting for this tool for a year . Now if only Hyperion would work with IE8. But we all can not have egg in our beer.

  • Any Oracle best practice/standards for inter-DataCente links for Oracle RAC

    Hello Oracle Experts,
Am working for a customer to set up Oracle RAC architecture hosting SAP/Non-SAP applications per SLA levels(MC/BC/Standard) specs. Currently my network team needs calculation to arrive at whether we will go for a (1), (2) or (3) 10Gig links for inter DC (Data-Center) for Oracle RAC.. below is additional background:
    •     Porting all client SAP/Non-SAP Oracle databases to new 2 data-centers.
    •     There will be 10 blades (4x BL680s and 6x BL460s) in each DC (can scale-up/out later on).
    •     Clusters architecture to support Extended/Stretched RAC cluster feature
    •     Clusters 2-node each(1-datacenter1, 1-datacenter2) and nodes distributed across 2 x c7000 such that no cluster has more than one node in an enclosure.
    •     Each node will have - 4 NIC ports ( 2 x public and 2 x private) , 2 dual-port HBA
    •     Oracle ASM/ACFS (ASM Cluster File System), Voting Disk, OCR and Database files
    •     the versions are Oracle 11g RAC, Oracle 10g RAC and Oracle 9i (for DataGuard/Standby) on RHEL 6 on Proliant Blades (x86) + BladeMatrix
My network colleagues considering using DWDM across the 2 DCs(given the lesser cost?). Am still looking around if there are any Oracle/industry-best practices around this and having a calculation to support that..
    Many Thanks in advance..
    Regards,
    Abhijit

    Hi ,
There are no specific set of steps / practices for batch loading contents to ucm . It would be very much dependent on how many contents does the user have to load to UCM and how well the server is configured in terms of performance .
You can get more details from the following documentation link : http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21043_01/doc.1111/e10792/c02_settings009.htm

  • In Stock Online but not in stock in any stores and not available for Delivery?

I am having an issue and I can't understand it. Recentally I have been searching everywhere for an affordable copy of "Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn." I come across Bestbuy's online store and there it is pre owned for 29.99$!! I was so excited to finally have found it. The website says that the game is available and in stock so I go to order it. But to my dismay not a single store in South Carolina has the game in stock, and the game is not available for shipping. So I came to the forums first since I am at work, so I want to know is there anyway I can get my hands on this game from Bestbuy? Can I have one branch send it to another or have it delivered to me or am I stuck brooding over the fact that I can't get a hold of this game? I would appreciate the help but this issue has really disapointed me and killed my rush and excitement tonight.

I took a look at that item on BestBuy.com and it seems that is a Pre-Owned game. Clearly from the name, this game must be previously owned before Best Buy can re-sell the item, so not every single store will have a copy. Unfortunately, if the Store Pickup option isn't showing any inventory in nearby stores, it means that no Pre-Owned copy is available to ship. Online orders pull from the district/territory warehouse(s), so it will be much harder to get a copy of this game than a normal item which is regularly stocked. Perhaps a Forum Moderator can shed more light onto this situation or offer a solution I haven't mentioned. Hope you can get your hands on a copy of this game!!

  • Any better text presets available for Premiere Elements

    Hi all,
I tried doing a google search and a forum search and came up empty. The presets that come with elements are nice, but really basic when compared to the competition (corel for example). I was wondering if there are more presets available from adobe, fellow forum members, or freeware websites. Any one else have any suggestions?
    Thanks!

    Thanks for the reply!
I'd like the letters to "explode" away. As in each letter individually flies into the screen as if there was an explosion behind it.
I'd also like the letters to roll in on screen then roll out.
It would be super nice if there was a true way to edit the text. Heck there might even be and I'm just missing it.
It would be nice if there was a section on adobe's website that offered downloadable text animation presets, audio, and video effects. I see a lot for photoshop elements but none for premiere elements (unless I happen to be looking in the wrong place).
