Is any version of iOS 6 available anywhere?

I had an iPhone 4 and had upgraded to iOS7 which seemed to be a mistake. It was ok, but did have some basic issues and everyone told me that I should not have done it. That phone was just stolen, boo! A friend had an old 4 sitting in a drawer and gifted it to me. It seems to have iOS 5.1 on it and I"m having issues downloading some apps. Is there any way to find any of the iOS6 versions anywhere? I really don't want to ruin this phone with 7. I do not have the capability to get another phone for about another year and need to make this phone last. Any ideas?

No. Apple does not support downgrading of iOS, and are no longer signing any copies of iOS 6. You either leave it on iOS 5.1, or you upgrade to iOS 7.0.4. Only choice.

  • Do all apps in the appstore work w/ any version of iOS?

If I use a 2nd generation iTouch with the highest iOS (4.2), will any app on the appstore work?
    Thanks.

No. It depends on the app developer and what iOS versions they have chosen to support. You'll just have to look at each app you want to determine which iOS version it supports.

  • Need to Install Java SE 6 Runtime in order to launch Illustrator from Mac OS Yosemite?  But it's not available anywhere?

    Hello,
Can anyone help me with this?  I upgraded to Yosemite, and now I can't launch Illustrator because it says I need Java SE 6 runtime in order to open it.  But that version is not available anywhere, not on Apple's website and not on Oracle's.  I did install the latest version of Java, but that didn't solve the problem.  Apparently Illustrator (and I assume all of the creative cloud apps) require version 6?  Any input is appreciated, this is SO frustrating ...

yes.  but if you follow that link and click on "download" you get an Apple message that says "We're sorry.  We can't find the page you're looking for."  That was the first thing I tried.  Any other ideas?

  • HT201442 Apple Configurator claims to restore any version

    In this article http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5769?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
Apple Configurator claims to restore any version of iOS, yet refuses to do so.
I have my performance reasons to want to go to the version I'm wanting, the current and final version of iOS for my iPod Touch is far too laggy and slow.
So once again is a page here saying you can do something you cant?
*Allows older iOS software versions and custom IPSW installation

So the configurator works with older iOS versions, which really cant be used because you cannot downgrade or restore to the current version you have.
Yet it also allows custom IPSW installation which is impossible because the only "version" you can choose is the current...
Seems like a very poor choice in description for such a good software company.

  • Since upgrading to the newest version of ios 8, I can no longer share my photos on facebook. I have tried going to setting-photos, but the facebook app does not show up for me to change the settings. Any suggestions?

when you opened the shared library with the newer version of iPhoto (iPhoto '11) you were given a warning that your library would be converted and could not be used by older versions - you clicked ok to go ahead - there is no updo available - either upgrade to iphoto '11 of the MBP or load your backup of the iPhoto '09 library on it - older versiopns of i{Photo can not read newer libraries

Upgrading the iOS "over-the-air" was introduced with iOS 5. If you are currently running an iOS version < 5.0 you can only update through iTunes. Connect your iPad to your PC or Mac. Open iTunes and click on "Check for updates"

Once you are in Recovery Mode, it's too late to do any backup. I am afraid you are going to lose your data.

  • The version of iOS on does not match any of the versions of iOS supported for development with this installation of the iOS SDK

Getting this error message as of this morning: The version of iOS on “iPad” does not match any of the versions of iOS supported for development with this installation of the iOS SDK. Please restore the device to a version of the OS listed below, or update to the latest version of the iOS SDK. I've downloaded the latest SDK and gone through the usual turn off and turn on again for iPad and computer, removed and reinstalled the iPad from Organizer and have no idea how to make apps build now. I was prompted to update the iphone too but there's no way I'm updating it if this issue can't be resolved.

Okay these are the steps I took to solve the problem - they may not be the right ones for you but they've solved the problem and saved time hunting for some other solution. Firstly I changed my MAC system to Lion with the £20 download, then I deleted the old Xcode and installed the new version that is app based and doesn't support Snow Leopard, then all was well. I can now update my xcode via the app which is quicker and more logical and can update my iPhone rather than chug along avoiding updates as I need to update my existing apps on the app store and upload a new one.

  • Is there any "Tesseract OCR API" available for "IOS SDK 7.0" ??

I want to make an application in IOS SDK 7.0 with Xcode 5 that required "Tesseract OCR API". So, Is there any "Tesseract OCR API" available for "IOS SDK 7.0" ? if any, please post the download link.
    Thanks

I went on with the instructions and it worked properly with whitebackground image with black colored texts and it provide garbage value results with colored images. However when I try to run it on XCode 5.1 it shows "Caanot initialize an object of type 'Tesseract *' with rvalue 'BOOL' in the  "
    (id)initWithDataPath:(NSString *)dataPath
                  language:(NSString *)language
             ocrEngineMode:(NSString *)mode
           configFilenames:(NSArray*)configFilenames
                 variables:(NSDictionary*)variables
    setOnlyNonDebugParams:(BOOL)setOnlyNonDebugParams" method.
And when I try to modify it then it display many linker errors.

  • Attachments sent through Mail in iOS (any version) are received as corrupt.

Hello! If I send any attachment through Mail in iOS (can be iPads and iPhones, multiple versions) with my Exchange account, these attachments will arrive to their destination corrupt (as in, they cannot be opened). I've got Exchange 2007 in my company. I know that this is not an iOS problem or Mail problem, since if I send the same exact attachments via another service, say Gmail for example, it arrives correctly to the sender.
I have not done anything to the Exchange server so far, I just wanted to know if there's someone that can lead us in the correct direction.
At first I thought the problem was with iOS since is started around the day we upgraded to iOS 7.1. We've upgraded to the newer 7.1.1 version of iOS but this has not resulted in a correction of the problem.
    Any thoughts or ideas?
    - James.

This is not an iPhone problem or an iOS problem as you seem to be aware.
As for troubleshooting the attachment corruption problem, I'd think your best resource would be Microsoft.

  • If I backed up with a newer version of iOS than the phone I am trying to backup to.. Is there any way to bypass the setup assistant in order to download the new iOS on the new phone then go back and restore from my old phone?

if I backed up with a newer version of iOS than the phone I am trying to backup to.. Is there any way to bypass the setup assistant in order to download the new iOS on the new phone then go back and restore from my old phone?

Try deleting your last backup by turning off iCloud Backup in Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup, then tap Manage Storage, swipe across your backup and tap Delete, then go back and turn iCloud Backup back on again.  If it still won't back up, you may have an app that is preventing the backup from succeeding.  To locate which one, go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage, tap the name of your device under Backups, under Backup Options tap Show All Apps, then turn them all to Off (including camera roll) and try backing up again.  If it succeeds, then the camera roll and/or one of your apps is preventing the backup and you'll have to located by process of elimination. Turn the camera roll On and try backing up again.  If it succeeds, turn some of your apps to On and try backing up again.  If it succeeds again, turn some more apps to On then try again; repeat this process until it fails.  Eventually you'll be able to locate the problem app and exclude it from your backup.

    Hi,
That should not be happening. Maybe you should take it back to where you bought it.
Download and read the User Guide at this site: https://itunes.apple.com/us/book/id917482340

Backup and restore your software via iTunes. If the problem continues, restore as a NEW device. If this solves it, that means there is some corruption in your backup file. If the problem is still there, you should take it to the Genius Bar at an Apple Store for evaluation.
