Is anybody use LR with Photoshop Elements 6 for Mac ?

I've just bought Photoshop Elements 6 for Mac on a PM G5 (OS 10.5.2). PSE works but LR don't find it as external editor. I have done what is the Knowledge Base, I've deleted all adobe products (and all related files in /Library an home/Library) and reinstall only PSE 6 and LR 1.3.1 .
In KB, they tell that LR uses a com.adobe.Photoshop.Elements.plist but PSE 6 creates a com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist (without a dot between Photoshop and Elements). I've tried to duplicates this file but that does not work.
I don't understand why LR does not provide a way to specify where Photoshop (or Elements) is. I don't know what to do now.

For some reason Adobe decided to change the bundle name for the PSE6 application from com.adobe.photoshop.elements to com.adobe.PhotoshopElements. This change is also reflected in the Preferences file names.
Lightroom (1.3.1 and 1.4) seem to use the MacOS core services to find PSE - but use the com.adobe.photoshop.elements (and com.adobe.photoshop for full PS) bundle names.
The immediate fix, if you're handy with a hex editor, is to go into the Lightroom application bundle, find the file AgEditExternally.lua and patch the string "com.adobe.photoshop.elements" in the file so it becomes "com.adobe.PhotoshopElements" (remember a null terminator and make a copy of the file first!).
If that's Greek to you then either live with it and wait for an official fix or set up Elements 6 as the 'Additional External Editor'.

Because even after 14 years MS has failed to add arabic support to most Office products for Mac.  Instead use Open/LibreOffice or Numbers.

  • Is anybody using Virtual PC Home Edition for Mac 7

    Hi,
Is anybody using Virtual PC Home Edition for Mac 7 & is it any good?
    Have you had any problems?
    Jeff

Virtual PC is outdated and probably doesn't even run under Snow Leopard (since you're posting in the Snow Leopard forum).
For running Windows software next to Mac software, your current choices are Parallels Desktop, VMWare Fusion, VirtualBox, and others. All will run much faster than Virtual PC anyway.

  • Photoshop Elements for Mac - Three Versions Installed

    Hi there,
I'm cleaning up stuff on my iMac and find I have three purchased versions of PhotoShop Elements for Mac installed, V4, V6 and now V8.  Can I safely remove the old V4 and V6 versions without them affecting anything in V8?
Also, there are other versions of related software, such as Adobe Bridge, then Adobe Bridge CS3 and CS4.  Can the original and CS4 versions be removed.
What else might have multiple versions relating to Photoshop Elements?
Can I remove these by simply deleting them from the Applications or is there a process which needs to be followed, i.e., an Uninstall?
    Guidance much appreciated.
    Lynn

"Never delete anything, just buy a bigger hard drive"!
After I admit to being "slightly eccentric", let me say I don't know why you even need to uninstall any of them. The only caveat there is you can't run two versions simultaneously.  I have PSE- 5 & 7 installed on one of my computers, and I import the same file into both catalogs, while duplicating the folders on a separate HDD also. You can never be to sure, or is that too insecure, I'm not really sure.

  • Can Premiere Elements 9 be used simultaneously with Photoshop Elements 8?

I currently have a computer with photoshop elements 8 and premiere elements 8 installed.
Unfortunately, the premiere elements 8 program does not recognize the video output from my Sony Cybershot camera.  However, Premiere Elements 9 does.
If I purchase and install Premiere Elements 9, will it inegrate with the organizer and with Photoshop Elements 8 the same way the Premiere Elements 8 does?
Or will it create 2 separate organizer programs or other compatibilty problems?
    Thanks,
    Kevin

Thanks so much for the helpful answers, they're much appreciated.
I think I'll just go ahead an purchase the Photoshop9/Premiere9 bundle since the extra cost is probably worth it to me to have a single organizer program that will interface with both.
    Thanks again,
    Kevin

  • Photoshop Elements for Mac OSX 10.5.6 Version?

I'm confused. Is there an Elements for Mac in Version 7. I called the sales line and they told me that for a Mac I would choose Version 6 for Mac??? Is Version 7 for Windows equal to Version 6 for Mac?
    Thanks!

Yes, there is no version 7 for mac, but it doesn't really matter, since most of the changes between 6 and 7 were bug fixes in the organizer and the push to use photoshop.com. In the editor, there aren't huge differences between the two programs, just a couple of new tools. For 10.5.6 PSE 6 is the one you want, especially if you have an intel mac.

  • Choosing paper type in Photoshop Elements for mac

How do I select paper type in PS elements for Mac OS Lion 10.7?

You do this in the OS X print window that appears after you click Print in the PSE print window. You may need to expand the window by clicking the Show Details button, and then you'll see a pulldown menu in the middle of the window where you make your choices for paper, ink, etc.

  • Photoshop Elements for Mac

I purchased an HP Printer that came with Adobe Elements 11 bundle.  The software is only for Windows.  HP referred me to Adobe.  Adobe customer service referred me to forums.  Any suggestions on how I can get the version for my MAC?

You posted in the Photoshop forum by mistake. I've moved your post to the Elements forum where you are more likely to get help with Elements issues.

  • Photoshop elements for Mac (snow leopard)

Hi all. I recently upgraded my computer to a MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard. Previously i had a windows running acer. Just before my acer crashed i bought Adobe Photoshop Elements 7. Unfortunately this is not compatible with my Mac. I was wondering if there is anyway to get a download which will make it compatible (I don't even know if such things exist) or if i'm able to download a Mac compatible version and use my old serial number? or am i stuck having to fork out to buy another copy? Please help....

this is not the Elements Forum.
but to answer your question Adobe does not make software that will run on both platforms its either or. you will need to buy a Mac version.

  • Help with photoshop elements 8 mac and printing photos

Here is my issue and I had the same problem with the trial aperture 3. My photos from iPhoto 9 print out nice glossy frame worthy pictures on my 4x6 photo paper. However PSE 8 prints out the same photo with poor quality and streaky lines. iPhoto print outs seem to take almost a minute to print out, and PSE photos take like 20 sec so Its not making second pass or perhaps it doesn't know its printing to glossy photo paper?
Its not the printer since I am getting awesome photos from iPhoto 9, anyone have similiar issues like this.
Other then printing I'm very impressed with PSE 8 for the mac.
    Thank you
    Matt

Thank you Barbara, that was it. Printing out great photos from PSE now.

  • Trying to compare Aperature with Adobe Elements for Mac

Mac Book Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Actually, your choice should be between Aperture and Adobe Lightroom. Either way, you'll still need Photoshop. Maybe you could get away with using Elements with Aperture or Lightroom, but I doubt it.
Aperture (and Lightroom) are for organizing and dealing with your photos (all of them). Photoshop (and Elements) are for dealing with indivual photos. I for example, have imported all 80 thousand of my digital shots into Aperture. But I can't make my photos look like my photos in Aperture, so the "finals" take a trip through Photoshop, where I burn the corners, dodge people's faces, etc. Photoshop can't/won't catalog, organize, deal with your collection. But Aperture can't/won't do the things PS can on individual shots.
So you may well ask whether you can use Elements instead of PS, but Aperture and PS are different beasts, and you probably need both.

  • Photoshop Elements for Mac - Not responding

I have had PE 12 for about 6 months on my MAC (1.5TB, free, 32 gb ram,) . All has been good. All of a sudden, I cant get the program to work - it just gives me spinning wheel of death.
I DID remove the program via the S/W, and reloaded, and same issue. I cant access the File menu to try and repair the catalog. It just goes to spinning wheel.
I feel like Im sunk ... can anyone help?
    Thanks,
    Chuck

Ok, thanks so much for your continued patience.
I have repaired permissions, unistalled PE 12, reinstalled under another admin user (seems to go ok - but does not load a library)
I switched users and tried to do a clean backup once PE 12 started under my username - but right after the prompt for revconnecting files - it gave me a spinning wheel.
So i inderstand that my pictures and videos are srtill intact, but Iahve 30,000 + of these tagged and organized to the nines. My photos are like looking for a needle in a haystack without PE.
So I dont know how to proceeed next. Do I delete all catalogs and replace from my most recent backup? Is there any software support Adobe Provides for this type ofd issue? My concern is if I delete my catalogs, and start a new from the backup and the program is the issue (not the catalog) I just fell back another month with my cataloging, importing and tagging.
I've had minor issues before through v2 - v11, but this is killing me.
    Thanks Barbara.

  • An updated photoshop elements for mac?

I just got a mac and found out that the latest update that is available for a mac is PSE6,  and was wondering if a PSE7 or PSE8 is coming out that will be mac compatable? thanks

Well, you can forget PSE 7, that's for sure, if Adobe hasn't said anything by now. The past few years they've only been updating the mac version on the even numbered updates, so presumably there's hope for PSE 8, although if they do it's anybody's guess as to when it will come out.

  • New install of Photoshop elements for Mac 6

I have the downloaded trial version on my new Mac. I now want to install the copy I bought. When I do so the first thing I get is an error message.
    JavaScript Alert
Critical errors were found in setup Incompatible payload already installed Please see Setup log file for details.
Can someone help me fix this problem. It is very frustrating.
    Thanks,
    Karen

You should have run the uninstaller from the download for the trial. At this point, get rid of as much stuff as you can find (don't forget to check hard drive>library>application support), then download and run this:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb402767&sliceId=2
before trying the retail installer again.
