Is anyone currently working hands on with the Macbook Pro 13"

I would like to buy this model but I would first like to hear any reactions from people currently working on the new Pro 13". Any particular problems? Is the screen a worthy update from the Macbook 13"? Any thoughts on quality and performance?
thanks

I just bought the 13" MacBook Pro 2.26 model on the day it was released. I made the swap from my 17" 2.93 GHz 8GB RAM 320GB HD@7200RPM. You might wonder why downgrade all that horse power? Well, I am an IT administrator at my company and I lug my MacBook Pro everywhere I go. Whether I'm in the office or at home or even away for vacation. I have tools on my computer that allow me to remote manage all my users and my servers. Anyhow, I opted for weight and size of the 13". I bought the basic 13" model with the 4GB RAM. I am currently upgrading my HD myself to a 500GB 7200RPM internal 2.5" Seagate HD. My 13" is the quietest and coolest MacBook Pro I've ever had. The 17" was noisy because the drive would crackle every now and then making me think that something was wrong with it. (Unfounded issue) And all my programs work beautifully on the 13". I even have Windows XP running with VMWare and it goes without a hitch. I was really afraid to go away from all that power I had with the 17", but I'm not a 3D Graphic artist. I'm not a intense gamer. I use command line and remote management software. All in all, I am very very happy with my decision. At times I'm nostalgic for the power, but really will anyone tap 2.93GHz with 8GB RAM? Not me. My eyes were bigger than my productions. Good luck with whatever you are deciding.

    Hi G-Money,
The communication will be over TCP-IP.
Thanks for your offer to help.  I don't really need assistance in figuring out how to communicate with the device in LabVIEW at a transport layer.  I'm just trying to take inventory on what's already been done, at a messaging protocol level, that could be useful as a reference or starting point.
    Thanks,

  • What wireless routers work with the MacBook Pro?

I have been having problems with my inconsistent D-Link 624 and I realize that I will have to replace it.
I would like to know what routers are compatible with the MacBook Pro. My D-Link worked fine with my iBook but I think it does not work with the Intel binary. Any suggestions?

I had problems with a number of different Linksys routers (dropped signal, couldn't connect to some iChat AV calls, etc). I'd been using some Airport express routers for music around the house, which I switched around a made a primary wireless router and a reange exapnder. I've had ZERO problems since.
BTW, I was having almost identical problems with my PowerMac G5 (with a wireless card).
I'm curious if something in recent upgrades (10.4.7?) has changed the OS's ability to connect reliably with non-Apple routers.
But at least my Apple routers seem to be working very well.

  • Can anyone recommend a backlit keyboard to use with the Macbook Pro?

I like to hook my laptop up to a larger monitor and work that way while at home with an external keyboard hooked up by usb. I am using an older mac keyboard but its hard to see the keys if the room is not well lit. Can someone recommend a backlit external keyboard to use with the macbook pro that has a number pad? This seems really hard to find for some reason... Thanks!

Logitech makes a USB-powered backlit keyboard but it is for Windows PCs. You should check its Web site to see if it has a similar one for Macs.

  • How does one continue to use Mail on the early MacBook Pro, Model 1,1, that is not upgradable to Lion?  I have been running iCloud on my iPhone (OS5) and iMac (Lion) along with the MacBook Pro (OS Version 10.6.8)

How does one continue to use Mail on the early MacBook Pro, Model 1,1, that is not upgradable to Lion?  I have been running iCloud on my iPhone (OS5) and iMac (Lion) along with the MacBook Pro (OS Version 10.6.8) since November until now.  Mail will no longer download on the MacBook Pro and keeps asking for my password.

Mail should still be usable with your machine - but you'll need to update the settings to conform to the requirements of your system. Check with your ISP (like ATT, etc.) for the settings that will work with your Mail. Once you've updated this, you should be able to email like before.
For example, my ISP required that I go to Mail Preferences/Accounts and make sure the details conform to your email settings.
I have no idea of what your ISP is or what the settings might be, but this is likely the source of the problem.

Today I called a few stores and Apple Authorized Service Provider in my country, Croatia. All they told me, whether from ignorance or do not know why ... Do I have to buy onlyoriginal HDD to Apple because we second HDD my MacBook Pro will not recognize. I do not know what to do. HDD 2.5", 750GB, 5400 RPM or 7200 RPM, 8 or 16 MB of Cash in the IT shop costs around 60 USD, while the Apple service costs 150 USD. Now what to do, buy a SATA III drive 2.5" in the IT shop or twice as expensive as the Apple service. Please help me !!
Has anyone tried to put the MacBook Pro HDD drive that is not branded with the Apple label. And if there were any problems with the disc recognition by the MacBookPro.
Thank you all for your help.

  • Are SACDs fully compatible with the MacBook Pro?

I'm a huge Tolkien appreciator, and I absolutely love Howard Shore's incredible scores for Peter Jackson's film adaptions of The Lord of the Rings. The Complete Recordings of each film come with a double-sided SACD of the score, which does play in the DVD Player application on my MacBook Pro (late 2011), but I'm not sure if it's actually getting the full sound quality from the SACD. Does anyone know if the MacBook Pro's system takes full advantage of the multiple channels on the SACD?
    Thanks!

    Hello John...
You may have a Safari third party add on installed that was compatible with the previous version of Safari but not 5.1. Try troubleshooting > Safari: Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
FYI... this is a user to user forum. If you can't resolve the issue, information for contacting AppleCare  here.

MacBook Air: thin, light, fast SSD storage. Cons: not upgradable, expensive.
MacBook Pro: cheaper, upgradable, better graphics card, more storage and RAM for the buck.  Cons: not as light
you'll get more for the money with the MacBook Pro. the Air is better as a second computer for people.
