SuperDrives wear out - it seems that yours might be on the verge of a mechanical failure. I'd just replace it, buying a new drive from Other World Computing and installing it yourself (because Apple would charge a small fortune).

Anyone else have problems after QT 7.3 update? My FCE is dead in the water
Since updating my QT to 7.3 my FCE will no longer export using QT conversion, nor will it allow clips to be installed into the time line. An "insufficient content for edit" comes up whether I try to install between other clips already in place or when I try to install a clip at the end. My FCE is, once again, dead in the water after a QT update.
I've looked for a QT 7.3 uninstaller but to no avail.Here's what happened.
After doing everything by the book, nothing worked-except that unsufficient edit warning-so I shut down for a few minutes and figured I'd try a few things.
After doing a cold reboot I opened the existing file with 7 hours of clips. It had an opening to it which had been shortened. I tried to insert a clip, and insufficient edit popped up again. I took the clip and tried to drag it to the timeline, nothing. I went to the absolute end of the timeline, tried dropping the clip onto a clean video/audio track and it appeared. That was a start. I took the clip and moved it to the tracks with existing video and audio (V1, A1,2) and it moved toward the existing clips with no problem.
I deleted the clip from the timeline and tried to install the clip through the canvas and it took. Don't ask me how or why, but for some reason it would not allow clips onto the timeline until it was 'retrained' for lack of a better term. It is now taking clips as it did before the troubles.
I'm wondering if there was some type of 'ghost' clip which just wouldn't go away until it was overwritten manually-although overwrite through the canvas wouldn't work before. Perhaps the problem and the updates were coincidental but experience would say no. I would guess I tripped something which may be difficult to reproduce, but it's returned as it was. Thanks for reminding me to do the maintenance, it had to help in the overall. But I'll remained thrilled that it works but baffled why it didn't. -
Is anyone else experiencing problems with the Music App/listening to music via earphones?
I am experiencing problems with the music app. It randomly stops producing sound when I'm listening to music. Also, I hear a popping noise when ever I walk with my phone in my pocket while listening with earbuds/earphones. I'm thinking it's because iOS 7 is still glitchy. Hopefully the next update corrects the issues I am having.
I don't have those problems with my iPhone 5. It almost sounds like your headset isn't fully plugged in and you might be getting static from the cord rubbing against your clothing. If you are generating a static charge, it is possible that static is being interpreted by the control channel (the volume buttons, or the play/pause button inline in the headset) as commands. Does this happen with every headset, or just the one you are using now?
I use my iPhone 5 fairly heavily with the wired headset, and even a good bit with a Motorola S10HD bluetooth headset. I don't have the static issues with either, nor do I have problems with volume dropouts.
You might want to set an appointment with your local Apple Genius Bar to have them take a look. If it is just the headset, they should replace it on the spot. If it is more severe and a hardware issue with your specific iPhone 5s, they should be able to help you too. -
Experiencing difficulty logging into the home internet after iOS 7 update. It will no
to recognize the wifi. I have to reset the iPad network settings in airplane mode and the modem each time I need to use the internet. If I'm lucky the iPad will then accept the wifi code and join the network. so frustrating!Greetings,
I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.

Anyone else experiencing problems with 10.8.5?
I have an iMac mid 2007 running Mountain Lion 10.8.4, and I never had any problems with it up until I updated to 10.8.5 and experienced frequent crashes and spinning wheels of death. After 15 days I have had enough... Is it advisable to return back to 10.8.4 and stay there?

The Process tend to send via the ID that was called (i.e the iPhone Number) and these do not sync to the Mac and the Messages app there or to any other iOS device.

I had an dual display image / setup working twice for a few seconds, but then it cut out. I think there may be a problem with the thunderbolt port.
As far as I can tell you have only listed that you have a DVI monitor connected to the Mini Displayport socket (i.e. the Thunderbolt socket) via presumably the Apple Mini Displayport to DVI adapter and a DVI to DVI cable.
You don't appear to have listed what the second monitor is and how it is connected (even though not working). As such I cannot tell what may be wrong. -

I re-installed Firefox 18.02, and everytime I load a Google product my browser crashes. There is a message to download a plugin.exe, but I am afraid to download that file. Anybody else have this problem
Some people have misgivings about what Google does, but it is unlikely any add-on you download is going to be malicious if it is a main Google site.

MacBook Pro 2009 problems after latest update. Anyone else got the same issues?

A couple of nights ago I decided to update my MacBook Pro to the latest version/update. It all went fine, I installed them, rebooted it and logged into my account as usual.
Then it all started, my finder/spotlight slowed down by atleast 50%, my videofiles both .mkv and .avi started acting funny on searching and playing generally.
I then decided to go surf some on the web(safari), it went fine for the first minute. After that it didn't work at all, pages wouldn't start loading at all, and I had to quit the Safari.app and reboot it to even get the thing to work.
Is there anything I can do about this, or to rephrase: is there anyone else with the same issues?Let's see, starting at the first reply

"I updated it to the latest update" as in taking the updates that was given. I'll "explain" some more: The macbook in question didn't have any new updates in atleast the last 1,5 months, as I've been working 14h++ a day with the same things and didn't really have the time to update before the 22.March. Sorry for not stating the obvious before now, but got kinda frustrated and didn't really think thorough the question, but I'm going to try give the most information I can possibly find!

After that update my video playback started getting harder and harder, I could watch .mkv files but I'd get more and more errors or even playback stops. The macbooks performance in finder did also start slowing down.

I simply installed the updates and got prompted with the restart from the updates, followed it and then logged in after the updates was finished with the configuring.
I have now repaired and verified the permissions, and can't seem to find any difference in the performance of my macbook.

IOS 6.1 is a mess! Anyone else having problems?
I updated to 6.1 via iTunes. Duiring the update I took a screen capture while it said it had 50 seconds to go to finish updating. When update was done, iTunes said that it could not be updated and that an unknown error occurred.
So, I tried a restore with the wrong password and guess what happened? A restore occurred from the iTunes screen perspective, but the iPhone 5 asked to set up as new phone? So, I manually did a restore from the iTunes back up I did right before updating to 6.1. ITunes went along and after a while it said it could not do it. The iPhone would instantly reboot, but with partial apps and info after reboot.
Now, Texts are gone. The phone's Favorites, Recents and Voicemail are gone.
After complaining about all the issues I had since getting this phone in December and the network problems from the carrier's end, I was given unlimited LTE data for a month. Then this iOS 6.1 incedent. If I experience dropped calls again with this 6.1 then I will be complaining to the CRTC.
Anyone else experiencing problems with iOS 6.1?Plus, hundreds of Notes are gone from "On My iPhone", which could no longer be synched with an IBM clone ever since the iTunes unpgrade in Nov 2012. Apple should have placed a warning regarding this before upgrading. Seems decisions are made based on increasing profit, AND increasing internet risk, via cloud storage. I avoid internet transfer of information religiously for security reasons.
At the rate these decisions are made I predict synching Notes with Gmail, Yahoo and Microsoft will be not be an option in the future. that means Yahoo will be stuck with desktop computing or manual mobile App access only.
The only way to politely combat this is to purchase an App and avoid iCloud.

Touchscreen randomness after ios8 update on iphone5
My touchscreen behaves for a short while then after a few presses just starts randomly doing stuff I haven't even pressed and certain areas of the screen do not work then after going to lock screen and coming back it works ok but then flips out again after a few moves. Anybody else having this after ios8 update on iPhone 5.
Same problem here but it started after I updates to ios 8.0.2.... Can anybody help?!

E63 sound problems after firware update
Hi,
I installed the new ovi suite on my PC and it said there was a new firmware so I though i would install it on my E63. Since that time I am having problems with sound coming out of the phone.
After the upgrade the phone restarted and seemed normal, played the nokia sound but then there were no tones. Because the phone was fully reset, I went to setup the phone and select the ring tones and it would not play them. Also at that time I received an SMS and no tone played.
I then went into the media player and nothing played. Then all of a sudden it started to play, and all tones were back so i though it was OK.
This morning no tones again. could not change my tone either. went into the music player, plays music then I could go back and had tones.
The Firware version is now 200.21.012. Has anyone else had problems with the update?I had no problems with that update nor the v4 update available in North America. Try a reset. Here is the discussion:

my macbook pro 2.33 17 inch takes 9 minutes to start on Snow Leopard and does not go beyond the apple log start up with lion. When I am using Snow Leopard after it has finished the starting process; everything works well..it is just the 9.10 minutes
