Is anyone else having long download times?

I bought an ipod for a trip and have been trying, since YESTERDAY, to download three movies. I STILL have over an hour of time remaining (a time which has barely budged). I have cable internet which is working very well.
Is this an itunes store problem? Is this a typical download time? If so, I just paid $350 for no reason because if I can't download movies, I might as well just use my nano.
Very frustrated customer...

What exactly happens when you try to sync?
Does iTunes see the iPod?
Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
If so have you done anything like update iTunes on the computer since it last successfully synced?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Does any media now sync to the iPod?
Do you have the right boxes checked to sync?

Close All Open Apps... Sign Out of your Account... Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

If no joy...
Reset all settings
Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings.
This will return all iDevice settings to factory defaults... you will not lose any data.... But you will have to re-enter all of the device settings.

I actually figured it out. If you just go directly to iTunes, open the Redeem Code page, and input your promotional code without ever going to the website it tells you to, it works splendedly. Not sure why letting the website open iTunes screws it up.

The first thing to try is to temporarily disable any antivirus or antispyware you have on your computer. Those utiltiies can block successful download.

Anyone else having problems downloading samples from the iBooks store?

But when I get to the store and click 'Get Sample', nothing happens.
I can't seem to find any other discussion on this in the forums (perhaps I wasn't looking hard enough). Anyone else have this problem? Any ways around it? I don't get an error message, but my mouse pointer seems to "hang" for a second after clicking the button, as if something's about to happen. Nothing does.

i am having slow download speeds ever since the apple keynote... is this the new data center speeds?... is this what we should expect from now on?

for me the fix was to take my network off OpenDNS servers... and back to my ISP's DNS.... and instant fix...
disappointing, as i liked the service from them...

It appears that though the progress bar looks stuck on "Step 1: Gathering info..." that Match is going through my library and adding "Purchased" songs first. I have 2,000+ purchased songs and after enabling Match on my laptop I currently have 1152 songs available to me in the cloud. SO, I am happy to report that it appears to be functioning, just happening way slower than I anticipated. As Michael posted above..patience is definitely a virtue in this case! It's been way over 12 hours, but again, happy to report it is working.

my laptop died on me and i purchased a new vaio running windows 8 but i am having problems installing itunes onto it. i have finally been able to save it to my downloads folder but thats all i can do, i cant run the programme i just wondered if anyone had any advice please

Follow this link to a person who has had the same problem and "Digital Girl"s fix seems to work as I am downloading apps now on my iPhone and on my macbook. Once the phone is done, I'm going to confirm that it worked as well on the other computer as well.

Hi mswinger, I'll do my best to try and help, go to the terminal and put lookupd -flushcache if that doesn't work, you can try sudo dscacheutil -flushcache while logged out of iTunes.
Is there an "ampersand" in your account details: name: address, etc? Or is there a "period"? If so, you could try removing those, click update, then go to your billing detaisl and see if there is anything that needs to be updated.
Clearing the DNS Cache might help with speed and reset any error messages you are getting with any downloads in waiting.
I hope you'll able to get it working.

I got my new iPhone4 on 6/28. I have it attached to my iTune account and during the synch the software is attempting to update (4.2.6 to 4.2.8). I accept the T&C and the download starts and takes between 6 and 8 minutes. Just before it completes I get the following error message "There was a problem downloading the software. The network connection timed out - try again later (652.7MB of 652.8MB stopped (err_ -3259). This has happened several times to me now. How can I get this fixed?

Anyone else having a hard time logging into synch accts?

Okay so for a few weeks now, im unable to use mobile to log into walmart and amazon accts. it always says the network connection is lost, even though no other pages have that problem, wifi or 3g is strong. Happens on both. And when i go through desktop, it always says:

I have to do it like 3-4 times before it finally works. Annoying to say the least. I figured it was technical difficulties and would be fine in a week or two, but its still happening.

It happens =/ Sometimes uninstalling and reinstalling will fix it. I didnt have it happen with my synch cards but it happen with my Chase and Discover, one fixed with a reinstall, the other fixed with the next update. (After a few weeks)

Anyone else having trouble downloading Empire Total War?

I recently purchased Empire: Total War from the app store. I have a late 2011 13-inch Mac Book Pro. It runs 4 gb of RAM and has 200 free gb of storage. Usually, my computer is very fast in regards to downloading. However, this app has been "downloading" for around 3 hours and has made seemingly no progress. I know 12gb is a large file but I have downloaded similar sized files in the past and have had no problems. I read some comments detailing a similar problem with other users, specifically when d/l ETW from the app store. Is this a sign that the game will not download? What course of action is necessary to rectify this problem if it persists?

My AppStore is showing them in the free apps section but when I try to download it it's trying to charge the full price for the app

New devices activated after Sep 1, 2013 and running iOS 7 or later will qualify for the free iWork suite (Pages, Keynote, & Numbers). iPhoto, and iMovie (which are not part of iWork) are also free. If you activated your device before Sep 1, 2013, your device does not qualify.
Try this:
Go here to verify your device registration (you'll need to login using your Apple ID credentials):

You can view your registered device(s) here and if there are any you've missed registering, you can do that as well. You can also register new devices here. Afterwards, visit the App Store and your free apps should be available to you.
*IF* this does not work, continue as follows:
Log out of the iTunes Store on your device:
Settings>iTunes & App Store...tap your Apple ID, then select "Sign Out"
Reset your device:
Device Reset (won't affect settings/data/music/apps/etc)
1. Press and hold (& continue to hold) BOTH the Sleep/Wake button & the Home button.
2. Continue to hold BOTH (ignoring any other messages that may show) until you see the Apple logo on the screen.
3. Release BOTH buttons when you see the Apple logo and allow the device to boot normally.
After the device has restarted, sign back in to the App Store as above. Try to download the apps again from the App Store.
