Yes I know some people are lucky but I know for some it does not work a Core Audio problem related to rewire?
Here is a digidesign site, but since your system work there is no need to investigate for you but for the other 50% read this:

  • Anyone got one to work with Leopard yet?

Posted this Rant at the end of another Topic, slightly OT so reposting here (with some additions):
I wish I could report that iTunes 7.6 broke my apple tv, because that would mean it had been working up until very recently. Sadly however, it hasn't been used since i put leopard on my media server (mac mini).
I bough one of the first batch of 40Gb ones before there were 160Gb ones, and have had to remove and re-add it to iTunes (streaming) every time i used it until leopard. now it will sometimes put in a fleeting appearance when removing a disk or plugging in an iPod.
Once it was even there long enough to tell it to sync one film. Since leopard my work around has been to remove and add it again but with syncing not streaming then sync the one film or tv show that is required. unfortunately this has only worked once.
What have I Tried To fix this i hear you cry well...
    Under Tiger:
complete os rebuild, disabling firewall, rebuilding mac subnet from ground up playing sequentially with advanced router properties (yes i do know what i am doing, I'm a paid IT Technician) calling in a friend with networking and IT communications degree to help, calling in father with 20 years corporate network design experience.
End result? nothing changed in the way my network was setup, as nothing was wrong with the way i had it set up to begin with (that said the initial setup of the router justifies a whole f*ing essay). during this time all mac's at all times had current software. i took all software updates hoping for a fix. in the mean time using the workaround described above.
    Under Leopard:
Are you Joking? even less functionality. after reading up and discovering you CAN'T DISABLE the leopard firewall yet, devised new work around (as above) worked once, gave up. too much to deal with with wifi connections under leopard dropping out continuously.
Result: useless piece of kit with truly wonderful and sleek looking software interface.
I think a large part of the problem is my laughable router which seems to flake out requiring a cold restart multiple times a day. (airport extreme 'n' 1st generation).
Both are just under a year old. I'll wait for 10.5.2 + Apple TV update + update to airport extreme base station (hopefully when time caplsule comes out).
If this doesn't resolve all my issues I'll just return ATV + AEBS, call it a day with apple networking and get a netgear n router, and one of those network HDD's with video playing capability and a tv output and hook both things up by my tv. no video conversion to itunes required. wireless n access to my media. half the cost, job done.
Don't get me wrong, mac's are still amazing but these two devices have shattered my faith in apple products, unless it's a mac or an iPod, I'll steer clear in future.
I would go back to Tiger but it is too much hassle now. They'll fix the WIFI and the firewall in 10.5.2 at which point there'll be nothing to stop me using my machines with leopard. updates for pro software continue to be released and nearly all of my applications worked with a clean install anyway.
Back to the topic, has anyone else got an ATV with leopard that does nothing at all? i want to be able to say to them that the product they sold me is not fit for purpose and return it under that premise.
Also if anyone has a fix (non voodoo please) I'd gladly eat my hat and just start using the bloody thing, albeit 10 months after purchase.

You say you tried switching off the firewall i tried that too and your quite right it seems that it will not work with the firewall off. as turning it off does not turn it off.
sos10: "I did make sure however iTunes wasn't on the list in the Firewall settings."
The list your talking about (if you're talking about the leopard firewall) is the list of programs WITH access. so if you have it set to: "set access for specific services and applications"; iTunes would have to be in that list with "allow all incoming connections".
The only other setting is essential services only which doesn't work. As this doesn't include the port we need to get a connection.
out of the three the one that works the most is the: "set access for specific services and applications"
iTunes - "allow all incoming connections"
This i when i get the odd reminder vis the devices list that i have a useless £200 electrical device heating up my front room.
Maybe this wouldn't be such a problem if you could actually open a port in a firewall (shock horror). I know they'd have to hide the option away somewhere so as not to mess up the simplicity of the interface!

  • Anyone else having a Problem with Leopard and Photoshop CS3?

I'm using CS3 with Leopard 10.5.4 at work and there are some very aggravating anomalies, that I'd like to nail down to a cause. Most frequently, when switching from apps to P'Shop, the menu bar stays for the previous app, i.e. when going from Finder to P'shop, the menu bar still says Finder and has Finder options. Changing from Lightwave to P'Shop, the menu bar remains Lightwave.
Occasionally, an Adobe app - P'Shop or InDesign - will simply disappear and not come back. The icon in the dock shows it as active, but no amount of clicking, Command-Tabbing will reveal the app and I have to Force Quit, losing unsaved changes.
I have a feeling it's Leopard, since, I've used CS3 on Tiger and CS4 on Tiger and never had a problem.
I'm wondering if upgrading to the latest Leopard would make much of a difference.
Has anyone come across this and found any kind of answers?
    Thanks for any suggestions.

    > Just because it doesn't happen to Phil (who may not use all of the same features of the Suite that others do anyway) does NOT mean that these problems are not real and are not mere PEBCAK.
Right. If someone is having a problem associated with Tiger, it's PEBAK. If Leopard is involved, it's automatically because of Leopard. Apparently, with Apple's latest OS, trouble shooting problems are no longer necessary - just blame it on Leopard and call it a day.
    b FUD
I find the dynamics here really interesting. This thread would have been very different if Vincent had posted with problems involving Tiger. Would have gone something like this:
After admonishing him for not providing more information about his setup by posting the obnoxious big blue link on how to ask questions (ahem - we know NOTHING about his machine or configuration, such as which machine, how much RAM, scratch disk or attached peripherals), there'd be all kinds of trouble shooting advice given - "try a new user", "repair permissions", "run DiskWarrior, and on and on ...
But no, since he mentions Leopard, none of that is apparently necessary and the completely, utterly
    b irresponsible
advice is given ... "that's just the way Leopard is".
Those are some serious problems he's reporting that have nothing to do with Leopard. Something is obviously hosed!
As for discounting my experience because I don't use every app in the suite as extensively as I do Photoshop, I'm FAR more qualified to discuss Leopard and CS issues than Ann or Neil who do not use Leopard at all (and have never used it as far as I know.)
"Others have problems with it", is their battle cry but it's extremely weak. Do I really need to remind you all that these forum are ALWAYS filled with people who have problems, regardless of version or OS? You act as if this forum was a ghost town when Tiger and CS3 were current!
Gee, Ann ... people are STILL reporting problems with 10.5 and CS3? How shocking! Guess what - people are STILL reporting problems with 10.4 and CS3 too! Let me make a prediction - people will have problems with 10.8 and CS9!
    Vincent-
    > I don't really deal with fonts anyway ...
Yes. You do. Even if you never type a single line of text, every application uses fonts to create menus and other GUI items. If one of those fonts are bad, it can create all kinds of problems, including the very problems you mention.
The fact that you don't seem aware of this and you're still using 10.5.4 leads me to believe you're not familiar with the basic practices of maintaining a healthy system. Again, how did you install Leopard on that machine?
Look, if you're simply trying to justify using CS4, go right ahead. It's a worthwhile upgrade in it's own right. However, if you install it on that machine in it's current state, CS4 will NOT fix your problems because you do NOT have a healthy system.
You asked for experiences with Leopard - I can launch every application in both CS3 and CS4 suites
    i simultaneously,
and STILL not have your issues. I haven't experienced anything like your CS3 problems in Leopard - on both a 2006 Mac Pro and a 2008 Macbook.
If you'd like help to try and figure out the real problem, I'm more than happy to help. If not, Adobe will gladly take your money ...

  • Does anyone know if Fusion works with Leopard?

I have a new 20" iMac, 2.4 ghz., with 3 gb ram. I'm running Fusion now in order to run some PC programs not available on the Mac. Fusion runs great in Tiger, so I'm wondering if anyone yet is running Fusion or Parallels in Leopard?
I played around yesterday with a 24" iMac running Leopard and I was very pleased with the performance and the features. I know according to Fusion, the program suppose work with Leopard, but I thought I would check with some of the users here. BTW, I already ordered my new OS from Amazon waiting for it to ship.
Thanks in advance for any help or information you people can give.

    happyme2 wrote:
Thanks for your quick reply. Are you using Fusion with Leopard, or are you just quoting their website? Also when I get Leopard from Amazon I am just planning on doing an upgrade install. Will I have to reinstall Fusion and my windows programs or will they be left untouched?
Fusion DID in fact work on the pre-releases of Leopard, I've seen screens of it in action.
Also, Windows is placed on a seperate partition from OS X, so it should remain untouched, BUT I'd be prepared to reinstall Windows in case something goes screwy.
    Hope this helps you out.

  • Is anyone running the NEC LCD2690WUXi² with Nvidia GT120 or ATI Radion 4870

ive heard these are possibly not compatible with the latest "Nehalem" spec mac pros graphics cards - any truth to this?
can anyone tell me what are best 3rd party IPS Panel monitors out there that work?
lastly is 2 x 24" or 26" monitors best for video editing - i cant imagine running 2 x 30" screens, it must be overwhelming to manage from so close, must be more suited to photography/design?

    Hi GForceSA
If you can afford the extra cost buy the NEC Multisync LCD3090WQXi. In the UK mine cost me just over £300.00 more than the 30" Cinema Display, but there is no comparison between the two. The Cinema Display was state of the art when it was introduced (about 4 years ago?), but the NEC Multisync is in a different league altogether. I have been using one for 4 months connected to an 8-Core 2.93Ghz 2009 Mac Pro with 6GB RAM, 640GB Hard Drive, and GT120 Graphics Card and its colour fidelity is fantastic. You can also buy it in a silver finish, which looks great alongside a Mac Pro.
In my opinion the Spectraview version is not worth the vast premium it commands over the Multisync. I use my display for photo editing and digital imaging, and I bought a ColorMunki Photo for accurate monitor to print calibration. With the money I saved from not buying the Spectraview, I purchased a Wacom Intuos 4 A4 Graphics Pad, which is far better than a mouse for editing purposes, and I still had some change left over!
I have had no problems at all using the GT120, but I have just ordered the Radeon HD4870, because I will be using an Epson V750 Pro plus Silverfast Ai software to scan my collection of 35mm film negatives & transparencies onto my system, and each of them will have a file size of 40MB or more. After they have been edited in Aperture2/Photoshop Elements 8, some of then will then be printed up to A2 size on an Epson Stylus Pro 3880. So I thought it was time to invest in a faster graphics card.
The difference in screen space between 26" and 30" displays is very substantial, so, if you can, buy the larger size. Certainly I am very glad that I did!

  • Has anyone run into an issue with their hotmail account being hacked on ios 6 ?

Im noticing that I am getting strange MALIER DEAMON emailsadvising me that my email to whomever could not be sent.I have preiously run into this issue and it turned out my yahoo account had been hacked when I began getting those messages. Has this happened to anyone else?

    Try this:
Go to System Preferences - Bluetooth. Delete the keyboard from the list of devices by pressing the "-" button. Take the batteries out of the keyboard and reinsert them. In Bluetooth Preferences press the '+" button to add the new device. If the keyboard begins to pair, click the word "pair" and type in the passcode. Press return. The keyboard is now paired.
If the mouse is not pairing, try this: shut down the computer completely, unplug any USB mice, then turn off the power to the bluetooth mouse.  ONce the computer starts up again, wait for the pop-up looking for a mouse.  Turn on the power to the bluetooth mouse.  It should work normally now.

  • Anyone running RH on Mac with VMWare Fusion?

Seriously disgruntled with Microsoft after a weekend
troubleshooting issus on my pc and getting nowhere. I'm at a point
where I either have to buy a new PC running Vista, or make the leap
to Mac. Have talked to a couple of friends who prefer VMFusion to
BootCamp or Parallels, but none of them are technical writers. I
use RoboHelp extensively (will likely be upgrading to RH8 and
generating AIR Help for a new, huge project), and also use the rest
of the Tech Comm Suite quite a bit. Have several customers who I
still have to create manuals for in Word (blah)too. Appreciate any
input as this is a major (and expensive) decision!
    Thanks,

Yeah, I noticed that. However, I know there are others
currently running RH on Mac (founds some posts from November). A
year ago, I would've been the last person to ever consider making
the leap to Mac. But after talking to several people who insist
that the kind of setup I'm considering is the best of both worlds,
I'm really giving it some thought. Adobe's "official" support isn't
an issue for me as I've never called them, and worst case scenario,
I will still have my 1-year-old PC running XP to fall back on once
I reformat the hard drive and start fresh with it.

  • Does anyone have GIMP working *properly* with Leopard?

If so, how did you get it working? It is killing me that I can't use GIMP for the time being.

I rarely use GIMP, but I did launch and run it in Leopard just to see if it would, and it did. I opened an image, cropped it, inverted colors, added a new layer, changed the mode of interacting between the layers, and resaved as a psd file. Everything seemed to be working fine. I just copied over the last version I had in Tiger and double clicked it. X11 launched, then a slight pause, the GIMP splash screen appeared, did its loading, and it was up and running. The Tiger version I copied was GIMP-2.4-rc3-intel, which I had downloaded a month or so ago.

  • Keynote 1.1.1 with Leopard 10.5.3

    Anyone have this working?
I try to launch Keynote, it tries to load a theme, and bam!
Keynote unexpectedly quit...blah blah. please quit and relaunch the application.
On top of that, I have had more kernel panics in the last 2-3 weeks since updating to Leopard than I had in the past 3-4 years =(
I thought each subsequent update of OS X was a surprisingly nice upgrade. Until now.
p.s. I know my hardware is a little older, but still should work fine with Leopard - shouldn't it?

Welcome to the discussions, Ganz Toll.
Keynote has always depended heavily on the underlying OS in order to do what it can do. In other words, instead of having it's on 3D engine within it, it simply called the underlying OS functions that performed the task.
Between the release of 1.1.1 and now, those underlying functions have changed quite a bit. It could be that a function Keynote wants was deprecated in a later release of the OS and then finally removed either prior to or as of 10.5. (If you check your console log, does that give any clues?)
I don't think anyone has successfully run 1.1.1 with Leopard yet.

  • Use of Lightroom 1.1 with Leopard

    Hey guys,
I currently run Lightroom 1.1 with Mac OS 10.4.11. I'd like to upgrade to Leopard, but I'm wondering if I'll have problems with Lightroom when I do so.
Has anyone had any experience of this ? or can you give me some useful advice ?
    Many thanks for your time,
    John.

    Lightroom runs fine in Leopard.
BTW: you would be better served by upgrading to Lightroom 1.4.1 (free upgrade from 1.1). Lightroom 2.x (paid upgrade) adds many more features and is capable of running in 64bit mode with Leopard.

  • Can I use InDesign CS with Leopard?

Is anyone successfully using InDesign CS with Leopard?

    Hi Tim
I came across the very useful blog recently:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/indesignchannel/2007/11/indesignleopard_updateiii.html
by Tim Cole which may help to explain the problem you (like me!) are having. If you can't be bothered to read it all then the gist is that this is an Apple problem which they know about and are trying to fix (no date for release as yet). It relates specifically to IDCS3 and Leopard, in particular the linking of files that is unique to ID as opposed to the other Adobe programs (other CS3 programs are unaffected I think). For me the only workable solution has been to trash the ID preferences file which can be a nuisance (as you have reset prefs afterwards) but it has enabled me to continue using IDCS3. The problem appears to affect those using PowerPC more than Intel machines. For those having problems with CS and CS2 you should be aware that Adobe have no plans to make these versions compatible with Leopard; not now, not ever! Check the Adobe site for a list of compatible software (yes, IDCS3 is listed but as mentioned this is not an Adobe problem). Why Apple have not made an announcement about this is quite beyond me.
    Hope this is useful.

  • Printing problems with Leopard

Using Macbook pro and loaded Leopard. Using Airpot network and Xerox Phaser 4500DT. With Leopard I can't print documents - the printer goes into self-test mode when I send a Word/Excel doc and then freezes. Document needs to be deleted from printer queue and then printed again. Anyone else having problems printing with Leopard? Mac Support argues that Xerox need to develop new rinter driver for Leopard.

I think i figured it out ... Apple has intentionally disabled printing because this is a way to control the manufacturers who stole laser printing and ink jet printing technology and started mass producing these items—filling stores with clones of clones. Did you notice Apple stopped making printers a decade ago?
Its either that or this is a simulation to control the market when paper shortages become a reality. All our computers will be disabled immediately via a meta bot that activates wirelessly with your computer even if you don't even connect to the internet.
Pretty Cool Eh ! I just made that up now.

  • Does Lab Tick keyboard backlight control work with Leopard?

My Dad got a new MacBook Pro and wants the backlighting to stay on most of the time. Lab Tick was recommended in another thread, but it sounds a little iffy because it uses undocumented APIs and I don't want to recommend something that might break his machine. (I can't try it because I have a regular MacBook without the keyboard backlighting.) So I'm wondering if anyone has tried Lab Tick with Leopard and how it's working for you. Or are there any other methods to turn on backlighting permanently? I found one that involved manually setting a preference; that may work in previous systems, but doesn't seem to stick in Leopard.

I am really sorry that I did not get around to fixing this earlier. I have released Lab Tick 0.6.4 today which contains a new menu bar icon with a transparent background, so it looks fine on Leopard. Also, it includes a 512x512 pixel icon for the application itself, so it will also look great in CoverFlow.
You can download the new version at http://labtick.proculo.de/ or you can simply use the application's update mechanism.
    Hope that helps.
    Cheers,
    Alex

  • WRT54GC with Leopard

My iBook G4 can't see my wireless network. I have an older WRT54GC that I used to use with Tiger. Last year I moved and used a different router and upgraded to Leopard. Now I'm back with my old WRT54GC, but my laptop doesn't see the wireless network at all. My ipod touch can see/use the network, so I know it's there. The router is even set to broadcast the SSID, which I generally don't do. I've tried with and without WPA2. Any suggestions? Is anyone successfully using a WRT54GC with Leopard? Thanks, Alex

Solved. I'd set the channel to 13, which I guess older american cards can't pick up. According to the wikipedia, american channels only go 1-11, european ones go 1-13, and japanese go to 14 or 15... Anyway, I set the channel to 11 and it seems happy now. Alex

  • Syncing Palm 680 with Leopard

Has anyone successfully synced a 680 with Leopard? The Apple tech got it working yesterday but it didn't hold. Missing Sync didn't work either, and damaged enough files that I had to reload Leopard and reconstruct my programs/data. Apple says it's Palm's problem; Palm says it's Apple's problem. And Palm doesn't even have 10.5. as an option to register for this forum. Syncing worked like a charm with Tiger, but this is turning into a nightmare.
Post relates to: Treo 680 (AT&T)

After recently installing Leopard on my IMac, I could not sync my Treo 680 any longer.
The way I managed to sync it again was:
    1. by changing the Desktop to version 4.2.1
    2. changing on the desktop the HotSync Connection Setting to bluetooth...nc-port and choosing under Settings: fastest possible.
    3. clicking on the handheld, the Hotsynch icon
And lo and behold, it syncd.
