Is anyone using Events beyond 10h content?

someone told me, he noticed, that audio gets lost, if you import more than 10h content into one Event. never heard of that 'effect', ... and I'm too lazy to re-enact such a situation on my Mc.
anyone?

My longest event is maybe 2 hours. What is he recording? Maybe all day lollapalooza rock concerts?
that was my first reaction: an EVENT, by concept, is a 'day's recording' ... even spending the whole day in some Disney theme-park, I couldn't collect more than 4-5h ...
But I don't understand, how the 'mass/mess' of data should infect audio-playback?
(Can't figure how how to do those winking emoticons, but if I could, I would insert one here!)
such?
it is like adding any other picture here, you need a 'source' for smilies, I'm using these:

    Is this a known issue?

for each loader created, create a movieclip and add your loader to the movieclip.  assign all the properties you want to retrieve later to the movieclip and assign your event listeners to the movieclip.

  • Does anyone else use a PDF form to extract data they can then use to populate Dynamic Content in Ill

Does anyone else use a PDF form to extract data they can then use to populate Dynamic Content in Illustrator?

You can connect the form to the DB using anODBC connection. This functionality comes as part of Acrobat but the form must be Reader Extended by the full LiveCycle Server version of Reader Extension to allow this in Reader. In your case, if your system is the only on ethat will interact with the DB then this might be a viable solution (but you woudl have to use Acrobat). This solution woudl involve create an ODBC connection in your system then configuring the form to make use of that connection.
    Does that make sense?

  • Anyone using Java Portlet Tools?

Is anyone using the Java Portlet Tools to develop portlets?
You can read about it here:
    http://dev2dev.bea.com/pub/a/2006/05/java-portlet-tools.html
I was told by BEA that this is unsupported but I don't think thats going to be a problem.
If you are not using this then how do you build portlets in java without resorting to scriptlet code?

    Thanks for the reply Chris.
It looks like the portlet tools does 3 things:
1 - filters content like the DotNet WCC http module to make existing apps behave when run inside the portal
2 - drops a bean in the request automatically for you so that you can access portlet functionality on the jsp with JSTL and no scriptlet code
3 - gives you some custom tags to read and write session prefs and publish and subscribe to events without javascript
Items 2 and 3 are very desirable to me for new portlet development.
So who is using this toolkit and are you using it with JSF or Struts or just straight JSP?

  • Anyone using a 4K monitor with FCP X?

Is anyone using FCP X on a 4K monitor? I'm thinking about getting a Dell 4K monitor as my main monitor but I'm a little worried the user interface support on 4K is weak. I think everything is going to look super tiny.
    Has anyone already experienced this?
    Thanks!

So I have my new Mac Pro set up. 8-Core, 32 gigs RAM, Dual 700 GPUs, 512 gig internal Flash drive.
I purchased the 27" Thunderbolt display as my main Final Cut Pro X screen and I have the Dell UP2414q 4K monitor plugged in as the Viewer display.
I have the Dell set to "Best for Display" and it works fine. I have some 4480 x 1920 RED footage and I have the FCP X Viewers on the Dell. The footage is set to 100% and it bleeds a little off the sides, as it should since the monitor is 3820 wide. It's at its native resolution.
The user interface elements of the second monitor are at normal size - the menu bar, the FCP X view options. Buying a 4K monitor and using Best for Display gives you the desktop the size of a typical 1080 monitor, but it all looks like a Retina display. It's very crisp.
So if you want a second monitor to hold a ton of Adobe palettes, and have a very large desktop, I'd recommend getting a Thunderbolt display, beause this display behaves like a 1080 monitor in that regard. If you want a 4K monitor specifically for color grading 4K footage at the native size so you can see all the artifacts and things you wouldn't see with the footage at 50%, this Dell monitor is fine and it's $890 on Amazon. It's not a professional color grader's monitor, obviously, but it does well for me.
I took some 4480 x 1920 RED footage that had a sky that was gray (the famous Mercedes in the mountains footage). I used the color picker color correction in FCP X and was able to select that sky very easily. I can see why the fat 4K footage is so great in regards to color grading. Because you don't have the massive color gradiation and artifacts you get in the more compressed media, when you use the color picker, it selects a very large, clean, section of the sky. I was able to quickly make the sky more saturated and blue and play it in real time (Better Performance) it's it's perfectly clean with no halos around the tree branches as they move into the foreground of the sky. Very nice!
Nice feature in FCP X is all the effects, transitions, etc., have a "4K-ready content only" button at the top so it only presents you with effects and transitions that work with 4K footage.
It took a lot of time calibrating this Dell monitor. It has the Adobe RGC color space built in but when I set it to that and set the OS X Display color option to Adobe RGB, it all had a very slight purple/pink huge. Very slight. Whites were not pure white like they are on the Thunderbolt and my blue sky had a tinge of pink to it.
I calibrated it with advanced options in the OS X Display preferences. I then connected my Samsung HD LED TV into the HDMI port of the Mac Pro and set it as my A/V display in FCP X. I was able to do the custom color setting on the Dell monitor itself and lower the saturation and RGB values. It took about 15 minutes to get it looking right. Now, I don't see the very slight purple/pink tink. My blue sky looks blue, etc., and it looks exactly how it will look on DVD and Blu-ray and projectors at film festivals.
The Samsung LED TV was a breeze to use. As soon as I plugged it into the HDMI port of the Mac Pro, the displays changed and OS X went to 1920 x 1080 60hz. The color was set to an HD color preset (I forget the number and I disconnected it). Arranging the multiple monitors is as you'd expect, just works.
BTW, I have 2 10 TB 5Big Lacie Thunderbolt 2 hard drives. They are about $1K each at 10 TBs. I have one for my footage and one as a backup with Time Machine. No formatting necessary - just plug them in and go. I plugged in the first one, told OS X no for Time Machine. Plugged in the second one, told Time Machine yes. Renamed the second drive "Backup". I turned off hard drive sleep becuase it's annoying. You hear it spin up, spin down, spin up, etc. as you work.
I used the AJA benchmark and this is what I got with 16 gig test file, 4K video simulation:
    Write 740.3 MB/s
    Read: 849.1 MB/s
    Fast!
FCP X loads in 4 seconds on this system off the internal Flash drive.
    Cheers!

  • Use Events or delegates in my application??

I am trying to implements events in c#. my scenario is that there will be multiple events and there will be multiple events listeners to an event(many to many relationship).
the problem here is since there are many events and if i implement all in one class, maintaining code will a tough task, and if i create one class per event there will be too many classes.
I found a solution which has an event broker in this link: http://msforge.net/blogs/paki/archive/2007/11/20/EventBroker-implementation-in-C_2300_-full-source-code.aspx
but here the author is using delegates only instead of events. he is maintaining a dictionary wherein he is saving some event ID as key and list of delegates as value. this solves my problem of code maintenance.
my question is that is it fine to do this way since behind the scenes an event is a construct that wraps a delegate only or use events which c# is already providing rather than maintaining a dictionary?
which one is a better way in terms of performance or any other way?
Also is there any better way to implement my scenario with events
    Please provide your inputs.

You should take a look at the event aggregator pattern:
    http://martinfowler.com/eaaDev/EventAggregator.html
I have written a blog post about how to communicate between classes using the event aggregator class that is included in Prism here:
    http://blog.magnusmontin.net/2014/02/28/using-the-event-aggregator-pattern-to-communicate-between-view-models/
Prism is a framework for building composite XAML based applications from the Microsoft Patterns and Practices Team:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg406140.aspx. But even if you are not developing a XAML based application, the concepts and many of the components are still useful.
Another popular framework out there is MvvmLight which uses a Messenger class to handle this kind of communication:
    https://marcominerva.wordpress.com/2014/06/25/how-to-send-string-and-content-messages-with-mvvm-light-messenger/
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/16993918/mvvm-light-messenger-sending-and-registering-objects
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/dn745866.aspx
    Hope that helps.

  • Am I the only one that uses Events like Albums?

Ever since the iPhoto '06 days (now on iPhoto '11), I've been using Events like Albums.  Like the event "Niece" where I put all the pictures of my niece, rather than create an Album for it.  I just like the visual layout of Events better, never really got into the Albums feature much.
Does anyone else do this, or is it just me?  Are there any drawbacks to doing this?  Is there ever a circumstance where an Album would be better?

Photos in Events can only be sorted by date while those in albums can be sorted by title, date, keyword, manually and rating.
To assemble all photos of your niece together you could create a Smart Album with the criteria Keyword contains niece.  Then as you import new batches of photos into its event go thru and add the appropriate keyword to those photos containing your niece.  All automatic. They will show up in the smart album for your niece.
Your method is more like file organization in the Finder rather than digital asset management like iPhoto does.

  • Has anyone managed to embed flash content within there responsive HTML5 website?

Has anyone managed to embed flash content within there responsive HTML5 website? I'm aiming to get my client gallery Flash based but don't want to sacrifice my responsive HTML5 layout to achieve this.
I feel the Flash gallery would be more secure than my current option,
    Thanks in advance
    Katie xx
    http://www.katiegarcha.com

It dawned on me what the problem was, in my Actionscript, I am using a XML sheet to call the pictures in the gallery. The XML sheet is located in the same folder as the actionscript, but not in the same folder as the html page, hence the Flash working when it is directly called but not when it is somewhere else. Once this dawned on me, I remembered that I used "short" urls for the images thinking of them all being in the same folder as the actionscript, but not thinking about their relative link from the location of the HTML page. So, I believe that if I change the relative urls to fit the location of the HTML instead of the location of the SWF page, it should work.

  • Is anyone using a 1252 ap in bridge mode with channel bonding?

Is anyone using a 1252 ap in bridge mode, with channel bonding?
I had a question a while ago from a customer with regards to bridging with a 1252 ap to increase throughput for a wireless link he was using, from the throughput improvements in 802.11n. At the time I spoke to Cisco Pre-Sales, and they indicated that the bridge function in the 1252 exists for 'testing' purposes. I advised our customer that although it should be possible to implement, we may run into difficulties with TAC support ect. in the event of problems with the link.
Can anyone comment if this is a Cisco validated/approved design now?
Also, has anyone done this and tested the throughput achievable?
Has anyone bridged both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz radios on a 1252?
The reason I ask is I've seen a note about a Cisco 5Ghz 802.11n bridge being launched.
    Thanks in advance.
    Alex.

    Hi All,
Thanks for all the feedback; I have finally done some throughput testing with the 1252's. Please note, this is very rough, just to give an idea on throughput that's achievable, and what you can enable. Did this a few weeks back, and have now wiped the cnf, so dont have the show runs any more....
The two devices were set up a few feet apart, with the standard 2dBi and 3dBi antenna.
All tests done on the 5GHz radio with Autonomous AP IOS.
I did data transfers via a laptop either end of the link; transferring data using the Test TCP utility (wasn't going for scientific tests, just getting some idea of throughput).
    802.11a @ 54mbs (20Mhz chan) WGB - root to non root = 2.43 - 2.5MB/Sec = 19.44 - 20 Mbps
    802.11a @ 54mbs (20Mhz chan) WGB non root to root = 2.42 - 2.44MB/Sec = 19.44 - 20 Mbps
    802.11n @ 'n' rates( 20Mhz chan) WGB root to non root = 6.18 - 6.33MB/Sec = 49.44 - 50.64 Mbps
    802.11n @ 'n' rates ( 20Mhz chan) WGB non root to root = 4.77 - 5.00MB/Sec = 38.16 - 40 Mbps
    802.11n @ 'n' rates ( 40Mhz chan) WGB root to non root = 8.59 - 8.58MB/Sec = 68.64 - 68.64 Mbps
    802.11n @ 'n' rates ( 40Mhz chan) WGB non root to root = 6.35 - 7.20MB/Sec = 50.8 - 57.6 Mbps
    802.11n @ 'n' rates ( 40Mhz chan) Bridge root to non root = 9.73 - 10MB/Sec = 77.84 - 80 Mbps
    802.11n @ 'n' rates ( 40Mhz chan) Bridge non root to root = 8.40 - 8.57MB/Sec = 67.2 - 68.56 Mbps
So basically, as per the above posts, you can implement bridging on the 1252's and utilise the 802.11n rates and features, SGI, Spatial Streams and Channel Bonding etc, to achieve higher throughput.
Also, as per the above posts, this is still not supported by Cisco, so, in my case, I'd be highlighting that to customers straight off, but don't see it as too much of an impediment to deploy, as long as the customer weighs up the risks.
On a side note, I attended a Cisco session recently, and was told that the 802.11n Bridge, (the 1430?) was on hold indefinitely. My feeling is that this makes it more pressing that Cisco introduces support for bridging on the 1252.
Get in the ear of your local Wireless SE's, the more they hear it, the more they'll moan to the Wireless BU in San Jose! ;-)
Bridging with 802.11n has some interesting possibilities, I worked with Alvarion 5GHz bridges 6 or 7 years ago, that could do 'near LOS' - Worked well in cities, using reflection of the RF from buildings. I had never heard of 802.11n back then, but I'm guessing Alvarion was using MIMO to achieve good non-LOS connectivity in the 5GHz band.
    Cheers,
    Alex.

Recently I erased an iPhone 3 so that it could be passed on and used by someone else, using the erase all content and settings feature. This has killed my iPhone and it is now stuck on the Apple logo. I have tried a restore in iTunes but recovery fails. This is not a jailbroken iPhone. Anyone have any suggestions on how to proceed?

If you haven't already tried, see if you can force it into recovery mode to restore it:
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808.  If that doesn't work, the last thing you can try is to put it in DFU mode to restore it: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2648467?threadID=2648467&tstart=0.

  • Has anyone used the Seagate wireless plus with an iPad?

I would like to use this wireless external drive to store videos and then stream them to my iPad.  Has anyone used this drive and if so how do you like it?

    Hi everyone,
I am frustruated with the Seagate Wireless Plus. I think most of you just download movies in it and then watch it on your tablet. I thought this can be my external storage for everything including the content of my iPad. Not so easy!!! I can't see anything from the content of my iPad when I connect it wirelessly to Seagate. I wrote to Seagate and apparently there is another thing called WebDav in order to do it. I think Windows are winning here how easy it is to connect devices. Simply, I can see the demo stuff from the Seagate on my iPad but nothing the other way, no pictures, no music, no videos stored on my iPad can be seen from the Seagate. If there is somebody who can explain to me how to do it before I will return the Seagate to the retailer please do it in a way normal people understand. Don't say "I think" as most of people in these forums do, please say only "I know" and lead me step by step what to do. I have the latest iPad mini with iOS7, 32GB WiFi & Cellular with Retina display. I've already updated the Seagate OS to 2.2.0.005 exactly as they advise by installing the 2.1.0.014 prior to that.
Please forgive me for the tone but those 10 hours I spent so far without any results are too valuable to me.
    Thanks in advance. Danny.

  • Has anyone used the Essbase XTD Spreadsheet Services?

Is the Essbase Spreadsheet Services an additional cost above and beyond the spreadsheet add-in?Has anyone used this product in addition to or in place of the existing spreadsheet add-in?What have you found are the added benefits of this product? Any lost functionality or issues with using this over the current spreadsheet add-in.If we upgrade to Essbase 6.5 is this the 'new' spreadsheet add-in or is it optional? Thanks!Lisa

To try to answer the questions in order:Q: Is the Essbase Spreadsheet Services an additional cost above and beyond the spreadsheet add-in? A: I believe ESS is licensed separately - I don't know if this has or will change in the future, so yes it does cost above and beyond Essbase.Q: Has anyone used this product in addition to or in place of the existing spreadsheet add-in? A: I used it during the beta, and I work with it from time to time, but I have not implemented it in production anywhere as of yet.Q:What have you found are the added benefits of this product? Any lost functionality or issues with using this over the current spreadsheet add-in. A: The main benefits are that you can now connect to your Essbase servers (via Essbase Enterprise Services) over HTTP, which means you don't need TCP connectivity. You could have users around the world and as long as they can see the web server running the service, they can connect.Another benefit is you don't need to install the Essbase runtime on the user's PC. The "add in" can be a CAB file that self installs when the user hits a page you set up. A nice bonus in a large widely dispersed user community. As far as functionality goes, I believe the will be parallel (the beta did not have EIS drill through). The major downer is performance - it is slower than the normal add-in with larger reports.Q: If we upgrade to Essbase 6.5 is this the 'new' spreadsheet add-in or is it optional? A: No - the normal add-in is still the default. ESS requires additional software/configurations (particulary EES, Java App Server) to be used.Regards,Jade-----------------------------------Jade ColeSenior Business Intelligence ConsultantClarity [email protected]
