My airport extreme (generation 5) was set up using wifi and has worked flawlessly (on macbook pro 2 iphones and window 7 HP pc)until recently. I have reset to factory defaults over and over but still cannot get on the internet. However I can then take my DSL cord and insert it in a different Ethernet port other than the WAN port and I can get internet on my Mac and iphones but only wifi on my husband's PC.  I hate to spend another $179 if this is just something I'm doing wrong. Please help

I'm having a bit of trouble confirming that the ZyXEL is a combination modem & wireless-N router. If it is, then you really won't get any advantages of using the 802.11g AirPort.
If the range of your ZyXEL is limited, you may find that doing either or both of the following will help: 1) Move the ZyXEL so that it is higher vs. lower in the room, that is away from any closed areas or placed in a metal cabinet, and 2) Changing radio channels. The latter is especially important in you live in an area where there are a number of competing Wi-Fi.
A good utility to find out, is iStumbler. You would use this to find these other Wi-Fi and find which have the strongest signal value. Those that do, you would also want to note which channel they are operating on, and then, change yours to one that is at least 3-5 channels away. So, for example, if you find strong ones on channels 1 & 6, change yours to 11.

  • Anyone using Assassin's Creed 4 on 2012 MacBook Pro Retina?

I have a 2012 Retina MacBook Pro running 64-bit Windows 7 in Boot Camp. I've run a number of other graphics-heavy games such as FarCry 3 and Crysis 3 just fine on this machine.
Unfortunately Assassin's Creed 4 insists on running at a very low resolution --- what seems to be 640x480. I first tried with the default Bootcamp drivers --- 306.37; then I upgraded to Nvidia's latest --- 331.82 and 331.93, and the same results in both cases. The graphics options panel lets me choose higher resolutions, all the way up to 2880x1800, but the game is still at that awful low resolution.
Anyone have more luck with this set up?

I had this problem too - it's some wackiness particular to the Assassin's Creed games on Bootcamp.
You need to go into control panel and font size (I think it might be in Display). There should be an option to set the fonts at 150%, 200% etc. Set it at 100%. You should have to log out for it to take effect.
You'll probably go blind trying to read anything with the fonts set so small, but the game should now run at 1080p.

  • Anyone using two external LCD with a recent MacBook Pro?

    Hello,
Does Thunderbolt support chaining multiple monitors(e.g. non Apple Thunderbolt Display) to a MacBook Pro?
A Thunderbolt hub will be required, some external HD have two TunderBolt ports.  A device with three ports will be required (one input, two ouptputs).
Anyone have seen such device ?

  • Anyone using a 1TB internal drive on a MacBook Pro?

Hi. I plan to upgrade the internal drive (250GB) on my MBP to either 750GB or 1TB. OWC sells a 1TB drive from Western Digital. Does anyone have experience with this drive? Thx
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Western%20Digital/WD10TPVT/

Yes, I have this drive installed in my 2010 17". Fits fine. I have heard that it also fits in the 15". A couple of things:
The drive is only 5200 rpm, so expect startup to be a tad slower. Not awful, just a little slower. I never really restart my Mac so this is only an issue every once in a while - mostly during system updates.
This drive has anti-drop/shock protection built-in, unlike the Apple drives. To avoid any issues, I disabled the built-in protection. A quick google will tell you how to do this. It is a couple of lines entered into the terminal. The setting is remembered after the lines are entered.
The one annoying bit that took a little while to figure out was the drive was making *a lot* of noise due to excessive head parking. It is set up out of the box to very aggressively conserve power. There is a solution to this and it is a small program called "hdapm" it is a little command line tool that sets the driver to a less agressive power saving mode at startup. There are also instructions online for this. google "hdapm" for details. You need to download the binary, stick it in a folder, then set up a very small startup script to point to it. All done.
The drive is excellent and huge. Very quiet after the head parking issue was solved. I've been running mine for about 2 months or so now. Highly recommended.

  • Logic and Reason (via Rewire) - no sound?

    hey there,
I've just linked up Logic and Reason, via ReWire, and although they seem to be working visually, there is no sound.
Do I need a separate track set up so I can hear it?
    I dont understand!

I'm going to try this... See if it works on your end as well!

  • Logic and Reason Combinators

I am running into a problem with Logic and Reason's Combinator module.
As you may know, the Combinator uses multiple synth modules and "combines" them. When I create an Aux track in Logic and and try to assign it to a Combinator patch (ex: Reason Pianos), instead of the sum Combinator showing up, all of the individual synth modules show up, thus I am unable to play the sum result of the Combinator patches. I can only select ONE of the four or five pianos that makes up the patch.
    Anyway around this?

Search the "ALL OBJECTS" layer of your environment to see if there is a rewire object labeled "Combinator". If you find it, click the "chain" button on both the environment and the arrange windows, create an external midi track in the arrange window (make sure the track stays selected), then use the MIDI tool to click on the rewire object in the environment to set it up as a track in your arrange window. If you can't find a combinator rewire object, then you will have to create a new rewire object in the environment. To do this, choose NEW/INTERNAL/REWIRE OBJECT. With the rewire object selected, you will have to select the channel for the COMBINATOR (keep in mind that the channel name of the sum combinator will be the same name on the combinator's label strip in Reason). In the parameter box, change the rewire bus if the channel selection is not available.

  • Anyone using Logic to score to picture?

Anyone using Logic to score to picture?
    what is your workflow?

I either get the QT movie delivered on DVD-ROM or delivered on an external FW drive already in the size and format that I want. I don't use DV output (I run the video in a window on a 2nd monitor).
I create a separate logic song for every music cue, which I find works for me. it minimises the need to fiddle with locking objects to TC when there are tempo changes etc. in order to hear the other music that I am working on in the film to get an overall global feel etc, I bounce a work in progress from each song and place them in the right place on a dedicated track in every music cue logic song. time consuming but effective.
for the film audio, I extract it to a track from the QT and run it in logic. can be a pain when having to change offsets but I have a technique for cutting the audio file to realign it with the film if I need to offset it.
what I would like to see is far better implementation of movies in logic in general. I tried using the detect cuts feature for a while but found it pretty much useless for me. I am still finding that logic forgets what QT was saved with a song, so I am having to relocate it again, and it irritatingly defaults to looking in the movies folder on my system drive.. so instead of fighting it, I copy the QT to that folder when I can, ie, when it is not too big a file. in general I would like a more elastic and intuitive way to glide a movie start point as far back or forward as I would like, to easily align the start point of a music cue with bar one.
that's all I can think of for now. any other Qs just ask.

  • Audio recording using Logic and Mbox

    Sirs,
I've to import vinyl using Logic and the Mbox (Digimedia) card. Does anyone have experience in such kind of operation?
Thanks in advance for your help.
titanium 1ghz   Mac OS X (10.3.8)   Logic Platinum 7.1 - Mbox audio card

No MBox, but I just patch my turntable into a phono preamp I bought at Radio Shack about 25 years ago (in order to have RIAA equalization) and the preamp outs into your interface and you can record like normal.

  • Anyone using openstreetmap and mapviewer/mapbuilder to create maps

anyone using openstreetmap and mapviewer/mapbuilder to create maps?

Ok, I do exactly as you specify here. In addition I import the needed jars from the import folder of j2mepolish. Also, I put the resources folder from the polish sample (MenuMidlet) in the project, and all marked errors disappears.
Then I try to run it as an Ant build, and get the following error:
    BUILD FAILED
D:\Program Files\eclipse31\j2me\sample\build.xml:115: The MIDlet [source.src.de.enough.polish.example.MenuMidlet] could not be found. Check your <midlet>-setting in the file [build.xml] or adjust the [sourceDir] attribute of the <build>-element.The MIDlet should be in D:\Program Files\eclipse31\j2me\sample\source\src\source\src\de\enough\polish\example\MenuMidlet.java
Ok - so it seems that it for some reason gets "source\src" two times. So I go back to the <midlet class and remove the source.src, leaving just de.enough.polish.example.
Then I run as Ant again, and it compiles successfully.
However, when I try to run the MenuMidlet class as a j2me midlet (in eclipse) it starts, and then crash with this error:
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: de/enough/polish/util/Locale
         at source.src.de.enough.polish.example.MenuMidlet.<init>(+11)
         at java.lang.Class.runCustomCode(+0)
         at com.sun.midp.midlet.MIDletState.createMIDlet(+19)
         at com.sun.midp.midlet.Scheduler.schedule(+52)
         at com.sun.midp.main.Main.runLocalClass(+28)
         at com.sun.midp.main.Main.main(+116)
So - seemingly - to compile it I need to give it one address, but for the midlet to run it must be compiled with an address that won't let it compile :-)
Well - then I create a J2ME package from the project, and run the deployed/sample.jad file. Then the midlet actually starts, but when I click Launch, the display shows:
    New Midlet de.enough.polish.ui.MenuBar Exception: java.lang.classNotFoundException: de/enough/polish/ui/MenuBar
I can't find a reference to MenuBar anywhere in the sample code.

Pair a wireless KB with the laptop and all should be well when you attach the laptop to the iMac and invoke TDM. But as Denny mentions, it does seem like the waste of a good iMac to use it in just this configuration. Why is the laptop primary?

  • HOW TO USE LOGICAL AND OR CONDITION TOGETHER

    hi,
You cannot use the logical and  or condition together at the same time in SQL statement. Sachin is correct while using the and and or in the same condition. You can get the data using or condition in SQL statement, and then use the delete statement of internal table using the end condition. please find the following code for the same.
    select *
      from dtab
    where cond1 eq 'A1'
         or cond2 eq 'A2'.
    if sy-subrc eq 0.
delete itab where cond1 eq 'A1' and 'A2'.
    endif.
    regards,

  • Validator using logical AND or logical OR

How can I validate multiple TextInputs using logical AND or
    logical OR. For example:
    If TextInput1 == Null || TextInput2 == Null causes a
validation error if both are null but passes validation as long as
one field is populated or both fields are populated.
    John

You could have a Boolean variable that is initially false,
and only becomes true when one of the TextInput becomes populated.
The variable could be set in the TextInput "change" event.
Your validation code would check the value of that Boolean
    variable.
