Is anyone using Quicken 2007 or 2008 on a PowerPC OSX.3?
Quicken is discontinuing support for Internet banking for its earlier versions, including 2005, which I happen to have. I have not updated my Quicken because I was happy with what I had. However, now I will lose the capacity to download my account statements from my bank. Quicken says I have to upgrade to 2007 or 2008, but what I've read so far in other discussion groups is that Mac users just hate the newer Quicken versions. I'm not sure if it's because most of those users seem to have Intel machines that have the Universal Binary Code, which I believe isn't compatible with any of the Quicken versions except 'o8. Does anyone out there have any experience with Quicken '07 or '08 running on a PowerPC G4, OSX.3? Thanks, any feedback pro or con will help me make up my mind whether to plunk down the extra money for the new version or just say forget it and go back to entering my statements "by hand."
I run, and had to buy, Quicken 2007 for the same reason, almost. I lost the downloading of stock prices in Quicken 2004. I use it on my G4 and my new MacPro and love it! There are no performance issues with PPC or Intel systems.

I am using Quicken 2007 (16.1.4) and had no problems before upgrading to OS 10.10 Yosemite. When attempting to download security updates from my financial institutions (UBS and Fidelity), I get the following error: Quicken could not connect to the server. Please try again later. [OL-290] I understand this is because of a mismatch between SSL certificates at the financial institutions and Apple's SSL certificate included with OS 10.10 Yosemite. Any fixes to this issue?
I have the same problem but Q for Mac 2015 does not meet my needs. Is there a fix for this problem?

After upgrading to Lion, not able to use a PowerPC Application (Quicken 2007). Any solution?
Quicken Essentials 2010 has less features than Quciken 2007. Keeping track of investments is one feature I need and Quicken Essentials does not include that function. I may have to consider others financial software, such as iBank4, Money4, iFinance, and Money Well.

Anyone using Exchange 2007 with Good Technology to get push on iPhone
Our firm is going to go with Good to send exchange information to the iphone. Wondering if anyone has that setup and has something to share about how it works and what the limitations are compared to linking directly to Exchange?
I am populating $users by importing a list of user names from a csv file i have
$users = Import-Csv .\users.csv
the user names are listed in an excel document, they are in the form of "firstname lastname"
so I end up with a variable with several names like:
$users
username
Joe Smith
Bob Jones
Bill Morden
etc.
So what I essentially do is loop through this custom object and get the cas-mailbox status with the users name. -
Can i use a 2007 quicken software on my new iMac?
Can I install a Quicken 2007 program on my new iMac even tho it is not supporting Power PC?
No, you will not be able to use Quicken 2007 on OS X Lion 10.7.x. However if you still have your old Mac and can export the data you can import the data into a new app such as iBank. Intuit came out with a letter to it's users about a month ago that they plan on porting Quicken 2007 so that it will be able to run on a Lion however they were not specific about when that would happen. Here is a recent article that talks about that letter:
http://techcrunch.com/2011/12/22/in-a-reversal-intuit-will-make-quicken-2007-for -mac-work-with-lion/
There are many many apps available that will take the place of Quicken for Mac. Personally I made the switch to iBank many months ago after using Quicken for over 20 years on both PC's and Macs. It was very clear Intuit does not take the Mac market seriously. I found importing my data from Quicken 2007 to be very easy and was able to fulfill all my needs with iBank. You will get similar success stories from users that chose other applications too. I like iBank because it provided a 30 day fully functional trial period, it has great support including online tutorials which you can see at:

Quicken 2007 crashes. EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV)
I am using Quicken 2007 (have been for many years). For some reason, suddently one of my quicken files crashes all the time at exit and appears to be corrupt. I have worked with Intuit support and have exhausted all their recommendations. I have restored from very old backups but after a day or two, they crash as well. Even installed on different macs. Weird, because I have a different quicken file (different info) and it works perfect (although it is a much smaller file). Although I've asked several times, Intuit avoids diagnosing the crash reports I've sent. Can anyone interpret these for me?

Strangely enough, when I tried to re-install it from the CD, I received the same error from the Setup program on the CD. I have been trying to troubleshoot it over at the Quicken Community, but have had no success. The thread for that is:

Any suggestions would be welcome. The Combo update can be found here...
http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx1055comboupdate.html
In the future just click the Support tab at the top of this forum page. The click the Downloads button near the middle of the page. You will notice, however, that the Combo update for OS X 10.5.5 is some 601 MB in size. Hopefully you have a broadband connection to the internet. Before applying the combo update be sure to run Disk Utility to verify/repair your boot drive and repair permissions. This is to make sure all is well before starting the update. Also back up any important documents (like your Quicken data file) before beginning. Then just follow the instructions.
The Combo update is the total collection of patches, features, bug fixes, etc. issued since OS X 10.5 was originally released. Normally the Software Download application downloads what is known as the delta update. The delta update applies only the fixes since the last update and is much smaller in size. This is almost always quite fine. However, sometimes things can go haywire. Applying the Combo update applies everything ever released and will sometimes fix screwball problems. Some people swear by the Combo update and always apply it instead of the delta. Mostly overkill but it doesn't hurt to try.
Notice that I use the word "sometimes" a lot. Troubleshooting can be frustrating but it's worth it considering the alternative is to start over. An archive/install is the last resort. You would do this by booting from your OS X 10.5 installation DVD and selecting the option. Archive/install re-installs OS X but leaves your data intact. The old System folder is archived and all your applications, preferences and settings are applied to the new installation. Then you apply all the updates (or the Combo update). The ultimate start over is, of course, Erase/Install which erases your hard drive, reformats it, and installs a completely fresh OS X 10.5. Your data is lost and must be restored from backups. I wouldn't go there unless I was forced to.
And last but not least Good Luck! -
Apple Remote Desktop Update Kills Quicken 2007
Today this update (3.8.2v1.1) to Apple Remote Desktop Client loaded and now Quicken 2007 will start but will not quit and after telling it to quit it's windows are screwed up with toolbar missing. Only change to my system since yesterday's no problem use of Quicken was this update. I don't use Apple Remote Desktop, but I DO USE QUICKEN 2007 which is now unuseable. How do I get rid of this update or the ARD application or otherwise solve this problem?
Russell G
iMac 24' 2007 OS/X Mavericks 10.9.5That's not a thing that can happen. Your problem with Quicken is unrelated to the Remote Desktop Client Update 3.8.2 v1.1.
There were several OS updates recently, which could have affected Quicken, though more likely its just something else that went wrong with Quicken that is causing the problem.
You should try to clear your Caches and Saved Application State folders in your user Library to see if it helps:
1. Quit all open applications (especially Quicken)
2. Click on Finder in your Dock
3. Select the "Go" item in your Menu Bar and while it is open, hold the Option key on your keyboard
4. Click on the "Library" option that appears in the list
5. Finder will now display your user Library folder
6. You will find both a folder for Caches and one for Saved Application State
7. Open, select all contents, and trash all contents for both folders. DO NOT TRASH the folders themselves, only the contents.
8. Immediately select the Apple Logo in the Menu Bar and log off or restart your computer. When prompted, uncheck the "reopen windows when logging back in".
9. Log back in after log off/reboot. Try loading Quicken.
If you are still having trouble, contact Quicken support: http://quicken.intuit.com/support/mac.jsp -
MAC Quicken 2015 vs. Quicken 2007...
MAC QUICKEN 2015, will it bring in ...
Just bought MAC QUICKEN 2015 and transferred data from MAC QUICKEN 2007. Half the good eliminates from 2007 are either gone, or did not transfer. This, after the website says it is quick and easy to get your data files from the MAC 2007 software.
The following operating functions are missing from the automatic data migration or just are gone! Is this what Intuit charges $200 to recover???
Scheduled transactions …[yes] [no]
User defined reports that can be kept …[yes] [no]
Transfers between registers …[yes] [no]
Setup local sales tax percentage option …[yes] [no]
Bulk online account updates, not just one account at a time …[yes] [no]
Define the number of backups to keep …[yes] [no]
USER Defined MENU BAR Options:
QuickFill button in Menu Bar…[yes] [no]
VOID button in Menu Bar…[yes] [no]
Memorize transactions button in Menu Bar…[yes] [no]
User defined reports …[yes] [no]
Quick Reports button in Menu Bar, not the same as above …[yes] [no]In the past Intuit just insulted Mac users, now they have committed a class action against them, with the misleading name of their update of Quicken Essentials to "Quicken 2015 for Mac!"
Thank you for itemizing the missing features, so that we can link interested users over to your post.
I just continue to use Quicken 2007; would this work for you? -
What is the best way to run Quicken 2007 on Lion?
I must use Quicken 2007 but have upgraded to Lion. What is the best way to continue using a program that is no longer compatible with 10.7
Unfortunately, you will need to find a different application; you can't continue to use an app that is not compatible. Or, you can revert back to your Snow Leopard clone (you did back up your SL install before upgrading?) in order to run Quicken. You could have two partitions on your hard drive - one for SL and one for Lion.

Quicken 2007 checks print "upside-down"
I have been using Quicken 2007 for Mac (ver 16.1.2) to print my checks, successfully, for many years with a Brother printer. Suddenly, out of the blue, my partial checks starting printing upside down (i.e., rotated 180 degress). I have looked at all the print settings and preferences and everything is correct. Something clearly has changed, maybe from either an OS X or printer driver update, but I can't figure it out.
I deleted the printer and reinstalled the Brother CUPS driver from the Brother website, and also reinstalled the Quicken app, but none of that fixed the problem.
I spoke to both Brother and Quicken technical support, and they each pointed the finger at the other. In the meantime, the checks won't print.Well, I installed Rosetta and downloaded the latest driver for the printer. Interestingly, Quicken 2007's Get Info box doesn't have the checkbox to open in Rosetta. Checks still print upside down.
I found a workaround, though: I "print" the check to Preview, then rotate it 180 degrees and print to the printer. I can live with that, but I hope someday to figure out what happened...
I'm going to leave this question unanswered for now, but thanks for the help! -
OSX 10.6.5 altered Quicken 2007 icons to Quicken Essential
I updated my iMac with OSX 10.6.4 to 1-0.6.5 successfully except that the icon for my old Quicken 2007 data files changed to an unrecognizable one, possibly one for the Quicken Essential. I tried Quicken Essential several months ago but discarded it for its prominent lack of features I needed. I have been using Quicken 2007 since without any problem by double clicking the icon. The new icon has a travel suitcase with an "name tag" and a round sticker with a plane image. Now, I cannot double click the new icon as it initiate a data conversion process and nothing happens as a result. The only way for me to use Quicken 2007 to display the old data is to drag the new icon to Quicken 2007 application icon. I am annoyed by this seemingly unreasonable extra step I need to go through and puzzled why the 10.6.5 update causes this to happen. Can someone at Apple or someone else explain this phenomenon and tell me how to restore the old way of using Quicken 2007?
Another data point: I was having trouble with the menus in Quicken and trouble with Smart Payees. I closed the data file, restarted the system, and now Quicken.app opens the data file just fine, and the menus and smart payees work just fine. Where have I heard the instructions "Just reboot..."

Does Quicken 2007 work with Mavericks?
Does Quicken 2007 work with Mavericks? I'm holding off upgrading my wife's system to Maveicks until I know Quicken 2007 still works with it. She uses Quicken all the time.
IJC9 wrote:
I called Intuit. They told me that Quicken 2007 (16.1.4 - the upgrade for Mountain Lion) would work in a limited capacity on Mavericks - but that they would neither guarantee this, nor support it. They said that it should work for simple tasks like checkbook balancing/ writing checks, etc. but that it will probably NOT work for online banking or coordination with credit cards or investment tracking, etc.
Well that is a direct contradiction to what they say on their website.

"Is Quicken Supported on Mavericks?
Updated: 10/23/2013 | Article ID: GEN8597
Apple released their latest operating system, OS X 10.9 (code named Mavericks). Lion Compatible Quicken for Mac 2007 (16.1.4) and Quicken Essentials Mac (1.7.4) are fully supported on OS X 10.9.
There are four known minor issues confirmed to occur with Quicken Essentials for Mac running OS X 10.9"
So I call bullhockey nonsense on your phone call to Intuit. And I am using Quicken 2007 16.1.4 on my iMac running OS X Mavericks and it works without issues. Everything works. Notice the "fully supported" statement? Misinformation is rampant on the Internet. Phone calls to tech support are iffy at best. They rarely know what is going on.
QUICKEN 2007 16.1.4 WORKS JUST FINE ON MAVERICKS. HOW DO I KNOW FOR SURE? I AM USING IT MYSELF!
