Is anything being done to fix WMP conflict with Mac Mini's?

I still can't view WMP video files that aren't website embedded. I used Rosetta and the Popwire utility and still no success. Are the embedded files any different
for non-embedded ones? Please tell me an upgrade is the works to fix this problem. So many of my video files are unfortunately WMV. Isn't intel more WMV friendly anyway? You would think Intel Mac Mini's would have an easier time processing them.

  • Font conflict with Mac OS

    Hi there
    I hope this is relevant to this forum…
    I'm having trouble with a version of Helvetica that seems to be conflicting with the Mac system fonts. So, the client sent us a packaged document with the fonts and all but we can't get them activated and recognised in InDesign. I suspect it's to do with a Suitcase / Mac OS conflict and not an InDesign problem, but I'm not sure where to look for help.
    Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks! Sorry, things are pretty chaotic so I'll need a little more time to work through and figure it out, but that link looks like it'll be well worth reading through. The problem is happening on a colleagues computer, so I'm not 100 percent sure about software versions etc., but I can see how knowing that would be helpful.
    So, the saga continues on Monday…
    I appreciate your help!

  • Plugin-container.exe takes over and uses 100% of my CPU locking me out and leaving my PC non-functioning. Is this a bug, or a memory leak, in the Firefox software? Can anything be done to fix this problem?

    In looking at Windows Task Manager I found that plugin-container.exe was taking over 100% of my CPU and my system was frozen. Is this a memory leak or other bug?

    Thank you! I have been having problems with Adobe Flash since downloading the new 11.1 version. I will download it again and reinstall it, hopefully that will correct the problem.

    I have discovered that if the Keyboard.prc v1.9 is enabled then my T3 will not communicate with my Mac. Once I disable the Keyboard extension and do a soft reset then hotsync will communicate with the Palm.
    Perhaps Palm could come up with a fix for this problem?

  • Keyboard conflict with mac version?

    Hi!
    I hope you guys can help me.
    I kind of... spoiled water on my iMac's keyboard and now it's dead! So I'm buying a new one, (since the computer is not mine but my job's office) but I'm searching the model I need which is the usb keyboard with numeric keypad but it says on the system requirements that you need Mac OS X v10.6.8 or later and my the version on my iMac is Mac OS X v.10.5.8 I would like to know if there's going to be any problem if I buy the keyboard and the OS is a lower version... please help!
    Thank you,
    Sandra.

    It will work but some of the special function keys on the top row won't perform the function printed on them.

  • Aluminum keyboard not being recognized during start-up on 2006 Mac Mini

    I have a 2006 model 1.83ghz Core Duo Mac Mini.
    I purchased an Apple Aluminum keyboard to use with the Mini.
    The keyboard works fine, in general.
    However, upon rebooting, the keyboard is not recognized for initiating commands.
    For example, holding the Option key down does not bring up the Startup manager screen,
    holding down the C key will not allow booting from an Apple Leopard DVD,
    holding down Command S will not initiate single user mode.
    The keyboard firmware update has been installed.
    I have tried different Aluminum keyboards on the computer, with the same result.
    The aluminum keyboard works at startup on a 2007 Intel iMac.
    I also have a 2007 model 2.0ghz Mac Mini,
    it does not have any problems recognizing an Aluminum keyboard at startup.
    I have had the logic board replaced under Apple Care, this did not help.
    Apple products simply should just work together.
    Daryl Woods

    This is ridiculous and unacceptable. I have the same issue with this $%*& keyboard and my iMac CD (January 2006). A Mac that is less than 3 years old should not be made less functional by a basic peripheral like a keyboard. If Apple can't or won't address this issue they should at least make the previous generation keyboard - that functioned fine - available.
    I had to replace my original keyboard and am now stuck with a less than functional, newer one... pretty unbelievable.

  • How can I continue to use iTunes with my iPhone if I don't have a 64 bit mac mini?

    Frustrated, Dissappointed, Forgotten are my new icons, of late. Why does Apple think we can be stepped over and trampled under foot with mandatory downloads for iTunes 10.4 which disrupts any normal function to access my iphone because the intel Core Duo 1.66 GHZ mac mini can't have 64 bit upgrade.
    Plus their Support Download insists on forcing the Lion version on customers holding on to similar model units. While all the buying is going on because of hype and swipe. Now with iTunes 10.4 no iphone appears on the left sidebar which means it doesn't belong on my system. Disfunctional Software! What's the answer how I can obtain only the June level of iTunes which iTunes 10.3.1? And how to keep the system from wanting to update it?

  • Bootstrap3/BC Menu dropdown conflict with module_photogallery

    I'm building a site using Bootstrap3 framework, with BC Dynamic Menu (with jQuery courtesy Joe Watkins) for main navigation.  Dropdowns (click or hover) working beautifully until I add a photogallery module, then the dropdown links disappear on click, which is a major problem on touchscreens.  I've removed all things piece-by-piece to determine the dropdown links disappear 100% of the time when a photogallery module is on the page, and work appropriately 100% of the time without a photogallery present (well, 1 exception - i'm seeing same issue on Layouts/OnlineShop/large_product.html).
    Does anyone have any recommendations to fix this conflict with my Menu Nav dropdown links and the photogallery module?  Really, really appreciate any suggestions.  Unfortunately, the site nav is rendered non-functional on touchscreens due to these disappearing dropdown link conflicts (only Home and Smile Gallery links are not dropdowns).
    EXAMPLES
    Here are 3 examples of pages with a photogallery/dropdown conflict on click.  To test issue, click the main nav dropdown links (e.g. "Locations, Treatment, etc":
    Smile Gallery
    Rapid City, SD
    Spearfish, SD
    I'm right in the middle of transitioning this site to the responsive framework, so not all links will work. Here are 3 examples of Nav links working properly on click (no photogallery module):
    Results - Before & After
    Evaluation
    Smile For A Lifetime
    REFERENCE
    I do not understand jQuery very well, I've pieced together what I could to make it all work.  Here are the 2 scripts I use to get the BC Menu to work:
    // - - - - -  Dropdown Menu v2 - JOE WATKINS.IO Dropdown Menu Toggle - - - - - - - - - - -
    dropdownNavTweak : function(){
    var $navContainer = $(".nav"),
      $dropdownItems = $navContainer.find("li.dropdown");
      $dropdownItems.each(function(){
      var $parentItem = $(this).find("a:first");
      $parentItem.addClass("dropdown-toggle").attr("data-toggle","dropdown").append(" <em class='icon-caret-down'></em>");
      $(this).children("ul").removeClass().addClass("dropdown-menu");
      $dropdownItems.show();  // shows dropdown images to prevent flicker - use CSS to hide " .nav li.dropdown {display:none;}" or ".navbar-nav li.dropdown {display:none;}" or  ".navbarMinor-nav li.dropdown {display:none;}"
    },  // end dropdownNavTweak  (Comma needed if others follow}
    ... and ...
    //////- -MENU- ////////
    jQuery(document).ready(function ($) {
        jQuery('.navbar .dropdown').hover(function() {
            jQuery(this).addClass('extra-nav-class').find('.dropdown-menu').first().stop(true, true).delay(200).slideDown();
        }, function() {
            var na = $(this);
            if (jQuery('.spanFloatLeftIfMobile').css('float') == "none") {
                na.find('.dropdown-menu').first().stop(true, true).delay(500).slideUp('fast', function(){ na.removeClass('extra-nav-class') })

    Hi Matthew,
    Having a super quick look at the code I'd say it's because of:
    ul.dropdown li.selected a {
        color: #ff871f;
    This affects all the child elements.
    To override this down the line you could do something like:
    ul.dropdown li.selected ul li a {
        color: #fff;
    This would override the parent link color when selected.
    You could probably then also add:
    ul.dropdown li.selected ul li.selected a {
        color: #ff871f;
    For the dropdown selected states.
    That's a quick look though so don't quote me too much

  • TouchScreen Monitor + mac mini = don't work

    There is a big monitor with TouchScreen. It works fine connected via USB with any computer with Windows XP or Windows 7. But it doesn't work with mac mini. What I have to do to force it to work normally?

    alvacom wrote:
    I use USB wire which was together with monitor.  Any other computer with Windows works fine with this USB wire. Anybody knows why mac mini doesn't work?
    When you say it does not work, what do you mean? Do you mean no video appears? If so you need to connec tthe monitor to the Mac via VGA, or DVI, or HDMI, or Displayport, etc.
    If however you are referring to the fact it does display an image but the Touch screen capability does not work, then this is almost certainly because your Mac does not (at this point) have the right software drivers installed to enable this capability. The reason the Windows computers work is either because they already have the drivers installed or because Windows has automatically downloaded and installed the drivers.
    You also don't detail what make and model of monitor you are referring to. It is possible some makes and models can be made to work with the right software (for Mac). However be aware that some makes/models only support limited touch capabilities, for example most HP Touchscreen displays only support two finger touches and not three or more.
    In response previously to someone else who wanted to use a HP Touchscreen with a Mac I found this website http://touch-base.com/download.asp which has drivers for various makes and models of touchscreen display.

  • All sound on my laptop turns to a glitched mess when anything is being done while it is playing.

    I really need help trying to figure this issue out. I have a HP2000 Notebook PC with Windows 8 I have had it since last March or April haven't had any issues until the past few weeks.
    It has started to make terrible noises if I am in the middle of watching a show or listening to music and click on soemthing else or even close a program it starts to cut the sound out and starts making a glitch type noise it's really hard to explain the sound it's not static or white noise but very distorted.
    Once whatever is loading is done it stops and plas the sound again without issues until something else decides to run. I have tried to stop and restart my windows audio and it didn't help. If there is anything else that can be done to fix it or even troubleshoot the issue so i can figure it out please let me know.
    I'd really hate to buy a new computer because the sound is screwed up on this one and it's not even a year old. Any and all help is greatly appreciated thanks in advance!!

    Hello DreamWriter84. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. I understand the sound quality of this computer is poor.  To begin troubleshooting the issue, please apply the information from this HP document: Music or Sounds are Distorted (Echo, Off Pitch, Sound Effects)
    Please note: This document is intended for desktop PCs with Windows 7. However, the troubleshooting is useful for notebooks as well. The operating system is irrelevant. If the issue is not resolved, please provide the full model number of the computer. If you require assistance locating this information, please reference this website: Locating the Model Number of the Computer
    Please respond with the results of your troubleshooting. I'm only here to help!

  • Can anything be done to change the white on grey color scheme in Bookmarks?

    I just upgraded my Mac Book Pro to OS X Version 10.9.1. I was horrified when I got a look at what Apple has done to Safari!  I have macular degeneration - which means that my eyesight is slowly fading away.  Bookmarks was especially difficult because all of the bookmrks are shown with a white on grey color scheme.  And when the "new" Apple color schemes are not white on grey - they are grey on white.  I simply can NOT see anything which is white on grey.  OR white on ANY light color.  In order to be able to see anything, I need to have contrast.  For example, as I type on this page, the scroll bar is grey on white.  It has become almost impossible for me to find the scroll bar on most pages.  Previously, my scroll bars where usually bright blue.  I can see bright blue on white - but NOT grey on white.  I can read white letters on BRIGHT or DARK Blue -but NOT light blue.
    Apple has made SO many strides in makes computers accessable to those of us who have no other choice except to deal with disabilities!  Can ANYTHING be done to change the white on grey color scheme which Apple has adopted throughout its system?
    Now, in order to use my Bookmarks, I have to go to my Edit Bookmarks page.  Even that solutation is not all that helplful, because the lettering on the Edit Bookmarks page is so small.
    Also - I discovered that the "new" Mail pages had the same problem.  For the most part, the "innovations" in mail make all of the pages too busy for me to be able to sort my mail or keep track of it in any way.  I had to choose to return to the "classic" mail option to be able to get a reasonable facsimile of being able to handle my E mail accounts!
    And, of course, once again, the scroll bar on my mail accounts is also grey on white - so it takes a lot of searching for me to just find the scroll bar when I need to scroll down in an E mail!
    ALSO - I was equally horrified when I discovered that the Upgrade to Version 10.9.1 made it impossible for me to visit some of my favorite music pages - most of which use MIDI files!  I can no longer hear any of my favorite MIDI music pages!  I TUNES, of course, is in love with people like Lady Gaga - the type of performers - and performances - which have no relevance to older Americans.
    I do volunteer work at a local Assisted Living facility and one of the greatest advances we have been able to make with Alzheimers patients is the way in which Senior Citizens respond to music from their time period.  Unfortunately, most of the music which senior citizens prefer to listen to is music which has been preserved in MIDI pages.  A few weeks before I "upgraded" my Mac Book Pro - I could take my computer over to the local Assisted Living Facility and play music from Hymn Time's Cyberhymnal or the Angelwinks tunes - but I can NO longer do that with the current Apple "upgrade" in version 10.9.1 - because the music from those MIDI pages can no longer be heard by anyone!  The page comes up and you can see the writing - but no one can hear any of the music.  We understand that a group in Switzerland has been working on an APP for I Phones which DOES make MIDI files accessable - so surely it should be possible to provide a way for Version 10.9.1 users to listen to MIDI files, such as those provided by Hymn Time's Cyber Hymnal or by Angelwinks!
    You will notice that I changed the font for this to Arial Black - primarily because I could NOT see what I was writing when I first began - because, once again, the color scheme was grey on white.
