Is Aperature doing Vintage...not in old ...but slide show?

Hi, I use the Vintage Theme in autmatic slideshows in Iphoto all the time and my customers love then although
the easiest. Videos on the newest version of Aperature do not show VIntage as a selection when creating a slide show but good old
Ken Burns is there with Classic, sliding panels etc. I am coming to you with this simple question as flat on my back today, not driving and wondering how the helll to get this website going. Please help! Does the current version of Aperature have the Vintage slideshow function,.

Frank, Good strong Italian name! Thanks for replying and yes it should but it is shown as such in the video tutorial showing the basic features. You are correct in saying it should be yet my favorite function was removed from Iphoto and I am still mad and that was awhile back. Ilife 7 or 8. I have been here and done that and upgraded and regretted it so I need to make sure. My good friend Mr. Piriano would tell me to say Merry Christmas and have a Compari and soda no twist but I will take a lime. He has liver cancer and can't drink so when all the people offer to do something for him or ask what he needs he always have a compari for me.

Well, the format I upload from the camera is "video clip" or "video for Windows"...sometimes I've converted them to avi format, too. But as I said, it never even lets me get that far...I never get to even select a clip. As soon as I tell the program to "import/clip" it freezes up before I can even go to the folder that the clips are in. It has only begun to do this recently, and I'd never had any problems like this before. Last night I tried it again, and I clicked "open composition", and it froze when I did that too.
I'm not sure how much more specific I can be about the details of the clips, since I'm positive it has nothing to do with the clips themselves...I'm running Windows XP, though...Home Edition Service Pack 2, Pentium 4 CPU 2.80GHz, with 504 MB of RAM. I have had the automatic updates turned on since I did my last reformat a couple of weeks ago. Could it have something to do with some kind of an update it may have done?

Why do I not see my PSE6 slide shows in the PSE8 organizer?

When I open my Organizer in PSE8, the slide shows that I thought I transferred from PSE6 on my old computer show up in Organizer as a blank image with an hourglass in the middle. Nothing happens when I double-click on it. What did I do wrong and how can I best get the slide shows from my old computer? Thanks.

PSE8 has recognized and converted one of my two catalogs, but I can't find the other one at all. How can I get it from PSE6, converted to PSE8?

You can also use Windows Explorer to search your entire hard drive for all PSE 6 catalogs (named catalog.psedb); be sure to configure Windows Explorer to view hidden files:

I would however like to transfer the slide shows which work fine in the converted PSE8 catalog in my old computer. Some of the files are pdf which I assume I could transfer by simply dragging and dropping. Is there a proper way to transfer just the slide show projects from PSE8 on my old computer to PSE8 on my new computer?
The only way to transfer slide-show projects is to transfer the entire catalog file -- you can't move or transfer individual projects. You can move the individual PDF or move files that the projects created, but of course you can't edit those later.

Does pse 13 for Mac have slide show capabilities?

i am using PSE 10 which does not support slideshows on the Mac platform. Does PSE 13 (Mac) include slide show capabilities? If so, is it as versatile as the PC platform?

There is a completely new slideshow in PSE 13, which is the same for both platforms. It isn't as customizable as the old slide show editor.

I am trying to create slide show in iphoto and want to add caption/text/title in that...I am able to add captions to the photo in edit mode however it doesnt show in the slide show...also I am confused about iphoto versions...my iPad show version 2.0.1 however the discussions I saw on this forum point towards iphoto 9,10,11...

Slideshows on the iPad (or on any handheld device) do not support titles, only the slideshows in iPhoto on the Mac do that.

Any way to not pan in a slide show?

Hi, my daughter needs to create a slide show of her life and we found that panning on some slides will sometimes zoom in and not show faces or other important features of an image.
Is there any way to turn panning off and just show the entire slide statically?
Is there any way to guarantee that the important aspect of a slide is always shown - without cropping the slide too much?

Yes you can turn off the Ken Burns Effect as the panning is called. On the toolbar, click on Slideshow, then Settings, then Uncheck 'Automatic Ken Burns Effect'.
Unfortunately, you'll have to uncheck it for each slideshow you make.

E66 - Screen does not turn off, but keeps showing ...

Hi!
My problem is that quite often the screen does not get completely turned off even after long periods of non-usage. The backlight goes off, but the home screen remains visible.
On one hand I'm concerned about the effect of this on battery life, and on the other hand, it's quite annoying that I can't bring up that nice high contrast date&time screen with the press of the navi button, I have to unlock the keys or slide open the phone, which is by no means quick.
The phone's memory content is - apart from a few media files on the memory card - still is in original state.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks,

It's weird, but ever since I posted the question on the boards the problem is gone. :-)
(I actually disabled UMTS about the same time, so this may be the key.)
So for now, problem solved. I'll reopen the topic if the problem comes back.

Write to text file; not overwriting old, but moving to next entry and writing

I am interested in writing a series of filenames, to a text file, so I can keep track of sample ID and experiment #'s. I would like each new filename to be writtten following the previous filename, rather than always overwriting. I've done a brief check of some of the properties, and couldn't find anything. Any ideas? thanks

Just to clarify, are you looking to append text to an existing file without over-writing existing text, or are you looking to create a series of text files with unique names? If you want to append text to an existing file, then Andrey's solution above should be what you need. If you want to programmatically determine a unique name for the text files, then you can use a similar means to deterine a unique name (Andrey used the iteration terminal above so that each iteration of the while loop produces a unique text to be inserted into the text file). You mentioned the use of sample ID and experiment number, which you could also use as a file name if you wish to, and even have the user of the VI enter the information that makes up the filename through front panel controls. The string functions (in the Functions Palette under Programming » String) will be of great use here. Of course, if you are just looking for an “out-of-the-box” solution, there is always the Write to Measurement File Express VI (Programming » File I/O), but this is best suited for situations where you have channels of data that you would like to store, so this may not fit depending on the data you wish to store. If it does fit, however, there are settings that you can configure for saving to a series of files:

Iphone 4s: can not see old (but quite recent) text messages ol

Helping a friend with her iphone 4S. She can not see text messages that go back more than about a few weeks. I have been exchanging texts with her for several months, and compared text history on my iphone between her/I, with text history on her iphone between her/I. Text history on her iphone only goes back a few weeks. Similar story for other people she has texted with, but I can not see a pattern (such as "exactly 2 weeks"). When looking at text history on her iphone I see no option to "load older messages" or anything related. There is nothing else I can see to tap which would hide/reveal messages. I see nothing in Settings that might relate to this. Plenty of memory is available. I've searched the web but have not found any solutions. Any ideas would be appreciated.

-One funny thing I want to add too: when I put the iPhone in the Apple dock and connect it with my PC, I open iTunes and select my phone. There you can see the build, software version,.. But after telephonenumber it says N/A: not applicable.. Something I only just noticed. I'm pretty sure my number was displayed back in Nov. when I first got my iPhone 4S.
And the very last thing: Most of the time I have a very good signal, 4 out of 5 bars. It is only rarely that I have only 1 or 0 bars.

HT5994 I installed Mavericks and lost all my iWork '08 files. Not really lost but they show up with inverted colours, white text, and impossible to edit. Pages 5 appeared to be a great disaster, and can't even open my old files. I want the old iWork back!

My music editing program Finale can open files from the 90:s. Pages 5 can't open files I made half a year ago in Pages 08.
Some difference in knowledge there.

I have tried to update my former iWork with updates from the app store. Mavericks refuses to open them. Mavericks tells me "Can't open, because they are from an unknown source". My iMac tells me that Apples app store is an unknown source.
Just can't believe how Apples software developers could get permission to turn somethiing rally, really good to this really mediocre version pages 5. The opposite to development if you ask me.

Looking at the gap in-between 'CSF Radio Programming Line-Up' and the start of the next section...I can't eliminate it!
If you look at the source code, everything looks normal. But when I open the page in Dreamweaver and use 'Live View', 5 tags appear before the beginning of the table. As soon as I take Live View off, they disapear and I can't get rid of them. That gap has to go! Does anyone have any ideas on how to eliminate the mysterious tags? Help!!!

If you're viewing Flash content, then you MUST allow some data to be stored (even as little as 10kb) or everything will constantly freeze and restart.
I've doen it for testing and it's unbearable to try and watch a video or animation with ALL storage blocked.
I'm curious. Is your hard drive so full that Flash storage is causing problems?
