Is apple still signing ios 5 ?

i have a iphone 3gs and i was wanting to know if i can just upgrade to ios 5 instead of ios 5.0.1 because the ios 5 unteathered jailbreak is coming out soon and i want to know if it is possible.
i also want to know if ios 5 slows the iphone 3gs?

Upgrades are to current version only.

No. Apple stopped signing iOS 5.1.1 about two days after iOS 6 was released.

  • Is Apple still signing 6.1.3 for iphone 4?

    Hello,
Something like one month ago i decided to go from 6.0.something to 6.1.3 because my iphone 4 was running too slowly.
At first i thought about restoring but i got lazy, and thought i would just update through itunes, since itunes always tries to make you update.
So i ended up with 6.1.3. My iphone was working a bit better concerning the speed, which i was happy with, however, i saw a huge difference regarding the battery.
Before i could use my phone the whole day, phoning, browsing the net, listening to music, etc etc.... battery wasn't amazing but i definitly could rely on it for the whole day.
I never had any push of any kind, location services were turned off when not needed, brightness manually set to a low percentage, etc...
Since i updated to 6.1.3, and took the time to set up the iphone the same as it was before (i updated and set up as a new iphone), the battery life is a complete nightmare.
Its not about loosing 10% percent capacity or so, the battery is now emptying when not even doing anything.
I tried everything i could find, i'm 99 percent sure this is not a setting issue (spotlight is even turned off...), and even though i don't want to mesure how much of a decrease i'm witnessing, i guarantee the difference is amazing.
I'm thinking this is a deliberate way into making me think i should get a new iphone, which i don't want to.
I used to have an iphone 4 running Ios 4 and working really fast with great battery, never updated, but then something went wrong with its hardware and i HAD to let apple exchange it for a new iphone, which was great but i ended up with an up to date phone (6.something), it was a bit slower, battery was not as good but it was acceptable.
    Since i updated it's a disaster.
I think there might be a small chance my update went wrong somewhere, and would like to try and restoring it to 6.1.3, but i don't know if apple is still signing it.... i don't wanna hit restore with the option key, select the 6.1.3 firmware, have my phone emptied and then itunes saying this is not possible, directly forcing me to get ios7.
I also believe i virtually have no chance to downgrade to earlier than 6.1.3, which is a shame, cause it worked so much better back then....and no i'm not interested into jailbreaking, did that years ago with a 3gs and found it uninteristing.
So can i restore to the same firmware through itunes?
If i can and nothing changes, then i'll go with 7, since i don't see how it could be even worse (maybe even slower....)...
And if there is no solution, then maybe i'll find a rope....!
    Thank you in advance

No you can't downgrade and it is not supported by Apple, so you either need to live with what you have now and not upgrade again or go for iOS 7 and see what happens.
I have only just updated my phone to iOS 7 this morning and had no problems - did it via iTunes 11.1 and the whole process took about 20 mins with a good fast internet connection.  No problems so far and I actually quite like the new look of iOS 7.

  • I heard that apple are signing iOS 6 again is it true ? (6.0,6.1,6.0.1,6.0.2,.6.1.2)

So i was on the internet and i was looking at a few sites and i saw that a few people wrote apple was signing iOS6.x again i just wanted to make sure that this was true. What i mean by signing iOS6.x again i mean getting the ipsw firmware u want to downgrade to and restore the iDevice using iTunes and it works ??

Why don't you jus try it and find out????  I'm sure you'll find out that what you read is wrong.

  • Is there a way to get apple to sign IOS 7.0.X again?

My iPhone 5 just went into a crazy loop last night so i put my phone in to DFU mode, so there was nothing i could do but restore my phone so I had to upgrade to IOS 7.1 (which I and many others hate) so I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a way to get apple to bring back older signed packages. I know why they took it out (because of the IOS 7 Beta exploit) but IOS 7.0.4 and others even IOS 6.1.3 were really good in quility and IOS 7.1 and IOS 7.0.6 are kind of unstable which they should let someone go back and get the IOS they want because it would benfit most people.

You would have to complain to apple and request to get it back
I did and told them to at least give us the choice to choose
The only way to fix this is to voice our feedback

  • Did Apple stop signing IOS 7.1?

I keep receiving error 3194 everytime I try to upgrade my iPhone 4, as well as iPhone 4S, to IOS 7.1.
I've been searching for solution for 2 weeks so far, but no luck. When I try to fix error 3194 ( by using TinyUmbrella), another error appear (error 1003).
    - The host file is clean, no gs.apple.com entry.
    - Firewall is off.
    - I also try to upgrade the IOS on another PC, but the problem is the same.
    - If I try to upgrade on MAC OS X, the error is "This device isn't elegible for the requested build."
Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

    Downgrading is not supported.
Attempting to install old, obsolete, outdated versions of iOS is not supported.

  • When will apple continue signing iOS 4.3.5?

please i really need it badly

Oh, I see, yours was jailbroken or unofficially locked and you updated it.
Use Google and your problems may be solved.
Or sell it and buy an unlocked samsung.

  • Please Apple, explain why iOS 8 was born, it caused a lot of issues.

    Hi There,
Last Monday i went to the Apple Store, and received a new iPhone 5s, with a swap repair. I was very exited and happy with it, until.... IOS 8.0.2. showed up.
i did an OTA update and everything went fine, until the moment i would like to place a call or do something, that need to make a connection with my mobile provider.
For exemple, browse the internet using 3G, Change settings which have something to do with my provider, like turn on or off caller id, or anything like that. The worst of all is that i can't receive any sms, or incoming call.  And when i would like to place a call, I've got the message Call Filed, please try again, and if im lucky it would work after pressing try again for something like 10 times.
So what I've tried to fix this issue is,
Restore all network settings, (it dit work for a few minutes) after those minutes the same issue...
Restore complete back to default fabric settings of iOS 8.0.2. without placing back an backup. (it doesn't work)
And since apple still provides iOS 8.0, I've even tried to restore from 8.0.2 to 8.0 it so technically I've downgraded. (but still no luck)
And even though the device is just a few days old, I've tried to remove, clean  and replace the sim card. (but it still doesn't work, again a five minute fix...)
Temporary fixes that worked for max 5 minutes or less.
Turnning on and of airplane mode.
Like i said before, I've tried to remove, clean  and replace the sim card.
and last but not least Rebooting the device...
So i've got one question left, please Apple  re provide iOS 7.1.2 again, until all of the iOS 8, 8.0.2 bugs are fixed. Cause if the main reason of purchase every iPhone that introduced the world was stability and a overall amazing good quality, but right now im stuck with a to expensive iPod touch in the skin of an iPhone 5s.. and really unstable, it is the exact opposite from what everyone expect from an quality brand like Apple. i hope that there is a way to deal with this issues for good... Thanks a lot!

Apple is not on here, we are all fellow uSers, not Apple employees.  Apple merely provides the site for us to discuss and help with technical problems each other is having.
Apple does not support downgrading an iOS, and removes the older version's files from the server when the new version becomes available.  There is no legitimate way back.

  • Will Apple still provide security updates\patches to iOS 5.1.1?

Can someone please confirm if will Apple still provide security updates and patches to iOS 5 (5.1.1)?
I really really hope the answer is YES because iOS 5 was released less then a year ago (October 12, 2011)... So I truly hope Apple is not throwing us under the bus here? I mean even Microsoft provides OS security patch support for 10 years so please NO fanboys or Apple defenders... just be real.

iOS 6 works perfectly fine for me.
    Regarding your maps issue,
Apple is constantly working on improving their new Maps service, but until it reaches the level of finesse necessary to be usable, take a look at some alternatives.
If you would like to send a suggestion to Apple, please go to http://www.apple.com/feedback or you can Report a Problem via the Maps app by tapping the bottom right.
Bing Maps offers a very good maps service with Bird's Eye, a feature similar to Flyover. It's arguably better than Google Maps.

Unfortunately, you cannot go back to iOS 6. Downgrading the iOS is not supported by Apple and there is nothing that you can do about it now. If you are having specific problems or need help with certain issues, I'm sure that somebody will be able to help you.

    Hi tk3750
I found the following information which may be helpful:
iOS: Changing the signed-in iTunes Store Apple ID account
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1311
    Changing your Apple ID account
Tap Settings > iTunes & App Stores, then tap the Apple ID signed in.
Sign out of the current Apple ID account and then sign in with another account or create a new Apple ID.
    Thanks,

  • Ipod Touch is stuck at apple logo sign.

I found my ipod touch 3rd gen under my sofa recently (it's been there for probably more than 4 years). I tried to update it but it's stuck at apple logo sign and it won't turn on to home screen. What can I do?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
