Is apple support chat video call or just normal chat?

need to get my computer looked at but dont want to be on video chat haha

An older Mac without a camera can be used to Chat with Apple Support;
however you may have to experiment to find out for yourself. As a test
you could put tape over the camera just for this purpose...!
After all, if you have a real world problem, you may have to dust
off an old Mac, to contact support Chat about a newer model.
A joke, there; you could describe the issues and maybe someone here
could suggest things to try. Is the computer under an AppleCare plan?
Good luck & happy computing!

  • Does Apple TV supports Skype Video Calling?

Hi everyone! May I know, does Apple TV actually supports Skype Video Call?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
No, but if you believe that Apple's product may be enhanced in anyway you can leave feedback here.

  • Design a Apple HDTV with Video-calling, FaceTime, iTunes features and enter the HDTV market.

Apple please design a APPLE BRAND HDTV with FaceTime feature and revolutionize the HDTV with a built-in camera, with FaceTime and video-calling and iTunes features. Cisco is to expensive. Thus, making a video-call from my Apple HDTV to my iPhone or someone' Apple HDTV will be remarkable.

They won't be listening as this is a user to user forum.
I'm sure they'd be conducting the appropriate market reserach about other product avenues.
Real question if they ever did produce an integrated TV would be if it would sell well enough - imagine the Apple price premium on the TV and features and it probably wouldn't look as attractive to avreage consumers.
I would not rush out to buy a new TV just to do facetime on it.
The advantage of the STB approcah is it would be far easier for people to 'upgrade' their exisiting and perfectly good TVs if an STB could handle a 'plug and play' webcam over USB.

  • My video call icon on facebook chat has disappeared since upgrading to mavericks, any ideas anyone?

Since upgrading to Mavericks about a month ago, my video chat icon has disappeared from Facebook chat - I can't think of any other reason for this problem other than the upgrade to Mavericks. Any ideas anyone?

I'm also dealing with some slowness since moving to Mavericks — but mainly with regard to long lag times with the Finder when I go to rename files, move files, or delete files.

  • How to connect my friends apple notebook through video call

HOW TO CONNECT TO A FRIEND WHO IS USING APPLE NOTEBOOK FROM MY IMAC SUGGEST ME WAITING FOR A SOLUTION FROM APPLE TEAM SUPPORT

    Hi,
Typing in all upper case is regarded and shouting here.
Presumably as you have posted in the OS X 10.7.x (Lion) area you are running this version of the OS on your iMac.
This will have iChat 6 on it.
This can use AIM, Jabber and Yahoo IDs within the app.
Apple IDS ending in @mac.com and iCloud issued @me.com and @icloud.com are also Valid AIM Screen Names.
If you use Googlemail and Enable "talk" in the products there you can then use your Google Mail ID as a Jabber ID (although it has it's own Add Account option in iChat)
Facebook has an option to Enable "Chat" which will give you a Chat ID variant on your name there and this can be used in iChat (or Messages) as a Jabber ID.
The Yahoo Account will only do Text chats.
It also has to be an actual ID registered at Yahoo.
Chats are then AIM to AIM or Jabber to Jabber or Yahoo to Yahoo.
So your Buddy will also need a suitable ID or Screen Name  for the relevant service.

  • Has anyone ever had a 'apple support' person randomly call your house saying there's a problem with your computer?

Had someone from 'apple customer support' just call my house saying that there is a problem with my computer because there has been a lot of activity on it and asked me to turn it on so he could help me fix it.
There's nothing wrong with my computer first off..lots not even a Mac.
    Didn't give him any info
Anyone else heard about this happening as part of a scam?

I've read of some knowledgable users being able to string these scammers, who are probably mostly low-rent phone dialers with a script to follow, along for ten or fifteen minutes by asking all sorts of naive questions. The transcripts I've seen have been pretty funny. Here's a couple that make good reading:

  • 3G iphone cannot support video call & bluetooth only can for hand free

Hai... So suprise that the 3G iphone was below expectation. What a disappointment. They cannot even support 3G Video call and worst of all the blue tooth can only be used for hand free.
The software engineer should look at way to develop a more advance software and use.
    Problem encounter:
    1. We cannot copy and paste our text.
    2. Cannot scroll back to the last function we can only press the short cut key to get back to the main page and start all over again.
    3. 3G phone that cannot make 3G call
    4. Bluetooth function can only use to connect to hand free not able to send photo, music and etc...
    5. Cannot forward SMS
Here is some of the pointer. I have not fully explore the hp. totally disappointed and thing there is more. Hopefully more software update will solve this problems.

    Hi everyone!
Just a quick update here, but about two days since my original post, I've made a visit to the AT&T store with my dad, even though AT&T has nothing to do with the phone itself.  Then the AT&T service employee told us that a hard reset should do the trick.  Then before I did a full backup and restoration of my iPhone software, my dad called AT&T with no luck.  He also attempted to call Apple, but without success, b/c the phone was out of warranty.
So, as a last resort option, I performed a backup and did a full reset of the iPhone using iTunes to restore the phone back to where it was since the last iOS update, and the last iCloud backup.  The result:  it was worth the option because the whole phone's WiFi and Bluetooth got malfunctioned sometime few days ago and after that iOS 6.1.3 restoration, I got both the WiFi and the Bluetooth functions working properly!
The next time any iPhone user comes up with this same situation as mine in the earlier post, don't try visiting the AT&T store b/c they won't help with anything with the phones themselves, and backup and restore the whole iPhone as a last resort when every easy solution fails.

  • Why No Apple Support return calls?

Scheduled 3 calls with Apple Support, got one call and then hung up on. Called AppleCare directly, busy signal. Never had this happen before. Is anyone else having this problem? My iPhone is on, my sound is on, I used it earlier for a call, no problem.

    June 2011:
iWeb publishing, MobileMe Gallery, and iDisk will all disappear as the company sunsets its current online service in favor of iCloud.
Other MobileMe services—including syncing of Mac Dashboard widgets, keychains, Dock items, and System Preferences—will not be part of iCloud, Apple says. Those syncing services will stop working as soon you migrate from MobileMe to iCloud. In addition, Apple says that while MobileMe members can no longer upgrade to a Family Pack or buy additional MobileMe storage, Family Pack members will be able to transition their accounts to iCloud individually, as long as it’s done before June 30, 2012.

As of today, visitors to MobileMe.com are no longer given the option to convert their accounts to iCloud or to retrieve old photos and files, with Apple now simply pointing users to iCloud.

  • Skype Charges for Received Video Calls

Under Skype's current payment plan policy is there a charge to a Skype receiver of a video call?

Just wanted to post a more current reply. After spending some time today in online chat with VZ support, and having the rep tell me that incoming international calls ARE charged for roaming, and me persisting to get the correct answer ... she checked with global support and DID confirm Grothka's answer: that is, if the VZ customer is in the US and receives an international call, they are ONLY charged minutes; no additional fees.

  • Video Calling Apps? iPad 2 (Deaf)

    Hi Apple, iPad 2,
I've recently purchased a iPad 2 after 12 hours wait at UK apple store.  I'm profoundly deaf myself, a british sign language user. FaceTime nowadays are not popular enough but I don't even know how to use them.
UK deaf community including a british sign language user does not really use a FaceTime nowadays.
However....they normally use a Facebook chat video calling, window live video calling, yahoo video calling, and Skype video calling, etc.
These video calling above are not actually available on apps store for iPad 2. I'm really disappointed.
I also want to say that Camfrog video calling for 121 video chat, they actually do not work! Camfrog video app should be removed from app store cos I've paid for it!
Can anyone please help me this issue? What's shall I do?
I would be grateful if you can help me on this because myself as a sign language user, I really do need to communicate to deaf people.
    Thank you so much.
    Lee.

Tell Facebook, skype and microsoft you are disappointed in their lack of iPad support-it's their responsibility to provide the apps, not Apple.
You can only use the video chat apps available in the app store that developers have actually developed.
