Is Apple tv ready to play 3D movies?

I want to play 3D movies on my smart tv. Is Apple tv ready for this use?

There is no 3D content in iTunes, so whether it is ready or not is a bit irrelevant.

I've tried restoring the TV, updating my iTunes - nothing is working. It is definitely not playing on my computer.

Sign in to your iTunes account settings on the computer (click on the AppleID top right if you're actually signed in).
In your purchase list find the purchase and use the 'Report a problem' link to tell the store.
Assume you've not moved the rental to another device where it resides but is not being played.

Apple TV won't play my movies from iTunes

I just purchased my Apple TV and I can't movies I bought on iTunes. I can see my purchased tv shows but the only movies available are rentals. Any ideas on how I can find my purchased movies?

You can't redownload movies as you can TV shows, you'll need to play them via your iTunes library on your computer using homesharing.

Apple tv freezes when playing rented movies

This is a new issue for me. Every time I rented a movie from the Apple TV(3Gn) the movie doesn't download or freezes. Sometimes the Apple TV restart by itself. Also when I play movie trailers, sometimes it doesn't download the trailer completely. I ran a speedtest and the downloads are above 20Gbps. By the other hand, Nexflix runs excellent without any problems at all. Please I need help to fix this situation. Thanks!

That may indicate interference. Netflix adapts to the connection whereas iTunes content is fixed. First try rebooting ATV and router. Make sure DNS is set to automatic (settings - general - network).
If on wifi try ethernet. Go to istumbler (Mac) or netstumbler (PC) to get a report, look for signal strength and noise.

When watching on Apple TV, iTunes is playing another move.

Whenever I watch or browse my playlists on Apple TV, iTunes react as well in making clicking noises, playing songs or playing movies. Why is this?

If you don't want to use a remote with your computer the easiest thing to do is just to turn the IR off. (System Preferences > Security > General, click on the Advanced button in the bottom right corner - If the button is greyed out, click on the lock icon and enter your administrators password))
If you still want to use your computer remote then you must pair your computers remote with the computerAND the Apple TV remote with the Apple TV.
To pair a remote with a device hold down the menu and FF buttons together for six seconds or until you see a chain icon on screen (best take the computer into another room, or turn it off, when you do this)

Apple tv won't play my movies movies without authorization.

I am really frustrated now. I have complained about this is recently, but things seemed to have worked themselves out. I am really annoyed that everytime I try to watch a movie on my hotel TV, through Apple TV it asks for computer authoriztion, for the content that I purchased.

Yes, this is a right pain in the neck with AppleTV2 that did not seem to affect AppleTV1 in quite the same way.
I'm not clear if you have an internet connection or not, but from memory without one (when I tried using AppleTV 2 to play some pucrhased Mickey Mouse cartoons on vacation streamin from a Mac Mini), AppleTV2 falls over trying to authorise. Same issue if trying to Airplay purchased content from an iPad/iPhone. Of course home brewed content played fine as it did not need authorisation.
My solution in the end was to hook the Mini up to the TV via HDMI and use that instead - no need for authorisation on playback it seemed.
It's quite galling that you legitimately purchase media and can't play it.
(AppleTV1 worked better in this regard, even without an internet connectiuon if things had been previously played back - I think).

Rented a movie and when I go to watch it, the screen is white and I skip through it and it remains white the whole time. I tested my other movies and they are all doing the same thing. I have enough room on my apple tv so it's not that and I have perfect Internet connection and so other then that I have no idea what the problem could be and there doesn't seem to be any way to fix it on the tv it's self. First world crisis... Help please

I've been having the same issue, I tried to rent the original Total Recall tonight (because i saw the latest one,and it was super bad) The Rental said 52 minutes before it would play, so i waited. After 52 minutes, i tried starting it and only got 10 minutes in, and the audio was off from the picture. So i tried buying it thru iTunes on my desktop, and the HD version says 6 hours to download (it's been 3, and now it says 7 hours to go) the SD said 3 hours to download (It's been 3 hours, and it says 4 hours to go)
I just finished watching the SD version using my PS3, and it took under 5 minutes to download the whole movie. So the problem is not my Internet. It is Apple. Looks like i will be throwing my 2 APV's in the garbage.

Apple TV Will Not Play Some Movies

I have a digital copy (Diary of a Wimpy Kid) that came with a Blu Ray for iTunes. Have it loaded on my iPhone 4 running 4.2. I get an error when I try to play it via AirPlay on Apple TV.
To be clear, I have done the update on the ATV and other movies, music video and photos work perfectly - why an issue with a licensed digital copy?

Apple tv won't play purchased movies. Message itunes unavailable

Getting very frustrated. We have a large library of movies and music which we are unable to watch. We have a good wifi connection, latest software versions, have turned every on and off etc etc but keep getting the same message. "I tunes is currently unavailable. Try again later". We have been trying for days!!
Not impressed. Is any one else suffering from the same un explained problems.?

This is happening to loads of people including myself. Haven't been able to access content since last week. My ID won't work, but my husband's will. Tried logging out/in, rebooting ATV, rebooting router - everything - to no avail. From what I'm reading, this problem lies with Apple and everyone is waiting anxiously for them to fix it. As it's Thanksgiving week in the US, I don't know how soon they will fix it. All I know is I'm not spending any more money on Itunes until fixed.

Play rented movies on Apple TV

I'm new to Apple TV. All goes well, except I cannot figure out how to "move" a "rented movie" from "In Your iTunes Library" to "On 'Apple TV.'" I'm connected to the internet via "AirPort." I click on "move," and the movie moves from "In Your iTunes Library" to "On 'Apple TV.'" I click on "Apply." After the "Syncing Apple TV" operates for awhile, the movie moves back to "In Your iTunes Library" and does not load onto Apple TV / appear in "Devices," "Apple TV,"Movies". I am doing "Custom Sync," as I do not want to load my music on a 40G Apple TV, so I have unchecked "Sync Music." Movies, podcasts and photos are set-up to sync. Help! Thank you!

Since it was now to late to watch a movie I left it and checked in the AM. Movie was "ready to watch" but I was not ready to watch a movie over breakfast. Now when I look for it in my movies it is not there. Am I looking in the correct place?
Called Apple to ask them but they could not tell me because my Apple care support had expired. Happy to charge me $40 to get my $4.00 movie though...Hope this is not the experience others are having.

Apple tv won't play movies and there is no green light

The green light is not on, and the apple tv will not play a movie. I have reset and restored already to factory settings. Any ideas? When it says the movie is ready, we hit play, screen goes blank for 3 minutes, then apple tv restarts on it's own and goes to the apple tv recovery screen.

The status light is gray, so it is not setting off any "alarms", everything else is working, but when I go to watch a movie, rented or owned, it times out and resets itself. I ran a diagnostic and it said everything was working properly, I reset to factory settings and still had the same problem, and even reset the Airport to make sure it was not just the connection.
At a complete loss as to any other ideas to try to get her up and running again. No way am I going anywhere near an Apple Store with all the iPad hype that is out right now!!!!!!

Rented Movies On Apple TV Will Not Play.

I rented an HD movie today and it has taken about 3 hours to download 21%.
It will not allow me to watch the movie at all.
I thought there was instant viewing after only a couple of seconds?
Is anyone else having this problem?

IPod Touch 5 Cannot Play Purchased Movies on TV

I used to be able to play the movies I bought on iTunes on a TV using the HDMI out adapter from Apple. Now when I try to play the it says that the device is not enabled to play the content. It starts playing and then stops and the message displays on the iPod. I noticed that this started happening after the last update. Even movies I purchased a year ago are doing the same thing. Movies that I didn't get from iTunes are playing fine. Do the iTunes movies have a special protection on them? Why would Apple not let us play the movies we purchased on a TV? It just doesn't make sense. I don't think I'll be visiting the iTunes store anymore unless something changes. Show your support and let Apple know!

I have followed the links supplied earlier in the day.
The "Create new version" option is greyed out in iTunes 11.
I have also downgraded to iTunes 10, which has the same effect.
I would try to convert with QuickTime Pro, but its not free.
Looks like a refund would be the best option, as i thought iTunes was simply drag & drop.
They know what Apple products i own/use, from the settings in my iTunes account. Surely.. "What device would you want to download for?" would be a wise option upon purchase..
