Is Audition 3.0 toast?

Needed to change my computer - old one was XP so I now have Win7 - and did a reinstall of my Audition 3.0 program and everything was working fine until today.  As of yesteday it worked and today I get a mssg that the serial number is invalid.   After trying a few things I contacted support who suggested I download a 'free' version which I did.  But, both with this free version and with my 3.0 program I cannot either install, uninstall or repair the program.
Two questions - is version 3.0 toast and I need to look elsewhere?
Is there a new version of Audtion that I can't see on the Adobe site?
I have been using Audtion for many years and it did everything I need.  So far I have had no help that is of any use from Adobe support.
Thanks

Guys, a big thank you for your help.  It looks like I now have it working but I'll keep my fingers crossed for a while since the previous installation worked for a couple of weeks.  Full details below but you don't need to read if you don't want the full horror story!
I did struggle through the file deletion process that you pointed me to - I'm far from being that functional with a computer so really dreaded what I might be doing to my system - but after what is now many unproductive hours on this, it seems to be ok.
It looked like I had removed everything so I tried to do the install from the download link with the new version and it seemed to install just fine - all the way to telling me that the install was complete.  Happily clicked the icon to start the program and I got a pop up telling me the serial number was wrong!  I was sure I had copied it properly, hyphens and all, just as it looked on the download page.  So tried to do a 'repair' install that also got all the way through and told me that it was fine.  Tried to open the program again, no luck.
This time I did an unistall of the program which seemed to work and then went back and did a new install this time after going back to the Adobe download site to verify the serial number.  However this time on the install I did not insert the hyphens between the series of numbers and once again it told me the install was successful - and it was, 'cause I've just started the program and it seems to be functional.
This just shouldn't be this hard!!  Like I said above, I'm not computer wiz, I'm just a musician looking to record/edit my music.  If  I do have any more problems I'm just going on to another program that I have been told about and looked into while getting sooooooo frustrated at all this.
So if you did read this far, I want to thank you again for your help.  Would not have gotten to this point with just what I was getting from Adobe support - I don't think they care, they just tried to sell me the new Audition CS.

    Hi
There are two structures of DVDs
    • Data-DVD - as burned from DeskTop/Finder
    • Video-DVD - to be played on a DVD-Player - Needs a program that can do this
One can in iMovie - Export as QuickTime .mov and save this via DeskTop/Finder onto a DVD - BUT this will only play on a Computer and if it is a Window-PC this needs to download QT-player or VLC-player.
But no DVD-player for TV can play back this.
To get a Video-DVD then You need
    • iDVD (not from Apple any more) - or -
    • DVD Studio Pro (not from Apple any more) - or -
    • FinalCut Pro-X (can do simple Video-DVDs) - or -
    • Burn - http://www.digital-digest.com/software/Burn.html - FREE - but very PLAIN - no fancy things at all.
    • Roxio Toast™ 11 Pro - Fairly advanced - and costs a bit - still very Good and lot's of great tool's included. (I love it) - Can also back convert home made DVDs to an editable mode in an OK quality. With BD-component also capable to do sort of Blu-Ray DVDs.

  • Adobe Audition 6 and Mackie MCU Pro Control Surface

I have recently opbtained a Mackie MCU Pro Control Surface, for use with Adobe Audition CS6. At first I used it with an HP i7 running Windows 8. It worked like a dream, doing everything that I expected of it. Now, I have plugged it to my Laptop, running Windows 7 Home Premium. Sadly it refuses to respond to any commands in either direction. The PC giives the two-note ackowledgment that the USB is comminucating. However, that's as far as it goes.
Audition on the laptop knows what's connected and all options offer the USB connected device correctly named. Whatever I do, there is no sign of the Mackie MCU Pro waking up. It just seems to sit there, probably thinking it's a 'fridge or a toaster.
Has anyone else used this combination and did it work OK? I'm sure I'm mssing something obvious and there's an 'enable' of some sort. Can anyone offer any thoughts?
Thabk you for your time and help.
    Alan

I have completely reset the Laptop (Packard Bell Easynote) to factory defaults and reinstalled Audition from scratch. It is now exactly the same as that installed on the desktop, except that the Laptop is Windows 7 (64-bit Home Premium) and the Desktop is Windows 8.
I was hopeful that a fresh install of Audition CS6 would set the Mackie Control Surface off and running. Sadly, it is not the case.
    So:
With precisely the same software (same source and same S/N) the Mackie worlks correctly with the Desktop but doesn't work at all with the laptop.
Just for the record, when plugging the USB from the Mackie to the laptop, it produces the usual two-tone acknowledgement that it is seeing something it recognises, but that is as far as it goes.
I'm now at a loss. Does anyone have any further thoughts?
    Many thanks,
    Alan

  • Most of my equipment has toasted, and I need the data back.

I must have been a very, very bad person in a past life. This week has been more technologically harrowing than I'd thought possible.
My cherished Titanium Powerbook died after a valiant battle, and the Apple techs said that there was nothing they could do, Apple just doesn't support such antiques (not sure if they meant me or the PB). They did let me download my files onto my 80G Smartdisk FireLite, and though the PB hard drive was acting a bit wonky and transfer was slow, I got most of the files. Most everything already had been backed up on the FireLite, but I grabbed the remainder. This means that My Entire Life resided on the FireLite.
I was about to download the files onto the G4 cube, and plugged in a USB hub with an optical mouse and a jump drive on it--and something started to burn. The jump drive, the mouse, and the hub fried. Now it looks as though the well-named FireLite is toast too, since though it powers up, it won't mount and nothing recognizes it. The cube is fine.
I still have the hard drive from the late lamented Powerbook, so if it holds up a bit longer, I ought to be able to save most if not all the files. Can I do this myself if I can get an external case to power the PB drive? And if the PB drive does indeed hold up, could I continue to use it? (This would be helpful, since the MacBook Pro won't run Classic, which is necessary in the short term for all my current programs and most peripherals.)
If an external case is feasible, can someone give me specs for what to get? I'm hoping it's affordable, though I'd also look for one to borrow.
If it isn't feasible, would someone please shoot me now?
    Thanks.

    Hi A,
Just one thought to add: I would get a FireWire enclosure so if you ever want to clone an entire HD on a Mac, you would then have a secure backup which was also able to boot said Mac.

  • Steps to troubleshoot and get past common problems with Audition

When you encounter a problem with Audition, the following steps are often useful for getting past the problem and/or determining the cause of the problem:
    1.  Hold down SHIFT while you launch Audition
This overrides the preference files and launches Audition using the default settings.
    2.  Manually rename or delete the preferences folder
Step 1 only overrides certain preference files, while others such as Workspace preference files, may be the cause of the problem.  Depending on your OS, locate the "5.0" folder in the location below and rename it or delete it.
         Windows XP: C:\Document and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Adobe\Audition\5.0\
         Windows Vista/7: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Audition\5.0\ *
         Mac OS X: ~\Library\Preferences\Adobe\Audition\5.0\ **
              * "AppData" may be a hidden folder.  You can type it into the location bar, or enable "Show Hidden Files" in Windows.
** This is your user-level Library folder, not the system-level tree.
    3. Check your Audition Log.txt file
To enable a log file with CS 5.5, you must create an empty file in your preferences folder called "Audition Log.txt" using notepad, text edit, or any other editor.  After you create this file, launch Audition and if it fails, open and/or share the log file for more specific information about what's happening.
    4. Check the Operating System console or error log
Both OS X and Windows can track application errors, and if the problem is occurring outside of the application code - a driver conflict, for example - then the OS error report may be more informative than what we can get from the application.
OS X: launch /Applications/Utilities/Console.app   Clear the view, then launch Audition and note any error messages that appear.
Windows: launch Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer > Windows Logs > Application then launch Audition and note any error messages that appear.
    5. Re-install Audition
If at this point, nothing has resolved the issue or the error logs are inconclusive, it's a good time to uninstall Audition, reboot, and reinstall Audition.
    6. Obtain the full crash dump and send it to the Adobe team
So you've walked through all the above steps, you've disconnected any external hardware interfaces to rule out any device or driver conflicts, and you've exhausted the basic troubleshooting steps.  Visit http://forums.adobe.com/thread/900619 and follow the steps for your OS that Charles has documented to best obtain a full crash memory dump for Audition, and send that to [email protected] with a description of the problem and the steps you've taken, and we'll take a look.

Firstly yes these are common problems and secondly hopefully they will be fixed with updated software 2.1 which is due for release this coming Firday!

  • How to open .AC3 files in Audition CS5.5

As the latest Adobe Audition 5.5 does not have the codec/plugin for opening .AC3 files, I need to download and install the latest QuickTime player for the required codec/plugin.
However, after installing the QuickTime Player, Audition 5.5 seemed to open the .AC3 file I've selected but the whole duration of the AC3 file is blank and has nothing in the waveform. I could not hear anything during the playback.
The fact is that when the AC3 file is playing through the Windows Media Player 12 with AC3Filter, the file can be heard and has no error.
Does anyone know the solution to this issue?

The D7000 was first supported in Camera Raw 6.3.

  • 5.1 Surround Export from Audition Gives "Header Error" in Premiere

Hello - I have a finished surround mix that has been exported to 5 mono stems that I need to use for a DVD.  In Audition CC 2014 I created a new multitrack session and selected the, "Surround Stems for Video Master" template.  I verified that all stems are playing on the audio meter and then selected Export / Multitrack Mixdown / Entire Session.  In the export window I selected Wave PCM, 48000 Hz, 5.1, 16 Bit.  The resulting file for the 2:15:00 project is 4.8 GB.  It plays fine in Finder and VLC.  When I try to import the 5.1 Wave file into Premiere CC 2014 I get an error that says, "The file cannot be opened because of a header error."
In Audition I have RF64 support selected.  Is this possibly a file size issue being over 4 GB?  If I set in and out points in Audition and use the same export settings the file imports into Premiere successfully.  I need to use the full quality of the audio file when I export the Dolby AC3 file from Premiere so I do not want to compress this.  Is there any setting that I can change in Premiere?  Has anyone else had success importing a surround file that is larger than 4GB on a Mac?
    Thank you!
Specs:  iMac, 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7, latest OS, latest versions of Adobe CC (PP 8.0, Audition 7.0)

I've had the same issue.  Export audio to a MOV or AVI file format in Audition or audacity.  They are movie containers, but hold audio as well, and will get past the 4gb file size limit.
Unfortunately, you cannot export back out of Premiere to audition straight out.  You will have to do one of the following to get it to work how you want:
    1. Blade at several points along your initial clips, and then edit in audition (the new spare files will be in place and will work just fine).
    2. Use the MOV or AVI audio to replace the audio in the session once you get there.
On the send back to premiere, you'll have to conform to MOV or AVI audio PCM.  Its a bit more work than most are used to, as you'd expect it to "know" the file is too big, but it really cannot tell from the container.  If a limit of a file is about an hour of audio at 96k32bit float, then they could hard limit that by seconds count, and switch to using MOV instead, which would still function normally, and they wouldn't have to do anything else.  Or they could add support for W64 and larger formats.

  • Adobe Audition has encountered a problem and needs to close.

I have been using Audition 2.0 on this computer for quite some time and suddenly now when I open it, I get the cryptic error dialogue:
"Adobe Audition has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience.  If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost.  For more information about this error, click here."
When I click for more information, it's something useless like:
AppName: audition.exe    AppVer: 2.0.5306.2    ModName: unknown
    ModVer: 0.0.0.0   Offset: 65726168
Nothing on my computer has changed.  There are no viruses.  I have not added any new audio plug-ins.  I am completely up to date with all critical Windows XP SP3 updates and none have been downloaded and installed recently anyway.
I searched the knowledgebase and found a document that suggesting many things to try.  I tried them all, including running the Windows hard disk "check disk" tool with options to fix file system errors and recover bad sectors. I also defragmented the hard drive.  Lastly, I completely uninstalled Audition, then  manually deleted any remaining files, including registry entries as suggested in another knowledgebase article.
I then re-installed Audition 2.0 and it did exactly the same thing!  This it maddening.  Now it gets even more interesting.  I discovered that if I start up the
Adobe ExtendScript Toolkit that Adobe Audition installed also, then try to launch Audition from the toolkit, IT STARTS CORRECTLY!  I can then close the toolkit and use it like normal.  Weird work-around.
What the heck could possibly be going on?  Anyone have any ideas?  I've attached the error log file that is generated by the error but I doubt it will be of much help.
    Thanks!
    Steve in Chicago

stevefoobar2: I may have found a solution for you.
I had the same thing happen to me today. I was using Audition 2 this morning without any problems. But this afternoon, it started giving me the exact same error with no apparent reason. Nothing on my system had changed.
So I uninstalled it and installed Audition 3 in its place. Audition 3 continued to have the same problem that Audition 2 had, so we can assume that this is not something that was changed between versions.
But my attention was brought to the fact that you and I are both running Windows XP SP3 fully up-to-date. So I thought I'd try seeing it from the angle of a problem with Windows instead of Audition, and see if I didn't get a better result -
First, I logged on to Windows as Administrator. This may or may not be required, but you'll probably want to do it just in case (you'll see what I mean later). At this point, Audition still crashed the same way when I opened it, so I moved on to my next troubleshooting strategy -
Instead of opening Audition directly, I right-clicked the Audition icon and selected "Run as..." This may seem odd since I was already logged in as Administrator, but it proved to be the solution in my case.
In the "Run As" diolog, there are two main options: run as current user, or run as another user.
Since I was already logged in as Administrator, I could safely select the first option (run as current user). But here's the catch: selecting the first option allowed me to UNcheck the box underneath that says "Protect my computer and data from unauthorized program activity" (see the attached picture)
Audition opened without any problems when I did this.
This makes me think that one of the Windows security features suddenly decided to block something that Audition was trying to do, crashing the program in the process. By turning off this security feature, the problem was solved. And I only had to do it once. Every time afterwards, Audition has opened without any problems when I simply open it from my desktop. Perhaps Windows now remembers not to block Audition in the future.
However, I have not restarted my computer yet, or logged off as Administrator. You may need to tweak this solution if you plan to do either of these things. You may end up having to "Run as" Audition every time you restart your computer or log off. You may even need to select the SECOND option, and run the program as Administrator with the appropriate password.
Anyway, this was the only post I could find on Adobe.com concerning this problem, so I thought I'd post my solution in case it helped someone else.

  • Can I view video in analog form from Audition? and if so what version?

I am using Pro 1.5 and Audition 1.5 and I would like to use the multitrack audio out along with the (analog) video output to a projector. I can't see it in Audition and from reading I thought there might be a way to link PRO and AUD to get it done. Is there a way?

Well, you've found all I was hoping for you and better.  Those upstarts over at Reaper...  so much less programming overhead (and probably no free time either!).  Hopefully Adobe will "catch up" someday, but one thing Reaper can't do is offer inter-program compatability between Premiere, Audition, etc.  That's the sort of features that slow down direct-to-monitor previews but strenthen the larger picture.
Anyway, glad you found that and good success to you.

  • Audit Data in BI Publisher Standalone

    Hi:
I'm trying to audit who/what/when BI reports are run and I've got the BI Publisher user from XDO_USER_NAME but I need to find out what report is being run. I don't know of an existing XDO parameter or anything else that has that. So I'm trying to set it in the .rtf file as a parameter and get that as an argument to a report trigger but it's not working. Assuming I have the parameter defined in the data template, the .rtf and the database package, what's wrong with the following format (or is it just not possible to do what I want to do?)?
    Thanks
The parameter in the .rtf file is defined as:
<?param@begin:rpt_name;’”numUnsuccAuthnsDT.rtf”’?>And I see it in the report page by using
    Report Name is: <?$rpt_name?>
    <dataTrigger name="insertAuditData" source="BI_DataTemplateRT.insertAuditData(:rpt_name)"/>And the BI_DataTemplateRT package has a function:
    FUNCTION insertAuditData(rpt_name varchar) RETURN BOOLEAN;

I am on Oracle 11.1.1.7 BPM suite on W8 64 bit. I can't launch the flow trace and get the error "Unable to get the composite instance for the invocation. This could be because instance has not yet been created or because the audit level for the SOA infra has been set to Off".  I have set the audit level to development at the soa-infra>SOA Administration> Common Properties > Audit level set to development and Capture Composite Instance State is Checked.
    Can somebody advice.
    Thanks

Can you please confirm me the following steps...
Log in to the EM console, Expand soa-infra (soa_server1) , go to the partition where your composite is been deployed, Click on your composite, On the right, click on the dropdown Settings and choose Composite Audit Level. you can choose to set the Audit Level for this composite. If you choose Inherit, it will take the settings to what the server is being set to. Otherwise, we can override it by choosing Off, Production, or Development.
Make sure your setting for that composite is not Off, keep inherit or production or development.

  • Unable to capture Exchange Mailbox Auditing events for email creation

We are looking to capture Owner mailbox auditing events using the native Exchange 2013 auditing tools (Search-MailboxAuditLog). I have auditing enabled with all actions for Owner, and capture items performed via Outlook, except for new emails created.
If I create new emails via OWA, I am able to capture the event, but as soon as I go back to Outlook and create a new message, I don’t see anything audited. I also tried this is our Dev environment and seeing the same behavior. Has anyone else experience this
    behavior?

    Hi,
I have a test in my environment. If I create a message on Outlook as a owner, the mailbox audit logging can't record it.
If I create a message on Outlook as a delegate, when using the Search-MailboxAuditLog cmdlet to search the audit log, it will be displayed as follows:
The operation is "SendAs", not "Create".
Hope this can be helpful to you.

  • Licensing stopped working CS2 Adobe Audition

So I'm having similiar problems the other guy had with Photoshop CS3 where the window pops up and tells me to activate the software. So I follow the dialogue and then I get a window that says it's unable to acitvate the software at this time and to call the phone activation (error code 93:-12). The nice lady in tech support told me, and I kid you not, that your licensing software has stopped working because you are using CS2 and we are currently in version CS4, you'll need to upgrade in order to continue using your software. Of course I was outraged, but I know she can't help me and knows nothing past what her superiors or computer screen tells her, so I thank her and hang up. My brother, who used to work at Adobe before they fired everyone in tech support and outsourced everything to India, told me start a thread on here. I really think it's just a licensing software issue, but I don't know how to fix it. I tried finding that flexnet folder, but I got nothing. FYI, Audition WAS working about 2 weeks ago, about the time I was having troubles with Premiere Pro CS3 (which now works thanks to lots of tinkering, which might have broken Audition). I just need a copy of Master Suite CS4

I just sent this email to friends who are Adobe users.  This posting may get this thread put into a black hole someplace, but I don't care.
Just had a little problem with an Adobe program I had, Photoshop CS2.  I had gone thru an XP restore and then back again.  That process lost my Photoshop CS2 program activation.  A window popped up that instructed me to reauthorize it by pressing the appropriate window button, up came error: 93:-12, and a message to get activation via telephone.  When I called, I found that they could not give me the code.  Could not....could not....how about WOULD NOT?
I Googled on error: 93:-12, and found a number, not great yet, of people who were having a similar experience and who were getting the identical responses from Adobe.  I spent the last few days trying to get answers on this.  I made about 6 phone calls to them trying to get help and answers.  First of all, I just got Photoshop CS4.  Please note that they do not advertise or advise of any incompatibility with CS2 programs.  Anyway, here are some answers gathered from 4 - 5 tech support people in India:
    * CS4 is not compatible with earlier versions and you cannot have both on...well, I did for several days till I lost authorization via performing and XP restoration.
    * I must update all my CS2 programs to new Adobe programs for $$$.
    * I can try reinstalling, but that may not work, and that is too bad.
    * There is limited life to Adobe products and after an undefined time, they will not be activated by Adobe.
    * Their servers were changed to not allow activation of older products because they are overwhelmed with blah, blah, blah.
    * They cannot manually provide me with the code to put in the appropriate spaces on my desktop form because they don't have any programing available to generate these keys!
    * The programs we have had many updates and this makes it impossible to activate their operation.
These, so-called "Tech Support" responses are laughable.  This is all obviously BS, and, I think, illegal.  Can you imagine purchasing a car, whose ignition lock can become inoperable after 3 - 5 years, and then be told to buy a new car to work on the new roads and streets!
One of their excuses was that they were overwhelmed by customers with "old programs" and cannot afford the resources to devote to activation of our programs.  I hope you realize that there are unscrupulous people out there providing "code generators" that illegally activate Adobe programs.  If these people have the resources, why cannot Adobe just post a teenie-weenie little "code generator" file for all to use. After all, according to them, the programs are obsolete anyway?
I hope you understand, that you and I, and millions of other may be denied the operation of legal, paid-for programs that will work perfectly, but for which  Adobe refuses to supply operational activation.  They are willfully and consciously denying us the use of program we purchased from them.  Only one day after I did a system restore, the program was too old to be "supported,"  that is, by the simple act of permitting us to use the program we already paid for.  We aren't asking for free support, but the right to use what we paid for.  All you have to do is get a new hard disc, or new computer, and programs only 3 - 5 years old, that previously had worked flawlessly, will be turned off by Adobe.
If you have his problem, or have it in the near future, I suggest you call and complain. Try (as I did unsuccessfully) to escalate to a higher authority or obtain contact with their legal department, or to anyone with whom you can file a formal complaint.  I would also take notes on their statements.  One of the best things you can do, is write a formal complaint to your State Attorney General, or whatever they are called in your locale.  If in foreign countries, you probably have local or governmental prosecutors.  These people just love to justify their positions and often act upon citizen complaints.
