Is Bad To Charge My iPad 3 Every Day

I just got my iPad 3 a couple of weeks ago and it's ok. I could say that it great but the battery drains really quick. So i was thinking i could change the way i charge my iPad. Instead of charging it every 2 days to 90%, then the third day drain it down to 0 and charge it to 100% ( that's what i used to do with my first gen iPad' it worked perfect ), is it bad for the battery if i charge my new iPad every day? I don't want to hurt it more then how it came with new, so i don't know if i can charge it every single day to 90% and some other day in the week drain it all the way down and have it full charge. If i charge it every day theni can add more brightness which i would really like to, and add some location services, and maybe use it more! But please tell me if i should not do it because it could hurt the battery down the road. Thank you and give me tips on how to enjoy the new iPad more! Thanks!

It doesn't make any real difference how you use or charge the battery just so long as the battery gets used and charged as it's needed.

Is it bad to charge your iPad when there is like 30% left ?

Question: What is a "charge cycle"?
Answer: Lithium-ion batteries can be charged a finite number of times, as defined by charge cycle. A charge cycle means using all of the battery's power, but that doesn't necessarily mean a single charge. For instance, you could use to your iPad for a few hours one day, using half its power, and then recharge it fully. If you did the same thing the next day, it would count as one charge cycle, not two, so you may take several days to complete a cycle. Each time you complete a charge cycle, it diminishes battery capacity slightly, but you can put your iPad's battery through many charge cycles before it will only hold 80 percent of its original battery capacity.
Don't worry about it, since the battery will take 1000s of charge cycles.
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • Is it bad to charge an ipad from an ipod/iphone charger?

I've plugged my ipad into my ipod/iphone charger and it works. But it takes forever for it to charge. I just wonder if it's bad for it to charge from that charger? Am I frying the battery?
    Thanks

  • HT4060 Hi, i have been charging my ipad for 4 days now yet the power stays the same at 5%. They ipad shows the charging flash yet seems not to be charging. Can anyone please help?

Hi, i have been having problems charging my ipad3 for some time now (very slow). The power is now down to 5% and i have been charging it for 4 days now without any movement. The charging flash is showing yet does not seem to be charging. Please can anyone help.

Are you trying to charge it plugged into the wall with its supplied power brick? It's best charged that way.
You can try to swap out the power brick and cable to either rule those out or rule them in as the issue.
You can also try giving your iPad a reset. Hold down the sleep and home keys until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and try again.

  • I have  to charge my iphone 4 every day. I bought it one week ago.

I think there is something wrong with the battery. Battery performance is totally different from what Apple claims.
I turn off push and location service. I don't have any email account set up on my iphone.
Does anyone have the ideas? Thanks in advance.

To be honest, I don't have much time to play with my iphone 4. What I am sure is that it is totally different from what Apple claims.
Apple recommends that I should charge the iphone 4 to 100% and drain it completely. What does "drain it completely" mean - to 0% or to around 20% where "low battery warning" appear?
Draining it completely means from 100% or wherever your battery is left, you are draining it down to 0%, where it will automatically power off because there isn't much power left to the device. Technically speacking, once the phone reaches 1%, it will take a few minute and the phone will completely shut off. This is how you know you drained the battery.
Try resstoring the phone and set up as new and see if that fixes the issue. If not, you might have to drop in at the apple store and have them check it out.

  • Every day use as a hard drive

is it bad to use tc as a every day hard drive i use a 750 gb g drive for time machine an was jus wanting to kno if it was bad to do or is it jus like using any other hard drive

I'm not sure how to interpret your question.  By "TC" do you mean "Time Capsule"?  Do you have a Time Capsule?  How is the 750 GB drive connected to the rest of your system?  Are you asking if you can use for other things a volume that Time Machine is using for its backups?  If so, that's not a good idea.  For one thing, Time Machine by design will eventually consume all the space on that volume, which will cause problems for anything else you have on it.  For another thing, Time Machine won't be backing up those files on the Time Machine disk, which means you'll only have one copy of them.

  • Is it bad to charge iPhone every night even if it still has charge?

New to iPhone. I've had an iPod touch but I've always waited to charge it when the low battery showed. I don't run the iPhone battery down every day, but I've been charging it through the night. Will this hurt it?

Actually it can, an iPhone fully charges between 2-4 hours  and over charging the battery can cause it to wear itself out and then your battery won't hold as much charge as you did when you bought it; this happened to my aunt's iPhone

  • When i am first charging my ipad i need to charg it special or normally like every other day?

I am first charging my ipad help please ;)

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
You have to charge it as usual. You can charge it when the battery gets 10%, and then, charge it until it reaches 100%. Don't use your iPad until it turns off because it's not good for the battery. If you want more information about batteries, read > http://www.apple.com/batteries/ipad.html

  • HT4060 When I charge my ipad on some occasions the plug gets very HOT.  the ipad still charges but slower.????

When I charge my ipad using the small UPSpower adapter, the adapter gets very HOT on about every third use.  It still charges but more slowly.  Is any one having a similiar problem??  An sugstions as to how to correct it???

Not staff or owner by a long shot.
I just know that anecdotally I have seen people reporting issues with their mini's charging. Is there a real issue or not? I don't know. Not a day goes by that a person doesn't post here complaining that their iPad won't charge and it turns out that they're trying to do it via USB or with the iPhone block.
But while there are a lot of user fixes sometimes it's good to have the pros take a look at things, and at the very least document that there has been an issue.
the four main reasons an iPad won't charge (beyond being plugged into a USB port)
    Bad cable
    bad outlet
    bad brick
rule those out and it leaves issue with the iPad.

  • My mac mini wont turn on but there is power to it as the usb port charges my iPad

My mac mini wont turn on but there is power to it as the usb port charges my iPad. My monitor uses a HDMI cable when the mac mini is off it says no input received which it does not say so it is receiving some signal from the mac mini. I have tried a different cable and a different monitor/ hdmi cable. The fan isnt running there is no start up noise but the little light on the front blinks every 4-5 seconds. Im booked in to see a GENIUS on sunday but I was wondering if there is anything I can do in the mean time. The mac mini is only 8 months old if that. Any ideas people? Oh the mac is also running mountain lion and has been since the day of release i've never had a problem up until this.

The following table lists the new tones and their meaning:
    Tone(s)          Description
1 tone, a 5-second pause, repeat          No RAM installed
3 successive tones, a 5-second pause, 3 successive tones          RAM does not pass data integrity check
1 long tone when holding down the power button          Firmware upgrade in process. See About firmware updates for Intel-based Macs for more details.
3 long tones, 3 short tones, 3 long tones          Firmware restoration from CD in process. See About the Firmware Restoration CD (Intel-based Macs) for more details.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2538
Can you count the beeps or flashes?
1 beep = no RAM installed
2 beeps = incompatible RAM types
3 beeps = no good banks
4 beeps = no good boot images in the boot ROM (and/or bad sys config block)
5 beeps = processor is not usable
In addition to the beeps, on some computers the power LED will flash a corresponding number of times plus one. The LED will repeat the sequence after approximately a 5-second pause. The tones are only played once.
Note: In this case, a flash is considered to be 1/4 second or 250 ms or greater in length.

  • Ipad 4 not charging with the ORIGINAL Power adapter that came in the box. Can't charge my iPad. I plugged in on PC all night and has been charged to 7%

Yesterday, as usual was going to charge my iPad, it was at 1%. Well, I took my ipad charger (original Apple official, I want to clarify that as a first step, I'm using the brand products than Apple) and plugged into an outlet ... The ipad began loading the first two minutes , then I got a notification telling me that the iPad could not charge with the charger.
I was quite surprised by the announcement. I disconnected and reconnected it .... again, I received the same notification. Then I disconnected and tried it on another outlet ... anything, yet. then I tried it on another outlet and ipad started charging. but after a while I had the same notice, not paying attention to that. I left it charging and I removed roughly 25% that of fear for something to happen. also remembered that situation (made 2-3 months ago where the iPad was not charging but after waiting a while disconnected, reconnected it and loaded normally).
so I decided to wait to re-connect the iPad to the outlet. This time, I plugged it into the outlet (fully discharged) at night and expected to find it loaded in the morning. But my surprise is that it still is off, it did not load anything.
I Bought the iPad in December 2012. Do you think that my iPad is hurt?
What can I do? Ay recommendation?
    Please, HELP ME!

Try giving your iPad a reset. Hold down the sleep and home keys until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and try again.  You may also want to swap out the cable, just to confirm or rule out that it's bad.
If none of those fixes work, make the appointment at your apple store and have them check it out.

Is it normal for someone to have general diffuculty charging an ipad?  I see the "not charging" message even when I am using the charger and cord that came in the original box, plugged into a wall socket directly.  It is normal for me to plug it in overnight and to see no charge whatsoever the next day.  I have never had so much trouble using a friggin charger in my life.  It just seems to be exceedingly finicky.  What am I missing?

Charging your iPad should not be problematic. It should be an easy thing to do using the charger provided with your iPad connected to a known good wall outlet.
The charging problem you are experiencing is most like caused by:
    1. A faulty charger
    2. A faulty cable
    3. A bad wall outlet
    4. A problem in the iPad.
The first three of these are easiest to eliminate. Try a for ends charger and cable. Make absolutely sure your outlet is good. Try other outlets.
If the charger, cable and outlet a proven to be good then the problem lies in the iPad.
Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

  • Why won't the data cable charge my iPad when connected to pc

For some reason when I connect my iPad to my pc with the supplied data cable it won't charge the iPad. It syncs ok but just won't charge it.
Is there a reason for this or do I need to get a different cable?
When I connect my iPhone to the pc with data cable from iPad, it charges my iPhone.
I just really need to know why it therefore won't charge my iPad.
The only way I can charge iPad up at the moment is by connecting it to the mains plug with data cable supplied

Bravo Blues#2. I often wonder what happens to some people when wrapped in the blanket of anonymity. Rather than use the faceless forum of an online discussion group to show the best in human nature, so often people become nasty, arrogant, or just plain anti-social.
    Thanks for saying something.
On another note, I consistently have a problem charging my iPads with any cable other than the short cable
supplied by Apple. I have purchased over a half dozen ten foot cables and they will charge my iPod and iPhone just fine. I have tried exchanging the cables, the chargers and the iPads. With every charger I reach the same result, I cannot find a ten foot cable that will charge my iPad. I could probably go to Apple and buy a cable from them, but they are SO expensive.
Suggestions?  What, other than length, is the difference between the short cables that come with the device and the longer cables I keep getting from eBay?
    Thanks much for your help.

  • Is it bad to charge my iphone over a 100% for an 1hour?

So I plugged my phone in to charge but totally forgot to check how much it was charged to  after a couple hours I look and it's 100%
Is it bad to charge your iPhone over a 100% this is my first time ever doing it and I have a iPhone 5s?

You can and should charge as often and as long as possible... deep discharges are hard on lithium batteries.  Normal mobile use will usually result in the one charge cycle/month that Apple recommends although it's OK to fully discharge and then recharge to 100% every once in a while to recalibrate the battery meter.
Also, you cannot overcharge the device, thus you can leave it plugged in as long as you like.
