Is Battery Power Garbage or do I have another issue?

Hi all,
Picked up a Z10 on Wednesday.
I love the OS. I've been supporting Blackberry for years. I really want to love this phone.
The battery life is a serious issue for me, and I want to know if something is wrong with my phone, or if this is the issue everyone is having. Should I return my phone to Telus? Are there settings I can change?
I charged overnight last night. I was at 100% when I unplugged at 7:40 or so. I hopped in my car at 8:00, and due to the questionable battery on Thursday (first full day) I plugged it in right away. Seemed like it was already dropping in those 20 minutes. I was in my car until about 9:00, with the phone plugged in. It is now 1:30, and my phone is at 25%. 75% gone in less than 4 hours. I can't make it through a work day. I can't make it through 3/4 of a work day, let alone making it through the amount of time I am awake.
My Bluetooth, WiFi and NFC were turned off about halfway through when I saw the battery plummeting. While depletion has slowed down, I still observed a 5% drop in about 20 minutes with NO USAGE. Throughout the 4 hours at work I have done nothing but text and BBM (I do a fair amount of BBMing, probably 40 messages sent / recieved). I have recieved a few emails. I have made about 5 phonecalls. The drain still seems ridiculous.
I checked Twitter twice. I recieved the odd Facebook notification. I close apps after I use them, and have yet to have one opened and used for more than 5 minutes.
Is my phone defective, or is the battery this poor? I am seeing people claiming they are making it 20+ hours. How? Are they letting the phone sit there idle? Am I doing something wrong? When not using the phone I press the top button, which I believe locks the phone. Should I not being doing this?
Help please.

I got decent battery life the firt few charges but it has increased over time. Having come from using Crapple products and also having a BB 9800 and 9810 for a couple years I know to turn down my screen backlighting, my screen time outs are set to 30 seconds or less, I keep wifi and bluetooth off unlesss actully using them but I am runing the phone in LTE mode, have network and data on at all times and I've had no problems at all.

  • My iPhone 4S runs out of battery power very quickly.  I have disabled all functions (ie location services, push notifications etc etc) that actively use power.  However, even when in standby mode for most of the day, I'm lucky to get 12 hours out of it.

I read in the press this might be a design fault.  Does anyone know how I can resolve this?

There is a huge thread discussing this problem: https://discussions.apple.com/message/16542550. There is a lot of discussion around locations services and the notification centre however many users are experiencing different levels of battery drain and there is no definitive fix at present.  You may want to try some of the 'fix' suggestion in those posts and that may help but I would urge to keep an eye on the thread as that is where the majority of the community is focussing and discussing the issue.  Also take a look at this recent article:http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2011/oct/28/iphone-4s-battery-apple-enginee rs.
I know it's little consolation but there many people experiencing the same problem.

  • I have another issue. Everytime I add a new mailbox , I get an error message in owa 2010 that it cannot access the mailbox

I go into the 2008 r2 dc and add a user. The 2003 dc has all of the fsmo roles. Then I go into the exchange server and add the new mailbox through the GUI. It runs the cmdlet and creates the new mailbox without any errors. Then I go in and try to access
the mailbox through owa and cannot access the mailbox. It says the mailbox does not exist. Both my 2003 dc(which I want to decommission) and 2008 servers are replicating. I see the user object on both servers. I have the email server pointed to the 2003 dns
server as my preferred dns. This just started happenning a couple of days ago. I dont know if a windows update caused this but everything was fine before Wednesday. All of the other users can access their mailboxes through owa just any new ones I created cannot.
In fact when I send a test email to the new account, I immediately get a bounce back so I dont think I would be able to access the new mailbox through outlook.

    Hello,
I recommend you check your exchange server using windows server 2003 DC or windows server 2008 DC.
Please use repadmin /showrepl command to check DC replication status.
Please check if there is related error in application log.

  • I have another issue with my NF980-G65

One of my fan power ports is not working. It's SYSFAN2. It just stopped working. I'll check in the bios to see if there's a on/off mode for it but curious as to why it stopped working.

Try another fan on that header and unplug all other system fan while you are testing.

  • IPhone 5 s, software iOS 7.1.1 BATTERY POWER

Since updating my phone just a few days ago, my battery power has been dropping dramatically. I've been to two apple stores in Sydney to try to rectify this, yet been unsuccessful. My battery is dropping 10% every hour on standby.
We have turned off location services, background apps refresh, wifi, cellular data, everything that would suck up the battery power.
I didn't have this issue with the iPhone 4, and now I'm really cheesed off.
Highly considering using a home phone landline attached to nothing will be more useful than the iPhone 5s, iOS 7.1.1
Am I suppose to carry a power cable and spare back up battery devices everywhere I go?

a solution of the problem does not exist unfortunately. all tips expressed here do not or only partially work.

  • T61 with Win 7 RTM won't sleep on AC power, will sleep on battery power

Wanted to start a new thread on this since the previous similar thread discusses the Win 7 beta and other issues while I and at least one other person have this same problem with Win 7 RTM.
My T61 (8891-CTO) will not go to sleep / suspend  when plugged in on AC power  running Win 7 RTM and current Win 7 Beta Drivers.   It will Hibernate on AC power.  It will sleep / suspend fine when on battery power.
When on AC power, the screen will dim when I try to get it to sleep but it will never actually suspend.   Moving the mouse turns the display back on and gives the Windows login screen.
Since everything else is working fine and sleep works on battery power but not AC, I have to assume this is a driver issue.
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Michael
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I figured out what was causing the problem on my system, so maybe this will help someone else.
The Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service was preventing my T61 from sleeping.  I stopped and disabled this service.  Sleep is working great now.

  • Suggestion on 2 or 4 ch portable (battery-power option) mic pre?

    Hi,
I am looking for four channels of mic pres to round out my 16-channel portable setup. My goal is to be able to run the whole system, computer, cards, and audio, from battery power. Right now I have:
    Powerbook G4 1.67
    MOTU Traveler
    RME Octamic-D
I would like to have 2 or 4 more pres that sound, if not excellent, then at least unique. Any suggestions people?
    PowerBook G4 1.67 2GB   Mac OS X (10.4.5)   Logic 7.2 / MOTU Traveler

i wasin your situation 3 weex ago...
I got the Mobile I/O from Metric Halo recommended and borrowed it along with a mini me an Motu Traveler and an M audio....Some said the Mbox 2 was great but i did not bother to checkk it...
I wasnt really happy with any of the above mentioned aside from the mini me from apogee - but the integration in Logic thru the funny core audio was not smooth - so I deceided to give the mbox 2 a shot - it blew me right away - the preamps are fabulous - i must say that i had not counted on the quality igot thru the mbox2 but now it's sitting here with me and a sure sm 58 is hooked into it and it sounds amazing - it powers right off of your Powerbook with usb one - if u get make sure u use the left side of the powerbook to power the mbox2....
It has 2 analog ins (mixpre or line) phantom power and 2 SPDIF inputs which u can ride alongside the analog ins....
All for 444$ - protools 7.1 LE included...
This would be my recommendation - bar none

  • IMac battery power?

Hello. I wish to purchase an iMac 21". i live in an area with frequent power cuts and the power can be off for up to 4 hours.  Can the iMac operate on battery?  Does it have a battery?  If so, how long does it function on battery power?

It does not have a battery. You need a massive Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS.) I recommend visiting APC.

  • Newest Macbook pro blacks out when the battery is near full and plugged in. Anyone else have this issue?

So for about 3 weeks, I have been forcing my macbook to close because whenever I wake it from sleeping to use it, I try to put in my password but it blacks out. I finally figured out that this only happens when its plugged in and near full battery life. Does anyone else have an issue similar to this?

  • TS1388 My battery on my macbook pro all of a sudden keeps using the battery power really quickly, so I am having to rechareg it constantly.  Does anyone know why this occurs or how to fix it.  I have used all the energy saving tips.

Hi My battery on my macbook pro keeps running low on power very quickly and I have to keep recharging it.  This has never happened before. I have used all the power saver options, but it keeps happening.  Can anyone help. The battery seems to be losing power even when it is turned off.

    Hi BigThinker,
How old is your Mac? If it is an older one, then the battery may just be dying. You can check by clicking on the Apple in the upper left-hand corner, then clicking on About This Mac>More Info>System Report, then click on Power (about half way down the list). At the top of the resulting display, you should see the following type of info:
The Health Information will tell you if your battery is going to need replacement soon. If it says Normal, then it is not the battery.
    Cheers,
    GB

  • My MacBook Pro just shut down without notice. It had about 40% of the battery life. It will not turn back on and I noticed when plugged in the little light on the power cord is blinking orange, not a solid green like normal.  Anyone have this issue before

MacBook Pro just shut down without notice. It had about 40% of the battery life. It will not turn back on and I noticed when plugged in the little light on the power cord is blinking orange, not a solid green like normal.  Anyone have this issue before?  I've only had this for about 3mos.  I called apple support. They tried one thing then said I have to take to the apple store. Unfortunately I don't have one nearby. So before I travel an hour+ away I thought is give it a shot on here. Thank.

    Hi S,
Did they have you try an SMC Reset: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964?

  • Issue with computer crashing and saying i have no battery power!

I have been having an issue when the power cord is not connected and my macbook pro w/ retina has been powering off and when i press the power button it says that i have no battery. When i plug the computer in it will turn on fine, then the battery says that there is battery power still. I think it may be a graphics card issue but I'm not sure. THIS HAS ONLY BEEN GOING ON SINCE I HAVE UPDATED TO YOSEMITE! Why is this issue happening and what can i do to fix it??

    Hi tyler260,
I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with the Yosemite update. If you are having unusual power or battery issues on your MacBook Pro since the install, you may want to try resetting the System Management Controller (SMC), as outlined in the following article:

If you are still having issues after the SMC reset, you may also find this article helpful:

After updating my I phone to io7 my phones battery power instantly halfed I have switched off all back ups etc etc and reset my entire phone but no difference any iseas

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then was new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
