Is BIS necessary for using Browser?

Is a BIS susbscription necessary to use the built in browser?
Am located in Dubai and looking to buy a Torch or Bold from a retailer for use with a prepaid plan.
Thanks

Hi andy06,
You should be able to browse over WAP/WiFi without a BlackBerry Data plan though you may want to speak to your wireless provider for confirmation for your location. This article should help outline how the Browser should function on a BlackBerry Torch or any BlackBerry 6 device:

  • Configurations necessary for using EDI.

    Dear All,
Kindly Give some light on configurations necessary for using EDI. I mean What is the use of EDI, How to use, what are the steps involve in that...
    Regards
    San Rao.

    Dear San,
EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) – The transmitting of documents from one computer application to another computer application using a standardized format.
    Why implement EDI?
Improves data accuracy: You can eliminate the need to re-enter data from paper documents and thus prevent potential data entry errors. It is estimated to be one-tenth the cost of handling its paper equivalent.
Reduces technical complexity: With EDI, companies use standardized data formats to exchange documents. EDI allows companies using different systems to achieve computer-to-computer electronic exchange of business documents.
Lowers personnel needs: EDI can help companies reduce the need for personnel involved in paper business transaction processing.
Accelerates information exchange: The lead time between start and completion of order processing is greatly reduced. By timeous scheduling companies can plan production more accurately and thus reduce stock inventories.
EDI technologies have evolved as a data carrier replacing the paper document. It is not a new concept or a new practice. EDI has existed for more than 2 decades in Europe and North America.
Early electronic interchanges used proprietary formats agreed upon between two trading partners requiring new programs each time a new partner was added to the existing system. Lateron some industry groups began a cooperative effort to develop industry EDI standards for purchasing, transportation, and financial applications. Many of these standards supported only intra-industry trading, which led to a large number of EDI formats.
In 1979, the Accredited Standards Committee (ASC) X12 was formed to develop a generic EDI standard. In 1993, Version 3, Release 4 contained 192 standards. There are over 100 additional standards in development. In the U.S., the most commonly used standard is ANSI X12, coordinated by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). While in Europe, it is the Electronic Data Interchange for Administration, Commerce, and Transportation (EDIFACT) standard. SAP maps it message types by EDIFACT naming conventions
    Hope this helps you.
Do award points if you found them useful.

  • Exporting the Browse Sequence XML file for Use in Another Project

When I generate a browse sequence based on the TOC using zero for the book level, instead of getting A, A1, A2, B, B1, B2, I get A, B, A1, A2, B1, B2.  The TOC runs through all 1st level items first, cycles back through all 2nd level item, then 3rd level, etc.
My workaround was to auto-create the browse sequence at a 0 level and then manually manipulate it to output according to how my readers would actually read my online book (ie A Aa A1 A1a A1b A2 A2a A2b B B1 etc etc).
Now that I have my browse sequence in the correct order for this project, I do not want to repeat these steps every time I create a new version of my OLH for the same guide after some minor updates have been made to the FM source.
There is a file named whbrs.xml inside the output folder and it contains the browse sequence order I specified during my workaround steps.
Is it possible to export this file to another location for use in another project referencing the same guide?
This methodology is much preferred as I am working at an enterprise level with multiple documents (some numbering in the hundreds of pages) and do not want to have to manually use my workaround for each project I update over the next few years.

    Hi Kristopher
You probably wouldn't want to use that particular file as it's an output file. You would likely have better luck using the ProjectName.BRS file as that one should be a source file.
However, keep in mind that whether (or how well) this will work will entirely depend on having the recipient project using the same identical structure and identical file names.
    Cheers... Rick

How to make a photo STAY in the assets panel for future use for In browser editing?
When I delete a photo from a page, it does not stay in the assets panel. My client uses in browser editing daily. Once a week he changes a photo just for a day, then needs the previous photo to replace it. The original photo is not in the asset panel (or folder) for him to choose.
When you upload a photo, it has an arrow in the asset panel. How do you use this as an asset?

Sure ... right mouse click on  your page and choose 'Exclude Page from Menus' :-)

Pop Up blocker exceptions are not saved in the browser for use, the next time the PC reboots. How do you save these exceptions for long term use?

In case you are using "Clear history when Firefox closes":
*do not clear the Site Preferences
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history": [X] "Clear history when Firefox closes" > Settings
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/remove-browsing-search-and-download-history
Note that clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, passwords, and other website specific data.
If you have software like Advanced SystemCare (Surfing Protection feature) that might reset some files to older versions to protect these files against changes then check the settings or uninstall this software.

  • Cannot import DCs, necessary for Web Dynpro use in CAF GP

    Hello!
I'm a newbie in SAP technologies. I want to develop a Web Dynpro (WD) application, which will be used as UI in CAF GP. The problem is that I cannot import necessary DCs for this!
As I understand, the following ones are necessary to develop a WD app for use in GP:
    caf/eu/gp/api
    caf/eu/gp/api/wd
    com.sap.security.api.sda
    (according to http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/b2/06ae42848bb211e10000000a155106/content.htm)
I acted as it is described in "Implementing a Web Dynpro CO which Implements the GP Interface" (https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/50d74ada-0c01-0010-07a8-8c118d408e59).
Actually, those DCs don't exist in my local configuration - so, as it is told in "Implementing a Web Dynpro CO which Implements the GP Interface", I tried to get the DCs from remote host (there's a server in Intranet with all stuff installed). In NetWeaver Dev Studio, in "Preferences -> Development Configuration Pool" I have written http://<local server>:50100. Actually, I don't know, what port should be used - I've written the one, which handles requests to SAP NetWeaver Portal. The response to "ping" button click is "HTTP response code: 403 (Forbidden)".
I tried to check the status of SLD, and went to http://<local server>:50100/sld. I have successfully logged in, but when I try to go to tab "Administration", I receive the message " 403 Forbidden. You are not authorized to view the requested resource."
Is there a problem with my roles & groups? Actually, I'm in group SAP_SLD_ADMINISTRATOR.
    What is wrong?
How can I get the detailed information about the error (log files or something)?
    Thanks in advance!

Barry, as I understand, I have no these roles, available for granting. Maybe, I've acted in a wrong way (the version of SAP NetWeaver is "Release 2004s".):
I logged in NetWeaver portal as administrator, went to section "User administration", selected my user, opened the tab "Assigned Groups" and searched for the groups you've written - I found no one

I am about to buy my first ipad but don't know which one to choose and all the information baffles me!!  I will use it for email, browsing, watching films, general things like that.  Please help?

I'm sure others will disagree, but I'm all about saving $.  I would start by looking online at the Apple store for refurbished devices.  I would also get MORE memory than yout think you will ever need.  The    stuff we have seems always to expand to fill the space available.  I wouldn't get one with cellular capability unless you really, really need it...

  • Is it necessary to use a case for iPhone 5? The back of iPhone 5 isn't scratch resistant?

I own a white iPhone 5 and just worried about the looks and the beauty of the phone. I just don't want to lose it. Is it necessary to use a case to protect the back of the iPhone? ( Actually I hate using cases personally, but if I need to use for retaining the beauty, I will use one.)

    To pichasagar,
Check out Spigen.com they've got this line of really thin case.
    http://www.spigen.com/brands/apple/iphone/iphone-5s/iphone-5-5s-case-ultra-thin- air-a.html
Or put a skin on it, transparent or not, from Spigen or from http://www.skinit.com/
I have no affliation with either company.

  • Is it necessary to pay a certain amount for using iphone?

hi, i am interested to buy a iphone but is it necessary to pay a certain amount every month for using iphone?

Welcome to the forums. It might help if we knew where you are as there are different rules for different countries, but almost all iPhones are linked to a specific carrier. If you are in the US for example, AT&T is the carrier and they have certain plans that have to be used. I am not sure if they do allow an unlocked iPhone, like they do here, but you are restricted by what the carrier(s) where you live will let you do.
In addition, if you do buy a legally unlocked iPhone from a carrier in another country, only that carrier will be able to carry out warranty and repair work.

When I use 32 bit version of Mozilla I easily find plugins but for Nighty 64 bit I can not find some plugin for this browser what can i do
I don't want to return back to 32 bit I love Nighty 64 bit and I'm satisfied with performance
what can I do please advice ?

Many plugin vendors haven't updated their plugins to work with x64, or you have to download a special x64 version (Flash and Java for example). Which plugins is it that you are having problems with?

  • Firewall necessary for Point to Point internet connections?

Firewall necessary for Point to Point internet connections? We have multiple point to point t1 connections to our sites and was wondering if a firewall should be in place to filter traffic. We are also implenting a microwave t1 from a service provider and was wondering if firewalls would be needed for just this or the wired as well. According to the microwave company no firewalls are needed. Do i really want to leave security in the hands of the ISP?

    Matt,
If you are buying private line T1 service from a carrier that connects 2 of your sites you would not use a firewall. Your traffic is never mixed with any other traffic. If your data is very sensitive, or if you have to comply with Payment Card Industry standards then you might want to encrypt your data, but a firewall would still not be necessary.
If you have a T1 connecting you to the Internet for Web browsing etc then you very much do need a firewall.

I would appreciate it if someone could advise me as to the optimum resolution, dimensions and dpi for actual photographic slides that I am scanning for use in a Keynote Presentation, that will be projected in a large auditorium. I realize that most projectors in auditoriums that I will be using have 1024 x 1200 pixels, and possibly 1600 x 1200. There is no reference to this issue in the Keynote Tutorial supplied by Apple, and I have never found a definitive answer to this issue online (although there may be one).
Here’s my question: When scanning my photographic slides, what setting, from 72 dpi to 300 dpi, would result in the best image quality and use up the most efficient amount of space?
Here’s what two different photo slide scanning service suppliers have told me:
Supplier No. 1 tells me that they can scan slides to a size of 1544 x 1024 pixels, at 72 dpi, which will be 763 KB, and they refer to this as low resolution (a JPEG). However, I noticed when I looked at these scanned slides, the size of the slides varied, with a maximum of 1.8 MB. This supplier says that the dpi doesn’t matter when it comes to the quality of the final digital image, that it is the dimensions that matter.  They say that if they scanned a slide to a higher resolution (2048 x 3072), they would still scan it at 72 dpi.
Supplier No. 2: They tell me that in order to have a high quality image made from a photographic slide (starting with a 35 mm slide, in all cases), I need to have a “1280 pixel dimension slide, a JPEG, at 300 dpi, that is 8 MB per image.” However, this supplier also offers, on its list of services, a “Standard Resolution JPEG (4MB file/image – 3088 x 2048), as well as a “High Resolution JPEG (8 MB file/image – 3088x2048).
I will be presenting my Keynotes with my MacBook Pro, and will not have a chance to try out the presentations in advance, since the lecture location is far from my home, so that is not an option.
I do not want to use up more memory than necessary on my laptop.  I also want to have the best quality image.
One more question: When scanning images myself, on my own scanner, for my Keynote presentations, would I be better off scanning them as JPEGs or TIFFs? I have been told that a TIFF is better because it is less compressed.
Any enlightenment on this subject would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

When it comes to Keynote, I try and start with a presentation that's 1680 x 1050 preset or something in that range.  Most projectors that you'll get at a conference won't project much higher than that and if they run at a lower resolution, it's better to have the device downsize your Keynote.  Anything is better than having the projector try and upsize your presentation... you work hard to make it look good, and it's mangled by some tired Epson projector.
As far as slides go, scan them in at 150 dpi or better, and make them at least the dimensions of your presentation.  Keynote is really only wanting 72dpi, but I do them at 150, just in case I need to print out the presentation as a handout later, and having the pix at 150 dpi gives me a little help with their quality on a printer.
You'd probably have to drop in the 150 versions again if you output the Keynote to .pdf or Word or something, but at least you have the option.
And Gary's right (above) go ahead and scan them as TIFFs.  Sooner or later you'll want to do something else with these slides (like make something for an iPad or the like) and having them as TIFFs keeps your presentation looking good.
Finally, and this is a big one, get to the location for your presentation ahead of time if you can, and plug the laptop in and see what you get.  There's always connection problems. Don't let the AV bonehead tell you everything will work just fine ('... I don't have any adapters for a Mac...') .  See it for yourself... you're the one that's standing up there.  Unless it's your boss, then you better be really sure it works.
