Is bootcamp good for audio apps?

hi, ive tried vmware fusion and im getting unusable sound (distortion / crackling)
i want to use cubase, soundforge and wavelab on windows xp on my macbook.
all these apps say to use ASIO drivers/audio settings when possible, for best sound and low latency.
is anyone here using windows xp on mac for music production applications?
is it working out? good sound and low latency?...
m-audio interface = they told me they dont support bootcamp officially.
im gonna get an m-box2 soon, for pro tools, but hope to use that too on windows xp as regualr audio interface.
say if i install bootcamp and windows xp on my mac.
would i simply just install my soundcard drivers (m-audio) into windows xp?
(just like how i would install on a normal desktop PC?) or would i need some other kind of drivers for mac or ......
thanks in advance.

this forum is fun?
i guess so...in a kinda weird way.......
I'm a weird person
And browsing through here, finding and learning myself while at the same time trying to help others, yeah that's fun.
i just use this forum for serious stuff to learn....but use macrumors forum for fun stuff...as this forum tends to shut down my posts!
Yup, the TOU are sometimes strict here.
mac is a more pleasant experience, compared to PCs.
pc = pain = stress = troubleshooting = slow = crashing = freezing = weird things happening......... in my experience...with music applications.
im mac for life now.
Me too, having switched a little over 2 years ago, I'm an addict now.
NTFS v fat32....decisions decisions life is oh so hard. ...
FAT32 has a size limitation for single files of 4GB. Don't know if you are dealing with such file sizes.
Personally ever since Windows NT I have used NTFS as file system.
how do you put those emotion icons on? oh well
See here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emoticon
take care
You too and Have Fun (at least with your Mac).

  • Is 2012 mac mini good for audio production?

is 2012 mac mini good for audio production. Take in mind that I am a novice, but that really does not matter, I want to get the right product if that is an imac instead than so be it.

It depends on the sort of audio production you'll be doing. If you're going to be working with only stereo content or just a few tracks, in GarageBand for instance, a 2012 Mac mini would probably suffice, though you'll probably want to max out the RAM in the system. If you're going to be working with many tracks simultaneously with effects, EQ, etc on many, for instance with Logic Pro X with a number of plugins going, then a Mac mini probably won't do the job. In that case you'd probably want a top-end iMac or perhaps even a Mac Pro (the new model of which should be released sometime this month).
I'd suggest that you decide on the software you'll want to run, and then ask in forums related to that software what sort of system configuration users are finding to be adequate.
    Regards.

  • I am using the Good for Enterprise app to synch my outlook email and when I try to turn on ICloud to synch my music in ITunes I get a warning that I will not be able to synch my Iphone 4S with my computer.  Does this mean my office PC or home Mac?

I am using Good For Enterprise on my Iphone 4s to connect with my Office PC Outlook email system.  I am having trouble synching my Itunes music from my Mac at home with my IPhone 4s.  I am considering using ICloud to share the music as I also have an IPad2.  When I go to turn on the ICloud application, I get a message that alerts me to the fact I will no longer be able to synch with my computer.  Does that mean with my Office PC and my Outlook email, or my Mac and my home email and other applications?  I want to use the ICloud but don't want to screw up my Good for Enterprise application and connectivity with my Office PC and Outlook email.  What should I do to be able to update all my tunes and photos on my IPhone 4S and IPad2 from my Mac?

I seem to never tire of saying this. It was for Apple when they first announced 10.7 to disclose this. Yes, it was widely reported -- or rather, rumored -- but not by Apple. And many people who have gotten caught by this assumed that Apple itself would have told them beforehand about the loss of this very important feature which they had come to rely on. As far as I know, not even in fine print, does this appear anywhere on the Lion announcement or any of its links.
I am not saying Apple had to continue Rosetta in Lion, or forever, just that if it was going to be dropped, it should have been made known.
As relative "insiders" we should not forget that many people don't have the time, habit or interest to do this kind of research. I think it is a breach of trust that Apple has never directly made this announcement or given people the opportunity to decide beforehand if giving up their PPC apps for a new OS is a worthwhile tradeoff.

  • Mac Mini or iMac good for graphic apps?

I currently have an older G4, dual processor, 450 MHz, 768mb RAM running Tiger. I'm a graphic designer working mainly with Quark, Freehand, Photoshop. I'm not a heavy Photoshop user. I'm trying to decide if I should upgrade to a G5 tower, or if the new iMacs or Mac Mini would work for me. I've heard that the Mac Mini could be a step backwards for my type of use. Any informed opinions would greatly help. Obviously speed is not my number one concern, but I wouldn't want to be slower! I do have an external CD/DVD burner and I need to keep my external ZIP drive.
    Thanks,
    Kristi

The Mac Mini may not be good for your use (Intel Macs in gerneral) do not have a native version of Photoshop (PPC only app so it would run under PPC emulation), so unless you have 1+GB RAM it would run slow, not as slow as on your current machine though so you might not notice the way some others might. The Mac Mini (even the core solo 1.5Ghz) will be much faster than your current machine, any modern Mac would be.I would go for an iMac since it, IMO, is going to be a better buy, since it doesn't cost that much more, and is a top of the line consumer machine. If you don't do much Photoshoping the G5 Power Mac is overkill, IMO. You may even want to look at refurb G5 iMacs if you want to save a little money.

  • Is new 2014 mac mini good for audio production

I want to learn how to use logic pro/audio production software. Is the 2014 mac mini powerful enough to run logic pro/audio production software efficiently? any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    +1...
My 'problem' with the current range is that the memory is no longer upgradable.... (What you buy initially is what you get) and i7 Quad Cores are no longer available for the MMs.. just Dual Cores....
This is why earlier MM models via the Apple Refurb store, have been is such short supply because they sell out within an hour or so of becoming available!
You might find this site useful for tracking down Refurbs....
    https://www.refurb.me/us/
Note: Apple refurbs are excellent value for money as they come with the same warranties as new models... plus you can purchase the extended Applecare as you can for new models... but typically sell for 15-45% less. I haven't bought a non-refurbed Mac in several years now... and couldn't be happier with the quality and reliability of the refurbished ones.
Example: In 2012 I bought a 27" 2011 iMac 3.4Ghz 16GB AMD 2GB 1TB plus 3 years of Applecare for 40% less than the then current new cost.... Great deal indeed!

  • Which Processor Good for Oracle Apps 11i

    Hello Folks,
I am planning to buy dell laptop to install oracle Apps 11i,
The dell laptop come with the two processor.
    1.AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-core Processor
    2.Intel® CoreTM 2 Duo Processor
So pls advice me to choose the best one.
    Thanks, Raghu.K

The real bottleneck will be disk and memory. I liked the server Opteron processors but was never a fan of the mobile ones. I have always had fantastic performance running 11i and R12 on Centrino or Core 2 duo processors. Get a machine with the latest Santa Rosa chipset, and you can install 4 GB of RAM and have it visible to the OS (at least for Linux). I just recently configured a ThinkPad T61 with OpenSuse 10.3, 4 GB of Ram, 240 GB of disk that is running Apps 11.5.10.2 with 10.2.0.3 database and Apps R12 and Demantra Demand Planning 7.1.1 in an OAS 10.1.3 J2EE and Web Server concurrently. This is also running a KVM Windows virtual machine.

  • How Much space will I need for developing apps

I will be purchasing a MacBook Air most likely the $1109 with 64GB and 4GB RAM,  I was wondering is 64GB okay for developing apps and personal use.  I use about 18GB on my PC and I'm thinking I'll only need about 20GB MAX more, so 38GB used in total.  Is the remaining amount good for developing apps, excluding XCODE itself, just the coding/ files needed?
    THANKS

If you need to run XP then since BootCamp no longer supports it, your only choice would be on of the virtual software packages to run Windows.

  • Looking for a good music player app

    Hi.
I have a problem. i'm looking for a good music player app for my new iphone (which i will buy my next month) in terms of playing music. after having 3 phones in the last 9 months i'm still unhappy.
Had a Samsung Galaxy Ace. sound was above average but due to underpowered processor + RAM (and Samsung stating they won't update the software anymore) i had to sell it.
Than had a Sony Ericcson Xperia Neo but felt the sound was "flat" and bland" and left me disappointed and uninspired coming from a well-known phone maker know for its audio & visual expertise.
Now, i currently have the HTC Desire S. umm although the sound was "Ok" with its usual pre-set equalizers (common among Android phones) and SRS sound enhancement it felt me wanting more and although i have the phone for a week now i would say "so far-so good."
but i heard the best music phones out there are those with either Beats Audio (which are very brand new) or the ones with Dolby Mobile.
had an iPod touch (4th-gen) and i was amazed and impressed by the sound quality.
so, if i can get away with a good music player app that recreates surround sound, has good preset EQ's along with customisable ones and one with Dolby-like support which app would you recommend?
    Thank you.

Stock lock screen does not normally support 3rd party widgets so you wont find any third party players that allows you access while on lock screen..  As for the player I perfer Meridian Media Player Revolute from https://market.android.com/details?id=org.iii.romulus.meridian&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsIm9yZy5paWkucm9tdWx1cy5tZXJpZGlhbiJd

How are you trying to listen to it ? You shouldn't need to be online to listen to it, I don't for any of mine. If you've downloaded it directly on your iPad (or synced it from your computer) then it should be in the Music app (you will get an Audiobooks option under the More button in the Music app when you have audiobooks on it) - is that where you are trying to listen to it ?

In a roaming network, your "main" router is the device that would require port mapping/forwarding to be configured in order to access the IP camera from the Internet. This router is also the one that would be provide the private IP address for the camera which you will want to be a static one.
So as you described your network, the IP cameras should be getting an IP address or you assigned it a static one and this is the address that you would enter in the Private IP address (or equivalent depending on the router used) field when setting up port mapping.
If you are not able to access this camera from the local network, then this should be troubleshot first.
