Is Bridge CC the same as CS6?

Hi Guys
I'm trialling CC and installing CC files and see that Bridge is there. Is it the same version as CS6, which I'm currently running or is it a new version?
Regards,
Graham

Every new version of a Suite (or in this case CC) Bridge has also a new version that corresponds with the different suite apps using start up scripts etc.
Normally I would say that not much has changed because bridge has changed much since CS4 except different cache format and minor improvements.
However this time Adobe Management in all its wisdom has decided that Bridge needed support for HDPPI screen which is realized. This at the cost of the Adobe Output Module, the export panel and the synchronized windows option.
Maybe they where thinking as an artist, "Less is more" I really don't know. Fact is that there are several threads of angry people (me amongst them…).
So chose your pick :-0

  • Does the serial number stay the same for CS6 downloads on seperate computers?

I am going to download my CS6 onto a second computer (redeem by second download) and I was just curious if my serial number will be the same since its the same product or if I need to redeem another one. How do I go about doing that?

You can only redeem once to get your serial number.
That same serial number is good to license and activate the software for use on a maximum of two computers at the same time.

  • Photoshop CC Shape Layer Gradients Not the Same as CS6

I'm demo-ing Photoshop CC, and I came across an unexpected behavior when opening a CS6 PSD.
I have a shape layer that is composed of closed curves which use the path operation "Intersect Shape Areas." In CS6, I added a layer style with a tight gradient that is vertically positioned to show a certain part of the gradient, and the gradient seems to be confined to only the visible intersection of the paths.
In CC, however, the gradient seems to be applied to the entire region of the paths, and not just the intersection - as if there were no path operation performed. Here's an image to show what I mean:
The only way I could reproduce the desired effect in CC was to merge the shape components. But, I'd rather be able to keep the shapes editable at a boolean level.
Is there some setting that I'm missing?

I don't want to just start a new thread with the same topic so thought I would tag onto this one.
The behaviour described by K_SEREBY is something which I am also experiencing, and for me is a bit of a deal breaker. For files opened in CC which were created in an earlier version gradient fills/ styles on shape layers do not appear the same.
The only way to have them appear the same is to do as K_SEREBY says and "merge shape components", which is a completely destructive way of working.
It isn't something which is consistent either across Layer Styles, gradients behave as described, whereas inner glow, inner shadow and stroke for example all work as they did before, taking into account shape interaction.
Having said that using the stroke feature of vectors available on the top bar again works differently as shown in the below image. On the left the result of 3 interacting vector shapes with a vector stroke - no stroke visible. On the right the same shape with the same stroke effect but after merge shape components has been done - vector stroke visible.
It's all very confusing and not very pleasant to use, is there a work around? The video linked doesn't shed any light on the problem at hand, only highlighting something else which doesn't even show up for me when a shape is selected i.e. Live Vector Properties, but that is another story.

  • Airport Express - iTunes streaming and wireless bridge at the same time?

I know the Airport Express (AX) can do iTunes streaming. And I know it can act as a wireless bridge - meaning, a wired device can plug into the AX as if they were plugged directly into the local network.
What I am wondering - before I buy one - is whether the AX can do both at the same time. I have been reading around, and some people say it cannot, but I am getting the feeling that might be an older version perhaps.
Here is my set up -
    office:
cable modem > Airport Extreme 802.11n base station
    desktop computer
    family room:
DVD, TV, TiVo, etc. -- all would like a wired network connection
Stereo -- would like to stream iTunes from desktop computer
So can the AX stream iTunes to the stereo, AND serve up the network to the TiVo, etc. at the same time?
If so, I assume I can plug an Ethernet Switch into the AX and have it simultaneously service >1 device (e.g. TiVo, TV, etc.).
    Thanks a lot!

The newer 802.11n AirPort Express Base Station (AXn) can be setup in any of the following three configurations to enable its Ethernet port to provide network connectivity to wired clients:
    1) As a remote base station in a WDS with another 802.11b/g/n AirPort.
    2) As an extension to another 802.11n AirPort/Time Capsule.
    3) As a ProxySTA (Ethernet bridge) with any wireless router.
I have verified that it can support both performing as an Ethernet bridge and stream simultaneously for the first two configurations, but have not had an opportunity to try the last to verify that case as well ... but I believe it should.

  • Can a tethered phone also be bridged (to the same PB) ?

My friend has tethered her PB to her blackberry bold as she couldn't bridge successfully. Now she has her bridge and bbm s/w updated on her blackberry, but cannot bridge (and get her bbm across). I am wondering is this perhaps because she is already tethered. If so, how does one untether?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

delete the BT pairing in BT profile on both devices.
then it will no longer tether.
    Then set up Bridge.

  • Extending the Network kills speed performance, would bridging do the same?

I have a Time Capsule in my basement and upstairs I have a very hard time getting a good wireless signal.
I decided to buy an Airport Express to try and solve the problem. I tried to extend the network with the AX and now my computer upstairs can get a good wireless signal, however the performance has dropped significantly. When I run a speed test on both my upstairs computer and my laptop downstairs I now get about 1.5 Mbit down/1 MBit up which is much worse than what i used to get (10-14 MBit down/2 MBit up).
If I were to hook the AX up to an ethernet port in my house (should be activated in the next few days which is why I can't try it now) and have the AX set up to work in bridge mode, would this improve the performance? I thought I read somewhere that extending the network could hurt performance (which I'm certainly seeing), but I don't know if that would apply to bridge mode.
    Thanks for the help.

The way I understand it -
You're effectively doubling the network traffic - everything has to make 2 hops. The "extension" receives the data and has to re-transmit it to the main base station. Receiving, processing and re-transmitting takes time.
In reality, traffic can be much more than doubled. If the message from the computer is received by both the extension and the base station, and then again by the base station when the extension re-transmits it, the base station has to work out that it has received the data twice. This extra processing (ignoring duplicates) takes time.
With more data on the network, there's more chance of "collisions", so more re-transmits.
I think it's pretty amazing that it works at all!

  • I thought the bridge was the same as camera raw....

So camera raw window is not a part of the bridge? Thanks for the help.

    RainyNiznik wrote:
So camera raw window is not a part of the bridge?…
Not at all!  Bridge is just a file browser, it doesn't open, edit or in any way manipulate images or files of any kind.
All Bridge does is hand over the files to the appropriate application, whether that be Photoshop, Adobe Camera Raw, Illustrator, InDesign, MS Word or whatever.
Camera Raw is a Photoshop plug-in which can be hosted either by Photoshop or by Bridge.

  • Is cc photoshop the same as cs6 ps?

    ^^

    No
CS6 programs are 2+ years old and no longer receiving upgrades, but you may buy once as a perpetual license Creative Suite 6
CC (now CC 2014) programs are the current versions with new features, available for a monthly rental fee (stop paying, the programs stop working)

  • Auto-updates disabled in CS6 non-cloud the same way as in CS5/CC?

    Hi,
is this procedure to deactivate auto-updates http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/disable-auto-updates-application-manager.html  the same for CS6, non-cloud?
    thanks.

yes it is. (and adobe's policy is to ignore non-cloud questions because this is the cloud forum, but there is no non-cloud forum, and the single program forums won't answer that kind of thing either. I did pay for this application.)

  • 2 Playbooks tethered to the same SmartPhone

    Question:
Planning on getting a playbook for my wife and I but since we both have corp. phones that block tethering we are going to have to get a personal smartphone for tethering purpose.  For the most part WiFi is fine for me but I on occation I may want to leverage a 3g connection through the phone.  Is it an issue to have two playbooks bridged to the same phone or would we have to get two phones to accomodate.

Accoring to you tunnel need to be establish for different ports so i am assuming destination ip addresses will also be different ( means for ssh lets say 1.1.1.1 and https 2.2.2.2)
with refernce to above case create two interfaces and point a route for 1.1.1.1 toward first interface and for 2.2.2.2 toward second interface , now create two tunnel for same destination but different peer ip address of your end with the help of differnt crypto ACLs.

  • Cannot open CS6 Bridge.  Always the same ERROR: Bridge has a problem and cannot read the cache

Cannot open CS6 Bridge.  Always the same ERROR: Bridge has a problem and cannot read the cache

Try this.  This is for CS6 but substitue CC and Bridge 6.
~library/caches/Adobe/Bridge CS6 and inhere should be 2 files:
    Adobe Bridge Plug-in Cache
and the folder called Cache. Inhere should be 4 folders called '254', '1024', 'data' and 'full'
All those folders carry the content of the respective quality of the thumbs and preview as well as 100 % cache and Bridge database.
Any way, Since you have not used Bridge you have no relevant amount of cache and I would suggest you quit both PS and Bridge and manual delete both the items (plug in and folder called cache at the end of the Bridge CS6 path mentioned above.
(both files will refresh itself after a restart of Bridge).
To be on the save side also visit in same user library the folder Preferences and look for the file called "com.adobe.bridge5.plist" (yes it is Bridge 5 that comes with CS6, all Adobe apps have their own version number and they are presented in the same Suite version. CS6 has PS version 13 and Bridge version 5 )
also drag this file to the trash.
Then hold down option key (alt) while starting Bridge and this should give you the option to reset the preferences as mentioned earlier in this thread.
Choose reset prefs and try again.

  • Problems with running Photoshop CS6 and Bridge with Lightroom 4 also on the same PC

I was running Photoshop and Bridge, then purchased Lightroom 4. Before installingt 4 I had no problems with Bridge, but since installing 4 all of the photo's that were held in bridge are now gone, but they are in Lightroom. With Lightroom, you are able to edit photos out of Lightroom and into Photoshop when necessary, save and close and it automatically changed the Lightroom picture.
I have two PC's, one has Bridge on it (this one) and the other without, but both have both editing prgrams installed. On the other PC I can switch between Lightroom and Photoshop with no problems, but when I try to switch with this PC, the one with Bridge installed, it will open Photoshop, but the photo will not transfer. If I close Photoshop program and go back to Lightroom, it will tell me that the picture could not be transfered to Photoshop because it would not launch. If I close that message window, it will then launch Photoshop and the picture transferes over allowing me to edit and save as normal.
My question is; does anyone know if Lightroom and Bridge should run side by side, or should I delete Bridge from this PC and see what happens. Bridge is just a holder and organizer of photos, wherease Lightroom does the same, but also has post editing capabilities. The two programs seem redundant, but if your running Photoshop, it's hard to get files out of Lightroom. It seems that you need to open Lightroom first, then you can view and chose a photo to work on, then move it back and forth between the two programs. This seems to make Bridge redundant.
Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Hi, Yes, but that actually wasn't the problem. I start out in Lightroom,
then move to Photoshop if I have something that can't be fixed in
Lightroom. The problem was that when I tried to edit, out of Lightroom and
into Photoshop, I was getting an error message that Lightroom couldn't
prepare files for transfer because Photoshop wouldn't open. But, it had
opened, the picture just wouldn't transfer. If I closed Photoshop,
Lightroom would try again and it would open and transfer the second time. I
ended up going to the Adobe help, chat line, and they looked into my PC and
located the problem, it's now working fine. Thanks to everyone for your
    inputs. Most appreciated.

  • How I can make Bridge CS6 and Lightroom 4 share the same set of keywords in real time?

Can we point to the same file on the hard drive?
What is the current best workflow practice for keyword sync between the two apps?
    Thanks

FYI - Right ON to mention the preferences/catalog settings/"automatically write changes into xmp" (check this box if you are smart), this is serious mandatory knowledge and I got burned by it in the past and lost all edits on who knows how many files, I still have a mess in  folder from it.
To clarify for folks here: This feature (preferences/catalog settings/"automatically write changes into xmp") saves all of your camera raw edits into your file so that they do not get lost if your catalog or computer dies. This was intended to be used for DNG files and is a bit confusing as an xmp sidecar file implies that it is outside of a file ,yet with a DNG file it is unmentioned that the data gets safely stored inside the file for recalling CamRaw edits and metadata - this is the way I have always worked - .NEF Nikon converted to DNG upon import into LR
preferences/catalog settings/"automatically write changes into xmp" was turned off in LR2 and maybe 3 as it does slow your machine down while always saving every move you make but it is well worth it.
If you find that your preferences/catalog settings/"automatically write changes into xmp" feature has never been turned on and want to get properly set up here is one way to do it.
First , turn it on by checking the box : preferences/catalog settings/"automatically write changes into xmp"
Then select the top level of all photos I have a folder called Photography on my drive, you may have to do this to more than one folder ect.
Then make sure show subfolders is ON and LR is looking at all images down through all folders.
Get Ready... select all CTL Aor CMD A then hit save CTRL S or CMD S - then be ready to let the machine work for a couple of hours if you have a lot of images.
This just might save your hiney one day
Thanks to John for bringing this up.

  • Bridge shows always the same JPGs files crippled

    Hi together,
since yesterday Bridge shows *some* JPGs in a destroyed preview (or no preview).
Screenshot of the Bridge preview panel:
    The curiosity:
I have deleted all the Bridge Cache (manually in "users/library/caches/...."), also the exported cache files in the affected folders.
Then copied the affected files to another folder and renamed them all, hope that Bridge "forged" some preferences I might have not deleted.
I started Bridge new with Option-key and reseted all preferences and all "Caches".
Result: => No affect: The previews are generated new in the same wrong kind as before. For some JPEG-files there are no preview rendered.
Of course these files are all correct, I can open it in Photoshop or in Mac Preview – but in the Camera Raw Window the files are show destroyed.
It drives me crazy because all other folders are not affected – and also no RAW-files are affected, so the ACR seem correct working.
Searching in the web brought no results for me in this special case.
Perhaps anyone of you have a clue?
    Thanks in advance!
    Juergen

What you show is NOT the Bridge Preview Panel but the Bridge CONTENT panel.
I'm flying blind here because you have provided no details.
    BOILERPLATE TEXT:
Note that this is boilerplate text.
If you give complete and detailed information about your setup and the issue at hand,
such as your platform (Mac or Win),
exact versions of your OS, of Photoshop (not just "CS6", but something like CS6v.13.0.6) and of Bridge,
your settings in Photoshop > Preference > Performance
the type of file you were working on,
machine specs, such as total installed RAM, scratch file HDs, total available HD space, video card specs, including total VRAM installed,
what troubleshooting steps you have taken so far,
    what error message(s) you receive,
if having issues opening raw files also the exact camera make and model that generated them,
if you're having printing issues, indicate the exact make and model of your printer, paper size, image dimensions in pixels (so many pixels wide by so many pixels high). if going through a RIP, specify that too.
    etc.,
someone may be able to help you (not necessarily this poster, who is not a Windows user).
a screen shot of your settings or of the image could be very helpful too.

  • Bridge CS4 always opens in the same folder

Since I upgraded to Photoshop CS4, Bridge always opens in the same
folder. It used to open up whatever folder I was working on last.
There must be a setting somewhere to tell Bridge to open the last
visited folder but I can't seem to find it. Any ideas?

Thanks Curt. That helped. I do have Bridge set to automatically start with Windows. I thought that shutting down Windows would cause Bridge to remember the last visited folder since Bridge was closed but I need to right-click on the Bridge icon in the system tray and exit before shutting down Windows. At least now I know why this was happening!
