Is Bridge CS6 now 64 bit?
Bridge CS5 was 32 bit even if you had the 64 bit Photoshop. Last year persons unnamed said it was unlikely that Bridge would be converted to 64 bit. BUT -- --
I did not load the 32 bit version, and Bridge is loaded as 64 bit program.
So does this mean Bridge is a full 64 bit program now? And if you open ACR from Bridge it will open in 64 bit version?
Have not seen any press on other Bridge changes. Anyone have a link?
Thanks
Yes, Bridge has been converted to 64 bits, hence we are not seeing changes, the conversion was the main engineering effort.

Bridge CS6 64-bit and 32-bit FREEZE on Launch
Now I am having problems with Bridge CS6 again. Both 64-bit and 32-bit suddenly have the behavior of freezing on launch. I get the application window open but no icons populate and I can't do anything in the interface. Not even close the application. I have to use Windows Task Manager to quit the application forcibly.
Not sure what's going on. I went to the start menu and hit Ctrl+Bridge 64-bit to give me the options to reset preferences, dump the cache, and one other option that I also checkmarked. Still no dice.
Can anyone help me out before Adobe Customer Support becomes available in 4 hours? While searching for a set of files on my computer using traditional search in the gui i discovered that the indexing functionality of windows was turned off. I tried to turn it on and search again but kept getting the error that indexing was turned off. I went to the event viewer and saw hundreds of events related to this error. I thought by suspicion that there might be a correlation between this windows malfunction and adobe bridge not functioning properly. After finding an appropriate solution to reset the search functionality of Windows known as 1) Windows Search and also as 2) Indexing, I tried to run Bridge again and now it works just fine. So the solution to the Bridge problem was to fix Windows Search and also fix Indexing of files.

Bridge CS6 64-bit AND 32-bit crash!
I am not sure why this is but Bridge CS6 crashes in either 64-bit version or 32-bit version. I do not have the same problem with Bridge CS5.5 which I believe is 32-bit.
I can't fathom that a 64-bit app with as much memory (more than 8GB) on my machine and a pretty decent NVidia Quaddro card would cause such issues. I had installed the latest video drivers not that long ago (within the past 2-6 months) when I was experiencing a separate issue on a non-adobe software crash on startup. Changing or upgrading the video driver caused the software to become responsive again and this was with a 3D software application.
If 64-bit apps are supposed to see the maximum RAM why would my 32-bit CS5.5 not crash in the following scenario? :
A top-level or sub-top level directory which is displaying results from subfolders and when I navigate to a thumbnail CS6 crashes but CS5.5 does not.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I think I have at least 1GB VramCurt,
I didn't know exactly which portion of the Event Viewer app to look into so I checked this Windows Vista document which should be the same for Windows 7 which I'm on:
http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/identify-software-conflicts-system-log.html
I couldn't find an actual Adobe log since no error window came up when it crashed/crashes.
I tried running as administrator as the other person suggested but could not seem to solve the issue.
I still haven't updated my video driver to whatever might have come out last night but I will double check to see if I am running the latest one.
Thanks so far for your responses guys. -
Is it possible to install Bridge CS6 now I am on CC2014?
Hi there
Along with many people I miss the very useful thumbnail output feature from Bridge CS6 that allowed me to make a pdf showing thumbnails of all images EVEN INSIDE SUBFOLDERS from a given folder.
The function seems to be broken in CC2014.
This was one of the key tools and uses I had for Bridge, would love to get it back!
Apparently CS6 is the last version of Bridge to allow this, and I have a new machine with new CC2014 installed on it, how on earth can I add this older version of Bridge to my setup? It doesnt show up in the 'previous versions' filter in theCC installer...Matthew A you can install Bridge CS6 as part of Photoshop CS6, Illustrator CS6, or InDesign CS6. It was not available as a separate installation until Bridge CC. You can find details on how to install the previous version of these software titles at Install and update apps - https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/install-apps.html.
Please be aware that your file associations will likely become associated to whatever CS6 application you installed. If you wish to use CC 2014 you will want to adjust your file associations. -
One of my favorite things about CS6 is finally bridge works, Once it builds it cache it is much faster than brifge in CS5.
In case anyone has missed it (certainly not you guys) I am having to exit CS5 Bridge from the hidden icons in the Task bar in order to reliably load CS6 Bridge. It would have been handy to have PS CS5 & CS6 open at the same time for easy comparison, but I can’t make that happen in Windows 7.

Recurring problem with Bridge CS6 64-bit
This happens every time I close Bridge to optimize my resources when I'm working in After Effects. I close out of Bridge - work for a while in After Effects, then need to import a new graphic into the project. When I try to start Bridge, nothing happens. So...I go to the task manager (Win Vista Business 64-bit), and guess what's still running there? bridge.exe - so I close it down in the task manager, then it starts up just fine.
Joe Bourke
Bourke MediaNever done it myself, but isn't there a Mac-style never-close-Bridge thingamy in Preferences (minimise to tray, or Start Bridge at Logon)? I think, when it's ticked, Bridge never closes, it minimised instead.
In Bridge preferences is a setting you can check so that Bridge starts when your computer starts (in other words login to your user account)
When you check this setting in Bridge on a Mac it starts in the background when you start the computer (the application is running but hidden from the desktop)
Hence I always use the option via the system preferences itself because I don't want it to be hidden but immediately active when I start working
However Bridge has it's own mind (sadly enough not limited to this setting only) and every now and then decides to either start hiding itself or even deselect the auto start option totally. To my memory this problem is as old as it first appeared (in CS3?)
I have learned to live with this, although under protest...
Can't think of a reason this setting should not be able in Windows (for Mac it is in the advanced preferences tab 'start bridge at login')
And on a Mac we have three little button icons on a document or open window. A red one to close it, a yellow one to minimize it to the dock and a green one to fit the screen.
Neither of them quits the application itself
That aside I seem to remember other threads about same issue with closing windows and not quitting the application for Windows also. -

Browse in Adobe Bridge CS6 - default to 64-bit version
I have Adobe Bridge CS6 32-bit and 64-bit installed. I prefer to use the 64-bit version, but whenever I right-click a folder in Windows Explorer and choose 'Browse in Adobe Bridge CS6', the 32-bit version always opens. How can I make this default to the 64-bit version? There doesn't seem to be a way to uninstall the 32-bit version.
Edit your System Registry on:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\Bridge
Change the path that is pointing at 32bit version and set it to point at the location of 64bit version:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Bridge CS6 (64 Bit)\Bridge.exe "%L" -
Bridge CS6 crashes on startup after upgrade from CS5
Yesterday I upgraded to Photoshop CS6 using an install disk mailed from Adobe. Photoshop CS6 itself appears to be working fine, but both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Bridge CS6 crash on startup with the standard Windows popup ("Adobe Bridge CS6 has stopped working. Windows is searching for a solution..."). Bridge CS5 still works great, as it did before the CS6 installation.
The Windows Event Viewer shows the following message for the crash of the 64-bit version:

I've rebooted multiple times and tried reinstalling from the upgrade disk, but the problem persists.
The installation is on a machine dedicated to Photoshop whose system info is included below. I'm running a multi-disk setup with 1 SSD as my C drive, another SSD for Temp and Scratch (in different partitions on the same SSD), and a RAID 5 array of hard drives for the actual image files. To my knowledge I'm running with the latest drivers of everything.
I'm not sure how to move forward at this point. Any information or assistance would be most appreciated.

That really wouldn't make sense now would it? That library is critical to many windows function and if it were virus infected, I would have more things to worry about that trying to get Bridge to launch.
I already did my homework on that before I posted here and tried some of the things suggested on verifying the integrity of my system files. The Digital Signature Information shows to be okay.
It could be that I upgraded this system from Windows XP Professional to Windows Vista Business and that I have an old (CS2) install that I did not remove from the computer. I have done a variety of things to try and get to the root, but to no avail. I am sure that if I were willing to start completely from scratch and do a clean install of the OS, I may be able to get it to work. I don't really have time to do that however, and since I am not the only person who has had the issue with Bridge failing to start, I suspect the solution lies somewhere within the architecture of Bridge in CS6 that is at the root of my problem.
I am hoping that someone from Adobe will finally figure it out and provide an update that works. -
Changes to using graphic settings in Bridge CS6 scripts
The "CS6 Tools Guide" document shows no changes in how graphical settings should be used for Foreground Colour, Background Colour, Fonts and Font Size, as well as the use of Images in panels. All these work as before with scripts used in Photoshop CS6. But with Bridge CS6 the use of an image will crash Bridge, whereas the settings for Colours and Fonts are just ignored. Does Bridge CS6 now have customised settings for graphical changes to panels? Or is this a bug?
I'd much rather have 32 bits that do what they ought to… sounds like CS6 has 48 that don't…

Adobe Bridge CS6 Crashes.
I am having a problem with Adobe Bridge in CS6. After running it for a while it mysteriously crashes. Here is a dump of the error report. I never had this in CS5. I am running Windows 7 64bit. This can occur whether or not I am running any other applications at the same time.
How can I fix this? Can I remove and re-install just Bridge?

Bridge CS6 keeps on crashing on opening. It says "Building criteria" then shows me the rainbow disk, forever and ever until I have to force quit.
I have deleted the cache folder in the User/library/adobe/Bridge/Caches and also the files ending in .plist in Preferences. I have opened it again while holding the option key, and reset all of the settings, several times, but nothing changes. I have lost my original dmg file and so I cant reinstall. I'm on Maverick and it has worked fine for 10 months before this started happening. I don't use it for anything other than looking through my files/photos and loading several into one document in photoshop.
What else can I do? THanks! My OS is in finnish, but I think this is what I'm looking for:

Maybe this problem has something to do with SSD and temp not on default location. -
Bridge CS6 crashes when I apply metadata
Similar problem to this: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5025995
The problem started suddenly last week. If I try to apply metadata or keywords to an image, Bridge closes. Sometimes I can apply one or two keywords before this happens, but not many and it always closes after applying more than a few keywords. Before this started, I had no problems with Bridge CS6.
Have tried updating graphics card drivers, resetting preferences, rebooting, changing the locatioon of the photos, with no luck.

Bridge CS6 crashes when adding tags or ratings
Bridge CS6 crashes when adding tags or ratings. Someone suggested upgrading video driver. It resolved the problem for a short time and then started crashing again when adding tags or ratings. Sometimes it works fine but lately it crashes almost every time I tag or rate one image. I have upgraded my video driver and reset cache and reset preferences.
Never had a crash with Photoshop CS6 or RAW ...only with Bridge when Tagging or Rating

Thanks for your help PaulCurt Y ....saw your response to another person with the same problem.....video, printer, or scanner drivers could be the problem???? Really? My computer never crashes until I installed Bridge.

Please help.Duplicate posts usually dilute the impact, as the history of the problem is gone as well as potential solutions offered. It has been my observation with difficult problems that a solution offered works for some and not for others.
In addition when soutions are found not all duplicate posts would see the answer.
Best to comment on the original post and that will bring it back to the top of the list.
