Is Bridge still part of PSE 9 for Macs ?

I love Bridge - and I miss it in the PC version of PSE 8.  Funny that the PC version of PS CS5 has Bridge.
Now I see that Organizer is included in the Mac version of PSE 9 --- does that mean that Bridge is gone ????  Hope not !!!!
Dick

I am soooooo sorry to learn that Bridge is gone from the Mac version of PSE 9.  I love Bridge - and I hate Organizer.
I probably will keep my classroom computers at PSE 8 - and have to give up getting content-aware fill on those machines.  Too bad !
Sometimes Adobe can be really dumb !  Bridge is a major part of PS CS4 and CS5 for me on my studio Mac Pros  ..... and I liked having it on the PSE 8 in my classroom.

  • Migrating from PSE for Windows 6 to PSE for Mac 6 including metadata

Can't find anything in the knowledge base on this.
I am giving up on Windows. Its just too messy and ugly. One of the final changes will be migrating from MS Windows Vista and PSE 6 to a brand new Mac, using LEopard 10.5.2 and PSE for Mac 6.
I want to migrate my images from the Windows machine, as well as the metadata organizing information. Surely I am not the only one with this need. I know I can save the mages in a mutually readable file format, export, and have them on the Mac, but I have a great deal of metatdata and image organization in the Windows version of PSE 6.
Please tell me how to migrate the entirety of PSE for Windows to my new Mac.
    Thanks.....

Some related questions-- can Bridge CS3 search sub-folders? Could I filter for a Keyword at the top of a tree, and locate all files with that keyword in sub-folders?
While exporting files from PSA2 on a PC I am using Share / Email to attach my existing keywords. Can they be drag-and-drop added to a Hierarchy in the Keywords panel? (Either from the Filter panel where they are automatically listed and counted, or from the "Other" location in the Keywords panel where they appear italicized?)
I had deluded myself into believing that PSE6 for the Mac included Organizer. Would Lightroom be a logical option for organizing? Particularly if I want to catalog many images on CD without storing them on disk? Can it be purchased separately? What other options would you recommend?

  • Pse for mac

I have just downloaded the trial version of pse for mac. I have previously used - very successfully - both photoshop elements and premiere elements on my sony vaio. My question is - will I be able to make slideshows in the same way as I did on the Vaio on my mac and will I be able to burn them onto disc? The trial version doesn't appear to allow me to burn to disc only to produce a pdf file. Will this look the same or not? My previous slideshows done on the vaio were great and I just want to know if I will be able to do exactly the same thing on the mac before I go ahead and buy the latest version when it comes out in a few days time. Can someone please help?

Well, “Final Cut Express” can do “individual” slide-shows pretty well...

  • Interactive Layout mode no longer available in Photomerge Panorama in PSE for Mac - any workarounds?

Hello,  after having purchased a download of Elements 12 for Mac, I found out that the Interactive Layout mode in Photomerge Panorama was no longer available (it was available in earlier versions, such as Elements 11). Is Adobe able to exchange my version 12 for version 11, or is there some other way I can gain access to Interactive Layout mode? I have found that the Auto layout mode often results in a message that it cannot align the images to create a panorama. Thank you.

In photoshop cs6 give this a try:
    1. Go to File>Scripts>Load Files into Stack, browse and load the pictures for the pano with the Attempt to Align and Create Smart Object unchecked
    2. Increase the canvas size of the document with the Crop Tool holding down the Alt key and dragging
one of the crop corners out until you think the canvas is big enough to arrange your documents for the pano.
    3. Align the layers manually in the document window with the Move Tool as good as you can.
(you can lower the layer opacxity so you can see the alignment better, but don't forget to put all the layers back to 100% opacity)
    4. Select all the layers in the layers panel
        (Select>All Layers)
    5. Go to Edit>Auto-Blend Layers and use Blend Method>Panorama and Seamless Tones and Colors
    6. After the blending it's possible you might see some whats looks like seams, so press Shift+Alt+Ctrl+E to make a merged copy on a new layer and hopefully that'll
        get rid of the seams.
I'll make another post with directions for putting the plugin into photoshop cs6, since you probably don't want to install pse 11 just to get a plugin when
photoshop cs6 is so much more capable than elements, for panoramas anyway.

  • PSE for MAC and iPhoto - where to put files

I am new to PSE4 and Bridge. I have used iPhoto for about a year, and have thousands of pictures in the iPhoto Library. I want to use Bridge and Elements to tweak my photos from now on. But, I want to use iPhoto5 for some things, such as emailing photos, creating web pages for .mac, creating slideshows on DVD for TV use, etc.
My question is this: does anyone else use both? What is your method/workflow for bringing files (RAW for me) from the camera to the computer - iPhoto or Bridge?
Right now, iPhoto opens every time I plug my Nikon in, I close iPhoto, then open Bridge.
One of my worries is that if I open and save with Bridge, I have to import the photos into iPhoto to create anything there. I believe this will cause me to have doubles of every file I use in both programs. Since I am pushing 2000 for total photos, I would be using a lot of HD space.
Thanks for any advice you can offer.

You can change your preferences for what happens when you connect your camera (card reader) to your Mac within Image Capture Preferences. If you set it for Image Capture you can then direct your images to a folder of your choice wherever you want it to be.
When you want to import specific images to iPhoto you can import them from the folders under File>Add to Library. In addition, if you have the iPhoto application open when you have your card reader connected for downloading to your folders, you can also copy them to iPhoto if you want as well.
BTW, 2000 photos is not considered a lot for the digital world. That's a day's shooting for some! You might want to consider an external hardrive for storing some of your images so you don't feel so constrained for space on your computer. It's a good idea in general for backing up file anyway.

  • Dumping a windows pc that still has good hardware for mac....

    Hello All!
I am and have only ever been on a windows (and dos) based pc and with the switch to intel cpu's I have become extremely interested in making the switch from windows. More really from seeing how fun/cool/stable the Mac OS seems to be and the growing frustration I have been having with windows (virus, spyware, crashes, hardware issues).
I have a pc that I built 3 years ago. With the exception of the video card (and i can upgrade it), it is still a great computer and would easily last me another 2+ years.
My question is this. Would you dump a windows based pc that is still considered "current" just to move over to OsX? Has anyone done this? If so what are your thoughts?
I have no real requirements to do gaming at this point, or pro apps, and by and large what I am doing on my windows pc looks to be available with new iMac. And anything that is not, I would not miss.
My obsession with this probably dictates I should just do it (and I know my wife would be happy to talk about something else). However, I'm trying to be practical about it all as I could live with whatever heartache comes my way by sticking with windows until it is absolutely necessary from an aging hardware perspective to get a new PC.
    Regards,
    Leonard
      Windows XP

About a month ago, I was in the same boat as you. I have been building my own PC's for years. Before I bought my iMac on Jan. 20th , I was running an Athlon64 3200, eVGA 660GT, 2MB of high end RAM, dual DVD burners, 500MB RAID 0+1 and some premium sound. I mainly used my PC for music editing, WoW, web development and some graphics design and of course modding! My computer has looked and acted like a MAC for the last two years through the use of programs like WindowsBlinds and StyleXP. But what a pain! Along with the usual Windows issues, everytime I re-installed the OS (about every 6 months due to installing/re-installing a lot of apps for development) I had to go through the process of setting EVERYTHING up again. This took me up to 3 days sometimes to get it all working.
So why did I switch? PRODUCTIVITY. In just a short month, and without ever having actually tried OS X, I feel like I get tons of more work done when I sit down at the keyboard. Installing programs is a breeze, file management is godly and even under Rosetta all of the "pro" apps I used on the PC are amazing. I still use the PC for web site checking and programming in .NET, so I know I will never be able to get rid of it.
Oh yeah...there is nothing like streaming songs in iTunes from the 2nd floor of our loft to the stereo downstairs while I'm working. Flawless.
Don't be worried, I am confident that OS X and the Macs themselves offer enough so that anyone who is remotely fed up with Windows will find something that suits them.

  • Split screen on PSE for Mac

How do I make my two files/tabs go to split screen so I can drag and drop from one to the other? I could do this easily on PSE with my PC but now that I've switched to Mac I'm starting over.

I'm using PSE 12 for Mac.
I figured it out. They just added a bunch of extra clicks for each move and put extra fanfare around the edges to make it harder to work with.
First, to drag and drop - you can no longer drag and drop an image you have to drag and drop the layer.
To move or resize the image you have to go and click on resize the shape and then do the work. very tedious and cumbersome and makes me want to go back to the older (and pc version).
The reason I thought this had customer support was because sily Adobe said that. I even went back to check. I clicked on Chat with Support and was directed here. The first time I cicked out of this and returned to where I started, believing I had made a mistake. I clicked on Chat Live or something like that and that time was directed to a live chat window that encouraged me to use this forum to get answers to my questions. The message said that support people were online now. That's not explicit but it sure implies that there would be someone who "knows" online.
I've now found my answers through other questions, other answers and great responses. So, I'm perfectly happy with this forum. I'm just frustrated learning a new product with so many differences and what seems like to help/support from the designers.
    Thank you both!

  • How can I buy a Dutch version of PSE for Mac?

At the website of Adobe all pushes are towards cloud memberships and the English version of PSE 12.
The salesman told me he can't sell a Dutch version for MAC anymore (only the English PSE 12).
If I press the Buy button of my Dutch trial of PSE 10, I come in the same circuit without any possibility to buy a Dutch version.
Since I have given courses (in Dutch) for more than 10 years in Photoshop Elements en Photoshop Lightroom, it seems te become impossible for PSE.
Who has a solution for this problem?

It looks like it’s available within the Netherlands; so perhaps the problem is related to your location, or an upgrade is unavailable. This could be because PSE12 is approaching the date when a new release is due; normally in September/October. It may be worth waiting for PSE13 and then contacting sales again as support for PSE12 will soon be dropped after the new release.

  • Help with trial version of PSE for Mac?

I searched for this and couldn't find it, so I apologize if it's already been answered.
I downloaded the Trial version of PSE8 for Mac (Leopard is my operating system) and nothing happens and it's not in my Applications folder. Anyone know how to crank this baby up?

    Yes to Intel.
Found the disk image under the Download folder. Tried double clicking
on the download in the folder, but that didn't work.

  • Problems with PSE for Mac Trial - Downloaded it and cannot find it

I am fairly computer savvy, but new to Mac.  I had PSCS2 on my old PC and with the conversion to Mac I was going to go for PSE8 (since a lot of the things I use PS for weren't available in PSE when I bought CS2, but are now available with PSE8).  I downloaded the free trial (bc I wanted to compare it to CS), but cannot figure out how to launch it.
I know.  I"m an idiot.  Can anyone help?

Sorry, but I'm confused by the discrepancy between your thread title and the body of your post. Do you mean you don't know where the download went? It should have gone into your downloads folder, which is usually able to be accessed as a stack in the dock if you haven't removed it from there. If you have, open a finder window and click on your username>downloads.

  • Missing Toolbar at the top of PSE for Mac?

I recently installed PSE on my Mac and I do not have the tool bar with the "File, Enhance, ect" options. How do I view this toolbar? I had it on my last PC that ran Windows. Is the top toolbar exclusive to PC? Thanks for your help!

On a mac those commands are at the very top of your screen, to the right of the black apple, not in the PSE window itself.  Look up.

  • Bridge CS4's Output update (for Mac) - 'can't install/quit' message.  Can anyone help?

I am trying to download Bridge CS4's Output update, but get a 'can't install/quit' message when I open the dmg file.  I have checked system requirements, space etc and everything should be OK.  I have been using Bridge CS4 for some years, and for some reason didn't know about the Output add-on.
    I have a late 2012 iMac, Processor  2.7 GHz Intel Core i5.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks for responding.  I have another similar question out, (by mistake I posted it twice).  I have some options on that so won't take your time.  Again, thanks.

  • Where is the 'Watch Folders' option in PSE 9 Organizer for Mac?

I'm sure it's right in front of my face, but I can't find it. Thanks!

Thanks everyone for your replies. Bob, thanks to you especially for your candor. I use Adobe products for both photography and graphic design. I have been a loyal PSE user since PSE 4, but I use Photoshop (started out with CS2, now up to CS5) for all of my editing. I only use PSE for my digital asset management. The reason I need watched folders is that any new files I create in CS5 are not automatically added to my catalog in PSE. I switched to a Mac 3 years ago and wasn't happy with any of the alternatives, so I have been using PSE for Mac since version 9. However, over the years, I have found that I don't always remember to go back into the PSE catalog to import after working on something in CS5, so my catalog is always missing some files. I have found a watched folder plugin for Lightroom that seems to work pretty seamlessly in the background, but I found Lightroom not nearly as intuitive to use when I bought LR2 a few years back. Plus, facial recognition is a big feature for me, and LR4 still lacks that. I guess that, for Mac users, there's really no one solution that works as well as PSE does for Windows users.
I guess I'll have to continue my search...Thanks again for your replies!

  • Organizer? PSE 8 for Mac

Just installed PSE for Mac, opened the first tutorial, and they refer to the "Home" icon for organized photos.
Altho they say it is for v.8, it is really v.7.  I cannot find any method of organizing photos, nor retrieving and storing them.
The help area is no help, and the "Missing Manual" doesn't come out for 3 weeks.
    Thanks for your help.

No Organizer in the Mac version. You have to use Bridge as an organizer.
