Is business plan required to use Exchange ActiveSync

I have had people tell me yes and some tell me no. My plan has it (I was told it was required) but a collegue here at work has a 1G phone and 2.0 and no business plan and it seemed to connect fine to the Exchange server.
Can someone please clearly delineate for me what I get with the business plan that I wouldnt without it.

I have a 3G with the regular $70 plan ($40 for 450m voice and $30 for Unlimited Data) and a $5 text plan, so basically the same as the old $60 plan. I also have an exchange account that is ActiveSync capable. I am running push Mail, Contacts and Calendar just fine. So I would have to say, no you do not need a business plan.

I'm looking at purchasing my first iPad and am getting conflicting information.  Is a data plan required to use an iPad 2?

Only for the models that have cellular (3g/LTE), and even then only if you choose to use a service. All iPads come with built in WiFi that you can use with a home router or via WiFi hot spots.

  • I am trying to find a business plan template for use in pages and numbers

    Hi,
I am trying to find a template for a business plan for a start up company to allow me to submit and idea and costings to get financial investment.
There are lots available on the net but they are mostly written for WORD.

    Glad someone does Peggy.
The notification system seems to be quite sporadic.
I go to get links for FAQs and occassionally spot the odd irrelevant comment and spam, but really unless it is totally off the wall I leave them be. At least for a month or two, then clean them off just so it doesn't bury the valuable stuff.
Been thinking about reconstructing the entire thing using WordPress so I can get better control over the layout and sort them imto more logical groups. I have trouble locating stuff I know is there and I pity the newcomer who doesn't even know it exists.

  • 2-way relationship when using exchange activesync?

We are setting MS Exchange Activesync to push out email, contacts, calendar to our "pilot" iPhone. My question is, is this a two way relationship? Meaning if we delete an message in Outlook will it be deleted from the iPhone. Conversely, if we delete a message from the iPhone will it be deleted from Outlook?
    Thanks for you help.

The difference between the Blackberry Software is that you have the option to allow your PDA not to delete your emails off your desktop or to. I was told by our IT department that Activesync does not provide this option. Which is stupid because they should provide you that option.

  • Sending email using Exchange ActiveSync

I had no problems setting up my first generation iPhone to connect to my employer's Exchange server using activesync. Autodiscovery worked fine, and email is pushed to me over a wifi connection (I am currently on vacation in a hotel in Mexico, so have only wifi, not cellular access).
However, I cannot send email; as soon as I try I get 'Cannot Send Mail. An error occurred while delivering this message'. The message just sits in the outbox on my phone. It does not appear anywhere - the outbox, or anywhere else - on my desktop (mail.app via IMAP) view of the server.
    Anyone have any ideas?

Never mind... it turns out that policies on the Exchange server were stopping me from sending any email because my account was over quota. The generic error message on the Phone was no help at all - but when I tried sending email from the Exchange Web Client, I got a more helpful error message, and was able to go clear out some old attachments, and now it all works.
I'm away from my office at the moment, and using a 3rd party SMTP server for mail relay - and even at work, because I use SMTP to send email, I'm not sure that I get that error message (my account was well over quota, so this didn't happen recently, I don't think) - but because the iPhone is doing things 'the exchange way' it catches the error; it just doesn't do anything very helpful with it.

  • HT6030 Does OS X 10.9 use Exchange ActiveSync protocol for the built-in Mail client?

    Anyone knows ?

Quit Mail. Force quit if necessary.
Back up all data. That means you know you can restore the Mail database, no matter what happens.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar. Paste into the box that opens (command-V), then press return.
A folder window will open. Inside it there should be files with names as follows:
    Envelope Index
    ExternalUpdates.storedata
Move those files to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Other files in the folder may have longer names that begin as above. Move those files, if any, to the Trash.
Log out and log back in. Relaunch Mail. It should prompt you to re-import your messages. You may get a warning that the index is damaged and that Mail has to quit. Click OK. Warning: The process may take hours if you have gigantic mailboxes. For reasonable-sized mailboxes, it should only take a few minutes.
Test. If Mail now works as expected, you can delete the files you moved to the Desktop. Otherwise, post your results.

  • Office 365 Exchange ActiveSync Autodiscovery & iPad

    Hi All,
    The story:
We have configured Hybrid coexistence of our local exchnage server and office 365.
We are experiencing the problem with the configuring office 365 account using exchange activesync autodiscovery settings on the iPads and iPhones.
Outlook desktop clients are able to locate the settings automatically.
Only device which can locate servername and settings automatically using actiesync autodiscover is Windows Phone Device.
    Per Microsoft:
Certain mobile device that won't autoconfigure this problem occurs if the mobile device does not fully support certain Exchange ActiveSync protocol requirements for redirection. Since we are not the provider of the OS for these devices we apologize as we cannot troubleshoot beyond the information provided to configure mobile devices.
This is a problem for us. Because if we want to migrate user's mailbox to cloud and he has configured the ActiveSync account after migration he need to reconfigure his active sync profile on his mobile device.
Can someone confirm that iOs devices might not fully support certain Exchange ActiveSync protocol requirements from Microsoft for redirection?

  • Exchange ActiveSync and alpha passcode

    Hello,
What is the proper setting when using an EAS policy to force the iPhone (or iPad/iPod) to display the qwerty keyboard for the passcode without forcing a combination of complex characaters? Specifically, I want to set a six character password but I don't want the numeric keyboard to show up; I want to encourage the use of the alpha keyboard.
Ideally, I would prohibit the use of an all-numeric (10 character set) passcode and enforce a minimum 26 character set instead.
    Thanks,

Not exactly - this forces numbers and letters. I want to force letters only, or at least show the letters on the keyboard by default.
If I use the IPCU, I can accomplish this by:
    - Mininmum Passowrd Length: 6
    - Require Alphanumeric  Value: Checked
    - Mininum number of complex characters: 0
Very frustrating that this seems not to be the case when using Exchange ActiveSync Policies.

  • Versamail Exchange ActiveSync wireless push e-mail ONLY; Sync Contacts/Calendar via Desktop/USB

I use a 3rd party conduit, PalmPilot Link for Commence RM CRM software from Commence Corp. which works with the Palm Desktop sync engine to sync my Contacts, Calendar, Tasks and Memos. Recently I tested VersaMail 3.5.5 on my Rogers Treo 680 (despite zero support from Rogers) with push e-mail and loved it until I discovered I could no longer sync my Contacts and Calendar with Commence. Even with the options in VersaMail to sync Contacts and the Calendar unchecked they would not sync via the USB cable to Commence.
I have come across Palm Article ID: 42600 which states "Once you establish an Exchange ActiveSync account in VersaMail, you will not be able to sync Calendar, Contacts or Email through the USB HotSync cable". It would be nice if this wasn't the case when synching of Contacts and the Calendar are turned off. A call to technical support confirmed there is no way to do what I need with the current product version.
I have found a competitive product, RoadSync from DataViz does allow me to sync ONLY e-mail with ActiveSync so it would seem to be technically possible.  The problem with RoadSync is it's not a true push e-mail on the Treo 680 as far as I can tell and it seems a little pricey with fewer features than VersaMail, except for one feature which is very important to anyone who depends on 3rd party conduits.
Please consider releasing a new version or a patch to allow synching Contacts and the Calendar via USB while using Exchange ActiveSync push e-mail.
Note: The Commence CRM product for Windows has been around for almost 20 years and has supported the Palm OS for about 10 years. Commence users everywhere would love this feature in VersaMail. I do not work for Commence Corp. but have been a user since 1991 and a Palm user since 1999.

  • Exchange ActiveSync on a BlackBerry Smartphone device

I work for a LARGE software company in Redmond, WA that is not terribly BlackBerry friendly.  I would like to purchase a Pearl 8120 and have it sync with my work email (Exchange server).
Is there a way to configure a BlackBerry device to use Exchange ActiveSync so I can use it for corporate email?
The only support doc I can find that mentions EAS is as follows (near the bottom of the doc)
    http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB04156&sliceId=SAL_Pub...
It discusses a conflict with using a BES wireless signal (which I don't want) and an EAS signal (which I do want).
Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

As well as NotifySync you should try our product AstraSync from www.astrasync.com. Priced at $49 per user per year (we are happy to post a price on our website, and indeed post to this forum without posing as an individual ) it comes in cheaper than NotifySync.
Give us a try free for seven days and make your own mind up!

  • Iphone 3g with Exchange Activesync lackluster battery life

    Hey fellow IPhone people!
I just bought my first Iphone and just returned my first Blackberry Storm in favor of the IPhone's superior UI.
I use Exchange Activesync to synchronize my company email/contacts/calendar with my IPhone. It seems to work well, however, I have noticed that it checks for new mail about every 5 or so seconds while I am in the mail application.
I have the settings set to manual and push for the Fetch of mail, however, it still seems to check for mail every 5-10 seconds.
Given this the battery life is terrible. By mid day my battery is more than half gone and I charge it fully each evening.
Has anyone else experienced this who is actively running Exchange Activesync?
Can this be a settings issue on either the IPhone or on Exchange?
Please advise if you have specific experience with this.
I think either I have a faulty iPhone battery or ??
    Thanks !

There's something stuck in the Calendar sync...! You can check your phone's usage in the Setting-->General-->Usage... You will find the usage is abnormal high once you turn on Calendar sync with exchange. I have the same problem...2.1 didn't fix it. Now, the only thing I can do is turn on Calendar sync. But Contact and Email works fine. I found out this problem when I was doing a international travel...There's non-stop international data roaming communication between iPhone and Exchange which transmitted 100MB data in a morning, cost me US$2,000 !!!

  • Blackberry Hub slow when switching from any account to an Exchange Activesync account

I'm experiencing a very slow hub when switching from any account (facebook, LinkedIn, Whatsapp, Gmail, etc...) TO my work email using Exchange Activesync. When switching back from Exchange Activesync TO any other account the issue is noy there. It basically takes a couple of minutes to enter the Exchange Activesync acocunt, and looking at the Device Monitor, CPU section, seems like the Hub process is constantly at 50% CPU usage during this time. This is really causing me lots of issues, as of course I switch between accounts quite frequently. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks for the support!

I'm having the same issue.  What can be causing it.
It was fine using a Z30 until 10.3.1.1865 was recently updated.
Switching between all other accounts is fine just when going to my exchange account (or the main hub view)

  • Question regarding Exchange ActiveSync migration from Exchange 2003

    Hello,
I am a bit confused about info about requirements when migrating Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) from 2003 to 2010. Now this question is related to EAS only, forget about other services, such as OWA or Outlook Anywhere, for a while.
Basically, all migration guides state that you have to configure and setup a legacy url for legacy services for co-existence. Based on that, I have had an understanding that Exchange 2010 CAS cannot proxy EAS users that are still on Exchange 2003, but issues
a redirect command to EAS client.
However, this article shows information that, based on my understanding, states that Exchange 2010 CAS DOES proxy EAS clients that are still on 2003: http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2009/12/08/3408985.aspx
For migration from 2007 EAS to 2010 EAS the article shows redirecting, but not with 2003.
So my question is: While talking about only EAS, do I need to configure legacy external url/namespace/name resolution or not?
    Thanks for answering!

    Hello,
    I agree with Rajith's suggestion.

  • Enterprise Data Plan required for Exchange Active Sync?

    From:
    http://www.wireless.att.com/cell-phone-service/specials/iphone-info.jsp
"What is the Enterprise Data plan?
Customers interested in using iPhone to access corporate email, business applications or corporate intranet will activate with an Enterprise Data Plan for iPhone."
So, if I have a normal $30 data plan will I be able to connect to my companies Exchange server with email/contacts/calendar push? Is there really a way AT&T could prevent me from using the Exchange Active Sync on the iPhone 3G without the Enterprise data plan?
I'm just a regular guy who works at a small company and would like my personal cell phone - used 99% of the time for personal needs - to be able to access my work email/calendar/contacts.
    Message was edited by: engstrom

Ok, so I went by the AT&T store this afternoon to pre-approve my credit in order to save time on the 11th. Well, turns out it won't help, because they told me they are going to have to run a special iPhone credit check the day you buy it anyway, so it is pointless to get pre-approved (great job AT&T).
But, back to the subject at hand, they gave me this piece of paper with all this info on getting ready for the iPhone. Under the iPhone for business heading, it reads:
"It's easy to set up your iPhone for business use on company intranet sites, corporate email or other business applications. SIMPLY SELECT ANY BUSINESS VOICE RATE PLAN and add a $45 Enterprise Data plan for iPhone..."
To me, this would mean that you would have to start with a base business plan, then add the iPhone Enterprise data. Well, if you are an individual opening a personal account, can you even sign up for a business plan? If this is the case, then their own literature prevents you from even getting the Enterprise plan if you wanted to. It seems to me that the would be proof that you don't HAVE to have the Enterprise plan to use ActiveSync, Exchange, etc.
