Is caching available in WSA 670

Hi all,
Is caching available in WSA ?.I think this will help us to reduce the bandwidth consumption.
Thanks
Bijin

Bijin,
Yes - Web security appliance also acts as a proxy device and provides caching option. In todays deynamic web, most of the content is not-cache worthy as the data chnages so dynamic rate. However, if there is a specific pattern in you network where the end-users tend to access data which is relatively less dynamic, then it should help you in saving bandwidth.
Thanks,
Satish

  • QoS Cisco SCE8000, Caching Cisco IronPort WSA, Loadbalancing Cisco ACE solution

    Hi all,
Our customer is a mobile operator. They need a integrated solution for caching, QoS and Loadbalancing in a combination. From my understanding of their goals, they need to providing stable and speedy broadband access as well as good user experience by the differentiation service offering. They need to classify IP traffic and prioritize and control of content-based services for a given subscriber while transparently and dynamically redirect and load balance the application level classified of IP traffic to a proxy caching server regardless of protocols such as http, https, ssl, ftp, flv, mms and rstp, sip, p2p....
Attached pls find the RFP and technical specification for Caching and QoS.
I appreciate your expertise to consult me whether I can propose for them the Cisco ACE standalone appliance or ACE engine module for 7600/6500 for loadbalancing, Cisco IronPort WSA for caching and dual Cisco SCE8000 for QoS as an integrated solution. Is this solution feasible/workable and where could I find the same reference or solution design or technical guidance on this?
Thanks a lot and would like to hear from you at the soonest!

    Hi all,
I am using ucm10g, using java api to access content, the function is for listing subdirectories of father directory, list files of 1 directory, download some files, search keywords, etc.
I reseached ucm doc, seems ucm offers the following cache:
Search caches: I can use it.
Reverse proxy web caching and page caching: since I don't use site studio and wcm, seems I can't use this cache.
cacheInclude Idoc: I don't know what's this cache for.
The question is whether ucm offer cache for listing subdirectories and listing files when user use CIS?

  • Standard Servlet caching mechanism

    Gurus,
Is there any standards on caching servlet reponse. Most of the application servers provide their own mechanism to cache servlet response.
I am looking for application server netural standards for caching servlet resposne. If there is no standards for caching available in any of the servlet > 2 releases, probably i would send an email to servlet specification guys to think on something like this.
Its lot of pain when you write code in some server and deploy it on some other server where the servlet caching response caching is suported.
Any help in this will be appreciated

    Here is more explanation...
Suppose for an example, a servlet that accepts parameter(s) and queries the database and displays a html text, may be around 100 records. ok?
Next time when you make the same request with same set of parameters, the servlet excecutes the db query again and display the same result when it was intially called.
Now my question, is there standard mechanism to cache the servlet reponse at server side and when the request is made with same set of parameters, it would be served from the cache instead of making db call.
In addition to that, it should work under all the application server when you deploy
Let me know if this clear enough, or i can add more stuff in here.

  • Sxi_cache & clear sld cache

    hi all,
i want to know the difference between sxi_cache & clear sld cache.
    regards,
    Mohammed.

    Hi,
    Generally,
SXI_CACHE shows you IR and ID objects cached on ABAP stack used during runtime.
Clear SLD data cache available in IR allows you to refresh SWCVs chenged in SLD.

  • Allocate license for WSA with redundancy

    Hi Team,
My customer have 2 sites: DC & DR. They get 2 box WSA/site with 3k users.
Pls advice me how to allocate 3k users to 4 box WSA 670.
    Thank

Hi. If I understand your question correctly you need to share license with all devices.
If so this guide will help you:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/services/ps10436/ps11169/ironport-sw-license-activation-key-process.pdf
If you haven't fullfiled your PAK then see "Product Activation for Software Products" from link I attached.
During the process at step "Assign SKUs to Devices" you can use the button "Add device" and put S/N of all your devices then you will get feature keys for all appliances that you have.
If you have fullfilled your PAK and want to add more devices then you should see "Sharing Active Licenses with Additional Devices: Detailed Process Steps" from link above.

  • Cache database results within any of your software applications?

Have you had to cache database results within any of your software applications? What are the advantages and pitfalls developers should be aware of when caching database results.
    plz reply....
    ........thnks.

We have cached the database results in client side cache (partially in arrays and in files on OS as well). But this caching is restricted to purely STATIC data (which undergoes no change under any circumstances).
Our application relies a lot on static data and we managed to reduce 10% of network bandwidth with this implementation.
We tried using client side cache for not-so-static data but had lot of issues related to refresh of the same so we reverted that change.
On a side note, this does remind me of the client result cache available in Oracle 11g.

  • LOCAL OLAP CACHE AND GLOBAL OLAP CACHE

what is local olap cache and global olap cache...
what is the difference between ....can you explain  scenario plz...
    will reward with points
    thanks in advance

    Hello GURU
Local cache is specific to a user, before BW 3.0 it was only local cache available...if a user run the query data will come to cache from infoprovider and next time same query will not go to Data base instead it will fetch data from cache memory...this cache will be used only for that particular user...if some other user try the same query it will not pick up dta from cache.....
BW 3.0 onward we have global cache which means several user can access same cache for the same query or data which is related in cache...

thanks to anyone taking the time to reply

    Hi there,
You are probably using IP address surrogates.  This is only ideal for environments where users do not share computers.  Once a user authenticates, the WSA will remember that User X is logged on to this IP address for 1 hour by default.  Once the 1 hour expires, then the WSA will ask the client for authentication again.
If you are in an environment where users share computers, you may want to change the surrogate to Session Cookie so that each socket will need authentication.
Hint:  You can clear the authentication cache using the 'authcache' command in the CLI.
Based on your other posts, it sounds like all your users will be authenticated using the F5 Load Balancer's IP address.  IP address surrogates are not an option for you with this type of deployment since most (if not all) of your users will be coming from the F5's IP address.

  • Arch64 RAM issues [Solved]

So I thought everything was fine until an application told me I had 4gb of RAM which is a far cry from the installed 16gb.
I did plenty of digging around and narrowed it down to a couple possibilities, but first my investigation:
    I started with free:
    [vuvffufg@HereAndNow-Main ~]$ free
total used free shared buff/cache available
    Mem: 4015688 858084 115144 24832 3042460 2860360
    Swap: 16777212 22460 16754752
As you can see it shows their is 4gb of RAM much as the application did.
You can see I have 16gb of swap; I am aware and am not confusing swap with RAM, I damn well have 4x4gb sticks according to the memtest86+ option on boot.
So then I thought hardware and tried dmidecode --type memory:
[vuvffufg@HereAndNow-Main ~]$ sudo dmidecode --type memory
    [sudo] password for vuvffufg:
    # dmidecode 2.12

Found it quite strange that the OS can obviously see the memory it just isn't being allocated, also what is with the slow clock speeds?
I found a similar output with lshw.
So I moved on to checking how it is actually initialized in dmesg, and honestly a lot of what was output I don't quite understand, I noticed that some memory was being reserved by the RAM map given by BIOs yet have no obvious way of disabling the BIOs RAM scheduler.

I figure there is plenty of unnecessary info in the dmesg and I apologize, but I want to find the problem of this illusive RAM.
    My system specs:
    AMD FX-8350
    4x4gb CMZ8GX3M2A160 Corsair RAM
    Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3
    NVidia GT 640
Please can someone guide me to the answer of the missing RAM?

    Yes it is 64bit:
    [vuvffufg@HereAndNow-Main ~]$ uname -a

  • Resume results in blank screen after trying to install printer

Yesterday, I tried to install a network printer (got some trouble with cups, avahi, ...). But after a successful installation, I noticed that resume from suspend doesn't work anymore.
I tried to disable all services I had enabled, but to no avail. I tried to look for something related to cups or printer drivers blocking resume, but couldn't find anything about it.
The suspend log also doesn't reveal any problems.
I don't know how to debug this further.

I dont believe it has anything to do with printing.  There is a known bug in 3.17.3 / 3.17.4 that affects i686 kernels
