Is Canon's CaptureOnTouch enough for DR-2010M scanner with Yosemite?

Canon-Europe makes available for download the CaptureOnTouch ver. 1.4 for Mac, which it says is compatible with OS X 10.10 (Yosemite).
Is that all the software needed to allow the Canon ImageFormula DR-2010M scanner work with Yosemite? Or is a separate TWAIN driver also required?
(Right now, I'm using CaptureOnTouch ver. 1.4 for Mac under OS X 10.9.5, with no problem. But I'm unsure whether I'd ever installed some additional driver.)

Since I'm new to this VM thing...it sounds like it is NOT possible to save files in windows to the OSX partition? So every time I scan and save a file I'd need to drag and drop the file over from the VM window to a folder in OSX?
That's correct. The Mac can see the Windows partition but Windows cannot see the Mac. So you will have to scan into a Windows folder first, but then drag that file from the scans folder directly into a Mac folder of choice. We were doing this with an old Canon film scanner until we got a new Canon 8800F.

    MissBea,
You can probably use your Canon printer with your HP notebook.
When connecting an HP printer to the computer, the printer works best when the printer software for that printer is downloaded and installed on the computer.
I would suggest that you need to do the same for the cannon printer, that is, you should download and install the driver (software) onto the computer.   After you install the driver, and connect the printer using whatever means you have (wireless, USB, Ethernet), you should be able to control the printer from the computer.
Instead of installing HP printer software, you will need to install the printer software for your cannon printer.

  • What external hard drives for backup are compatible with Yosemite?

I have an early 2013 MBP Retina 15" and have installed Yosemite. I want to purchase an external hard drive for backup via Time Machine. I have read that Western Digital drives were associated with data loss with Mavericks; I do not know if that has been corrected. Has anyone backuped successfully on an external hard drive with Yosemite installed, and if so, can you let me and others know the brand and model. Many thanks.

    Understood.
I don't receive any compensation for promoting any product from any computer, hard drive or computer peripheral manufacturer. I don't receive any compensation from any of those manufacturers or sellers for any reason. In fact I was not promoting any product, I was responding to the poster's query and was stating that I have observed the drives in use and working with the Mac OS.
My workplace is a consumer of these items and we buy and use thousands of PCs, Macs, WD and non-WD drives, and so forth. I was providing information about whether WD drives work with Macs running various operating systems. I don't promote any particular brand, we use many different ones here.

  • Dual 2.3 G5, good enough for LP8 and rewire with Abe Live ?

I have a Dual 2.3 G5 which i run with Logic Pro 7 and many plug-ins. There are only a few times when i freeze tracks and knock on wood my system runs really well.
However i wanna upgrade to Logic Pro 8 and Live 7 and don't want to upgrade my machine until i can afford a Mac Pro 8 Core.
Will my machine be able to comfortably run Log and Live rewired ?
Or should i upgrade to an intel iMac for the time being, will that b considerably faster than my G5 ?
    Thanks
    F

just make sure you have enough ram.
I'm using Reason and Live 6 with no problems.
If it's a big orch thing then I have to freeze tracks. Otherwise I'm using a 256k buffer all the time for tracking and mixing. If I start having trouble, then I'll bump up the buffer when mixing.
It's hard to believe these machines are long in the tooth, but they are.
I'm on the fence about getting a new machine, since everything is working so well now......but ymmv.
Logic 8 is tons better than Logic 7.

  • Purchased Lightroom educator version for use on Mac with Yosemite and it won't open.  It crashes overtime I try to open it.

I purchased Lightroom for use on a MAC using the new operating system of Yosemite, and it crashes every time it tries to open.  I have removed and reinstalled it, but it does not help.  Is this program mac compatible?  How can I get it to work?

This should not be so difficult, and really does not require a screenshot, or a chain of a dozen email.
The message says “Lightroom quit unexpectedly.  Click report to send a report to apple.”  There is no error number or any other message.  That is it.
It has been installed, removed and reinstalled.
    IT DOES NOT OPEN.
How do I resolve this.  I have now spent hours on this issue and I am in the same place.

  • ***CALLING ALL MACBOOK AIR USERS*** Will the base model of the 2013 Macbook Air 11" be enough for my needs?

    Ok,
This is my first post to this forum.
I have a Late 2011 i5 Macbook Pro. I used this last year during college but the weight was just unbearable. I have decided this year to upgrade to a Macbook Air. Here is my question.
I am starting uni and will be studying Nursing and so I will not be using any heavy software or progaming etc.
The only thing I will use is Office for Mac and browsing. I normally keep around 15 browser tabs open whilst I research.
I also like to download so I would also like Vuse on my Macbook too. I own an external hardrive and so memory isnt a big deal (unless it makes a difference to the performance of the mac itself, Sorry im not great with this stuff)
Do you guys think the base model of the 11" Macbook Air (1.3ghz, 4GB ram, 128GB SSD) will be enough for my needs or do you think I would need to custom build it (1.7ghz, 8GB ram, 128GB SSD)?
My boyfriend thinks for what im using it for the base model will be fine but I dont want to get it to find that its not enough as my main concern is lag but I also do not want to pay extra for something which isnt going to be fully used (ie my current Macbook Pro).
For those of you who do have the 11' Macbook air, how are you finding it? Also, this will be my main computing device, I am selling my Pro but am thinking of buying the wireless keyboard and trackpad so I can connect to an extenal monitor whilst im at home.
Thank you guys in adavnce for any answers.

I too have a 2011 mackbook pro and I also have a mid 2012 mackbook air 128 gb ssd and 4 gb ram , I am probably goint to sell the pro because I just don't use it anymore . If you intend to do heavy multi tasking 8gb ram as suggested by a previous poster might be worth the extra money.

    Thank, Ric

Printopia is another option but be aware that since these solutions effectively act as a print server and AirPrint receiver, they require a computer to be running on the same WiFi network.
Canon also has a couple of apps in the App Store that might facilitate this on non-AirPrint printers. Check out...

  • I want to buy ipod touch 4 (8GB) , but i dont know is that enough for me

I want to buy ipod touch 4, my friends said i should buy 8GB one, but i dont know is 8GB enough for me to use. some people said that it only have 6.7GB for you to use, cause the ipod apps already used some of it. I want to have maybe 100 songs, some apps, pics, few games, 5-7 books, few online movies. For some of these, i would probably delete them and download new ones. So, any suggestion?? Please? I really want to buy it before this summer. but i dont want waste my money.

I would opt for the 32 GB one. Many users have been disappointed when they purchased the 8 GB since they quickly filled it.
Some apps can take 1 GB themselves. See the following for some other stirage useages:

  • Connecting the canon SX50 to HDTV for video playback???

Connecting the canon SX50 to HDTV for video playback???
ok, Got this Camera, like it, except for a few confusing issues. I was told, in order to playback HD video onto my HDTV Samsung, with an HDMI4 on the left side of the TV, all I needed was a HDMI to HDMI cable.
(#1) Shut off both TV and camera, plug the cable into this HDMI plugin, turn on the TV and Camera power supply, and it should recognize, then start paying.
Well, I did it both ways, (#1) shut off, then turn on, and (#2) I just inserted the camera's HDMI to the HDMI4 while both were on, and tried opening up the Samsung's' Tools >Inputs, etc, and still nothing!
Is there an easy way to accomplish this?
The second issue i'm having , is how to shut off the slow motion playback, when viewing the videos, which were not recorded in slow--mo, and it's frustrating trying to playback in normal speed, but instead it plays in slow-mo.
I'm not quite sure I'm recording in full HD...The payback is only 60i

    Thanks grazie!
Well, i accomplished most of that and at least got the video on the display (Samsung Anynet HDMI3) But no sound!
I was also able to control the SX50 TV Display with my samsung remote, kool.
As far as the playbgack volume, I checked the camera, I did notice the OPERATIONAL SOUND was off, but when I played back the video on the camera itself, i did have volume.
On that subject of Slow motion videos, if i'm watching each video, then see one playing back in slow-motion, does that mean i actually filmed it in slow motion, without knowing? ( i can send it through Pinnacle Studio 15HD and speed it back up, but theres no background volume anyway)  if i did unknowingly videotaped in slow motion, i bettter be more observant in the future.
I'm going to increase that ''Operational sound'' on the tools / Camera and try to playback to see if I have any sound.
I have a Yamaha 7.1 reciever, and TV, BD player,Time-Warner cable all is connected to this receiver....I was pushing all buttons for inputs to see which one would work for sound with video, but could not find any.  Thanks, or grazie grazie!

  • Apple MacBook Air 2011 - powerful enough for most tasks?

I want to buy the 2011 model of MacBook Air 13” 128GB, but I have some questions for you guys, would appreciate it if you experts have answers:
    1) I'm currently on a two year old Acer Aspire 6920G laptop with 17”, Windows 7, Core Duo 2 (T5750 @ 2.0 Ghz) and 3 GB RAM - will my new MacBook Air feel one million times faster to use?
    2) Can I later (easily/cheaply) upgrade the MBA's RAM to 8GB?
    3) I mostly use web browsers, office software, IM programs, media players etc., but I will also use it a lot for electronic music making (with Ableton Live and virtual instruments/effects) and DJ’ing (with Avid Torq). I almost never do any heavy duty image work, and I rarely code/edit video - will the MBA be fast enough for the things I do most often, or do I have to get a MacBook Pro?
    4) How often does the fan start up? And when it's on, how much noise does it really make when it approaches 6500 RPM?
    5) I read that with Lion the fan is running more than with previous OS'es - can this really be fixed with booting in 32-bit rather than 64-bit? And what will that entail for the CPU power/battery longevity/software compability?
    6) Is the graphics adapter in my current PC (nVidia GeForce 9500M GS) much more powerful than the MBA's Intel HD3000, or is it almost the same now?
    7) Is it easy to run Windows XP or 7 in Boot Camp? I have a few Windows programs I'd like to continue using.
    8) Should I alternatively use a few more bucks and get a MacBook Pro with SSD-disk? Is that less "locked" and more compatible with what might happen in the future, technology-wise?
    9) Is it possible/cheap to switch the English keyboard to a Norwegian one next time I'm visiting Norway?
I have to make a purchase of a new laptop soon, so I'd GREATLY appreciate any answers. Since I have had software- and hardware problems with every PC I've ever owned, I frankly do not trust them anymore. So here we go then - Mac!

Let's see if I can help
1)The i5 Macbook air should be considerably faster than your previous laptop. Mostly because of the SSD and the i5 processor.
2)I'm not sure about the latest macbook airs, but previous models have their RAM modules soldered to the Logic Board, I don't think you can upgrade the RAM at all.
3)The MacBook Air might be fast enough, but Just, I would go with a Macbook Pro, mostly because it's easier to upgrade.
4)It will kick in several times but rarely at full speed, and it's not that loud. Would recommend a macbook pro for cooler running.
    5) I didn't notice any difference between Lion and Snow Leopard regarding fan activity. Lion is a 64-bit only system, there is no way to boot in a full 32-bit environment. Compatibility can be an issue with some software, ie. traktor users have been reporting problems with external hardware running Lion, but updates will fix these soon.
6)They are at comparable levels, the Intel HD 3000 might even be better at some point. It's much better than the 9400m that older macbook airs had.
7)Yes, as long as you have the optional super drive to install it.
8)Yes, that would be a better idea.
9)I don't think so, never heard of people swapping keyboards on Macbook Airs or Pro's.
I'd buy a MacBook Pro if you are planning to keep it for long. It's more powerful, more upgradeable and runs cooler and quieter than the air.
Hope you get your mac soon!

I zoomed in on a picture online by holding control and open pinching and for some reason, my desktop was enlarged as well. How I can't zoom out enough for my desktop to return to normal? I would like to be able to see my whole desktop without scrolling over to see the time or the file menu!

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

  • Is it good enough for gaming?

My question is actually does the Macbook Pro have enough of the graphics and stuff i'd be buying the i7 2,3ghz and 8gb ram
Will it be enough for running CoD serie and BF for instense?
    Greetz

Without knowing much about gaming, I would definitely say yes. Without any problems. As long as they are compatible, they should show up more vivid and beautiful than in other computers.
    Cheers

  • Is (4770 3.5 i7 qouad core 8 mb cach) good enough for premier and after effect?

    Hi guys,
am buying the new imac 27" with its maximum features: 32 GB, 1 TB ssd, NVidia gtx 780 with 4GB, but I am worried about the cpu (4770 3.5 i7 qouad core 8 mb cach) is it good enough for premier and after effect?

Thanks John, but I've already read that page. I have just a simple question about the performance of "4 core" and "6core" if anyone had already tried both of them.

  • Is the 13 inch base Macbook Pro Enough for me?

Hi, i am entering college in the fall and am wondering whether the base 13 inch macbook pro is enough for my needs. i have a very tight budget.. I will most likely carry this around 5 days a week, but i do want to dabble in a little photo/video/audio editing as well. I have a midrange dslr that i love to shoot photos and videos with, and i am starting to get into home recording audio, with an audio interface running mics drums and guitars. i am wondering if the base macbook pro is enough to handle all that i throw to it. i come from an old hp with a core 2 duo processor, 4 gigs of ram and a 500gb hard drive but it is having quite a hard time with all the editing id like to do. what do you guys think?

    Hey Chris,
i think the best decision you can do is that you buy the cheaper 13'' MBP and Upgrade it to 8 GB of RAM plus you buy a SSD and built it in yourself (if u have the know-how). If not there are Special Services from authorised resellers Where you can bring your SSD and Pay about 40€ for Installation (that's the way ist is Here in Germany). And until fall a 256 Gb SSD will probably Cost 170€ or less (in $ it Should be much cheaper)
