Is CF the right one for me?

I am trying to decide if CF is the right language for a side
project I am beginning. I am not a beginner to web design but am
far from advanced. I have made stuff in the past and have a
knowledge of html. I also use to write software in VB6 (nothing to
crazy just small side stuff). I am embarking on a project to write
some intranet workbench software for my company. I want it to serve
as a salesmen ordering/tracking system as well as a project
management system. Obviously it is a big task and I am going to
break it into small pieces to work on over time and continue to
expand and use it.
I have seen CF before and know people who swear by it. I have
used it briefly so I have some understanding.
My question would be as to the correct way to move forward on
this project.
First, is a web project vs. a standalone installed product
the way to go?
Second, what is the right technology (CF, ASP?) I have no
knowledge of ASP so that would be a learning curve.
It is not expected to be hit by a tremendous amount of
employees. Currently we have 29 and I was going to use an access
database so any server technology should be less of a bottleneck
than my database.
I guess before I start in the wrong direction I wanted to get
some feedback on what direction you all would recommend?

Coldfusion is a kids language, a dying language, an out of
date
language, ect, ect.
No seriously, the main problem with CF is adoption. Some folk
complain about
cost, but the issue is adoption (though I am sure there is a
connection).
If CF not being as popular as other soultions is not a
problem (popularity
isn't everything), then go for it if you can afford it.
Personally I would
be considering better priced options that offer more RAD
features (Ruby On
Rails, for example, is free) - but that wuold be mostly
becasue I am not
sure what the future holds for CF and I happen to know that
the Ruby option
is much faster to code.
If CF is something you are comfortable with, then there is no
reason to not
use it - it WILL get the job done.

  • How can i find out which Macbook is the right one for me?

I am looking into buying anew laptop and I'm currently considering a macbook as oppose to a windows laptop. which one is the right one for me?
    1. I will be using it for my work at college and university so it will need to have a reasonable amount of storage and have the correct programs.
    2. I use the internet alot.
    3. I have an ipod touch so i will need storage for my music.
    4. It will need it to be quite quick.
    5. It will need to support some software that i use on windows.
Also, do you think a macbook is what i need as oppose to windows. what are the pros and cons of the macbook

This is the most important question. I would check with your school. They may have a recommendation for what you need and the software you will need to use. They also may have a discount program for you to purchase your computer. If not Apple does have an education discount plan to give you a break.
    5. it will need to support some software that I use on windows.
Hard to give an answer for this as we have no idea what your going to be using or what your school requires you to use. My sons college had specific programs he had to have.

  • Are not the right ones for the icloud account. How can I find out what these are?

I have downloaded icloud onto my PC. When I try to access my account I am told that although my Apple ID and password are correct they are not the right ones for the icloud account. How can I find out what these are?

Oh, then you can't unless you know someone with a Mac you could use for a moment or 2. (Like at the Apple Store)

  • Switching to a MacBook from a PC. Is this the right one for me?

I currently have an IPhone and IPad  and am looking to purchase a MacBook to complete my Apple experience!   I have always been a PC user and will continue to use one at work, but am ready to transition to a Mac for my personal use.
I currently have a Gateway MX6453 with Windows XP version 2002, which is outdated and not meeting my needs.  I do a high volume of photo's, editing, website posting-updating, etc.  It is frustrating that it is just slow and non responding.
Based on reviews and features I have narrowed down my selection to the MacBook Pro 13" with Retina Display.  My ultimate question is have I selected the right model and specs based on the usage of my current PC, IPhone and IPad in addition to what my needs are today and in the future. I am not to savvy when it comes to GB, processor speeds, memory, etc so I am just going to list what specs my systems currently have and what is being used.  In addition to what I plan to do with the MacBook.
Current PC: (I think I have this listed correctly)
    Gateway MX6453
    Windows XP Version 2002
    Storage Size: 1.6 GB
    HD RPM 5400
    Processor Speed: 1.6 GHz
    Ram: 1.87 GB
    Bus Speed: 1600 MHz
C Drive total 14.2 GB   Free 57.5 GB (I may have written this wrong)
    Local 6.82 Free 2.79
    IPhone:
    13.3 GB - Used 12.2. (Photos-Camera Roll take up 6.6 GB)
    iPad:
    13.6 GB - Used 12.3
What I want to use MacBook for:
60% photos, 25% videos and 15% documents (word, excel, pdf's etc)
    Photos and video editing
Website and Facebook management- uploading content, pictures, etc.
    Surfing internet
This is what I am thinking of buying:
    13-inch: 2.4GHz
    with Retina display
    Specifications
    2.4GHz dual-core Intel Core i5
    Turbo Boost up to 2.9GHz
    8GB 1600MHz memory
    256GB PCIe-based flash storage1
    Intel Iris Graphics
    Built-in battery (9 hours)2
    $1,499.00

I you are going to use a lot of photos and videos you would be better off getting more storage than the 256 GB...the 512 GB would be smarter to get.

  • Tiger 10.4.11 vs Leopard 10.5 did I get the right one for me?

I recently installed Tiger 10.4.11 ..waiting for iLife 05 and Office Mac S&T Edition to arrive.
I chose Tiger 10.4 over Leopard 10.5 b/c of Leopard's recommended processor speed of 867 ...mine is 667.
I now realize that some folks in the forum are running Leopard 10.5.
Did I choose wisely or not? Not sure what I am missing.
    TIA, Barb

I'm half asleep and can't think of the name right now, but 10.5 (and up) has built-in VNC so you can use remote desktop (see/use another computer's desktop just like you're on that other computer) without any additional software. With 10.4 I have to use a third-party app (was using ChickenoftheVNC, now using JollysFastVNC), which is free, but not very fast and not bug-free. In any case, it allows me to be on any one of my computers and work on/from a different one, just like I'm on the other one (ok, I'm not sure I can even make sense of that ).

  • Which macbook is the right one for me

I want to buy a macbook pro but I'm not sure which one is for me I want it for itunes watching movies (don't need a cd drive) for photos so I need it to be crystal clear and can handle like about 10 games like minecraft and gta san andreas plus internet surfing

    Madmo jackson,
presuming that you’re trying to decide between MacBook Pro models available new, all of them will let you run iTunes, watch movies, view photos, and surf the Internet. The right choice will come down to what those ten games are; which of those games has the most demanding system requirements, and what exactly are that game’s system requirements? (MacBook Pros aren’t primarily designed for gaming.)

  • Which HDD is the right one for Qosmio G30

    Hi every one
I have a Qosmio G30-161. The recovery discs are interrupted by a blue screen and windows cannot be installed!
I tried installing a retail windows xp but did not recognize the hard disk!
I am almost convinced that the problem in the hard disc - the laptop has2-60G each!
The question is: what is the right hard disk that will fit the laptop!
In the specifications there were written S.M.A.R.T !!
    What is that mean?

    Hi buddy,
You can order such HDDs from an authorized service provider in your country. Did you already ask the guys if they can order a new HDD for you?
Qosmio G30 supports already HDDs with SATA interface so you can also buy HDDs with larger capacity. If you search for a new HDD, its only important that it has SATA interface and 2.5 form factor.

  • Thunderbird asks for password but won't accept the right one for email account

Just installet Thunderbird on my Mac and I know my password but TB is asking for it every time I start the program and I retype it but it won't accept it over and over again. I use iCloud and all is right configured by the auto installation

...or just buy the products you are using!
I was not asked for my serial after updating.
    But beeing friendly:
There is one chance, that you will be asked for your serial number.
When you got a new PPC and backuped your entire harddrive from
another PPC (the old one) then you will be asked for your serial
number, because your "Ethernet MAC Address" changed!

  • Which MacBook Pro is the right one for me?

    Hello
At the moment I'm using a MacBook Pro 15" early 2011, 2.0 i7, 8GB Ram, AMD 6490M and an SSD. The most used applications are ArchiCAD, Adobe Suite, Rhinoceros, Cinema 4D. Half of the time the MacBook Pro is connected to a Thunderbold Display.
My question is, is the Iris Pro good enough for these applications? Or should I take the bigger one with the 750m?
May there will be an update für the MacBook Pros at the WWDC?
    Thank,
    Stefan

If they follow the same path as last year (2013) it would stand to reason that there won't be a new machine until October of this year, since there were early and late models of the MacBook Pro last year. However, Apple usually follows a twice-a-year release so that would make this the mid-year state. I don't see them doing that (I may be wrong, of course) but there's simply no new technology beyond that which was released in the Late 2013 models.
Just wait and in a couple of weeks, we'll both know!

  • Is the preset for Small Speakers the right one for Headphones?

I am not sure whether I am using the correct preset.

    Ewan,
When it comes to equalizer settings, there really is not right or wrong.
It's a matter of what sounds best to your ears.
That said, the Small Speaker setting boosts the higher frequency and lowers the lower, bass, frequencies. Those setting are probably meant more for small desktop speakers, or your computers built in speakers as opposed to headphones.
I suggest you try out all the presets with your headphones and listen to what makes your music sound best to you. Remember, it all about what sounds best to you.

  • Which Bios is the right one for me? GT70 0nc-494us

hi I just got this laptop but there are 2 options for the bios download page. the w8_E1762IMS.50U.zip or w8_E1762IMS.70U.zip my bio is E1762IMS.50N
Also I cannot update the graphics card from NVidia T_T or run benchmark program it freezes!

The 50U bios is for models which did not have the SuperRaid option.
The 70U bios is for models which did have the SuperRaid option.
Most likely, your model did NOT have the SuperRaid option and you should download the 50U bios.
As far as your video card, it sounds like there's something wrong. But it's kind of hard to say what since you provide little to no information to even begin helping you.

  • Printer Cartridge - the right ones for my HP Laserjet Pro M125nw

I have recently purchased my HP Laserjet Pro M125nw which came loaded with a cartridge CF283A (83A). I have purchased a replacement cartridge - HP original product CF83X ( 83X) wich the company that i purchased it from state on their website that it is compatable with my machine, but appeared to have a larger capacity print volume than the 83A. Although they look almost identical there is a very minor difference and it will not fit into my machine? - Am i doing something wrong or have the retailer mis represented the product? should both these cartridges be compatable with my printer?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

According to the HP SureSupply site only the 83A cartridge is compatible with the Laserjet Pro M125nw.  I would suggest contacting the dealer for a refund or replacement.

  • THIS IS THE RIGHT ONE FOR THE BLUESCREEN (AND NOT THE ONE WITH SPACES!!!!))

    1. Reboot into single-user mode (hold Cmd-S while booting machine)
    2. Follow the directions OSX gives you when you get to the prompt (I think these were them - just type the two commands it tells you to):
    fsck -fy
    /sbin/mount -uw /
    3. Remove the following files:
    rm -rf /Library/PreferencePanes/ApplicationEnhancer.prefpane
    rm -rf /Library/Frameworks/ApplicationEnhancer.framework
    rm -rf /System/Library/SystemConfiguration/ApplicationEnhancer.bundle
    rm -rf /Library/Preferences/com.unsanity.ape.plist
    4. Exit, to continue booting normally
    exit
so thats all but be sure to type ApplicationEnhancer
    instead of Application Enhancer...etc

  • Hostid command shows wrong HOSTID but in NVRAM hostid is the Right one.

    Hello,
I have a SFV890 whith Solaris 8 and Ultra SPARC IV.
We are installing some databases and applications for comunications and monitoring. I dont know how, but now when I try to get de hostid from the machine with "hostid" command, it shows a wrong hostid.
But when the machine startup or from OBP banner command it shows the right hostid from the server, that means hostid in NVRAM is Ok and the right one.
Some licenses we are using ara linked to the hostid number but doesnt work because, the hostid from hostid command it is not the right one for this machine.
Someone knows about this behaivor or how to fix this?
I appreciate your help, pls let me know.
    Sebastian

Boot the machine from other media (network, CD/DVD) to single user and run hostid.
That should give you a clue as to whether the change is in hardware/firmware, or if it's just something in the running system.
