Taking my money for not using it.

I have been lucky in the past that I caught the email that Skype sent me letting me know if I did not use the amount I deposited for Land Line and Cell Phone calls if I did not have activity. So I just placed a quick call to my mother's home and then told her I would call her back on my cell and that took care of it but how sly is it to take your money and you loose it if you do not use it. That I do not think is fair and one reason I do not put more than just a few dollars on my account. Ya it has come in handy in the past bvut to take my money for not using it is just WRONG!!! I think it is a gimic to get you to spend your money and then expect that you will deposit more and do that over and over so they make a larger profit. I think it should be, if you deposit money that it stays in your account until you use it. Sometimes I place Skype calls when I can not get reception on my cell phone. I live in a very rural area. Hee Haw! A one mile, one horse town and over 130 miles to the nearest major city. I am used to living close or in a city. I grew up here and let me tell you small town life is not all that it is cracked up to be. So cell reception can be iffy and every once in a while I have to turn to skype but seems not enough usage for them so they want to take it all. In all normal minded thinking people would agree with me that it's not fair. So after I use up my money that I can not withdraw, It will be pay as I go. Put a dollar or two, just enough to make my call and no more deposits of $20.00's and expecting it to stay there until I am ready to use it. Cearly they do not work that way and there is a time limit that your money can sit in your account before they take it for non usage.

Setup "Messages" For Office Use

Some people at the office have iChat or Messages setup to communicate with eachother.
I want to use Messages (formerly iChat) but not have it tied to my personal info; just for office use. I started a new apple ID for this purpose using my office email. I signed in and I'm not sure how to add "buddies." I don't see a buddies list like I expected from when I used to use iChat years ago. Just a "new message" window. There is a plus button and when I click it it finds emails from my personal account on Apple mail which I do not want to tie to.
I use apple Mail as my mail client and have both my personal and work emails setup on it. However I would like to use "Messages" for work only, so I dont get work related stuff popping up on my iPad at home, etc.
Possible?

We might need to back up a bit here.
Messages adds the iMessages feature of iOS and adds it to what was iChat and renames the app along with some Layout/Interface changes.
In Messages Menu > Preferences > Accounts there are two permanent items.
The iMessages account (Uses an Apple ID which can be removed or Disabled but the account as such awill stay in the list)
and the Bonjour one which can be Enable/disabled but not removed from the List.
You can also have AIM (AOL) based Screen Names (which includes Apple ID issued by Apple - email style which are also Valid), Jabber/Google and Yahoo accounts.
These three accounts can have Buddy Lists (As does the Bonjour account).
You could ...
Enable the Bonjour account.
This then "broadcasts" the My Card Name from your Contacts app and this appears as your Buddy Name in everyone else's Bonjour list.
This requires that all Macs on on the same LAN and have their Bonjour account active in their app (be that iChat or Messages).
Get an account (ID or Screen Name) from one of the services that Messages/iChat supports and enable that.
You may then need to display that Buddy List (Window Menu) and separate out any combined listing (See the General section of the Preferences).
Or you use the iMessages account to those that have iMessages enabled.

Maybe a strange question but let me put it into context.
I'm more specialized in WebCenter than in ADF so i am mostly using ADF to write portlets or taskflows for WebCenter portals.
when you want portlets to talk to each other you can't use PPR because parameters or events need to be put on the PortletRequest and this is only available when you do a full page refresh instead of a PPR. So, when i want to pass the value of the newly selected record in my af:table, the selectionListener needs to invoke a full page submit and not use PPR.
Is this possible?
I'm asking this here and not in the WebCenter forum because i think the ADF specialist will be more likely to give an answer.

Recommended sRGB profile for export - use in browsers

Is there any recommended sRGB profile for use in internet presentation? Below you find the same picture displayed in chrome (left) and internet explorer (right). Colors look quite different, the chrome version appears to be much more natural, the saturation of the ie-version seems to be higher. I know that color management capabilities of different browsers are different. Is there ICC profile recommended that does not show these effects?
The picture was generated using the LR export function. File Format JPEG, Colorspace sRGB.

I see you have a wide gamut monitor...which means the first thing you must learn is to forget IE and deny its very existence . It's useless.
There is only one sRGB, that's not your problem. The problem is IE not converting that sRGB source profile to the monitor profile for display.
They botched it completely with IE. Instead of a normal color management chain - converting source data to your monitor profile - IE converts everything to sRGB and passes that on to the display. What a brilliant idea that was...this way they made absolutely sure, with 100% certainty, that it will never display correctly - especially vividly demonstrated on a wide gamut monitor. Yes, that was sarcasm.
A wide gamut display requires fully color managed software to work as intended. You also need a valid monitor profile for that software to use. These are absolute requirements, no exceptions.
You need a web browser with full color management in all scenarios. The only one that qualifies is Firefox, with color management set to mode 1. This assigns sRGB to all untagged material, honors all embedded profiles, and converts that to your monitor profile for display. No other browser delivers on all counts.

Why block an account simply for not using its cred...

I use Skype every couple of weeks - but I haven't needed to make a paid call for a long time. Now when I try to, I find my account has been 'blocked' - though only for paid calls. So I can't use my credit balance without jumping through Skype's 'account unblocking' hoops and waiting for you to deign to give me access to my own money.
What possibile justification is there for blocking an account like this - not for being abused, but simply for not being used?

Is deleting Contacts & Photos possible - but not using Restore?

For someone using a Mac:
Is there a way of deleting one's Contacts and Photos (data files) without using the Restore Option (which deletes EVERYTHING)?
I click on the iPod icon on my desktop and see a folder for Contacts and a folder for Photos, but within them I can't tell which would be my file for my actual Contacts and which would be the file that runs the Contacts App.
For example, the Contacts folder has 3 files:
ipod created instructions.vcf
ipod created example.vcf
iSync.vcf
Deleting any of these seems like I would be deleting the iPod's OS part of Contacts, not my contacts info.
Photos folder has one file and one folder within:
photodatabase
Thumbs
In my own computer, I would know how to delete my contacts or Photos. You look for those files.
I do not want to delete these files on computer so syncing iPod to computer for that purpose would not work.

Maybe I am missing something, but if you just uncheck sync for Contacts, then your old contacts remain in one's iPod.
Unchecking sync under "Photos," a prompt comes up, asking if you want all your photos removed or not. You have a choice.
But I see no such prompt for Contacts.

I'm using 8SMS as my default messaging app. When I try to share a link, Firefox gives me an error saying that messaging isn't my default app so it can't compose the SMS. Is there a place to change which app Firefox looks for when composing SMS messages?

I am not a professional photographer. I use Aperture to create nice looking photos of family vacations and gatherings. I am not looking to spend a lot of money on plug ins simply because the program does so much already. I wouldn't mind having a few more options of fun little things that I can do to my pictures (either to make them fun and creative or to make them better looking pictures.) Is there any inexpensive or possibly free plug ins that anyone can suggest? Thanks!

Recommended Quicktime settings for web-use

I am preparing a standard definition video ( 640 x 480 )
about 7 minutes long to be used on a website.
Am I alright with H. 264 export as a Quicktime .mov file,
or are there other settings / means of compression that
would be more favorable.
It is an older version of Final Cut - 5.1.4, and I am not seeing
anything for Flash, etc.

Several threads discuss creating h.264, then renaming the file extension to .flv Seems to work for end users who have Flash v.9 or 10.

Possible to not use film rolls?

I don't have many pictures, and have about as many film rolls as pictures! No you don't. In fact you should never enter the iPhoto Library Folder. There are no user serviceable parts there. Just use one of the many ways that iPhoto supplies to access the files. All of them are a: faster and b: safer than rooting around in the folders.
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
*For Users of 10.5 and later*
You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.

Many internet sites such as Flickr and SmugMug have plug-ins for accessing the iPhoto Library. If the site you want to use doesn’t then some, one or any of these will also work:
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. However, if you're using Gmail you can use iPhoto2GMail
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
*If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running*:
For users of 10.6 and later:
You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu. Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and later:
Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
Other options include:
1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
