Is Cinema 4D Lite R14 limited to 800 x 600 render resolution even after activation/registration?

I created a new Cinema 4D scene from within After Effects and discovered that I couldn't make the output resolution larger than 800 x 600. In the rende settings window I get the message:
"Image Resolution: 800 x 600 Pixel - Application license limit of 800x600 pixel"
I realized I hadn't activated/registered yet, so I completed that process but I still get the limitation.
I tried:
Closing C4D and AE, restarting, opening the original .c4d I created before I registered;
Restarting the computer, then reopening the original .c4d in After Effects;
Deleting the original .c4d and creating a new one from After Effects
I still get the output resolution limitation.
I searched for documentation about the limit but didn't find any that referred to C4D Lite, only other demo versions (which had a smaller limit).
Is that a hard limit for C4D Lite R14? Or should I keep banging my head against it?
I tried contacting Maxon from the support email form on their site, but it rejects my serial number (the form asks for the first 11 digits, which includes a hyphen. I tried with the hyphen and it was rejected, I removed the hyphen and aded the next digit to total 11 and it rejected it... it
's like they don't want to hear from me. There's also no selection for the "Lite" version of the program.)
Intel i7 4770K, Asus Maximus VI Formula mobo, 32GB RAM, Asus GTX780Ti video card (nVidia), Windows 8.1, After Effects CC 2014, Cinema 4D Lite R14.
Thanks
-Mike

You can't render larger from C4D Lite, but your AE comp (with the C4D scene) should be able to be whatever size you want. AE renders your C4D scene; you don't render from C4D.

    hi there,
i'm wondering if the majority of people out there no longer
use the 800 x 600 screen resolution anymore. i used to have it

to be 1024 x 768. i know that we have to check our designs to also
accommodate the 800 x 600 viewer, but wondering how common that is
anymore? any thoughts? is it getting to be obsolete?

I disagree. If you are looking to be able to display your
    site without it
scaling and without the user having to scroll, screen
    resolution is vital.
It defines the maximum 'browser viewport size'. The viewable
    browsing area
is of course important - this is generally *less* than the
    screen
resolution, to allow for toolbars etc.

  • IdeaPad 10Se and running software requiring at least 800 x 600 grafic resolution

I have bought an IideaPad 10Se this week with the 1024 x 576 resolution. I have problems installing harwere requiring at least 800 x 600 resolution. I installed my HP writer that requires at least 800 x 600 by attaching an external screen and made only displayed on this screen during installation. That was a fine work-around for installations. Now I have installed a Canoscan 4200f scanner using the same work-arround. Unfortunately the Canoscan Toolbox programme tests the resolution everytime it starts and when it is not up to 600 in vertical resolution it refuse to start. Is there a way to fool programmes that the resolution is 600 in vertical resolution and not just 576? Or how can I solve this problem.

I had a problem installing the Cisco VPN which required at least the 800x600 resolution
to install but not to actually run the software after it was installed.
It seems you can set the resolution to 640x480 using third party software but not
any resolution with more than 576.
FWIW 1024x576 is exactly the 16:9 aspect ration as found in HD TVs.
There is software that won't install and there is software that won't run after it is installed.
I found if I plugged my spare monitor into the VGA port and then used the FN+F3
you can make the external monitor your primary one temporarily. This assumes
the external monitor supports at least 800x600 of course.
Then just install or run your software 800x600 normally.
It's a kludge for the "won't install but will run" type software.

  • Cinema 4D lite R14

I cannot get text from MoGraph menu in Cinema 4D.  Only can get from Spline options.  Then I cannot put color, depth nor do anything with these text.   Whats wrong ?

OK I well created my 3D text.  First added an Extrude NURBS, then I dragged my Spline text into it.

  • Resolution requirement of 800 x 600

    Hi,
I am trying to install my company's VPN so I can remote in...of course. However, I am getting an error stating that a minimum of 800 x 600 screen resolution is required to install the VPN (5.2)(Windows XP Pro SP3)
I have a screen resolution larger than 800 x 600 and yet I always get this error. The app creates the cisco vpn folder and drops a couple of files in it, but does not install the vpn gui exe or any other components.
I have tried every possible remedy that I can think of, and all types of screen resolutions (Windows XP Pro, SP3) with no results.
Is there a known issue out there with a fix?
    Thanks for any help,
    Merid

This same issue occurs when trying to install on Amazon EC2 instances (cloud computing). The installer gives the error:
"To install this product, the system must have a minimum screen resolution of 800x600"
A resolution of 1024x768 was used when this error occurred.
It appears to be that the installer is buggy when used over Remote Desktop Connection.
    Others are having this problem:
    http://developer.amazonwebservices.com/connect/thread.jspa?threadID=27734&tstart=0&messageID=117764
Are there any command line paramters that could be used to by pass this, or just automatically install without the user interaction?

  • Extrude in Cinema 4D lite?

    Hello!
Very excited to be using Cinema 4D Lite and I'm very imprssed with what you get out of the box.
I looked at the side by side table for all the cinema 4d versions and the table says C4D Lite DOES support extruding, but every time I try to extrude a face the quick keys don't work, the menus that a tutorial shows aren't there. Can someone please clarify if I can do this basic modeling task in lite?
    Thank you!

Agreed - Blender is awesome. Looks like this is the best option for users that don't have the full version of C4d. I've been really liking the integration of the two (C4d and  AE) and I do realize that it's a stripped down version of studio, but why take out extrude? Even now while typing this I find it odd that they'd give you the option to modify polygons, but eliminate the ability to extrude one. Guess we're limited to simple shapes. Blender does have it's minor quirks but, for modeling, I find it much more intuitive than Cinema.

  • Element 3D vs. Cinema 4d Lite

With the eventual release of After Effects CS6.5 or CS7 to include integration with Cinema 4d Lite, please discuss the advantages to using the Element 3D plugin. With this upgrade in 3D, is the Element 3D plug in necessary? What are the differences?

I would think C4D can animate too?
Sure you can, but you have no access to the 3D scene data from within AE. It's basically still a 2-step workflow - animate in C4D, use the pre-animated scene to sync with your comp. Matching background plates this way will be a nightmare and is one area where Element can easily scream by C4D Lite/ Cineware. The more elaborate your AE stuff is with lots of effects and expressions, the more it will skew in Element's favor, though of course otehr limitations apply.

  • Want to create glass material in Cinema 4D Lite

    Hi guys!
I need your help, I am trying to create a glass material in cinema 4D Lite to import into After Effects. Lite version is limited on materials, maybe you guys have a tip or trick for this?
    Thank you for your help.

The basic materials are no different from the ones in the "big" C4D. Only some textures and the special 3D materials are missing. Even if they were part of the package, they would not be relevant here. So for the most part it therefore becomes a question of what you have tried so far. have you actually simply played with the transparency options? Downloaded a preset/ sample scene from somewhere? Read up on the matter?

  • Cinema 4d Lite Text Disappearing

    Hi,
All of a sudden my text in Cinema 4D Lite is disappearing. I enter text, make the text a child of the extrude object then place the extrude object with text child into the Fracture Object. Once in the Fracture object the text disappears. I still have the directional arrows for the text, but no text. This has worked on several other text animations I have made, but now will not work.
Anyone have any ideas on what is going wrong?
    Thanks,
    George

Perhaps something to do with the font and the Fracture object not being able to produce clean internal mesh separations. Impossible to know without more info and screenshots of your scene and settings.

If I get the Creative Cloud subscription, because I only have CS.6 right now, does Cinema 4d Lite work in After Effects without the whole Cinema 4d program?

Cinema 4D Lite is a full application and does not rely on previously installed Cinema 4D applications.

  • Cinema 4d Lite Does Not Load

    Hi,
I can't seem to get Cinema 4d Lite to start. Has anyone had this issue? I click the app. It then appears in my dock then disappears after a few moments.
I am on a mac running os x 10.8.4 and have an nvidia 9400M gpu.
    Any help is appreciated.

Never mind. In After effects I need to go to File->Maxon Cinema Maxon Cinema 4d File.
I was using my mac's Finder to launch the cinema 4d lite app. That's the wrong way.

  • AI CC: Import *.AI to Cinema 4D Lite?

Hey guys, have an Illustrator document that I would like to import to Cinema 4D Lite. Launched After Effects and opened a C4D project, dragging the .AI file and C4D says 'Unknown File Format'. What file format should Illustrator Documents be saved to to import into C4D?

The guy obviously uses AI version 8
And: what's in your file? Just basic paths?
Monika I watched that very tutorial before I posted. Tried EPS Rev 3, EPS Rev 8, EPS Rev 17. Document is a single layer Video and Film resolution with a no Fill Stroke pattern.

  • Cinema 4d Lite not recognizing mouse clicks?

Hello everyone. I've been working on a project in After Effects CC and was reading about the integration of Maxon Cinema 4d Lite. I wanted to try to make my 2D diamond into a 3D model and it seemed the perfect application to do so. Unfortunately, whenever I open the program (I've tried through File - New - Maxon Cinema File...and Layer - New - Maxon Cinema File... and even once a file is technically created, I've tried going to "edit original". I've also tried to export something else as a Maxon Cinema file and then importing it to see if it would work), it doesn't work.
Basically, since try #1 the program doesn't seem to be recognizing my mouse clicks. As soon as I click on a menu it goes away. I can hold down the mouse button, but then I can't choose anything on the menu. I've done all the updates on all software, restarted, shut down, cleaned cache, etc. etc. There was one thing that worked, but it only worked for a mouse click at a time! I found that if I found the application file within my program files (C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CC\Support Files\Plug-ins\MAXON CINEWARE AE\(CINEWARE Support)\lite)....if I have Cinema 4d open, and I double click on the .exe file like I'm trying to launch the program, then the program will recognize one mouse click. But if I try to do anything else, it doesn't respond. I could do this all day and night to get my project done but there's GOT to be an easier way!
If anyone has any suggestions, I would gladly give them a try!
Oh, and I'm on a Windows 8.1 64bit computer. If there are any details I didn't include that would be helpful, please let me know. Thank you!

Thank you Mylenium. I wasn't sure what details to provide, but I'll do my best to cover everything you asked about.
As far as the computer, my PC is running Windows 8.1 Pro (64-bit). The hardware is as follows:
         Processor: AMD FX8120 (8-core, 3.10GHz)
         Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX550 Ti
Input Device: Wacom Intuos3 Tablet (using provided mouse, not pen while using C4D)
Memory: 16 GB usable (have 32 installed but haven't spent the time to figure out how to get it all to work with Windows 8)
Screen Resolution: on Monitor #1 (HDMI) and Monitor #2 (Analog) it is set to the recommended 1920 x 1080
I managed to be able to get in to the Preferences within C4d somehow and these are the things I thought might be pertinent:
OpenGL settings: it IS turned ON (Linear, Anti-Alias = 4, Max transparency = 2, Max Lights = 8, Max Shadows = 2, and Use Shader Cache is checked)
Memory settings: the cache is defaulted to the C drive. I set my cache in AE to the B drive, which I would prefer but I C4d won't let me change this at the moment)
Input Devices: PSR Cursor = False, Tool Cursor = true, Mouse Move Activation = True, Graphics Tablet = False, Hi-Res Tablet = True, Open Commander Dialog on Mouse Position = True
I'm thinking the fact that the Graphics tablet is unchecked in C4d might be the issue? I can try to change it with the trick I originally mentioned, but let me know if there is anything else you see that you think might help. Did I miss anything? I really appreciate it! Thank you.

  • Cinema 4d Lite crashes in AE CC, Windows

Whenever I try to use Cinema 4d Lite, I can get to the application, but cannot make any changes without crashing. I have tried either creating a file using File>New>Maxon Cinema 4d file, or creating a 3d comp in AE, exporting to Cinema 4d Lite, importing it, and going to Edit>Edit original. For example, when I create a new Cinema 4d file, if I try to create a rectangle, I see the rectangle appear, but then the application is frozen (spinning teal circle forever). If I try to edit original file, the Cinema 4d application opens, but it is frozen.
I am on Windows 7 Professional, on an HP Z800 Workstation with 40 GB RAM, 64 bit Operating System. NVIDIA Quadro 4000 graphics card.

Thanks for your answer. However, I checked my Open GL capabilities and got this readout:It looks like Open GL should be working.
