Is Ciniform still the way to go for editing HD on Premiere CS4?

I may have a opportunity to edit an inde film shot in on P2 HD 1080p. However, i have a few questions....
0. can Premiere CS4 read and edit MXF files?
1. I'm not sure if my Premiere CS4 system will handle it natively without using an intermediate codec like Ciniform. The files have already been transfered to an external drive which i will then transfer to my systems' video drive. The following is my current system configuration:
. Premiere CS4
. Windows 7 x64
. 12gb of DDR3 ram
. Intel 920 quad core processor
. 1tb (2x500gb) video drive
. 1tb (2x500gb) storage drive.
2. The client is not sure the frame rate the video was shot in, either 24p or 59p. Is there a way to determine the correct frame rate so i can select the proper preset in premiere? I may be able to use VLC to view the codec information.

Can you tell me how exactly are you testing your scenario? Is it through RWB --> Test Tab?? or is it an end to end test involving Sender and Receiver.
If you ever face any error in SAP PI during Test you can do the following:
1. Check SXI_MONITOR to see if your message has failed there, you can read the error in the trace level of the message.
2. For monitoring your message you can use Runtime Workbench where you can goto Message Monitoring and check at which level the message has failed (Adapter as well Integration Engine level). There is tab called "Detail" which when clicked after selecting your message will give you the details of the processing of your message.
3. Sometimes it may happen that everything is succesful at Integration Engine level but message has failed at adapter engine level. In this case check your Receiver communication channel which will be in error and will give you the details of the error.

I have the same question. It seems that Adobe is almost impossible to contact (I ended up here at the forums to ask the same question).
I will never buy another Adobe product again if I can get another program to replace it. If this is customer service then it is NON EXISTENT!
I notice that your question has not been answered and why should you have to get the information from a forum? I know of no other company that makes you do this for simple product information.
NOT HAPPY with this version of arrogant customer service (nor am I happy about renting Photoshop products into the future - it is just a money grab in my opinion). I will be voting with my feet and going elsewhere in future.

Make sure that you have no active I/O markers on the Timeline (use Option X keys to clear them).

I've parsed the prproj/xml file (ungzip), with python I found the title "Media", I decompresse, decode, utf-16 etc...
I change my title and recollapse my xml title.
Now, Adobe block me for editing the BinaryHash ??
Well, you (adobe) compresse the title definition with base64, add a binaryHash, but doesn't give acces to the hashing format ???
You don't provide any reference for playing with jsx, C++ pluggin is little too big for me and i'm not sur you give a big control for all the premierepro function.

There are no such functions available, and we neither support nor recommend you parsing our project files.
[They're .gz compressed, by the way.]
However...Titles are contained in .prtl files, which contain XML describing the title.
I'll bet you have no problem figuring out how the text strings, and other settings, are stored in the .prtl file.

If you're going to update the book each year I suggest you follow this tutorial to save the book in it's own library. That isolates it from the day to day library which could experience problems resulting in loss of project, i.e. the book: iP12 - Archiving an iPhoto 9 (11) Book for Editing and/or Ordering at a Later Date
The book library is often small enough that it can be copied to a CD or DVD for off computer backup.

What is the BEST file format for editing HD in CS5?

We are building a remote production truck and it will be tapeless with all hard disk video recording. We have not decided on what brand of disk based recording system we are getting.
I am looking for opinions of what the most ideal file format to capture in HD for editing in CS5? What is the highest quality yet fastest and most efficient for editing basic 1080i30 or 1080p30 video for broadcast?
There are so many devices that capture quicktime but quicktime is crippled to 32bit in windows and we want to avoid it.

I'm sorry i guess i didn't mean to confuse you with the word "capture" in that question. there are
tons of hard disk based recording systems out there that "capture" our video to a disk into a file we can import into premiere and edit.
This will be a live production truck, video will come out of our production switcher SDI into some companies recording device which will have a plethora of codec choices to record with. We want to choose a product that will give us files that will work best in premiere CS5 with gtx460 gfx cards and matrox axio le hardware. Just wanted to see if anyone who has edited various codecs has noticed if any seem to work faster and better then others.
there are many companies we are looking at that make such disk based recorders including nnovia,aja,panasonic/p2, fast forward, etc...
i want to avoid quicktime and am more interested in mpeg4, or mpeg4 part10 (h264), or p2, omf, mxf are possibilities, any opinions?

Laptop for editing with Adobe Premiere & After Effects CS6

Hi, I'm just started a company working with young people, and I need a laptop for editing some videos (short films/music videos).
I was looking at a cheap laptop to be able to run Adobe Premiere and After Effects smoothly. I was told that this laptop would run smoothly:

You have to be from another world to believe these requirements. Note the last optional statement. Up to and including CS4 this stated:

Nobody in his right mind believes that system requirements get lower over time. It is purely a marketing lie to artificially lure prospective buyers.
The requirement to have two physical disks for CS6 is bogus.
If anything is bogus, it is the system requirements from Adobe and only fools would try to use a system with these minimum requirements, like this:
Pentium 4 with 4 GB of RAM, 24.5 GB of hard disk space is enough according to them.
Harm is confusing editing with getting high PPBM scores, I am afraid - again. Not all projects have 10 layers of H.264 stacked with heavy effects for two hours straight. The vast majority of editing is simple transitions and effects with 10 minutes of YouTube encoding twice a week.
Wrong assumption. I was thinking of a simple DV timeline with one single track. And however much you dislike the PPBM benchmark, it is the only available tool to show how well a system is setup and in balance. Question: Is your dislike of the benchmark based on the fact that your favorite HP Z820 does not do well?

External TTF Font Embedding, is this still the way?

I'm a typical embedder. I just embed the fonts, register them from another file and be done with it. Though I'm starting to desire to embed some ranges and also use test loading external .ttf files.
What is the best practice for embedding an external TTF at runtime? Is it still basically like this? Anything more modern? I find most blog posts on the subject range in the 2007 area.

Thanks I was just curious if it was such an old topic on the net because it never changed syntax. So it remains the same way to this day a few years later.
I also know you can embed ranges using the font manager in CS5 or CS5.5 and that's what I'm doing now. I'm just wondering if there's any advantage to embedding external .ttf files. One of which could be naming the font something generic both in the code and the filename itself like font.ttf and being able to change the font externally without recompiling the SWF. I was considering options such as that.

I have been reading around and learning that Google is not supporting Exchange accounts for ios7 any longer. I believe they still work if you previously used them. But I've also had some trouble with syncing elements of this account to my iPad.
Is it recommended to use Google accounts instead of Exchange with the iPad/iPhone?

The down side of Google is that you cannot change colors of calendars (and I have a few that are obscuring each other). That's the main reason I am syncing to both at once (or rather to the obstinate calendars).
I'd love to find a way to get all cals to sync via exchange, but they won't, above all my main personal google calendar. They work fine on the iPhone, just not on the iPad since I deleted the account and reinstalled it.
