Is classroom training mandatory for RAC and EBS Certification?

Hi All,
Is classroom training Mandatory to get RAC Certification? (RAC on 11g Database)
Is classroom training Mandatory to get EBS Certification? (R12)
If yes, then what is the cost for this...
Please help
Thanks

I an remember this off the top of my head ...
For practical purposes the answer is yes.
- either ou would have had to have taken the associated training course ...
- or you would have had to be an 11g DBA OCP (and training is required for that unless you certified a long while ago as a 7(8?) DBA OCP before the requirement and have upgraded become 11g DBA OCP by upgrades)
Is classroom training Mandatory to get EBS Certification? (R12)
I cant remember / don;t know this off my head.
But Oracle's websire tells you:
Visit http://certification.oracle.com
Locate you certification ... and mandatory training will be detailed there.
The required training courses are detailed.
If yes, then what is the cost for this...http://education.oracle.com will give details of training courses and costs for your country.

Is a gateway mandatory for RAC installation, general on RAC environment?
    *..when yes, why?*
    Many thanks
I make this test with my only one RAC node
    1. Run with gateway:

By default, the server's default gateway is used as a ping target during the Oracle RAC 10g VIP status check action.
Upon a ping failure, Oracle will decide that the current interface where the VIP is running has failed, and will initiate
an interface / internode VIP failover.
In above case, we used just one node for CRS installation, so the VIP coudn't failover to other nodes and thus reported additional error like :
CRS-1006: No more members to consider
CRS-0215: Could not start resource 'ora.dbtest2.vip'.
    Try ->
A parameter FAIL_WHEN_DEFAULTGW_NOT_FOUND in the file
    $ORA_CRS_HOME/bin/racvip to address this problem.
The following steps will fix the VIP starting problem for above mentioned scenario.
    1- stop nodeapps
    2- As root,
vi the script $ORA_CRS_HOME/bin/racgvip and change the value of
    variable FAIL_WHEN_DEFAULTGW_NOT_FOUND=0 .
3- start nodeapps and you should see the resources ONLINE
You may proceed with netca and dbca to create a RAC database after this.

    Hi Preeti,
please first understand the difference between a subject (your header) and its body line, please never write so long subject matter.
Now coming to your queries , what you thinks being at Australia or US is free of Cost. The first thing is that i don't understand your mission for taking Certifications, Are you a working proffesional because for more than 2 yrs. of working experience, you don't need any training , you can take direct examinations.
And if you are not a working professional, i don't thing taking any certification will serve any purpose in your job hunt, although it will enrich your Resume only, you will nothing get out of this from just taking a vertification
So, please tell us that you are a fresher or having real time working exposure in SAP SD module, then any one will guide you well.

  • Remove PR Mandatory for PO and Assign new PO Layout to one User

    Hi Experts,
I want to remove PR mandatory for PO and assign new PO Layout for one User. I am facing following problem.
    1. I have already created a function authorisation Z1 with reference to PR and assign the same in SU01, Paramenter EFB - Z1.
Now I have removed ref to purchase requisition tick and assign new PO layout in Z1.
But ref to PR not removed, and new po layout is not coming.
    What should I do.
    Thanks in advance.
    GR

why dont u assign the new PO screen layout to the PO document type thru spro-mmpurchasingpo-define document type---here assign ur new field selection with the PO document type coz whatever the screen layout of PO comes while processing me21n,it comes due to the field selection present here as per my knowledge.

  • ASM Quorum Failgroup Setup is Mandatory for Normal and High Redundancy?

    Hi all,
Since I have worked with version 11.2 I had a concept about Quorum Failgroup and its purpose, now reading the documentation 12c I'm  confuse about some aspect and want your views on this subject.
    My Concept About Quorum Failgroup:
The Quorum Failgroup was introduced in 11.2 for setup with Extended RAC and/or for setup with Diskgroups that have only 2 ASMDISK using Normal redundancy or 3 ASMDISK using High redundancy.
But if we are not using Extended RAC and/or have a Diskgroup Normal Redundancy with 3 or more ASMDISK  or Diskgroup High Redundancy with 5 or more ASMDISK the use of Quorum Failgroup is optional, most like not used.
    ==============================================================================
Documentation isn't clear about WHEN we must to use Quorum Failgroup.
    https://docs.oracle.com/database/121/CWLIN/storage.htm#CWLIN287
7.4.1 Configuring Storage for Oracle Automatic Storage Management
      2. Choose the Oracle ASM redundancy level to use for the Oracle ASM disk group.
Except when using external redundancy, Oracle ASM mirrors all Oracle Clusterware files in separate failure groups within a disk group. A quorum failure group, a special type of failure group, contains mirror copies of voting files when voting files are stored in normal or high redundancy disk groups. If the voting files are in a disk group, then the disk groups that contain Oracle Clusterware files (OCR and voting files) have a higher minimum number of failure groups than other disk groups because the voting files are stored in quorum failure groups.
A quorum failure group is a special type of failure group that is used to store the Oracle Clusterware voting files. The quorum failure group is used to ensure that a quorum of the specified failure groups are available. When Oracle ASM mounts a disk group that contains Oracle Clusterware files, the quorum failure group is used to determine if the disk group can be mounted in the event of the loss of one or more failure groups. Disks in the quorum failure group do not contain user data, therefore a quorum failure group is not considered when determining redundancy requirements in respect to storing user data.
As mentioned in documentation above, I could understand that in ANY diskgroup that use Normal or High Redundancy MUST have a Quorum failgroup. (does not matter what setup)
In my view, if a Quorum Failgroup is used to ENSURE that a quorum of the specified failure groups are available, then we must use it, in other words is mandatory.
What's your view on this matter?
    ==============================================================================
    Another Issue:
Suppose the following scenario (example using NORMAL Redundancy).
    Example 1
Diskgroup Normal Redundancy  with 3 ASMDIKS.
    DSK_0000  - FG1 (QUORUM FAILGROUP)
    DSK_0001  - FG2 (REGULAR FAILGROUP)
    DSK_0002  - FG3 (REGULAR FAILGROUP)
The ASM will allow create only one Quorum Failgroup, and two Regular Failgroup ( a failgroup to each asm disk)
Storing Votedisk on this diskgroup the all three asmdisk will be used one votedisk in each asm disk.
Storing OCR on this diskgroup the two Regular Failgroup will be used, only one OCR and primary extents and  mirror of its extents accross two failgroup. (quorum failgroup will not be used to OCR)
    Example 2
Diskgroup Normal Redundancy  with 5 ASMDIKS.
    DSK_0000  - FG1 (REGULAR FAILGROUP)
    DSK_0001  - FG2 (REGULAR FAILGROUP)
    DSK_0002  - FG3 (QUORUM FAILGROUP)
    DSK_0003  - FG4 (QUORUM FAILGROUP)
    DSK_0004  - FG5 (QUORUM FAILGROUP)
The ASM will allow create up to three Quorum Failgroup, and two Regular Failgroup.
Storing Votedisk on this diskgroup the all three QUORUM FAILGROUP will be used. REGULAR FAILGROUP will not be used.
Storing OCR on this diskgroup the two Regular Failgroup will be used, only one OCR and primary extents and  mirror of its extents accross two failgroup. (none quorum failgroup will not be used to OCR).
This right here below is confuse to me.
    https://docs.oracle.com/database/121/CWLIN/storage.htm#CWLIN287
7.4.1 Configuring Storage for Oracle Automatic Storage Management
      2. Choose the Oracle ASM redundancy level to use for the Oracle ASM disk group.
The quorum failure group is used to determine if the disk group can be mounted in the event of the loss of one or more failure groups.
Normal redundancy: For Oracle Clusterware files, a normal redundancy disk group requires a minimum of three disk devices (two of the three disks are used by failure groups and all three disks are used by the quorum failure group) and provides three voting files and one OCR and mirror of the OCR. When using a normal redundancy disk group, the cluster can survive the loss of one failure group. For most installations, Oracle recommends that you select normal redundancy disk groups.
High redundancy:  For Oracle Clusterware files, a high redundancy disk group requires a minimum of five disk devices (three of the five disks are used by failure groups and all five disks are used by the quorum failure group) and provides five voting files and one OCR and two mirrors of the OCR. With high redundancy, the cluster can survive the loss of two failure groups.
    Documentation says:
minimum of three disk devices:  two of the three disks are used by failure groups and all three disks are used by the quorum failure group for normal redundancy.
minimum of five disk devices: three of the five disks are used by failure groups and all five disks are used by the quorum failure group for high redudancy.
    Questions :
    What this USED mean?
How the all disk are USED by quorum failgroup?
This USED mean used to determine if the disk group can be mounted?
How Quorum Failgroup determine if a diskgroup can be mounted, what is the math?
    Consider following scenery:
Diskgroup Normal Redundancy with 3 ASM Disks. (Two Regular failgroup and One Quorum Failgroup)
If we lost the Quorum failgroup group. We can mount that diskgroup using force option.
If we lost one Regular failgroup group. We can mount that diskgroup using force option.
We can't lost two Failgroup at same time.
If I don't use Quorum failgroup (i.e only Regular Failgroup) the result of test is the same.
I see no difference between use Quorum Failgroup and only Regular Failgroup on this matter.
    ======================================================================================
    When Oracle docs says:
one OCR and mirror of the OCR for normal redundancy
one OCR and two mirrors of the OCR for high redundancy
What this means is we have ONLY ONE OCR File and mirror of its extents, but oracle in documentation says 1 mirror of OCR (normal redundancy) and 2 mirror of OCR (high redudancy).
What is sound like? a single file or two or more files ?
Please don't confuse it with ocrconfig mirror location.

    Hi Levi Pereira,
Sorry for the late answer. And as per 12c1 documentation, yes you are right, only the VD will be placed on the quorum fail groups:
The redundancy level that you choose for the Oracle ASM disk group determines how Oracle ASM mirrors files in the disk group, and determines the number of disks and amount of disk space that you require. If the voting files are in a disk group, then the disk groups that contain Oracle Clusterware files (OCR and voting files) have a higher minimum number of failure groups than other disk groups because the voting files are stored in quorum failure groups.
Managing Oracle Cluster Registry and Voting Files
Regarding your question "I want answer about is mandatory to use Quorum Failgroup when use Normal or High Redundancy?" No it isn't, I have a normal redundancy diskgroup that I store VD with no Quorum Failgroup, indeed, it would prevent you to store data on the disks within this kind of failgroup as per the documentation:
A quorum failure group is a special type of failure group that is used to store the Oracle Clusterware voting files. The quorum failure group is used to ensure that a quorum of the specified failure groups are available. When Oracle ASM mounts a disk group that contains Oracle Clusterware files, the quorum failure group is used to determine if the disk group can be mounted if there is a loss of one or more failure groups. Disks in the quorum failure group do not contain user data, therefore a quorum failure group is not considered when determining redundancy requirements in respect to storing user data.
Managing Oracle Cluster Registry and Voting Files
And as per the documentation, my answer are with red color:
Could you explain what documentation meant:
minimum of three disk devices:  two of the three disks are used by failure groups and all three disks are used by the quorum failure group for normal redundancy.
how all three disk are used by the quorum failgroup? [I don't think this is correct, sounds a bit strange and it is the opposite for what is right before...]
    Regards.

  • Directory Setup for RAC and Oracle Restart

I have three database installations that I'd like some insight on the initial directory structure and permissions. The three installations are:
    1) Prod RAC - OEL 5U2, 11.2.0.2 Grid Infrastructure, 11.2.0.2 DB EE with RAC option
    2) Test RAC - OEL 5U2, 11.2.0.2 Grid Infrastructure, 11.2.0.2 DB EE with RAC option
    3) Single Instance - OEL 5U2, 11.2.0.2 Grid Infrastructure Standalone (Oracle Restart), 11.2.0.2 DB EE
The they all have two users GRID (for Grid Infrastructure Software Owner) and ORACLE (for Oracle Database Software Owner).
We had a consultant install the databases. It's very weird since we have an inconsistency in directories and permission. I want to understand the inconsistency between RAC installations as well as Oracle Restart Install.
SEE BELOW: The two RAC servers have different owners for /u01/app/11.2.0.2 directory. The Oracle Restart Installation - Single Instance has the same owner as Prod RAC but different than Test RAC. What the consultant said was that ORACLE_BASE would be /u01/app/oracle for both Grid Infrastructure and Database installations. This was to apply to TEST/PROD RAC (3 node, 3 instances, 1 instance/node) and Oracle Restart installation. The GRID_HOME would be /u01/app/11.2.0.2/grid and ORACLE_HOME would be /u01/app/11.2.0.2/db_1. It seems like the owners aren't setup correctly. Why? I don't want problems with patching or upgrading. If this setup is technically incorrect what is the best way to setup so there's no owner/permission issues. Is it necessary to have two separate ORACLE_BASE's like /u01/app/grid?

    Hello
I did only check prod, as that is the important one.
i am afraid that setup is not clean. I won't use the work is wrong, but need to be normalized.
grid oracle base need to be separate from oracle oracle base, and the grid oracle home, MUST be outside of oracle base/oracle home of the oracle user.
In a multi user setup, the structure should be as follow.
grid user, group oinstall, asm* groups
oracle user, group oinstall, dba and db* groups
The GRID install, have, grid home and oracle base
the oracle base for grid should be, /u01/app/grid
the grid home should be, /u01/app/11.2.0.3/grid
the Oracle user have several homes, and oracle base
the oracle base for oracle should be, /u01/oracle
so, for permissions, when I create this, i do as root
    mkdir -p /u01/app/11.2.0.3/grid
    mkdir -p /u01/app/grid
    mkdir -p /u01/app/oracle
    mkdir -p /u01/app/oraInventory
    chown -R grid:oinstall /u01
    chown -R oracle:oinstall /u01/app/oracle
then, you install grid .. you have so say oracle home is /u01/app/grid and oracle home is /u01/app/11.2.0.3/grid
at the end, the root.sh as part of the install will take care of the permissions for oraInventory, and the rest for grid.
when grid is installed, you can move to the oracle db install you use oracle base as /u01/app/oracle and oracle home as /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0.3/dbhome_1
    that will give you

  • Tnsnames configuration for RAC and dataguard

    Hi everyone,
I have an environment with RAC and dataguard (production is RAC, standby is single instance) and I was wondering what is the best way to configure the clients (since I have quite a few and I don't want to change their tnsnames if I need to failover to the standby database).
Now, I need to have both RAC nodes of course, the question is what I should do with the standby...
    The problems are:
    1. If I add the standby as another address, 1/3 of the connections will get to it and I don't think it's a good idea
    2. I can disable the load_balance, but then all connections will go to the first node's listener
    3. After a failover, if the RAC nodes are down, it will take a long time to connect (the servers will not respond and the client will wait for timeout if it tries to connect to the RAC nodes first, only after the timeout it will try the standby and succeed)
Any ideas and suggestions will be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Liron

    Hi Robert,
I agree that the standby should be up, but you have to admit that if it is down it should not delay connections to the primary...
About the DNS, it's not that I don't trust the SA, but this is an environment for a customer so it should be as independent as it can be. So the failover process will be easy and fast. I don't know if I can get DNS permissions, but that's a good idea...
A question that can be derived from this:
assuming that I use observer to have an automatic failover, how should I configure my TNS? If the standby will become the primary automatically, I have to configure the clients to connect to the activated standby automatically. With no DNS changes or anything manual.
I guess in this case, my best option will be with LOAD_BALANCE=off, some of the clients will have RAC-NODE1 as first address and some will have RAC-NODE2, the standby will be the last address and we'll suffer the timeout if the primary will be down when connecting to the activated standby.
If anyone has other ideas, it would be great.
    Thanks,
    Liron

  • Is training mandatory for these two certifications?

    Hallo!
I am planning to take 1Z0-803 exam to obtain Oracle Certified Associate, Java SE 7 Programmer certification before the end of July and 1Z0-047 to become Oracle Database: SQL Certified Expert possibly by the end of the year. But I have just learned that some developer's certifications now require training. Does it apply to these two as well, or I can just pass the exams to get certified?
    Thank you!
    Edited by: user7774225 on 20.06.2012 4:46

both Oracle Certified Associate, Java SE 7 Programmer and Oracle Database: SQL Certified Expert doesn't require official Oracle training. For SQL Expert there is a study guide released and for Java SE 7 Programmer I there will be End of 2012 a study guide on the market.

  • Some thoughts on the dearth of training materials for the new MCSE certifications

Mostly this is venting... while it would be nice to see some remediation, I have no such expectations.
Given that Windows Server 2012 was GA 15 months ago, I'm severely disappointed at the lack of published training guides targeted to the MCSA and MCSE certifications (most notably the 70-413 and 70-414), and specifically with respect to the objectives involving
System Center that are included in those examinations.
I used the Exam Ref by Steve Suehring, and frankly was quite disappointed, although I'm not sure whether to blame the book, or the question pool on the exam. What I did observe was that a significant percentage of the concepts discussed in the Exam Ref book,
and ostensibly in the objectives for the exam, were not actually touched at all by the exam. More significantly, I encountered concepts on the exam that were not even mentioned in the Exam Ref. Presumably the Training Guide (700 pages) will go into much more
detail (e.g. the exam I encountered seemed very heavy with respect to Active Directory Site design), but it won't be available until April (at the earliest).
Further, there's nothing available in the realm of preparation materials for the 70-414. The Exam Ref was supposed to be available in September 2013. (The O'Reilly site says March 2014, but the MS Exam Page is not yet updated.) Who knows when it
will really be available, and I don't even see a mention of an actual Training Guide for this exam.
Adding insult to injury, I bought into the special last spring to take the -417, -413, and -414 (which expires tomorrow), and have been unsuccessful at passing the -413 (due to the poor prep materials) and didn't even consider the -414 (due to the non-existent
prep materials).  Frankly, I feel very ripped off -- (And if the actual questions on the -413 compared to the Exam Ref are any guide, I'm not particularly encouraged by the eventual availability of the -414 Exam Ref.)
I do see where there's still a discount package available (including 2nd shots) for the MCSE: Server Infrastructure ($255 for both exams plus 2nd shots), available until May 31, 2014-- and expire on December 31, 2014. I think I'll wait until May and see
if [a] the -413 Training Guide gets published and [b] what the "master plan" will be for training for the -414.
Btw.. it seems the prospects are no better for the MCSE: Private Cloud exams either.

For post-production and audio work, having a quieter computer is one of the reasons I ordered a Mac Pro - quieter is good. And as my MDD dual 867Mhz is now as long in the tooth as I am, it couldn't come at a better time. I was really contemplating buying a quad G5 the past 6 months, but then heard the professional desktop would come out during the developer's conference, and I'm glad I waited. The price is absolutely - and insanely - great. Mine should be here on the 15th, and I'll be counting the hours. As for the risers, I'm willing to endure a few nanoseconds as a trade-off.

  • Training suggestions for RAC course

I would like to take a training course in Oracle Real Application Clusters. I previously took a 10g Admin I course with Oracle University in NYC, and it was okay, but the cost was quite high: $3000 USD for five days. They also offer a RAC course, but this is even more expensive: $3750 for five days!
I'd like to know of any quality alternatives in the United States, especially at a lower cost. I've found a few courses that seem to be good, but they cater to larger groups and on-site training.
Perhaps this isn't the best venue for such a question, but I hope that Oracle will understand someone in my position, looking for quality training at a reasonable cost.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Thanks, all, for your helpful comments.
Trubix seemed promising, but they haven't posted a new course in almost a year.
TUSC also seems promising. They're next scheduled RAC course is in July of this year.
Also found what looks like a good tutorial on RAC via VMware here:
    http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/10g/OracleDB10gR2RACInstallationOnCentos4UsingVMware.php
Please let me know of any others that are as good or better.
I read that Oracle permits only their own courses for "hands-on credit" toward certification, but I'm not sure what that means, as I thought you needed only to pass their test to be certified. Is this true?
    Thanks again.

  • Is there a training program for iCloud and how to use it effectively.  I have downloaded the booklet but not sure how I access files, photos saved on iCloud.

I am trying to understand cloud but have very little information for a non technical person.  Is there any product that I can access that will provide me with step by step details on how to access things stored in Icloud.  I have recenly lost all my data on my external hard drive and thought that I could restore through icloud.

It doesn't matter whick account you use to download the app.
You have to sign into the app (or iCloud.com from a web browser on your computer) with his Apple ID & password.
Find My iPhone will only work if it was enabled in the iCloud settings on the device and it was powered on with a connection to the internet

In general, I am silent reader and admirer of some of the people's knowledge in this forum. But I couldn't resist posting this message seing some immature posts like these.
I don't understand what you guys are talking about. You all want the training material mailed to you?Do you know the basic condition under which SAP provides the material to the people participating in the training?
Come on, give me a break.Asking for the material is one thing and using a public forum like this to make the request is another thing.
Grow up guys, I don't know why the moderator is kind enough to allow such requests in the first place.May be he is too busy and didn't get enough time to lock these kind of messages.
Please keep up the dignity and sanctity of these forums which is really helpful for some serious guys.I have been certified in XI 3.0.But I really didn't take any help from the training material, even though I have it.
A little bit of hands on exposure and a lot of reading the help documentation, the various bolgs from this forum from some brilliant people had helped me.
SAP training material is only a minute part of the whole thing.
Hope common sense and maturity prevails while posting to these forums.
    Sincerly.
