Is Collaboration manager disappeared in UCM 11g ?

Collaboration Manager component seems to be disappeared in UCM 11g. Anybody has news about this module ?

Judging by this statemet from the Services Reference (2-1) I would say that Collaboration Manager is dead.
The core services are still supported but I guess it is no longer available
"The CollaborationManager component and its services have been removed
because the product is not supported in 11g Release 1 (11.1.1). Core collaboration
services have been moved to the Core Services chapter."
Of course the only real truth has to come from product management or license sales.

CollabManager is no more available for UCM 11g onwards . The 10g component will not be compatible with 11g ucm and thats the reason why you are seeing all the images distorted and not right. I guess you should take a look at Frameworks Folder which looks like it will be able to offer the same (not tested yet by me) features as available with Collab Manager .

How to use RelatedContent component with UCM 11g without Records Management

As the subject really...
I have been playing around with UCM 11g and want to use the RelatedContent component in isolation of URM / Records management.
Can I still do this, and is it supported.
I have had a look at advanced component manager and also the RMFC page but if I select a custom install with only related content I get a whole bunch of RM related stuff in the interface that I do not need.
Any suggestions? Is the old RelatedContent component supported directly on 11g?

Hi,
First this post is really helpful as I was looking around for enabling related content component in ucm11g.
Now i am able to see it in my enabled component lists.
However , i have one doubt. I have enabled the component and restarted the server. After that if i got the checkin page, i can see only 'wwxRelatedContentTriggerDate' metadata for the related content. My assumption was when I enable the component, i will get a metadata on the content check in page to link to the other content items.
So can you please help me
1) to help whether my understanding is correct?
2) if yes, why am i not getting the metadata to specify the other contents is not shown? what I need to do for the same?

Collaboration features in UCM 11g

I have a requirement where I need to implement collaboration on a content in UCM
11g.Users will be able to provide comments on a content which I need to show in
the content info page.
I want to know the best possible way to achieve this.Is any out of box component
available for this?

There are several levels how to achieve that:
1. the simplest one is using a metadata field - there is one called Comment. The obvious disadvantage is that it has limited length (2K characters), and users may overwrite comments of the others
2. a more advanced, and I believe it could be sufficient to your needs, is using discussions (Threaded Discussion component). You may find details about this component here: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/doc.1111/e10797/c04_working_with_files.htm#CSUSG884
3. even more advanced, but need additional licenses, is creation of context-aware comments (mark-ups), often to non-editable formats. The advantage of that approach is that a user is able to place his or her comment directly in the place where the comment is relevant. UCM is integrated with AutoVue, an Oracle application, which is capable of that. Also, OnTrack (renamed to Oracle Social Network) has this feature, and I believe in the future this is probably the direction to go.

Node Manager not starting UCM Server automatically

Hi All,
I have configured Node Manager to start and stop UCM 11g server.
But whenever, I am restarting the host OS - Windows server 2003 64 bit, it does not start the UCM managed server, automatically.
I am running two managed servers on the same host OS, the first UCM manages server, starts automatically on every restart.
The second managed UCM server, does not start. I need to then manually start the managed server. There are no errors logged, and the manual start of the managed server happens without any issues.
As a workaround, I tried starting the managed server from Windows scheduler, but it does not start the server as well. I wrote a script like -
Myscript.cmd
call E:\..\user_projects\domains\prod_domain\bin\setDomainEnv.cmd
java weblogic.WLST c:\start....\ServerStart.py
scheduled the script (myscript.cmd) to run from the Windows Scheduler.
Any pointers would be very helpful. Are there any known issues, if there are two managed servers, and one starts automatically, which affects the starting of the second managed server?
I see the following error in the log file -

Give a cross check to your ServerStart.py
As the error states The server name PRD_UCM_Server1 specified with -Dweblogic.Name does not exist
In your ServerStart.py you might have specified as follows
sh start MAnagedWeblogic.sh server=PRD_UCM_Server1
While these are the list of Server you have in your weblogic
PRDAdminServer,
PRD_UCM_server1,(You have Specified in your command PRD_UCM_Server1
PRD_IBR_server1
The Command should be as follows
sh start ManagedWeblogic.sh server=PRD_UCM_server1

Oracle UCM 11g Vs Oracle UCM10g

I want to know the difference between Oracle UCM11g and Oracle UCM10g.
1. Whats the primary benefit for the client for chosing Oracle UCM 11g than Oracle UCM 10g.
2. Whats are all the changes added in UCM11g from customization perspective.
- Is Component Architecture is followed in UCM 11g
- Is IdocScript/Resource ,Template,Service,Service Handler,Filter are still exist and customization is possible through them?

biggest differences
1. You need WebLogic for 11g. 11g UCM runs as a java application inside of WLS.
2. WLS handles all security. UCM no longer controls security. There are NO local users (except for running the stand alone apps) anymore. All users are outside in a AD or LDAP store of some kind.
Ramifications:
1. For large enterprise systems the clustering and management available for WLS make a system extremely scalable.
2. Any beneficial properties of WLS now apply to UCM (there are many but I am not a WLS expert)
3. if UCM is all you need and you are not planning a clustered system and your hardware is not the most current.... then maybe 10 g is a better choice. Maybe.
4. Customization for the CS is unchanged, but things like security being different will break some customizations. As with any upgrade some includes and some resources change and thus break an existing component. Test custom components fully.

Information Architecure for UCM 11g/WebCenter PS4

Can anyone share their info architecture findings for UCM/11g and WebCenter PS4 e.g. security model, metadata model, taxonomy approach for managing group spaces. I'm keen to hear if you've put a info governance structure around the content for example - and if so - how did you form it? Where did your security model stope e.g. at Group Space level, or did you have to consider the confidential nature of documents within folders in the group space. Have you add additional metadata fields to help with search?

Wll, it's quiet easy. Webcenter is designed to handle services. UCM is also complettly service oriented so you could create a webapplication with webcenter where you define services from UCM and create your own user interface.
It's nothing more than the fact that webcenter can handle services (WSDL, SOAP).
You could create a site without siteStudio, using webcenter. Nothing wrong with that but don't forget that siteStudio has lots of tools that are great for UCM like the contributor mode. Also, the fragments that are allready build in in siteStudio give a big advantage. If you want to create these things in zebcenter, you'll have to start from scratch.
I do believe Oracle is working on an portal like interface to create portlets and stuff, perhaps they will create some tools special for the use of UCM and webcenter. This offcourse would be very nice

!csComponentDataNotFound, when enabling a custom compoent in UCM 11g.

Hi,
I am seeing following exception when enabling custom component in UCM 11g (through component manager). Any pointers on what could be the issue.
intradoc.common.ServiceException: !csComponentDataNotFound, DV_Eloqua
After enabling when i restart the server, i don't see this exception again and in the component manager the component looks enabled.
Logs are not clear on what is causing this. Can i Ignore this?

Hi,
I see this issue with install of all the custom components. The exception I pasted in previous post was just one of the many.
To give you some back ground,
This was done as part of migration effort from UCM 10gR3 to UCM 11g.
There custom components were developed for UCM 10gR3, we have updated the code to use RIDC and as part of migration to 11g.
Custom components were then installed to 11g using component manager.
This issue is not see in of the component installed, even that component was migrated from 10gR3.

How to learn UCM 11g from scratch

You will need a test system, use VirtualBox as you can undo any disasters by taking snapshots. If you don't know how to configure and administer managed servers in Weblogic Server then learn that first - just how to configure UCM and Node Manager so you can start and stop it from the Admin Server console.
It is worth learning to install Webcenter Content on Linux ( I recommend Oracle 6.6) and also on Windows if you want to use Enterprise Capture with Recognition but if you are impatient to start with UCM, Oracle have a ready-made VM with just about everything you need installed. Oracle WebCenter Portal 11.1.1.8 Virtual Machine | Oracle Technology Network | Oracle. You may need to patch the installation, I don't know what patch level it is set to.
When reading the Oracle documentation Make sure you get the WCC UCM documentation not the IPM documentation. Make lots of bookmarks and when you see "for more information on..." open the link in a new tab or you will get lost seven levels down when you realise you are back to the same page you started from.
Learn the security model, a group in Weblogic Server with the same names as a Role in UCM will be granted the Role's access, how to use content types, rules and profiles. if you have experience with any other DM systems, know that metadata fields in UCM are not attributes of a document class, they are attributes of the system and present for all documents unless you filter them out with Rules.
Know also that there are two Web UIs so when you read the latest documentation the screenshots are from the latest Web UI. I don't know if it has been installed in the Portal VM but if you want to install it, read the Support article 1618305.1, it is not simple.

Fulltext search in UCM 11g

we are using UCM 11g in our application. Database is oracle 11G for the UCM. We need fulltext search to be enabled on UCM. But there two option to enable the fulltext search DATABASE.FULLTEXT and ORACLETEXTSEARCH.
Can anybody please tell which option should be used to enable fulltext search.

Hi Nitin,
We can configure the new file formats for full text search. Steps below:
Log in to with Admin permissions.
Go to Administration -> Admin Applets -> Configuration Manager
Options tab -> File Formats
Go to File extensions section add your new file extension for which you want to enable the full text and map to some text format or word format
Now, you will be able to full text your own extension based file. I have verified, it's working well
Please note that, if the file extension is more than 8 characters (default value) you will not be able to add;
But, you can alter the table "ExTENSIONFORMATMAP" and can go ahead with longer extensions. Hope this will be useful.

I have the same problem with IRM. Apparently the OTN servers are being replicated in situ so it's possible you may hit the 404 if the server to which you've connected hasn't received its update yet. In theory, refreshing the page should make a new connection and potentially a different server. However, it seems there's some other logic behind the scenes which manages 'closest server' and/or 'least hit server' which means that you get redirected back to your unreplicated server all the time.
I'm told the replication process should complete in the next 24 hours or so. Until then http://edelivery.oracle.com is the only reliable location to download the products.

Does UCM 11g provide any default skinning options?

I have 2 questions basically:
1 )In UCM 10g there is an option to select skins IN My Profiles menu which provides 2 skin options, Oracle and Oracle2.. Is it possible in 10 G to create a website and use these two skins in your website to change menu, layout etc?
2) My actual area of work is to create a website in UCM 11g, i couldn't find any such option in 11 G which 10 G provided in My Profiles. Are there any default skins provided by 11G. How can I make use of these skins in my web application?
I found out that we can apply different kind of skins in 11g using ADF Faces. But that is not to be used in my project. Is it the only option in 11g?

OK I think you have confused two things here.
1)UCM ships with a native interface that is delivered by UCM based on HCSP/IDOC (A proprietary server side scripting language for generating HTML) this has been the case for about 10 years or so. THis native interface is used to provide the basic CMS capability and is oftent used as a simple clean front end for document management type deployments. UCM has very limited abilities to natively support personalisation (it does this by storing user settings on the file system) and one part of this is the ability to choose a layout and a skin. THe rendering of this profile is done via the HCSP/IDOC.
2)Since the Oracle acquisition of Stellent (~2007) there have been a number of productised ways to integrate UCM behind the Oracle ADF front ends of JDeveloper, WebCenter etc. The latest version of Site Studio lets you do just that using SSXA. I am not an ADF guru switiching between skins sounds perfeclty reasonable. BUT this has NOTHING to do with the old Oracle Oracle2 skins as far as I know.
I think you may be trying to run before you can walk really. First get to know UMC, Site Studio and ADF, then look at Site Studio SSXA and hopefully you will understand how/where skins can fit in.
Not trying to put you off but you have set quite a challenge to yourself

Sorting Tree Taxonomy in UCM 11g

Hello Folks,
I am experiencing small issue in UCM 11g.
We have few taxonomy which we display in Tree structure. The Tree can be drill down upto 3 level based on Views. I had to change the few values at Second level, I made the change in view related to second level. Now, I can see the new values in metadata, but whenever I try to update the metadata value by clicking 'select' button, the popup shows the old values. ##Why??##. Further, when I select the old values and submit my changes, then it shows new values in metadata values.
I mean, while updating values I still get old values instead of new values, everywhere else I get new values.
Anything wrong?? why its not picking new values?? I can't bounce server for small value updates like these.

Did you click on Publish schema option in Configuration manager? Do you see updated value from config manager --> edit view options?

Start UCM 11g and IBR on WindowsServer 2008 during startup of the server

Hello,
I did install ucm 11g with an inbound refinery on a windows server 2008 64bit. The ucm and ibr are supposed to start automatically after the server is being turned on.
1. I did put the startWeblogic.cmd and the startNodeManager.cmd inside the Autostartup directory. The weblogic and the nodemanager are being started fine in a dos console.
2. I tried to start the ucm with the following command startManagedWeblogic UCM_Server1. Then it asks me for a username and password and then it throws a java exception and the UCM_Server1 is not being started.
The current status is that the weblogic and nodemanager will be started automatically and the UCM_Server1 and IBR_Server1 have to be started manually.
What is the usual way to startup the ucm automatically? Should I create Windows Services?
