Is Content Aware available in PSE10?

Is Content Aware Available in Photoshop Elements 10
Message title was edited by: Brett N

Content-Aware is available in Photoshop Elements 10. You don't have the same set of options as you have in Photoshop CS5 though. First, there is no Content-Aware option in Edit > Fill. But it is an option (selected by default) on the Spot Healing Brush. When you stitch together a photomerge panorama, you are given the additional option of filling in the empty outer spaces (not an option in Photoshop CS5). However, this step is memory intensive and may not work on all systems with all panoramas.

  • Dak's content aware fill action in PSE 10

Hi, There is an action available as some of you will no for PSE 9 (Dak's content aware fill action)
However for some reason the action will not work in PSE 10.
What it does, it allows you to make a selection and then fill that selection, like content aware fill command in CS5.
Is there any wizkids out there who maybe able to get the action to work in PSE 10 or figure out why it will not work?

Specifically about colour curves, have you tried the free SmartCurve plug-in?
    http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Graphic/Graphic-Plugins/SmartCurve.shtml
I don't know if it can be used as an adjustment layer, but it can certainly adjust curves for individual channels.
In general, since I will never be able to afford the "big" Photoshop, I've found that I need to use a few image editing programs -- no individual program has all the features PS does, so I use PSE, Corel's CorelDraw Graphics Suite X5, and the free Paint.Net.  It's a balancing act between cost/benefit.  (By the way, the CDRGS PhotoPaint does have a curves adjustment layer.)

  • Content Aware Fill--"not enough memory"

After watching a video on Adobe's site about using the new "Content aware fill" tool in CS5, I am attempting to fill the blank space left when merging five images to make a panorama. The resulting file, after flattening, is 296M. When I select the blank area around the image and attemp to content fill, it begins work and then stops about halfway through with this message, "Could not fill because there is not enough memory (RAM)".
I'm running a MacPro (3,1) with OS 10.6.3, with 26 GB RAM. Photoshop recognizes all the RAM, and I have dedicated 22 GB just for Photoshop. Surely this is enough RAM for just about any operation one can attempt in Photoshop. PS is running in 64 bit, too. Any help on this issue would be very much appreciated.

Murph my first thought on this is there might be something else runniing that is eating up your memory.
I'm running a Mac Pro 2008 with 24GB rams with 70% or just over 16GB available and have had
no issues doing the same thing you are attempting on tiff images that are 1.4GB in size.
Check your activity monitor and see what's running and how much memory is being used by other
    processes.

  • Content aware not enough ram

If I try to use content aware unless I select a tiny area and nowhere near the size of the area selected in any of the online demos,I get a meassage that I am out of  memory [ram]?
When I look in preferences in cs 5 I am shown that I have 1671 MB of ram available and I have allocated 1420 which is 85% of that
I have 2 hard drives one partitioned as C and D and a spare for backups called E , I have tried using all or only E as scratch but I get the same message.

    what is going on?

well I am sorry and I though CS5 stood for creative suite version 5, how stupid of me, since you are so quick to point out my error perhaps you could be equally quick supply the correct forum address?
Now that would have been helpfull

  • Content Aware tool causing corrupt images

As the title states, I went to use my content aware tool to expand a rather simple background texture and it went completely haywire!
This is what it gave me! I tried to undo it, thinking it had grabbed from all the layers, but going back in the history didn't fix it. So I closed the file (I didn't save it like this) and reopened it only to see the same thing! This was a project for a client so I was more than a little angry that some how the tool had corrupted my entire file and then saved it without me knowing! So I took this screenshot, only to try and open up a New Document and have it too look corrupted. At this point, I closed photoshop completely, making sure any services that started up with it was shut down as well and restarted it and opened my TIF file to find it perfectly fine.
Again I tried to use the Content Aware tool (with all my layers shut off, minus the one I needed extended) to only have it do the same thing to all the layers again!
Needless to say I closed photoshop, made sure my video drivers were up to date and reopened, pasted my screenshot and came here. So the obvious thing is, is that my Content Aware tool is causing a problem, but what in the world is going on? How do I fix this?

Yes; it will always depend on the individual image.
Don't expect miracles.  The feature is OK but—despite all the hype—is not ground-breaking, in my opinion. It has been available for quite some time in Alien Skin's Image Doctor set of plug-ins and in the GIMP (this latter one free) in ways I find a bit better.

  • Master list of all content on available for purchase on iTunes?

I'd like to hand out an extensive website/list/etc to my team convincing them to use iTunes. I'd specifically like a master list of all content currently available to purchase on iTunes...music/artists, movies, tv shows, etc. I realize this is a wacky question, probably not possible or available, but if anyone is aware of such a list, please post! Thanks!

Kinda like asking for a list of all the words in the dictionary.
Why not look in the dictionary?
Just go to iTunes and browse or search for something.

  • When I click on my Facebook album, it just takes me to a page that says 'content not available' and the pictures do not show up on my page. Why?

    Hi everyone,
I'm having some trouble with Facebook for iPhoto. I recently migrated my buisness profile to a Page, per Facebook's rules, so when I log-in, I only have my Page. I connected the e-mail and password with iPhoto and have been trying to upload pictures. The pictures go to iPhoto, and they pend and then get approved. However, they do no show up on my Page, and when I try to click on the album through iPhoto is just says 'content not available.'
Does anyone know a solution to this problem?
    Thanks,
    Louise

  • Is there a way to do a content-aware rotation?

I have some objects in the edge of a wide-angle shot and there is the expected distortion. The b/g is pretty simple and instead of losing the space from fixing distortion, a content-aware rotation would be ideal. Is there a mechanism for this? There is move and scale, but not rotation, it seems.

I put up a link yesterday that will give you a workaround.  Check out page 4 from this link.
    http://www.pixelgenius.com/tips/evening-healing.pdf
I have tried it in CS6, and unless I have miissed something, you'll need a workaround for the workaround
So select the Patch tool, and set it to Normal (not Content Aware)  Set it Destination, and make sure Transparent is unchecked.
Select your source pixels, and copy to a new layer, (this step is optional - will discuss later)
Select the BG layer, and with your selection still active (if it turned off when you copied to new layer, Ctrl/Cmd the new layer to reload the selection)
Ctrl/Cmd T to bring up Free Transform
Move to the new location, and rotate; change size, whatever, and hit Enter.
Nudge the selection a tiny bit which will activate the Patch and blend in new location.
This has made a copy or the source pixels, so if you want rid, turn off the new layer, select and expand the white hole it leaves, and use CA Fill to fix.

  • Photoshop CS5 content-aware scale

Hi, I'm a photoshop CS5.1 64 bits user, I'm following the "Learn adobe photoshop CS5 by video" with the instructor  Kelly McCathran. Well, I need to know how to create two layers with different sizes to apply content-aware scale...I can't! I import a picture (4000x3000) from adobe bridge...When I create a layer with a different dimension (3000x2000) the picture (4000x3000) turns to (3000x2000)!!! What am I supposed to do?

With the smaller image appearing with the larger one in Photoshop, click on the smaller image in its Layers panel and drag it over the larger image.
Once the smaller image is sitting on top of the larger one in the Layers panel, you can change the size of the smaller image by using Edit > Transform > Scale.
Hold down the Shift key as you alter the scale, the image maintains proportion.

  • "Upright" Content Awareness in Camera Raw 8 / Photoshop CC

One of the new features in Camera Raw 8, which will ship with Photoshop CC, is the ability for the software to "see" converging lines in your image and try to straighten things up for you, compensating for perspective issues / wide angle lenses, etc.
It offers various choices, including an "Automatic" mode that almost always makes distorted things look better without taking the corrections to extremes.  It actually works pretty well.  Some screen grabs to illustrate...
A photo taken with an extreme wide angle lens in a hotel.
Off: As shot, with no correction
Auto:  Balanced perspective correction to make things look better without going to extremes.
Vertical:  Make all converging lines absolutely vertical, even to the point where the image does not fit within the frame.  Note that the Transform controls can be used to make it fit at the loss of more of the image.  Also note that if it doesn't fit, the image is opened as a layer with transparency in the place where we see the checkered background in the preview, so conceivably you could use Content Aware Fill or cloning to fill it in.
    Some additional examples...
    As shot:
    Auto:
    Horizontal only:
    Vertical Only:
Vertical with some added distortion to fit the frame:
    Full Horizontal and Vertical:
Horizontal and Vertical, plus negative scaling so you can easily see how the image has been distorted:
I toyed with the idea of making the [A] (Auto) my Camera Raw default, and that has merit as it really does improve most photos.  It will, for example, level most horizons (especially water).  But in the end I chose to leave it off and just know it's there so that if I have a troublesome image I can get a quick correction by clicking one of the buttons.
I'd say this feature is pretty slick.

  • Where is Content-Aware Age Tool in Photoshop CS6?

Was it suppose to be in the final release of Photoshop CS6?
If you go to this link http://www.practicalphotoshopmag.com/2012/04/01/photoshop-cs6-to-feature-content-aware-age -tool/
It states it was on beta version of Photoshop CS6 but no one have a video of it.  Or maybe it was for future release like CS6.1 or CS7.  I hope Adobe can add this useful feature on final version of CS6.

Yeah, and what about the "Clooning" and "Helen" tools mentioned in the same article?!?!?!
No "Clooning" and "Helen" tools, no upgrade for me matey!!!

Using the content aware move tool, I want to move an item from one image to another image but it does not seem to work. I think I need two layers on one document so how do I do this

    Good day!
A simple Paste does not work for you?
It should place the clipboard content as a new Layer which you can then move around.
If there is any chance that the elements need to be scaled, rotated etc. I would prefer to place them as Smart Objects (File > Place …) and do the masking that is specific to the images themselves in those.

  • How to create a 'Previous History' brush tool along with content aware

Truly did not know how to create a good title here.
When you use the 'Content Aware' tool and move subject 'A' to point B what happens is that A now sits on top of B which in turn means part of the image within B may be missing and you may still want it there where it was and where it should be. You could use the 'history brush' tool to brush away part of the new insert and erase what is there to reveveal what was there. How do you do the same thing to image A which now sits on B (to reveal what was there on A originally). What I mean is this. I moved a person from point A to point B. but parts of this person are missing (his ear, his knee, his shoe) so how do I get those parts back (in the new location)?
The history brush tool appears to be erasing by subtracting, what I would like to do in this case of course is not subtract but add or 're-add'.
    Thank you

    Hello,
here's a possible solution, before using content aware, take a snapshot of A and B, then use it as your history brush source whenever you need to 're-add':
please post back if you have any questions

  • Spot healing brush with content aware or proximity match?

I want to do the following:
    1. get rid of wrinkles, blemishes and dark circles under the eyes
What is the difference between using the content aware option and the proximity match option with the spot healing brush? Aren't they both blending surrounding pixels to get rid of the blemishes, wrinkles and dark circles?
    Thanks.

Proximity Match is how the Healing Brush works, it takes the surrounding pixels and blends them together with the underlying stuff. Content Aware on the other hand tries to recreate the texture based on the surrounding pixels so it doesn't blend with the pixels that you just painted over. Try both, see which one produces better results for you.
