Is copying songs one-way street

I've had a 15GB iPod for a couple of years now and have always copied songs from computer to iPod. Recently bought a new computer and was trying to copy songs back from iPod to machine, but I can't figure it out. Is it a one-way street?

You can download and install some 3rd party softwares in order for you to copy the music from iPod to your iTunes. Please try either one of the following

  • TS3999 How do you get info entered into iCal and Contacts on an equipped iPhone to push back to an equipped MacPro? so far it's only a one way street Macpro to phone, and that's not what I was told it would be.

    Hi, all.
How do you get information entered into iCal and Contacts on an equipped iPhone to push to an equipped MacPro? So far it's been a one way street Macpro to phone, and that's not what I was told it would be. I've been through all settings on both devices and see no way to do this. Help! If I synch the old fashioned way, what's going to happen?

First check that all your settings are correct, that contact syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the contacts you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' group and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud group (you can do this by checking in groups), non iCloud contacts will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your contacts are in the iCloud group, you might try unchecking contact syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling contact syncing.
First check that all your settings are correct, that calendar syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the calendars you are using are in your 'iCloud' account and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud account (you can do this by clicking/tapping the calendar button in the top left corner of the application ), non iCloud calendars will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your calendars are in the iCloud account, you might try unchecking calendar syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling calendar syncing settings.

  • Documents in the Cloud a one-way street?

I was really looking forward to the Documents in the Cloud feature so that my Numbers spreadsheets would stay in sync between my Mac, iPad, and iPhone. However, currently any documents I save to iCloud from my Mac never become visible to Numbers running on my iOS devices. However, if I create a new document on iOS, the Mac version eventually sees it and also changes made on the Mac are synced to the iOS versions, albeit with quite a delay. The Mac is running Mountain Lion and all apps are patched to their latest versions. However, my iWork on the Mac is a boxed copy as I bought it before the MAS versions came out.
Does anyone have ideas on how to make this work properly? In the current form it's not quite what the feature description promised.

    Actually, I found this:
Documents in the Cloud. And on your Mac or PC.
iCloud makes it easy to move Pages, Keynote, and Numbers documents between your computer and your iOS devices. Just sign in to icloud.com/iwork in any modern web browser, and all your iWork for iOS documents will be there — complete with your most recent edits. Click a document to download it in iWork ’09, Microsoft Office, or PDF format. You can also drag and drop any iWork ’09 or Microsoft Office document from your computer into one of the iWork apps on icloud.com, and it automatically appears on all your iOS devices, ready for you to review, edit, or present.
BUT - it states that the document will be downloaded. I am assuming then, that the document will need to be reuploaded after editing.
    Can anyone confirm?

  • One-Way Street

Trying to get iChat/AIM working with a PC in same room(same router) before the PC camera is delivered by Santa.
The PC can initiate and maintain a video call to the Mac.
The Mac works with the Apple test AIM site.
However, a call initiated from iChat launches a preview window on the Mac and generates an 'Accept Video' box on the PC, but clicking 'Accept' on the PC results in a 'Failed to start Video Chat because: ScreenName did not respond' in the Mac preview window.
Tried so far: stopping all three firewalls; setting Quicktime streaming to max.
    G5 on 10.4.3; iChat 3.1
    PC on XPpro SP2
AIM is 5.5.3598 on the PC
router/modem is Draytek Vigor 2600VG (PC & Mac on Ethernet)
    ADSL 2Mbps
I have but two weeks to get this working before the elves arrive. The pressure, the pressure...
    Can anyone help?

    Hi Maclover,
    Elf help.
Is the Modem set to use UPnP or Port Triggering as this is the only way a mixed envioronment like this will work ? Both computers will need to log in to AIM on the port 5190 to connect to the AIM servers and Port Forwarding will only allow one computer on one IP do use the port.
Have you enabled the AIM application through the XP Service Pack 2 firewall ?
    Instructions
This also list Enablng the UPnP in the same Firewall settings if that is how the modem is set up.
As you are getting some results it sounds like you have doe the Tuning But you do need to do this each time you disconnect the camera and Mic.
If the Mac is up to date with the latest Security update Set the Quicktime Streaming spped to the next setting down as Intranet/LAN and Automatic do not seem to work.
The Pic on this link suggests that the device is capable of UPnP. This Port Forwarding is also wrong at item 4 (16384-16403 should be on UDP)
One last thing. Some Draytecks are SIP aware and need the info on this page . Unfortunately I do not know which ones are for certain.

  • G5-Mini one-way street: where's the fail?

I just purchased a 2012 Mini to partner with my august Power Mac G5.
I've connected them with an Ethernet cable and the G5 behaves as it should—when I ask it to connect to the Mini it prompts for username and password and then shows the Mini's shared files. I've been able to transfer some photos over to the Mini this way.
But the Mini cannot browse the G5 no matter what I do. Important to note, it does see the G5. But it can't connect to it. I've tried addressing every possible name for the G5 including its self-assigned IP address in that port. I ask the Mini to browse or connect, the dialog says "connecting," and it hangs. The really annoying part of this is when I click the little "connect as..." button in the corner of the dialog, hoping I will be prompted for username and password as the G5 did in the reverse procedure, nothing happens. Eventually the Mini gives me an error message something like "there was a problem connecting with XXXXX, it may not exist or may not be available at this time," blahblah.
Any ideas what the problem might be here?
(In case this matters, the Mini is on my cable router's wi-fi network so it remains connected to the Internet while all this is going on. It doesn't need its Ethernet port for that. The G5 has no wi-fi capability so it is wired to the router.)

In file sharing options only AFP is checked. I did try checking SMB and enabling both of the G5's users but it made no difference.
I have been over the folders, users and rights many times. Can't see any problem there. Unless the Mini doesn't like the fact that the G5 has two users. In case that was an issue I removed the alternate user and its folders from the whole sharing scheme. That didn't help either. Nor did enabling remote login.
I  don't see how this can be the fault of the G5 since it is able to read the Mini and write to it. This is a problem with the Mini, methinks. It just makes no sense that no matter what the settings, there is no response when I click "connect as."
It also bothers me that when I go to Network preferences, the diode next to the Ethernet port on the Mini is yellow while the one on the G5's is green.
Perhaps now's the time to mention that the Mini was very poorly packaged by Best Buy (oversized outer box, insufficient air pillows) and handled with the usual violence (crinkled box) by UPS. (I probably should have refused it based on the crinkles and the obvious free movement of the box inside, let's leave that there.) I would not be surprised if there were some damage to the networking hardware. On the other hand, I'm tempted to go ahead and upgrade to Yosemite (this machine shipped with Mavericks) and see if the problem automagically goes away.

  • Get-CMUserDeviceAffinity a one way street?

I've noticed that this works fine for me:
    Get-CMUserDeviceAffinity -DeviceName $ComputerName
And I get a user name or names in the returned information.
However, if I try it on the other way around:
    Get-CMUserDeviceAffinity -UserName $UserName
I can only get the ResourceID of the device and not its actual name.
    I can then do this:
    Get-CMUserDeviceAffinity -ResourceID 33554493
And then I get the user name again.
I can pipe them through | Select * and I can see all the information but still no indication of the device's name.
Is there something I'm missing here, or do I need to pipe the output of this query through something else that converts a ResourceID into something meaningful?

    Well unfortunately that isn't working.
I'm assuming you mean Get-CMDevice, so I tried
    Get-CMDevice -ID 33554493
and get this in all red.  The other commands work without errors though.
And I am at the site code prompt when doing this so
    PS S00:\>

  • Lightroom mobile one way street & not really mobile from the start ?

Great news and was waiting some time for it ; But it looks the workflow starts always with the Photos already in the PC . Mobile is second ... Not really a fully mobile workflow like I am using today with :
    1) importing JPEG with EyeWifi on IPAD while shooting RAW + JPEG
    2) do the picks & ratings in pad using Photosmith
    3) sync to PC LR catalog with photosmith and the ratings &picks are applied to the RAW file = easy delete of raw files not picked ?
Will LR mobile sync JPG file information & meta data  to the raw file after import the raw in PC or is there no connection between JPEG & RAW when JPEG is imported in LR mobile ?
    Do I miss anything ?
    Bjoern

Fully understand but Raw is to big for IPAD; I would not look for getting the development settings synced at all nor do development on the JPEG .
My interesst is rather importing the JPEG direct from the camera, do the picks in the field on a long travel incl adding keywords for location  ... .and sync this to the RAW at home so I do not need to re-start all picks & keywords at home .

  • How do you copy music one at a time without syncing to a usb drive or from phone to itunes?

How do you only copy a few songs I dont get it! Please help!!

Syncing it's one way street, computer iTunes to iPhone (except content bought from the iTunes & App Stores).
To sync muisc from computer iTunes to iPhone:
1> Connect and select iPhone in computer iTunes left sidebar
2> Select the Music tab, and select all the songs you want to sync to iPhone (As many or as few, you don't have to load all 30 GB of music)
    3> Click the Sync button.
If the music on iPhone is not from/on your computer iTunes, you need a 3rd party software to upload it to the computer.

  • How can I copy songs from one iPod to another?

I received a new iPod Classic (last generation) and I'm trying to transfer my songs from my old iPod Nano (also last generation).
My iTunes library is also split up between my two parent's houses and I only have half the songs on my Nano in this computer's library.
Is there a way to copy only the songs on the +iPod Nano+ (not the iTunes library) and drop them onto the new iPod?

*Is there a way to copy only the songs on the iPod Nano (not the iTunes library) and drop them onto the new iPod?*
You can't copy directly from one iPod to another, you have to copy the songs back to iTunes and update the new iPod from there. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod to a computer
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

    SharePod Windows Only
    iRepo Mac and Windows
    iPodRip Mac & Windows

There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod

  • Copying song between accts on one computer. Does this count as 2 computers?

My mini has 2 accounts, mine and my wife's. When I purchase songs from iTunes store, they go into my ITunes library. I want to put some of these songs on my wife's iPod, so I make a copy of the song in my library, move the copy to the shared file, log in as my wife and move the copied song to my wife's iTunes library. I understand that iTunes limits number of copies and number of computers.
Does this count as 2 copies and 2 computers? Thanks,
    Owen

Two user accounts on one computer would use the same computer authorization. You don't have to authorize individual accounts, just each computer.

  • I have a new iMac and i created two libraries on iTunes. how do i copy songs from one library to the other?

I have a new imac. I created two libraries, one for me, one for my kids. how do I copy songs from one library to the other library?

Not easy unless you're just content with adding some files to the other as new files but lose playlists for those files, and playcount, and ratings, etc.  If you're okay with that, you can drag the media folder from one library to the other. If you use default settings and want to duplicate the media, just drag it. If you want to add the media but leave it where it is currently located, hold down the option key while dragging to the library window.
