Is Corporate Governance offered in ECC 6.0 ?

Hi Experts,
Is Corporate Governance module provided in ECC 6.0 ?
Regards
Saurabh

HI
you'll find the required installation guide if you follow the path:
SAP Service Marketplace in the ERP Financials area.
Installations and Upgrades -> SAP Application Components -> SAP ERP ->
SAP ERP 2004   or SAP ERP 2005
There you will find a tab:
'Financials: Strategic Enterprise management, Financial Supply Chain
Management, New General Ledger, Corporate Governance'
you can clearify you issue here.

  • Naming conventions, corporate governance standards, etc.

We're beginning the process of setting up the Oracle portal in our company to support over 300 communities of practice as well as several other applications. Getting our corporate governance, naming standards, taxonomy usage guidelines, etc. outlined up front (and right!) will be critical to the success of the program. There seem to be infinite options within the portal product.
Have you developed standards, governance, guidelines, etc. for usage within your portal environment? What lessons did you learn along the way? What advice and recommendations would you give someone starting out to do the same?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Did You get or made your own portelt and portlet parameter conventions?
If yes could you share it with me please?
At least the viewpoints, cornerstons of it?
    Thanks.

  • Blue boxes w/ links in IE

I have linked social media icons to their respective pages, but they appear differently in different browsers:
    - IE: a blue border surrounds the icons
    - Firefox: a white border surrounds the icons **this is how it is supposed to appear
    - Safari: no border around the icons
The only thing that bothers me is the blue border in IE. Is there anything I can do to change this?
Here is the code for the page:

  • Logged Changes !!

STD Program for Logged changes in Infotype RPUAUD00 is not working:doesn't show any change information..What settings do we need to set
done settings in Personnel Management >Personnel Administration >Tools >Revision >Set up change document >HR documents: Infotypes to be logged...still not working .....any help

In R/3 Release 4.7, SAP introduced an audit log to track changes to Personnel Development (PD) infotypes. The audit log for PD infotypes provides similar functionality to the well-known Personnel Administration (PA) infotype log. You configure the PA audit log on tables T585A, T585B, and T585C and display it via program RPUAUD00.
You configure the PD infotype change log in table T77CDOC_CUST and display it with program RHCDOC_DISPLAY. The PD audit log can track changes to infotypes 1000, 1001, and 1002. You may want to track changes to PD infotypes simply to ensure that everyone follows company guidelines, or you may need to implement this feature as part of a corporate governance policy. It also works in mySAP ERP Central Component (ECC).

  • Adobe Connect and New GoToMeeting HD

We have been using the Microsoft Live Meeting platform for about 2 years and wanted to move to an HD platform..just heard about the HD GTM on the TWIT MacBreak weekly podcast and did not know if we move to Adobe Connect .. is there an HD comparable option available or is it forthcoming? Leo

This is a very long type of conversation...really.
Things to consider if you want to move to a high definition video format for web conferencing:
    1. Bandwidth - do you have the network that can handle all users connecting at 780p resolution which would be about 3-4 times more data than the VGA or 640x480 resolution Adobe Connect uses? Many customers do not have the bandwidth to even handle VGA! The bandwidth requirements are huge when you are talking 1500 people in an Adobe Connect Seminar. That would overwhelm many IP based networks in no time at all.
    2. Adobe Connect like most web conference solutions is designed for corporate and government/educational  agencies. Many of those customers do not offer employees HD camera equipment or cameras period. Yes, there are exceptions but in general the product is designed for the average corporate/government customer with limited bandwidth and limited budgets for higher end equipment.
    3. Many customers have spent millions of dollars on Polycom and Tandberg HD type systems. These are extremely costly and they run on private networks to avoid the bandwidth issue mentioned. Those networks are costly as well but designed solely for video and audio from the SIP/h.264 or H.323 traffic. Adobe Connect can participate in that system as a "listener/watcher" . For most customers that is fine.
    4. Adobe is looking at HD options for Adobe Connect future versions but today the Adobe Connect 8 platform uses the Adobe Flash Media Server/Flash Player 9 feature set which limits the video to VGA quality for the webcam pod . It is planned that Adobe Flash 10 feature set will be added to one of the Adobe Connect 9 releases next year and at that point the options for HD (780p) video will arrive. So, stay tuned for that.
    5. Do most people need HD video? It's nice and we all like it but when you have hundreds of people in a room attending a meeting then video could be a huge disruption if some have bandwidth issues or if the entire network gets bogged down.
As for GoToMeeting's option, it is limited to 6 cameras and uses different streams to do that. Adobe Connect prides itself on using one network port (443 - SSL) for all traffic which helps our customers deal with firewall issues. Having many ports is a huge issue for many of our competitors. Understand that GoToMeeting has a market focus on small/medium corporations and individuals and cannnot scale to the numbers that Adobe Connect can.  They are also not focussed on government and do not have Section 508 compliancy that government agencies are required to consider. US State and Local Agencies have to consider accessibility as well when accepting Federal funding.

  • Doubt on ccg and pcg

Hi all,can anyone kindly explain me what exactly is grc(i mean is this some module in oracle apps) and it's link to oracle applications and what are these CCG and PCG.
I am very much confused with these terms..
    any help is appreciated,
    Thanks in advance!!

Oracle has several solutions for Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC). The following are products within Oracle's GRC offering:
    - Application Access Controls Governor (AACG) [http://www.oracle.com/us/solutions/corporate-governance/access-controls/index.html] - provides real-time monitoring and proactive enforcement of crucial access policies, such as those that support segregation of duties (SOD).
    - Enterprise Transaction Controls Governor (ETCG) [http://www.oracle.com/us/solutions/corporate-governance/transaction-controls/index.html] - continuously monitors transactions against policies to detect suspicious transactions or redundant business practices that get in the way of performance.
    - Configuration Controls Governor (CCG) [http://www.oracle.com/us/solutions/corporate-governance/configuration-controls/index.html] - automated solution that controls and tracks changes to key application setup data, using notifications and detailed reports to facilitate change management without burdening core business operations.
    - Preventive Controls Governor (PCG) [http://www.oracle.com/us/solutions/corporate-governance/preventive-controls/index.html] - provides fine-grained control over user viewing and editing of key data, while tracking changes (or attempted changes) by users in E-Business Suite.
    - Enterprise Governance, Risk, and Compliance Manager (EGRCM) [http://www.oracle.com/us/solutions/corporate-governance/grc-manager/index.html] - facilitates the holistic management of GRC programs while still addressing individual requirements with natively-built modules.
    - Governance, Risk, and Compliance Intelligence (GRCI) [http://www.oracle.com/us/solutions/corporate-governance/grc-intelligence/index.html] - combines qualitative and quantitative information and presents this information in integrated dashboards and reports, thereby allowing executives and managers to confidently identify and focus efforts on key risks and control issues including access policy conflicts.

  • SAP MDM, ORACLE MDM, Microsoft MDM and IBM MDM

Could someone discuss the differences and similarities between these MDMs-
SAP MDM, ORACLE MDM, Microsoft MDM and IBM MDM. Who is/will dominate the Market?
    Thank you.
    Priya.

    Hi priya k  ,
These r the details regarding MDMs-SAP MDM, ORACLE MDM, Microsoft MDM and IBM MDM.
    SAP Master Data Management
SAP Master Data Management (SAP MDM) enables master data on customers, partners and products to be consolidated and harmonized across the enterprise, making it available to all staff and business partners. A key component of SAP NetWeaver, SAP MDM ensures data integrity across all IT systems.
The SAP NetWeaver Master Data Management (SAP NetWeaver MDM) component of SAP NetWeaver creates the preconditions for enterprise services and business process management. The functionality represents customers, products, employees, vendors, and user-defined data objects in unified form. With SAP NetWeaver MDM, customers can manage master data and supplemental content, such as texts, PDF documents, high-resolution images, or diagrams in a central business information warehouse.
SAP Master Data Management (SAP MDM) is a component of SAP's NetWeaver product group and is used as a platform to consolidate, cleanse and synchronise a single version of the truth for master data within a heterogeneous application landscape. It has the ability to distribute internally and externally to SAP and non-SAP applications. SAP MDM is a key enabler of SAP Enterprise Service-Oriented Architecture. Standard system architecture would consist of a single central MDM server connected to client systems through SAP Exchange Infrastructure using XML documents, although connectivity without SAP XI can also be achieved. There are five standard implementation scenarios:
Content Consolidation - centralised cleansing, de-duplication and consolidation, enabling key mapping and consolidated group reporting in SAP BI. No re-distribution of cleansed data.
Master Data Harmonisation - as for Content Consolidation, plus re-distribution of cleansed, consolidated master data.
Central Master Data Management - as for Master Data Harmonisation, but all master data is maintained in the central MDM system. No maintenance of master data occurs in the connected client systems.
Rich Product Content Management - Catalogue management and publishing. Uses elements of Content Consolidation to centrally store rich content (images, PDF files, video, sound etc.) together with standard content in order to produce product catalogues (web or print). Has standard adapters to export content to DTP packages.
Global Data Synchronization - provides consistent trade item information exchange with retailers through data hubs (e.g. 1SYNC) Some features (for example, workflow) require custom development out of the box to provide screens for end users to use.
    History
SAP is currently on its second iteration of MDM software. Facing limited adoption of its initial release, SAP changed direction and in 2004 purchased a small vendor in the PIM space called A2i. This code has become the basis for the currently shipping SAP MDM 5.5, and as such, most analysts consider SAP MDM to be more of a PIM than a general MDM product at this time.

    Oracle MDM
Oracle MDM is a core “Fusion” technology that will enable them to integrate their diverse portfolio of acquired solutions (PeopleSoft, JD Edwards, Siebel, etc.) and allow them to work together much more effectively.MDM is also a key component of Oracle’s middleware strategy to aggressively target heterogeneous environments – solutions running on different databases, operating systems, and using different data warehouse or analytical solutions. Oracle is a leading provider of ERP and CRM applications, but more broadly they are a provider of core platform solutions that help pull together and harmonise all a company’s IT assets.”
Master Data Management solutions provide the ability to consolidate and federate master information from disparate systems and lines of business into one central data repository or “hub.” As part of its Master Data Management strategy, Oracle offers solutions that enable customers to synchronise critical information in a single, central location to achieve an accurate, 360-degree view of data, whether from packaged, legacy or custom applications. Oracle offers the following solutions:
Oracle Product Information Management Data Hub – Enables companies to centralise, manage and synchronise all product information with heterogeneous systems and trading partners.
Oracle Customer Hub – Centralises, de-duplicates and enriches customer data, continuously synchronising with other data sources across the enterprise, to provide a single, accurate, authoritative source of customer information throughout the enterprise.
Oracle Financial Consolidation Hub – Allows companies to control the financial consolidation process by integrating and automating data synchronisation, currency translation, inter-company eliminations, acquisitions and disposals.
“Clean, consolidated and accurate master data distributed throughout the enterprise can save companies millions of dollars annually. With Oracle, organisations are equipped to leverage the best data management practices available today to help dramatically increase operating efficiencies, improve customer loyalty and ensure corporate governance.
MDM solutions provide the ability to consolidate and federate disparate systems and lines of business into one central data repository. Acxiom is the world's largest processor of consumer data and collects and manages more than a billion records a day for its customers, which include nine of the country's top ten credit-card issuers and most major retail banks, insurers and automakers. By integrating Acxiom's consumer data with Oracle's comprehensive MDM solutions, Oracle plans to provide customers with a pre-packaged, content-enriched customer information repository with unprecedented levels of data quality. This hybrid approach to customer data management will help clients conduct better, faster and easier MDM projects and perform more targeted marketing campaigns to cross-sell and up-sell into existing customer accounts.
Oracle's MDM solutions serve as a customer data hub to unify customer data across multiple business units and functionally disparate systems. Oracle's comprehensive functionality manages customer data over the entire lifecycle: from capturing customer data, to cleansing addresses and spelling, identifying potential duplicates, consolidating duplicates, enhancing customer profiles with external data and distributing the authoritative customer profile to the operational systems.

  • Is it possible to save my pages documents as editable PDF's?

I start a new semester (college) in two weeks. I was wondering this partly because one of my professors (from last semester) had a lot of trouble sending pages documents to people who have PC's.
How do I save a pages document as a PDF and not as a ".doc"?
    Thanks!

one of my professors (from last semester) had a lot of trouble sending pages documents to people who have PC's. How do I save a pages document as a PDF and not as a ".doc"?
Microsoft Word was introduced for Macintosh in 1984. The file format of Microsoft Word is application-dependent, that is, both the author and the audience must acquire the selfsame application in order to see shared files. This is true also of Aldus PageMaker (introduced 1985), QuarkXPress (introduced 1987) and any of a very, very long list of file formats specific to one and only one application.
It became clear to all concerned in 1989-1990 that problems would be produced by interchange of digital documents, if there were no conversion from application-dependent archival file formats into application-independent archival file formats. It also became clear to all concerned that there would be two kinds of application-independent archival file formats.
When laser imaging was introduced, developers of laser imaging systems for photographic preparation of the printing surface introduced preparatory-phase page markup languages which are content-oriented and production-phase page description languages which are appearance-oriented. Initially, both were tied to the make and model of laser imaging system.
Page markup languages for a make and model of laser imaging system (essentially the command syntax for the laser imagesetter) meant that if you coded/tagged for one make and model of laser imagesetter, you could not repurpose what you had coded/tagged for another make and model of laser imagesetter. Clearly, this was uneconomical.
This realisation led to SGML Standard Generalised Markup Language under the governance of the International Standards Organisation. SGML is not perfect, among other things it can let you have what are essentially private characters and if porous memory serves it can let you have several coded character sets simultaneously which is undesirable in a content-oriented format.
The same sort of problem was posed by page description languages the first of which was the command syntax for the raster image processor that ran the Monotype Lasercomp introduced in 1976. Page description languages introduce an x-y coordinate design space that is mapped onto an x-y coordinate user space which is the address space of the raster image processor.
Page descriptions that depended on the command syntax for a make and model of laser imagesetter posed problems for portability and page description languages under corporate governance clustered around the companies in the United States that targetted the market for graphic information processing commonly called desktop publishing.
Hewlett-Packard Printer Command Language was introduced into this market in May 1984 when the Hewlett-Packard LaserJet made it to market, driving a wedge between the IBM Personal Computer and the IBM line of non-impact printers. Xerox Interpress made it from the laboratory into the market with the initial documentation of the model in 1985.
Adobe PostScript and Xerox Interpress are along almost all dimensions the same model, developed by some of the same people. Adobe PostScript made it to market through a contract entered into in late 1984 between CEO Steven Jobs of Apple Computer, CEO Dr Wolfgang K u m m e r of Linotype, and CEO Dr John Warnock of Adobe Systems.
Adobe PostScript and Xerox Interpress both support multiple coded character sets simultaneously, although Xerox Interpress favours XCCS Xerox Coded Character Set which is the conceptual precursor of Unicode. Xerox Interpress in addition has a default metric coordinate system and strict page-independent structure that Adobe PostScript does not have.
At the Seybold Conference on Computer Publishing in September 1989, Dr John Warnock stated that the aim was to be able to send a page description around the world. In order to do this, first, the page-dependent structuring of Adobe PostScript had to be converted into a page-indendent structuring principle suited for drawing pages in any order on the digital graphic display.
But neither Adobe PostScript nor Xerox Interpress, being appearance-oriented page descriptions, had a strong concept of a standard coded character set that structured the imaging process. Adobe PostScript is in fact a strategy to overcome drawing on a digital device with small coded character sets containing incompatible constituencies of character codes.
The Adobe PostScript rasteriser deals with glyph names and not with character codes and some sort of solution had to be sought so that source character information could be synthesised in converting page-dependent PostScript into the page-independent page description model of what in June 1993 was introduced as Portable Document Format version 1.0.
This solution is to try to use font-independent glyph identifiers as glyph names so that the conversion from Adobe PostScript to Adobe Portable Document Format carries forward a clue about the source character information. There is no concept in PDF of page text, as if the source character information were contained in the page description.
This is the core of the commercial conflict between Adobe Systems which is trying to preserve its market share for the Adobe Portable Document Format, and to introduce Adobe PDFXML as a more serviceable and more sustainable solution for computerised full phrase cataloguing, and on the other hand Microsoft XPS XML Paper Specification which does indeed have a concept of page text for computerised full phrase cataloguing.

  • How to determine the Country and Organization from IP

    Hi,
I would like to determine the Country and Organization from a given IP. I have to write a JSP, which when given the IP address gives the country and the organization to which the IP belongs. The organization may be the ISP, or a MNC or any other corporate/government body, or it may be of an individual. I have to do it progamitically from inside a JSP?
    Any suggestions anybody
Thanks in Advance for your reply

even when tracking IP's, if it is static you can narrow it down pretty far - if it's dynamic, you can only narrow it down to a specific part of the country.
