Is cover flow gone in iTunes 11?

Just what the topic asks, Thanks!

I watched the new video on the iTunes 11 page and noticed Cover Flow is gone.  What a disappointment!  I preferred a partial list view with Cover Flow, like others probably did too.  I will check out iTunes 11 on my external drive with Snow Leopard, just for fun, but I will not be replacing 10.7 on my main drive.  I used the feeback page to say what a mistake it was to remove Cover Flow, and I would not recommend the upgrade to anyone.  You can restore the sidebar and status bar at the bottom by reselecting them in the View menu.  I don't think the removal of Cover Flow has anything to do with the patent lawsuit in 2010, because the judge reversed the decision in 2011.  I think this is just Apple's way...just as they ruined iMovie from the complete overhaul from iMovie HD 6 to iMovie 7.

  • Scratchy Sound When Sliding Through Covers in Cover Flow View in iTunes 8

Anyone having problems with a scratchy sound as you slide through covers in the cover flow view in iTunes 8?
Also sliding too fast has caused app to crash.

The scratchy sound seems to have come up a few times with iTunes 8 (including in a couple of other threads that I can't find right now). It seems to have picked up around the last QT update, which was coincident with the iTunes upgrade.
    (post updated)
I must admit, I didn't read closely at 7:30 in the morning, and didn't see this was just happening to OP with cover flow.
But there have been a number of people (including me) complaining of general scratchiness in iTunes 8 and AirTunes that seems traceable to the last QT update. Be glad you aren't in my situation, where it's ALWAYS scratchy.

  • We want Cover Flow back in iTunes

After updating my iTunes I saw the new interface and I thought, ok, a new way to use iTunes. Some nice features, in the GUI. But than I got a shock:
    No coverflow anymore??
    No option to enable coverflow??
I don't have so much albums in my library, the most of them a "single" songs. So one Album contains one song. For me the album view is not so important as the song and playlist view.
And here its not possible anymore to go through the library like on a jukebox? Once Cover Flow was that "killer feature" of iTunes. And now its gone?
Grabbing in a list like in the older days? That's a step backward!
Apple, please bring back coverflow to iTunes in the next update!

Coverflow - the most overrated feature that only looks good in demos. Least functional and most resource intensive way of browsing your library.
I thought it was overrated too — until I downloaded iTunes 11. Now I sorely miss it when looking at playlists. Having that visual reference at the top of the screen was extremely helpful, and the new Artist List doesn't cut it because that view doesn't preserve the ORDER of your playlist.
I never used Cover Flow to NAVIGATE, but it absolutely ***** not having it as a visual reference for otherwise plain-text lists.
But don't worry — Apple will never bring it back. Everyone in this thread, don't worry your little heads. Apple knows best what you need, whether you agree or not. Don't question Apple. Only praise allowed.

  • How do we get Apple to put cover flow back into iTunes?

How do we organize to grit cover flow back?

You can request it.  That does not mean that the owners of the film will allow it.

  • Cover Flow view in iTunes 7

I really like the cover flow view but it seems the albums are keyed on Artist so if different tracks have different artists, they show up as multiple albums in the cover flow view. Is there any way to make it key on Album name instead?
iMac 20" Core Duo 2M   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   300G Seagate external HD

Below the cover view is the track listing which has all the columns as usual - simply click the column title to sort by that field.
If the album has different artists then make sure the 'group compilations' option is ticked in preferences and then go into the info for the tracks and select 'part of a compilation'. iTunes will then group the tracks into a single album and display 'various artists' as the artist.
There is also now a field called 'album artist' which sets an artist for an entire album.

  • Cover flow view for iTunes 11

Is the cover flow view available for itunes 11? I am not able to find it.

That' really sad... Cover Flow was one good feature that I liked in iTunes. And so, I'm still sticking onto version 10.7

  • Cover flow gone wrong

    Hi,
I'm really confused as to why my cover flow has become very distorted. Everything else on my iTunes is fine apart from when I view my album covers in cover flow all I get is a mass of black, white and colored lines. Even the scroll bar and text at the bottom is like this. The problem also occours when I try to view previews of films in the iTunes store. I have tried re-installing the new version of iTunes, deleting all the album covers and putting them back on again and even deleting my entire music library from my computer. However it does not affect my iPod touch's cover flow. Can anybody help me fix it!???
    Katherine

    Hi,
There are two likely causes for the symptoms you decribe, detailed in the two sections of the post I pointed out. First make sure the album is not marked as Compilation. Select all the tracks of one of the problem albums, Get info. then on the options tab make sure *Part of a compilation* reads No, tick the checkbox even if it already says No. Click OK. I don't use my iPod in manual mode but I presume iTunes will do tag modifications in manual mode. Second possibility revolves around the various "Sort" fields which can be used to override the natural sorting order for albums and artists. Take *The Clash* for example. iTunes will normally set a Sort Artist value of "Clash" so the band is listed under C instead of T. You can put your own value for sort artist, e.g. "ZZZZ Clash", would normally force them towards the end of Cover flow or the Artists menu. Check what values, if any, these fields have to see if they could be causing the problem. It might also pay to reset your ipod as this will sometimes fix errors in the way it lists things.

  • Cover flow gone?

Recently I noticed that my ipod nano (3rd gen) has lost the cover flow option!
Maybe I'm not looking in the correct spot, but I thought it was under Music --> Cover Flow.
For some reason it doesn't show up?
Anyone have the same problem, or it could be that I'm looking in the incorrect spot for it!
    Thanks in advance.

Settings/main menu/select coverflow (should show a check mark).

  • Cover flow view in itunes

Hello I am a new iTunes user. I love the feature that allows you to view your music arranged under their album covers. But when I am viewing the covers in iTunes it creates multiple entries of the same album if there is an additional artist performing on the album. For example, the new Timbaland cd shockvalue shows a different cover picture for every song. So instead of just showing one album cover for all the songs from the same cd it shows Timbaland presents shockvalue featuring Timbaland and nelly furtado, then it has another one, with Timbaland presents shockvalue featuring Timbaland and Justin Timberlake. I have tried several viewing options with coverflow but have not found a configuration that doesn't break up a cd's songs into multiple entries if their are additional artists on the same album. Why would anyone want to see 15 coverflow pictures for the same CD? This makes viewing the coverflow option a really flawed feature.

Have a look at this article in the Apple Knowledge Base and let us know if it brings you any combination of joy and/or satisfaction.

  • Why has Cover Flow gone from 11??

They say Apple found users didnt find it useful???? Well they didnt ask me because i did.. visually!!
Whoever thought it was a good idea needs to find a new job!!!

UNBELIEVABLE - I am shocked to hear coverflow has been removed.  I use coverflow all the time, on all of my apple devices (exc iPod Classic as Apple never rectified the issue to display via album/artist).  Its the closest we get today to holding an album (CD/Vinyl).
I can only hope that Apple can see this as a genuine mistake and give us back coverflow, PLEASE!!!!

  • Safari cover flow gone

How do I get it back?

This is copied from the Apple iOS 5 website features. It does talk about using tabs now.
    Safari
    Even better site-seeing.
iOS 5 brings even more web-browsing features to iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Safari Reader displays web articles sans ads or clutter so you can read without distractions. Reading List lets you save interesting articles to peruse later, while iCloud keeps your list updated across all your devices. On iPad, tabbed browsing helps you keep track of multiple web pages and switch between them with ease. And iOS 5 improves Safari performance on all your iOS devices.
