No. CS 5.5 was a paid upgrade. Anyway, it's a moot point. Now only CS6 is available.

    Look you might have understood them wrong or you're saying something that they didn't say. They might have told you that there is going to be a free upgrade program for Windows 7 closer to when Windows 7 launches and thought you could get it when you bought it or you just want to accuse HP that they said that you would have the W7 Upgrade for free so you can get the upgrade. You made a mistake of listening to people and not looking for the official Microsoft Announcement. Your out of luck. Microsoft did this with xp to vista when vista came out and it was around the same months as vista to W7, so you should have also looked for past free upgrade. On February, Windows 7 date hasn't even been announced and the beta was still in progress as posted here on February 2009 http://windowsteamblog.com/blogs/windows7/archive/2009/01/23/general-availability-for-the-windows-7-beta-to-end.aspx   So this goes back to the top, you should have looked at past free upgrades like xp to vista to check how many months before they will start the free upgrade program.

  • No sound after Windows 10 free upgrade from WIN7 on G71-340US laptop with IDT CODEC.

    After free upgrade from WIN7 to WIN10 my laptop no longer has any sound (with internal or external speakers). I have tried uninstalling IDT driver and allowing Windows 10 to reinstall the driver through scan for HW changes - still no sound. I would appreciate any guidance or fixes for this problem. Thank you.

    I am happy to report I now have sound on my G71-340US laptop. After further trial and error troubleshooting I found that there is an app called IDT PC Audio (aka IDT HD Sound) installed on my laptop by HP (OEM) I think. While I'm not exactly sure what this app's function is it appears it is related to activating IDT HD Codec drivers functionality. Somehow I decided to look in Task Manager - Startup and saw this IDT PC Audio listed. I clicked on disable and then a minute later clicked on enable. After I did that, as simple as it appears, I now was able to hear sound both on internal and external speakers. This is the first time I heard any sound since upgrading to WIN10. I have checked it several times by re-booting my laptop and each and every time I now have sound. I'll continue to test this through the week and see if it continues to be OK. Meanwhile, I thought I would share this potential fix (or workaround) with all concerned. Perhaps others will find this useful and provide me your feedback. Keeping my fingers crossed! PS. BTW, if anyone out there knows what IDT PC Audio is by all means share your knowledge. I am curious why this app doesn't appear more often in the forum posts and how it may relate to the WIN10 upgrade. Sorry, but I don't recall what prompted me to look at Task Manager - Startup but I'm glad I did. It's great to hear sound again!

    I'm confused on the new policy on iPhoto '11. 
    Here's my situation:  Early 2009 iMac, running Mavericks.  I have iPhoto 09 (Version 8.1.2) installed on the computer.

    If you buy a machine preloaded with Windows Vista after July 1st 2009, you will be eligible for a free upgrade to Windows 7 once it's released. There are a number of restrictions, though; you are not allowed to upgrade from one language to another. In addition, the only upgrade paths allowed within the program are from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Home Premium, Business to Professional, and Ultimate to Ultimate. All other paths are not allowed; people who buy Vista Starter or Vista Home Basic are not eligible for upgrades, for instance.

    I was waiting to buy Aperture until the pending release. I was just checking the Apple site and noted that they are now predicting a ship date in April.
    I noticed the following:
    "Current owners of Aperture 1.0 can upgrade to Aperture 1.1 via Software Update."
    I take it I can buy Aperture now and start learning how the app works plus get a free upgrade to the Universal version using the normal software update process. Is this correct? I though I seem to remember that when the MBP and other things were announced there would be a $49 fee to upgrade. Maybe things have changed in the last three months.

    As others have noted that is correct, but just to be clear - do you have an Intel mac now? If so you can install Aperture but not run it until 1.1 comes out and updates your copy to a universal binary. So you'd not be able to really learn from it other than reading the book and watching the video that comes with it.

    The Mountain Lion up to date program only applies to hardware purchases.  Unfortunately, I don't think there is anything you can do in your situation.

    This is a stumper! As MrHelper stated, we do not have a 750MB plan so I'm curious as to what that offer was. How much data did you end up using for the month and how much were you charged in overages?

    Yes I did look around on the page. I am very familiar with the page. It is the log on page for icloud that you are taken to after you say yes to convert from me.com to icloud.com. I have changed over about 6 me accounts so I have seen it a few times and even today when I went through the motions again there was no option for a free Snow Leopard anything. Yes, I agree with you. I thought I would try on here and then go call Apple if I had no luck here on the forums. Thanks!!

    We have a valid serial number and the original 9.0 media set. When I tried migrating the App Store updated it free of charge.  However I don't know how to get Logic on without migrating as it point blank refuses when I insert the install disk.

    Something is not quite right here:
    I have the original Studio 2 disks here, and the installer runs fine under OSX.8.3. It will install Logic Pro 9.0.0, which can then be updated by downloading the 9.1.7 or 9.1.8 updater from Apple Downloads.
    On your system, the installer refuses to run, or does the install proceed, but you are unable to update Logic so that it will work on Mountain Lion?
