Is CS5 compatible with newer MAC operating systems?

I am running CS5 on an iMac 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with Mac OS X 10.6.8. I would like to upgrade my OS to a newer version but do not want to lose use of CS5. Which OS X version would be best to upgrade to?

Hi djackathens,
CS3 is not compatible with MAC 10.8.5.
CS5 though not tested but works on MAC 10.8.5
You can check the minimum system requirements for CS5 at :

  • Is Elements 6 for Mac compatible with new Lion operating system?

I'm planning to buy a new iMac with OS X Lion. Will the Photoshop Elements 6 for Mac program that I am currently using be compatible with the Lion operating system?

Adobe's official response about any software and any major operating system update is that since the software wasn't tested on the new OS, they don't consider it compatible. Just as they never update the system requirements to show updated versions of the compatible OS. They just don't go there at all. If you called them they would say no, but not based on experience or experiment, merely on policy.
I don't think there's anything especially complicated--based on what I hear in real life, people who don't have Open in Rosetta turned on when they upgrade to lion are mostly okay, while there's no way to make it go if you did have it set for Rosetta. I would guess a new install would be fine, but I haven't had a chance to try it out myself yet. Scanning and such are likely to have problems, and of course older ppc plug-ins won't work anymore.

  • I just purchase a brand new mac computer and I need to purchase new adobe CS software. Do you know if Adobe CS5 Design Premium-MAc is compatible with new mac computers with the updated software?

I just purchase a brand new mac computer and I need to purchase new adobe CS software for work. Do you know if Adobe CS5 Design Premium-Mac is compatible with new mac computers with the updated Yosemite software? *No previous adobe CS software versions are on this computer

There are known technical issues with any older version on Yosemite, even CS6. Some can be worked out, others may not be relevant to you, some will remain unsolved.

  • CS6 Camera Raw - I can now only crop using aspect ratio in the custom crop setting rather than being able to set the dims in cm and inches? anyone know how to revert? ever since installing new mac operating system things have been strange!

CS6 Camera Raw - I can now only crop using aspect ratio in the custom crop setting rather than being able to set the dims in cm and inches? anyone know how to revert? ever since installing new mac operating system things have been strange!

    Hi Kglad.
I have looked at all of my settings both in Bridge and CS6 Photoshop regarding Camera Raw. I am at a loss how to set the crop tool in cm or inches as I once did - now the only option is to crop using ratios of 1:1 etc etc - This is infuriating as lots of my square crops I could set at 10" x 10'' specifically to print one to one to fit frame and mount size -
Now if cropping using bloody aspect ratio of 1:1 (square) the actual dims of the crop are roughly 4.25 inches x 4.25 inches. this means I then have to open the whole image in photoshop in order to crop at the dims I have set! It was so much quicker in terms of batch cropping in camera raw being able to set dims in centimetres and inches but they have gone and mucked around with it, with the new bloody update! Unless you are an absolute genius and know how I can go back to having an option of CM, Inches and aspect ratio within the custom crop settings? (Please say you do)
here is the new tutorial for CC -  my guess is they have scrapped the control we had over the custom crop settings

  • Mail application with new maverick operating system requires me to log into i cloud every time I open the mail application. Why is this?

I downloaded the new maverick operating system to my mac book pro, and after the download, the mail appliation keeps poping up a log in box from i cloud asking my password. Why?

If the email addresses are not aliases and you have seperate sign in Apple IDs, the first sign into iCloud with your main address.
For the second, open Mail, Contacts, & Calendars icon in system preferences. Click to add account and choose iCloud in the list. Provide your ID and password and the account should be created. You will not be able to sync AB, Calendars, etc though. You will only have those features with the first main account you set up first.

  • I need to install new Mac operating system Yosemite. Will Adobe CS5.5 still be compatible with Yosemite or will I have toupgrade all my Adobe products?

I need to install an upgrade to my mac - Yosemite.  Will my CS5.45 version of Adobe products be compatible with Yosemite or will I need to purchase and install upgrades to all the products?

Actually, the question is whether MacOS 10.10 is compatible with CS5.5, an existing application. Alas, when you are running MacOS, you pretty agree to an environment in which an OS upgrade may force application upgrades simply because Apple purposely does not maintain compatibility with existing applications. Sad, but true. Nothing that Adobe can do to get around this.
And more to your original point, Bob Levine is correct. It is not officially supported on MacOS 10.10 and even if you can coerce it to install and run at all, you will definitely have a compromised experience.

  • Is Adobe Premier Elements 11 Compatible with Apple Mavericks Operating System?

I am considering upgrading to the Mavericks operating system on my iMac computer, but before I do, I want to make sure that Premier Elements 11 is compatible with the operating system and will run properly.  Anyone have any experience.

    Sandeep
In your answer to RogerD12, you wrote
Yes, Premiere Elements 11 is compatible with Apple Mavericks 10.9
Is that answer dependent on where Premiere Elements 11 Mac was purchased? Specifically, does your reply apply to
Adobe Premiere Elements 11 Editor (purchased from Mac App Store)
    and
Adobe Premiere Elements 11 Quick Editor (purchased from Mac App Store
    as well as
Premiere Elements 11 Mac (purchased from Adobe)?
    Thanks.

    Hello, Morie,
Your iPad mini is indeed compatible with Windows 8 systems. Perhaps this Apple support article will help:

  • Compatible with new MAC OS Leopard?

    Dear experts,
I bought my PowerBook G4 in the summer of 2005, so it does not have the intel processor and from my understanding it was the last of its model. So, will I still be able to install the new MAC OS 11 Leopard when it is released? If so will I be missing out on any features?
While I know from my limited understanding it might be impossible, but what type of upgrades or modifications should/can I consider on my PowerBook to prepare it for the new OS and to expand its life span 2-3 more years?
    Thank you!
    Tomes

I notice quite a bit of slow down when I'm running say, a PDF, Safari, Mail, MSN Messenger, and I use iTunes and iPhoto alot. I am not a huge multimedia person in terms of designing or building, but I read and watch lots of it for school and work while trying to get other work done... i.e. watch a news report while summarizing on word and then sending it in e-mail.
Hope this helps with diagnosis. Thanks!

  • Just upgraded to the new mac operating system and Illustrator CS5 crashes upon launching. All other applications open fine

    Any helpful ideas?

Did you migrate the CS5 files or do a complete reinstall of the software from the original media? Adobe products don't do well with migration.

  • Trouble with new ios5 operating system.

I have set my iMac up with iCloud but I can't set up my ipad2. When I go to settings on my ipad2 the iCloud button is not highlighted and is inactive. plus now I don't know how to delete or get new episodes of podcasts like you could do easily before the new update. I would also like to know if anyone knows if you can play two separate versions of the same game on one iPad. My wife and I have two separate  apple  IDs but only one iPad to play the same game. When we try we both end up playing the same game with identical scores and levels. We play games on Game Cebter with our apple IDs. Thankyou if you can help with these questions.

You need to go into restrictions and allow all web content, then go back into Safari and clear web history. If your kids are using your ipad, you can go back into settings again and restrict their web use. Unfortunately every time you allow a website to be used for yourself, you will need to go back into settings to disable that website again so the kids can't access it. It is a little tedious since Apple doesn't do profiles yet.
