Download Lightroom 5.2 to open Nikon D800 RAW images. OK.
Photoshop CS5 manages D700 but not D800 RAW. CS5 Extended is asking for 8.2 Camera Raw version when using D800 files. Believe have 6.7 as the latest available software version.
Is Lightroom 5.2 or Nikon NX2 Capture my only choice converting Raw images?
Cannot justify Photoshop CC financially and don't think I have to upgrade to Photoshop CS6 as it is somewhat outdated for almost $700.
Use Windows 7 & 8. Please advise Hartmut

Or use the free Adobe DNG converter to convert the Raw D800 files to DNGs. Then edit the DNGs in CS5.

Does anyone know if there is a camera raw update for the new Nikon D800 in iphoto 08 version 7.1.5 and Aperture 2.1.4?

There is Camera Raw update for he D800. It requires 106.8 or later, and iPhoto 09 or Aperture 3 or later.
I woud not expect an update foriPhoto 08, Ap 2 or 10.5.

You will need the free Adobe DNG Converter to convert your D800 NEF photos to DNG, which can then be opened in PSE9.

Using Lens profiles for Nikon D800 in Lightroom 3.6

When I use Lightroom 3.6 with pictures from Nikon D800, the lens profile for the Mikro Nikor 60 mm lens is not in the list of coice. However, when the picture is from a Nikon D5000, the same lens appears in the list. So, a lens profile exists, but is not open for pictures from the D800. How can I solve this problem? The same is true for the 18-200 mm lens, which however is not suited for the D800 due to heavy vignetting at wide angle, and with the 70-300 mm, which gives good results.

The D5000 is a crop sensor. The D800 is a Full-Frame sensor. The Profile for D5000 cannot be "scaled" for a full-frame sensor: thus, it cannot be used.
Every lens has multipe profiles: 1 for Raw and 1 for Jpeg in each sensor size. If one has not been created for your particular lens, camera a file format you have three options.
1: Download the Adobe Lens Profile tool from Adobe Labs and create on yourself. It isn't hard but it is time consuming.
2: Part of the Adobe Lens Profile tool is a Lens Profile Downloader where you can gain access to a community of people who have shared their lens profiles.
3: Wait for Adobe to include it in a dot release of Lightroom.
I checked and I did see the profile for your 60MM available via the downloader.

Camera Raw for NIKON D800

I recently purchased a NIKON D800 and did some test shots in RAW nef. When I took it into Photoshop Elements 10 with Camera Raw 6.5, it stated that this version would not support this format. According to the websit, it does? Any ideas?

You need at least camera raw 6.7 to open the D800 files.

If you go to Help>Updates from within the photoshop elements 10 editor, that should download and install the
camera raw 6.7 plugin.

It can process the Nikon D800 raw files (.NEF) into DNG files, which can then be read in the current Camera Raw 7.0 of CS6 Public Beta.

CS5 Raw Support for Nikon D800 not function well after Time Machine restore

I am using the CS5 with RAW support version for D800 without any problem before.
I am not very sure the RAW support version that I use in the past.
But after I restore my iMac with the latest time machine file.
CS5 cannot open the RAW file for D800 anymore, I try to install the latest RAW file version 6.7 for CS5, but when I click to check the RAW support version in CS5, it keeps showing version 6.6, any idea how to solv

I down loaded ACR 6.7 for CS5 so that the raw files for Nikon D800 would work. But they still don't open

What else do I have to do so the raw files will open in bridge?

Well, it says I already have the most recent version. However Google Plus still says my version is out of date.
A friend suggested I back up my bookmarks, then try uninstalling & reinstalling Firefox the traditional way, and rebooting my system afterwards.
I'm going to try that to see if there is some kind of other issue going on between Google Plus and all of the websites that say my browser is out of date (ie. version 3.5) when it is not.

Rendering of Nikon D800 NEF images still slow in LR 5.2

Hi,
I just checked whether the update to 5.2 would improve speed of rendering images in the Develop module for Nikon D800 NEF files but alas, LR is still taking its time to render images and going back and forth between two or more D800 NEF files to check focus at 100% magnification remains an excercise in meditation....
I had initially hoped that the move from LR 4.x to LR 5 would improve things but this wasn't the case - so when will Adobe finally catch up with the development in cameras with ever bigger files? The Nikon D800 came out one full year ago...
Has anyone looked into this issue and found workarounds (for instance by using the new Smart previews)?

Yes - speed is improved by using smart previews. Contrary to how some people think it should be, you may need to take them offline for maximum performance benefit, but note: when doing so you will no longer be able to view at 100% magnification. - try it and please report any differences you find, or don't find...
There are some system issues that may affect performance too, but trying to lay them all out here is beyond scope for me, and anyway has been done in numerous other threads.
PS - Consider giving numbers so other D800 users (or equivalent resolution) can help give you a feel for whether you're experiencing normal slow or abnormal slow.

Aperature can't read RAW files from my new Nikon D800. Help?

My Aperature is version 3.2.4 and I have done all the software updates. I shoot in both JPEG and RAW, but aperature can only read the JPEG's. Can anyone help?

The Nikon D800 raw support was included in "digital camera raw update 3.11", and that is the only one that I cannot find online any longer.
The raw support for Nikon D800 has now been moved directly into the latest MacOS X Releases - for MacOS X 10.7 it is built into MacOS X 10.7.4 or later, see: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4757

But according to this list: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3825, if you are still using Snow Leopard, you will need the raw support from "digital camera raw update 3.11". What is the latest raw support you installed?

Lightroom 4 Unable to Open Certain Nikon D800 NEFs

I have found support for Nikon D800 NEF files incomplete in Lightroom 4 with ACR 7.0.
NEF files created by the camera in 16:9 mode using the shutter release set to take stills (setting g4) cannot be previewed or imported in LR 4.
Setting g4 and the 16:9 mode are discussed in the Nikon D800/D800E User Guide on pages 324 and 68 respectively.
Photoshop with ACR 7.1 beta seems to be able to open these files.

Several threads on this. Bottom line - known issue, will be fixed.

I understand that I have presently an option to download the Beta version ACR 6.7 and it expires by May 31st.

I would expect Adobe to support the current version of LR with the current version of PS as usual.
Last time it was the opposite, but this time, LR4 with PV2012 came out, first, when CS5/ACR6.x was the current version so I would expect Adobe to release a final CS5-compatible ACR that knows how to render, but not adjust PV2012 recipes from LR4. This is what ACR 6.7RC attempts to do but with some luminance differences with certain PV2012 toning sliders near their extremes. Adobe rushed things a bit, this time, due to the D800 and 5D.3 cameras coming out about the same time and wanting to make big spenders happy sooner rather than later, so I expect they are taking extra time to get things right in the released versions of ACR 6.7, ACR 7 and LR 4.1. With CS6 also coming out, and the economy still on the rocks in many areas of the world and country, resources are stretched thing, but I expect all will resolve in time.

Can't open raw files from Nikon d800 in PS CS5 (Win7 64-bit). It says, the model not supported by Camera Raw. Tried updating Camera Raw plug-ins for d800 but keep getting error message: Update failed, Adobe Application Manager may be damaged. Re-install the latest application manager but still the same error message. How to fix?
