Is there a compatibility cutoff for CS with Mac OS X versions? Is CS6 compatible with 10.7. 10.8, 10.9 and/or 10.10? What is the compatibility cutoff if any?

  • CS6 compatibility with older macs (2007-2008), using Mavericks 10.9

I've heard about compatibility issues with older macs (2007-2008) when trying to run Adobe Creative Suite 6 Master Collection CS6 with Mavericks 10.9. Right now I'm using CS6 on my existing mid-2007, with Mountain Lion, -works great, and I'm worried if I upgrade to Mavericks there may be problems (based on FAQs)
I do lots of video editing/rendering and am looking into getting another back-up computer to speed up editing time. I'm looking at purchasing an older Apple Mac Pro Tower : 2008 : Xeon 8-core 2.8ghz : 16gb ram : 1TB hd. Will this run Adobe Creative Suite 6 Master Collection CS6 if I'm using Mavericks 10.9? If not, why?
Does the issue pertain to Mavericks with older macs, or is it CS6 with Mavericks, or what? Thanks!

  • Flash Pro CS6 compatibility with Win 8

Any news on this matter. I've got a full CC installation on a win 7 home laptop, and would like to upgrade it to Win 8 (using the new Win Pro upgrade dvd), what impact am i going to expect, licensing problems or perhaps complete breakdown of the Cloud!

It appears from this Adobe support list http://www.adobe.com/support/OScompatibility.html that Flash Pro CS6 is not yet compatible with Windows 8.
Have moved this post to the Flash Pro forum where someone can confirm this.

  • CS6 compatibility with CS4?

Does CS6 have the ability to save backwards to InDesign file compatible with CS4?

CS6 can save .idml files that can be opened in CS4 (and it's now available as a command in boththe export and Save As dialogs).  You will lose any unsupported features, and the list of them will be huge, and you can expect the text to flow somewhat differently in CS4. Unless this is a very simple document, it probably will not be satisfactory.

  • Is Adobe Bridge CS6 Compatable with Windows 8?

I'm thinking about upgrading but i really need to know if Bridge is going to work on Windows 8 for sure.

Wih computers there is no "will work for sure".  Otherwise there would be no need for these forums.
PS6 is just as likely to work on Win 7 and Win 8.
However, many computer gurus consider Win 8 is a step down from Win 7 as it is dumbed down to make it look and operate more like a phone or tablet.

  • Dreamweaver MX 2004 compatibility with latest versions?

Dreamweaver MX 2004 compatibility with latest versions?
I have templates in a old Dreamweaver MX 2004 and want to update my software. Will I need to go in steps to a version a few years back and then to current?  Or can I go all the way to current?
I also can't get my old dreamweaver to register anymore and they have NO support for it.  Any clues?  It is legit an I have the registration numbers and all the same but it won't take it for some reason.
thank you all for any support you can give.

HTML is HTML.  The product you use doesn't matter much except in terms of "ease of use" and quality of code it generates.  MX is a dinosaur.  Depending on how you built your sites with it, you may need to update your code to modern web standards.  But your site's code will remain editable in any version of DW.
That said, a LOT has changed in 10 years.  So if you don't have really strong coding skills in HTML and CSS, you will struggle with newer versions of DW.  The interface is different, too, so it will take some adjustment.
CS6 is the only version you can still purchase.

  • Compatability with Macos10.9.2

Hi I gave up using contribute as it was so unstable.  Really want to use it, thought I would try again, but down loading trial does not work, so thought I would check to see if it is compatable with Maverick.

According to this http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/mac-os-mavericks-compatability.html all Adobe CC and CS6 products are compatible with Maverick.
But you need to be sure to have all of the latest updates applied for some.

  • Photoshop CS5 compatibility with windows 7 and windows 8

    Hello,
I do not understand the technical side of computers - I just use them for my work as a photographer
I have Photoshop CS5 32 bit installed on my PC with Vista home premium. I am buying a new PC with 64 bit Windows 7 installed, and it also has the option to upgrade for free to Windows 8 pro.
Will my CS5 work on windows 7 and if I take the free upgrade will it work on Windows 8 pro?
Does it matter that CS5 is 32 bit and the new PC will be 64 bit?
I don't want to get the free upgrade if it means my CS5 won't work on it, as I am happy wioth CS5 and do not need to upgrade to CS6 yet.
    Many thanks
    Tog Porter

Photoshop CS5 is a 32/64 bit application, so when you install it on your new system it will install both 32 and 64 bit versions by default.  This will give you compatibility with your 32 bit plug-ins, as well as 64 bit capability to edit large documents.
You may want to avoid the upgrade to Windows 8 at this time.  It's still immature and the drivers (e.g., for ATI video cards) leave something to be desired.  Plus, in general Windows 8 doesn't offer any compelling new features over Windows 7 (and actually removes some very useful one) - unless you really want the silly full-screen Metro/Modern games they offer at their new App Store.
If you DO decide to install the Windows 8 upgrade, I recommend you take whatever steps are necessary to install the new system as a full, virgin installation, rather than trying to upgrade the Windows 7 system you already have installed - and by this I mean you should NOT take the "keep programs and settings" upgrade, but do a Custom installation and install Windows 8 as though on a blank disk.  Operating systems installed as upgrades to prior versions virtually never work right.
In any case, after having run Photoshop on Windows 7 for a while, you'll want to DEactivate your Adobe software before making the transition (you can do this through the Help menu), then reactivate it after you're up on the new system.  This keeps control of your activation/licensing in your hand.
I strongly suggest you read up on Windows 8 before deciding to upgrade.  You'll find a lot of experts agree that it's not an improvement over Windows 7, which is hard to imagine because all prior versions - even Vista - have been improvements over their predecessors.

  • Mavericks compatibility with cs 4?

Any experiences about Mavericks OSX compatibility with Adobe CS4 applications (Photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator)?
I have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and was planning to upgrade to Mountain Lion in order to use iCloud. But more importantly I am worried of how other applications will work. Apparently Apple doesn't even sell Mountain Lion anymore.
I have Macbook Pro (late 2008/2009 model) with 4GB of RAM.
    Thank you!

Unfortunately, I discovered too late that Mavericks renders my CS4 dysfunctional. Like wsrphoto indicated, it won't open image files. It will open the Raw preview screen, but when you attempt to open a file from there... nothing. No image. Nor will it open jpgs. When you close Photoshop, however, it asks if you want to "save the file"... pointless.
My visit to the Genius Bar only resulted in them telling me my computer was fine and if I wanted to go back to Lion, I'd have to wipe my computer clean. Grrr!
It would have been nice for Apple - or Adobe -  to warn users that Mavericks would create this problem. It has profoundly disrupted my workflow and now I've either got to wipe my computer clean to downgrade back to Lion, or put out the money to buy CS6 - which I really didn't need. Not happy AT ALL.
Upgrades shouldn't be suggested only to end up creating problems...

  • Indesign cc and incopy cs6 - compatibility

if i update to indesign cc, will i still have full compatibility with existing incopy cs6 editors/users?

Ah right, yes, good point. We never use that method, only assignments. I Guess an INDD file would be another story indeed! Will test. But hey, never open an INDD, to big, use assigments always! ;-)

  • Audition CS6 working with Mavericks 10.9.4

    Hello,
I am considering purchasing Audition CS6 outright instead of the subscription as the outlay with CC stacks up fast for a single app user.
Can anyone tell me if there are any issues using Audition CS6 with Mavericks 10.9.4? How long do you think I would be able to use this version of the software before running into compatibility issues?
    Thanks,
    Karen

    Hi,
I cannot answer your direct question, but I can tell you that, while I was on a Mac and went from CS6 to CC and CC 2014, the advances were huge...I could never imagine going back to CS6. If you use any elements of the suite, I would highly recommend the CC membership $30/mnth for the 1st year, $50/m after. It's a great write off / operating expense...about the price of a cell phone...would you go without a phone?  Plus, you would never have to worry about OS compatibility with future releases.
    My two cents..

  • Is CS6 compatible with Win8 Pro

Is CS6 compatible with Win8 Pro?

Microsoft does seem to care about backward compatibility so I wouldn’t be too concerned about CS6.
I would think anything that runs on Win 7 should be fine on Win 8. That said, I wouldn’t push my luck with anything older than CS5 but it wouldn’t surprise me to see CS3 and later working okay.
