Is CS6 Mixer Brush more advanced than CS5 Mixer Brush?

I'm comparing the CS5 & CS6 mixer brush, with moist, light mix, right now...
At first I wondered why the CS6 mixer brush was slower, until I realized that it looks like the actual brush stroke in CS6 is more advanced. The CS6 stroke looks like it's calculating the overlapping brush strokes & it's interaction with the texture more accurately to real life.
I haven't read any articles on improvements to the CS6 mixer brush. Has it actually improved or are my settings just different in CS6 from CS5? I'm just wondering, since I'll probably need to work with "Sample All Layers" unchecked when working with the CS6 mixer brush.

After playing with the mixer brush for a while in cs5 & cs6 I've come to the conclusion that cs6's mixer brush is simply slower than cs5's mixer brush when "Sample All Layers" is checked (there are only two layers in the 3000 x 2000 file). The cs5 & cs6 mixer brush gives pretty close to the same results.

Why does Photoshop CC and CS6 render 3D objects differently than CS5? Getting weird textures and shadows

I've been searching the web unsuccessfully to see if anyone else has experienced this issue:
Our company had quite a few custom 3D models made of our packages (OBJ and DAE format), which we were able to wrap and render in PS CS5 with great success. Once we updated to CS6 and then CC, we experienced:
– bizarre shadows when opening CS5 files and rerendering
– strange textures when importing the models from scratch in CS6 or CC
I've attached an image showing some of the oddities.
I'm working on a MacBook Pro with OS 10.8.5 16GB memory.
Cache Tile size 1024K; 4 cache levels, "Basic" Graphics Processor setting (I've tried Advanced and None with no difference)
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M OpenGl Engine
The frustrating thing is it doesn't happen on all models; some OBJ files work fine.
We may have to stick to using CS5 for our 3D models, but that's very limiting when working with freelancers.
Any insight is MUCH appreciated!

Is Premier Pro CS6 better to edit AVCHD than CS5?

I am presently at Creative Studio CS5 that I have used to edit DV with Premier Pro CS5 successfully. I also use other applications in Creative Studio and mocha Pro V3.
I upgraded to a hex core computer with SSD and 2 RAID HDs to decrease rendering times and better performance for AVCHD. Now that I have upgraded from DV to AVCHD, is upgrading to CS6 a better choice to edit AVCHD files?

I don't remember any performance difference between the two, but there are several feature differences that make CS6 a worthy upgrade. Specifically, Adjustment Layers first appeared in CS6. I'd hate to go back to editing without those.

Export from CS6 is crashing (more often than not)

Almost every time I Export from CS6 it crashes.
I'm mainly exporting H.264 @ 720p & 1080p with Android, YouTube & Vimeo presets, but it also crashes using WMV.
I thought I'd try it with GPU acceleration turned off, but no difference.
Set-up:
Premiere Pro version: 6.0.3.0 (from Creative Cloud app manager).
Windows 7 64bit (SP1).
Various source footage from: iPhone MOV, DVCAM (AVI) and 1080p H.264 from Canon 5D MkII.
Error messages are either 'Error compiling movie' or the application stops responding.
Other software running includes Crashplan, Bulldog AV and monitor calibration.
No third-party effects or codecs are installed.
QuickTime is up to date.
Hardware:
Core i7 3770 @3.4GHz (Ivy Bridge)
8GB RAM
Asus P8Z77-M mobo
Hazro 27" monitor @ 2560x1440
OCZ Agility SSD
GeForce GTX 460 (Mercury GPU enabled)

ACR processing in CS6 much slower than CS5

A big advantage of hosting ACR in 64 bit CS5 vs in bridge was that then ACR would process multiple images at once when saving them to jpg which would reduce processing times by 30% or more. For some reason this doesn't seem to be the case with CS6. I just did a short test and CS6 won't process multiple images at once, and was 33% slower than CS5 at saving a batch of 5dmkii images to jpeg.
Has anyone else noticed this? Hopefully this limitation is due to beta status and the final release of ACR will be fully optimized for 64bit processing.

It seems strange that their is hardly any improvement in 64 bit cs6 speed vs 32 bit cs5.    I agree, gpu support for acr would great!

Bridge in CS5 was 32 bit only, and I observed the 32 bit converter as run by Bridge (or Photoshop 32 bit) wouldn't exercise all the cores, so the way I interpret your numbers is as follows:
1. ACR7 is 50% slower than its predecessor (34.25 seconds when run in Photoshop 64 bit vs. 22.59).
2. Bridge is now 64 bit, so you're running the same code in both cases, which is why you're seeing essentially the same number in Bridge as Photoshop.

CS6 Mixer Brush Dead Spot Near Top Left of Screen

Hey,
I'm just wondering if anyone else has this issue.
The CS6 mixer brush stops painting and turns into a hand icon, with only the index finger out, when I paint near the top left of my screen. It's about 3 inches from the left and 2 inches from the top.
I don't have this problem in CS5.5/CS5.1 or CS5.
Does anyone know what the hand icon with only index finger out is for? It's not the move tool icon.

....I should also add that I'm using Win7 and a Cintiq.
...and I should add that the standard brushes don't have this problem in CS6.

That sounds like what happens if the brush preview window is visible in that area.
(View>Show>Brush Preview)
Are you using one of the bristle brushes with the mixer brush?
Does it make any difference if you use a standard round brush with the mixer brush?
Have you installed all the updates for photoshop cs6?

The CS5.5 code is no different than CS5. I can't say from personal experience whether the newest code is better; I've been able to get good results from both.

I am finding that in CS6, JS code runs MUCH slower than ActionScript code. I don't want to double-post here - Full details may be found where I posted them in the InDesign Scripting forum at - CS6 JavaScript Running Much Slower than ActionScript, before I realized that this forum might be more appropriate.
The basic gist of it is that I had a Flex/ActionScript Extension, which I obviously needed to start converting to JavaScript in advance of the next version not supporting ActionScript. I converted 20,000 lines of my business logic code from ActionScript to JavaScript (grrr...) - only to find that it now runs 5 times slower than it did in ActionScript.
What has been the experience of others who have converted large Extensions from ActionScript to JavaScript?
I would greatly appreciate any and all suggestions.

iTunes does not handle the import of photos/videos from the iPhone's Camera Roll.
If this is not the computer you sync your iPhone with, you should have been provided a warning message that your iPhone is associated with an iTunes library on another computer and when trying to transfer any iTunes content from a different computer, a warning message is provided indicating that all iTunes content on the iPhone will be erased first.
When connecting an iPhone to iTunes on another computer, none of the options under the various tabs for the iPhone sync preferences with iTunes are selected automatically. This means you had to select Sync Contacts under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes on your wife's computer.
Assuming you are syncing contacts with a supported address book app on your computer, connect your iPhone to Tunes on your computer and without syncing, under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences below the Advanced section, select Contacts for replace info on this iPhone followed by a sync.
For importing photos/videos from the Camera Roll which can be done with a computer that is not used for syncing the iPhone since syncing with iTunes is not involved.

How long is a page on the sender side? If it is a long page like a legal page, it may end up in in 2 pages in the receiver side. Also check on the receiver end, if it is set to 'auto reduction - off' this may happen, try turning it "on".
Also if the sender page is not a long page, try observing the paper that is going into the ADF, it should be 1 page at a time, if pages goes into the ADF continueously, it suggest that ADF is could be faulty.
Set automatic reduction for incoming faxes (for HP printers only)
The Automatic Reduction setting determines what the printer does if it receives a fax that is too large
for the default paper size. This setting is turned on by default, so the image of the incoming fax is
reduced to fit on one page, if possible. If this feature is turned off, information that does not fit on the
first page is printed on a second page. Automatic Reduction is useful when you receive a Legal-size
fax and Letter-size paper is loaded in the main tray.
To set automatic reduction from the printer control panel
1. From the printer control panel display, touch and slide your finger across the screen and then
touch Setup.
2. Touch Fax Setup.
3. Touch Advanced Fax Setup.
4. Touch Automatic Reduction to turn on or off.

Summoning max. courage, I did what you advised. Here is the result. What does this tell you? My Lion 7.2 (mid 2011 iMac) has several annoying glitches (which I have so far tolerated through gritted teeth) but none that have actually stopped me working.
BTW, I see several items involving CleanMyMac which I did not know I had. It is generally villified as a trouble-maker. Spotlight can't find an app. or a utility of that name. How can I get rid of what's there please? Just delete?

Audition CS6: Why no more 64 bit version of Audition? There used to be 64 bit Audition in CS5.5.

The biggest hurdle is plug-ins. If they could figure out a reliable way to wrap 32-bit plug-ins for 64-bit platforms, they'd probably make the transition more quickly, but a lot of the plug-in developers have been slow to make the jump. I imagine Audition will be 32-bit for at least one more release.

ITunes v. 7.x scrolls more slowly than iTunes 6.x?

This is a minor question compared to some of the issues I've seen here (crashes, loss of music, etc.) but it's still rather annoying to me. I upgraded to iTunes 7.0.2 about a week back and while I like the new sorting options and a few of the other new things, one thing I do not like is the fact that when I use the up/down arrow keys, or click on the up/down arrows in the scrollbar, it sure as **** seems like the music list scrolls much more slowly than it used to.
If the bar highlighting the current song is on the screen and I use it to scroll up and down through songs already displayed currently, it moves up and down at the usual speedy rate. It's only when it hits the very top or bottom that it slows down to a crawl.
Am I crazy, or is this something that was introduced with the latest version? If so, is there a way to revert to the previous speedy scrolling? Pressing the PgUp/PgDn keys or clicking on the bar itself to scroll a page at a time often goes farther than I want it to.

How to avoid invoicing more quantity than the PO's in non stock PO?

Hello SAPients!
Scenario: We create a non stock PO with a material that has no number and no material group, when we use MIRO TCode to invoice it we can create the invoice with more quantity than the PO, we can even keep adding quantity to the invoice.
How can we stop that? How can we configure our system in order to create the invoice with the exact (or less) quantity than the stated in the PO?

1. M8 -081 Quantities invoiced greater than goods receipt quantity as ERROR ( maintain GR-based IV in the PO item level )
2.M8 -087( item without GR ) - Invoice quantity greater than PO quantity as ERROR & save.
Now try doing MIRO.
NOTE: If the above setting not work ,then Maintain the messages M8 -081 & M8 -087 as ERROR in OBMSG t.code & save.

More Advanced FCE Training Book

Hi All:
I've finished Tom's book FCE 4 Editing Workshop - it was fantastic, but I feel like I've just touched the tip of the iceberg.
I have almost finished creating my first DVD for sale, it's very basic, but it gets the material that I want out to the public, so fine.
But I want to make the next in the series even more professional.
So do I take classes at the Apple Store, does Tom have a more advanced book? Do I just start playing with everything and learn as I go?
What would you do?
Also is there a way to put a picture within a picture? I recorded some of my shots with 2 cameras, I'd like the main camera to be the main focus but have a small box of a different view in the upper right or left corner? Couldn't find reference to that in the book.

If you have really studied and +learned everything+ in Tom's book there is very little else you can do.
I consider that his book has far more in it than most editors will ever need to know.
If you want to do more advanced things it is a matter of combining and honing the skills you already have.
Picture In Picture .... Page 239 etc.
