Is Custom print package "rotate to fit" still not implemented?

On Dec 2, Al-R started a discussion thead for LR3 beta about a problem he was having with rotating an image to fit a frame he created using the Custom Print Package. He couldn't get the image to rotate to fit. I get the sense that the "rotate to fit" check box wasn't available. I never downloaded the beta of LR3 so I don't know this for sure, but that seemed to be the case based on the dialogue in his thread.
Ian Lyons solved the mystery by pointing out that the Custom Print Package feature was not complete in the beta, and that Rotate To Fit was one of the things that hadn't been implemented. He said he expected it to be implemented in the final shipping release.
While the Rotate To Fit check box is now available in the Custom Print Packate (shipping version 3.0), it doesn't have the intended effect. When dropping a portrait image onto a landscape frame in the Custom Print Package, the frame is ignored and the image expands to fit the paper size. Checking Rotate To Fit on and off has no effect. The only work-around I have found is to rotate the image prior to dropping it on the frame. Once the orientations match, the image fills the frame properly.
Is this a case of the feature not making it into the final release, or is this a bug, or am I missing something really important here?
Thanks for your help,
Charlie

  • How to print Photo Info in the Custom Print Package

I am  using LR CC, latest version on a Windows7 PC.
I am trying to print Photo Info in the Custom Print package. I have no trouble selecting Photo Info in the Single Image/Contact Sheet Layout Style, but when I switch to the Custom Print Package, the Photo Info check box in the Page panel, disappears. I can't find any reference to this in the manual as to why this would occur, or not be available.
Appreciate any help with this matter.
    Best Regards
    Steve

    Hi,
Have a look at: Lightroom Help | Print module layouts and templates
Only on the Single Image and Contact Sheet layouts can you " ... print information about photos, such as the filename, title, caption, and keywords ..."

  • Save custom print package

I recently purchased Lightroom 3 because I assemble my pictures in albums consisting of photo collages. I recently switched my photo processing from PSE 8 to Photoshop CS5, primarily because Elements is not a 64 bit program. I purchased Lightroom 3 beause I read of it’s versatile picture package capability. Amazon also made it affordable. My problem is I am on a steep learning curve with two complex systems at the same time and currently can’t make Lightroom do what I think it should do. Namely save a created custom picture package. I have 2 issues.
After creating a custom picture package, I want to save the collage in my album folder, either as a Tiff, jpeg or PSD file. I can’t seem to find any way to do that and a search in the help file reluctantly leads me to the conclusion it can’t be done.
Secondly, I discovered, other than a name plate, there apparently is no way to add text to a picture package. I sometimes like to add talk bubbles and descriptive text to either the pictures or the background. If I could save the picture package or export it to CS5 I would do this in CS5.
I have to believe I am missing something because I can’t imagine Adobe would provide the ability to create a custom picture package and not the ability to save it as an image. My recollection is that Elements does, why not Lightroom?
I know I can save templates, but I want to save the composite image. Please, someone help

If you scroll down to the bottom of the right-hand panel in the Print module (Print Job), you can choose "JPEG File" from the "Print to:" pull-down menu. TIFF and PSD aren't possible, AFAIK.
That is correct, jpegs only to export from the print module. Although you could print to a PDF which may then be editable in PS.

  • Black not printing - did all recommended steps, still not printing

I tried all the steps recommended in other posts. Still not printing black. If I replace the printhead, will that solve the problem?

    Hello @MN8  and @WHMaggie,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you are both experiencing quality issues when printing in black ink from your HP Officejet 6500 All-in-One Printers. I would like to offer some additional assistance with resolving this issue.
Can I please have you both click here to access the troubleshooting steps. Once the support document opens please check Steps 1-5 to ensure that no steps have been missed. If you have completed those 5 steps to no avail, please proceed with Step 7 and Step 8 to manually clean and soak the Printhead mechanism.
Should the issue persist after cleaning the Printhead manually than the next step would be to replace the Printhead. The Printhead is the part that the cartridges fit into. It controls 'reading' the cartridges and putting ink on the page. If you're experiencing cartridge detection or quality issues and a replacement cartridge fails to resolve the issue than the next step would be to replace the Printhead mechanism. There is always a chance that the print system within the actual Officejet is defective. Should that be the case than a replacement Printhead will not resolve the issue and a whole unit replacement would be needed. If your printers are Out of Warranty I would recommend contacting our Technical Support queue by phone to explore replacement Printhead and printer options.
HP Technical Support can be reached at: 800-474-6836.

We've called Verizon at least 7 times and asked them to correct this problem.  Everyone has a different answer.  Today, they said we needed to take the batteries out of all of our landline phones to "clear the memory" and that would fix it.  Still not fixed.  I don't think anybody at Verizon knows how to change the caller ID banner !

  • My printer isn't printing. i replaced cartridges, and still not printing.

We were trying to make a copy and kept getting blank pages. I replaced the black, blue, and magenta cartridges. I still can't get black to print though. I can get a little of magenta and blue to print. I tried printing an email and got some of those colors, but if I try to make a copy, I get nothing but blank paper.

    hi there 333crown,
could you provide the community with a little more information to narrow troubleshooting? Things like your operating system and the printer model usually help considerably.

  • OSX Mavericks 10bit color space still not implemented?

Is it possible that Apple does not further care about graphic designers?
The whole working chain is ready, from Graphic Cards (running under OSX), Cables (Displayport), Displays (Eizo, NEC) to Software (Photoshop cs+ for example).
Why the hack is OSX not supporting this key feature for professinal image processing. It's quite usefull to preview the whole Adobe RGB color space and even more usefull for black and white images because 8bit is just not enough here.
I am quite annoyed, it's possible on Microsoft Windows sinces years, at least since Windows 7, but who wants to work with it if not forced...
I think i remember it was promissed for Lion and then dropped from the features list and never appeared again.
Just sad, hope an update will finally make this feature available. I think quite some people are desperately waiting for this.
    regards
    marc

I totally agree its bull ****!!!!!

  • Converting colour profile of final print package before printing

How do I convert the colour profile of a Lightroom custom printing package from Adobe Prophoto to sRGB before printing? For that matter, how do I save the thing? I have no interest in saving the template, or the collection separately, since neither has any use without the other. And without saving them as one finished item, I have no way to convert the colour profile of that item. I can see clearly from the appearance of the print preview that the above mentioned colour profile conversion is required.

You cannot change the profile in Lr to <sRGB>.
If you want to print sRGB, select  <Managed by Printer> for Color Profile under Color Management.
Then in your printer's dialog select <sRGB> instead of <Application managed> (or similar wording - depending on your printer).
BTW: the term is not "Adobe proPhoto" it's "proPhoto RGB".

  • Print Module: Auto-Rotate to fit and Photo Info Text

When in the print module with "Auto-Rotate to fit" selected, A landscape images correctly rotates to fit the page, but the text that is selected in the "Photo Info" setting does not rotate. Thus, the text appears along the left side of the image .
Any suggestions to get it to appear correctly on the bottom?
Also, Font size is selectable but not font type.

  • Lightroom 2.7 custom photo package printing

When I try to  print a custom photo package (multiple 4x6 images) on 16x20 photo paper, the individual prints come out slilghtly different in size relative to the 4x6 format.  I am using bordereless printing on a 16" roll (epson 7800) and I snap each pic to pic on the layout. The interior pics print  1/16"oversized of the 4x6 size, the edge pics print undersize by 1/8".  When I reduce the number of pics on the layout and leave a gap between each pic on the layout the pics print all oversize by about an 1/8".  The lightroom print controls;  Photo Border is not checked, Inner Stroke is not checked, Zoom to fill is checked.
My question is- Can lightroom 2.7 print actual 4x6 prints using the custom photo package w/borderless printing?  If I layout four 4x6 pics side by side so that the entire width of the 16" paper is used, can I get lightroom and my printer (epson7800) to actually print each borderless photo exactly 4" instead of oversizing the two inner pics and thus shortening the two edge pics due to the oversizing of the two inner pics?  Am I missing an adjustment I need to make on the printer properties or the lightroom page setup?  Thanks for any help.

You may need to download the package again.

  • LaserJet CP1025NW Color Printer - Weird cranking noise when printing or rotating carousel

Just out the package today, the first time turning on the printer, during all print jobs and when rotating the cartridges, the carousel is making a weird cranking noise coming from the left side of the printer. I understand that this printer does make the winding/power-up sound, but this cranking noise is in addition to the normal sound.
I find this odd because I use the exact same printer at work and it does not make this noise and I am afraid that it is a faulty mechanism within the printer.
I have checked to make sure that I removed all packaging from inside the printer and removed all cartridges and replaced them. I would think that all pieces that need to be removed would be bright orange. Also, the print jobs are not affected by the cranking noise.
Does anyone else have this problem?

    Hi saidthegirl
I understand the printer is noisy but will print.
I have included the document for setting up the printer, to take a look at where all the packing material is located.

If the printer is making unusual noise and you are using the toner that shipped with the printer then I would recommend to call HP Tech Support for further assistance to see what other options are available for you.

  • Image processor - rotate to fit?

Anyone know what happened to the Rotate to Fit feature in bridge/tools/photoshop/image processor? I have to make several web photo galleries and this most important feature seems to be missing with CS4.

It is still there as it was in the lost couple of version as I try to
recall. Open an image, choose File/Automate/Fit Image and you can fill in
    the constrain proportions.
You can record this in an action to run a batch.
However, it is very, very easy to select landscape and portrait images in
Bridge using the filter panel and inhere choose orientation. Click on
landscape and all landscape orientated images show, select them and run a
    batch using the menu tools/Photoshop/batch.
Photoshop CS4 doesn't have that option so I have to go through all of my
images, select all the landscape images, put in 600 wide x 400 tall, and run
the script. Then gotta Go Back... select all of the Portrait images.. and run
the script again but this time for 600 tall x 400 wide. Such a pain - gotta be
a better way just haven't found it yet! help!

  • Problem with custom print dialog in Illustrator cs3 on OS X

    Hello Illustrator Support Forum,
I am an IT systems administrator and I have a user that has a problem when printing from Illustrator to our Ricoh photocopier.  The problem is that Illustrator uses its own custom print dialog and not the default mac os x system one.  This prevents the print job from going through because it does not send the required user code along with the print job.
A work around we found was to print to Adobe Distiller creating a pdf then printing from there but this definately not ideal.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you,
    - Vince

    Hi Larry,
Thanks for the tip.  This makes it a bit easier of a work-around but its still not a fix for the initial problem of printing directly through Illustrator.

  • Custom DTS package migration from BPC 4.2 ,SQL 2000 to BPC 7.0 M , SQL 2005

Is there any changes required in the custom dts package when migration from BPC 4.2 , sql 2000 Environment to bpc 7.0 , SQL 2005/2008  Environment.
    or
Please suggest process for migrating  custom dts package from BPC 4.2 ,SQL 2000 Envirnment to BPC 7.0 ,SQL 2005/2008 Environment

When you say "custom dts package" that can mean many different things. What type of customization has been done?
There are a few BPC-related features which changed from 4.2, which must be manually adjusted, if you're using those features.
But SQL itself also changed dramatically in moving from SQL 2000 to 2005. So if your customer's packages are heavily customized around SQL 2000, this may require substantial re-work.
The only migration process for custom DTS packages -- that I'm aware of -- is to use the SQL 2005 migration tool in SSIS, see how much it messed up, and then fix everything else that's still broken.
But there also may be opportunities to improve the package overall. SQL 2005 has a lot of great new features in SSIS, over what was there in SQL 2000.
I haven't started working with SQL 2008 yet, so I can't say what complexity there is in upgrading DTS packages from 2005 to 2008. From what I read in the BPC 7 release notes, it sounds like it's a very minor upgrade, compared to the jump from 2000 to 2005.

  • Pro-100 Custom Printer Profiles

Has anyone had success in using a custom printer profile with this printer. Glossy generic Canon paper profiles work ok but are not completely on the money. I get a little too much red. I had a custom profiles created by reputable 3rd party provider for a variety of Canon papers. When I use them to print the test sheets the anomalies are dramatic.  Instead of smooth transition of colors steps and anomalies are are printed throughout the test sheet. When I print the Macbeth color chart an example of how far the colors are off one could not find the red square on the printed output. Thinking the provider had a bad day I asked him to do it again. There was no change in the results. I then went out and bought an Xrite Color Munkie. I have the same results as with the 3rd party provider's color profile.
Previously I used custom profiles with the i9900 for years. Still using the same computer and software; CS5 and Vista 64 bit OS. I let Photoshop manage the colors, I select the custom profile,  check Manual on the print driver screens, and select None for Color Correction on the Matching tab. Am I missing something?

I tried the Color Correction to None and when i started from scratch and redid my profiles it worked! Thank you
What I find troubling is where is this explained in the manuals or help? If this is a "professional printer" then custom profiles are going to be used.
Where is the expalnation for the other options on this screen particularly ICM. When it is chosen I only see Paper company profiles. Why do I not see my custom profiles (see link on previous comment)? When I press Help I get the following:
"ICM (ICC Profile Matching) Adjusts the colors by using an ICC profile when printing. Specify the input profile, printer profile, and rendering intent to be used." If your major software products from Adobe and Apple do the color management why is this here?  Somewhere in the internet, not at Canon site, I see its purpose is for applications that do not control the color management.  Which begs the question how many users who use  that kind of software are going to look, find, and understand this screen and color profiles.
Sorry after losing a lot of time and money I have to vent at Canon.   I do appreciate the help. Thanks again.
