Is data saved on device when using cloud

Trying to dtermine if i need a 32 or 64 gig phone if using cloud. Is data, photos,video stored off-device? Or does cloud stoe a duplicate?

It depends on the data.
Calendar, Contacts and Mail are stored on both devices and iCloud
Photos, up to a 1000, are stored on iCloud and pushed and stored on both iCloud and your mobile device
Music is stored on iCloud until you download it and then it is stored on both your device and iCloud.
iCloud is NOT a true music or photo streaming service so much as a pass through service.
If you have a lot of music and photos, you might want to consider the 64 gb.

When using Family Sharing, it appears that all family members have the ability to lock and erase all devices that are linked to the family account. This does not seem very secure. For example, I wouldn't want my disgruntled family member to arbitrarily lock or erase devices, remotely.

Data Guard: db_file_name_convert/log_file_name_convert when using ASM/OMF

All,
I have a call currently open with Oracle regarding the setting of the parameters db_file_name_convert and log_file_name_convert in a data guard environment. We use ASM / OMF for storage and file naming and my question is basically do these parameters have to be set. The documentation says they do where the file structure is different between PRIMARY and STANDBY.
I have successfully tested failover and switchover without these parameters. I have also added a new tablespace on the PRIMARY and watched it create a new OMF datafile on standby when the logs are switched.
I just can't see a reason for setting them when using ASM / OMF.
I'm hoping someone can enlighten me here because I'm getting nowhere whith support. The following is our Data Guard setup:

I'm having similar thoughts.
I have created a new instance with files in asm under +datadisk/obosact (this is the smae name as primary)
I then modify the db_unique_name from obosact to obosactdr as is required for standby to work
When I recover (duplicate target database for standby; ) I find that the files are in datadisk/obosactdr not in the datadisk/obosact area

4. Connect to the ASM instance on one standby host, and create a directory within the DATA disk group that has the same name as the DB_UNIQUE_NAME of the standby database. For example: SQL> ALTER DISKGROUP data ADD DIRECTORY '+DATA/BOSTON';
This step seems to indicate that the location of the files is determined by the db_unique_name not the db_file_name_convert paramenter

Data cleansing: Clipboard error when using bupa_clear

Hello,
When using BUPA_CLEAR transaction to process cleansing cases, dragging and dropping some objects from one BP to another produces the message "Clipboard does not contain any data" and the object is not copied to the new BP.
An example:
BP 1 has a folder 'Business Transactions' with sub-folders 'CRM Service Processes' and 'CRM Business Activity'. The 'CRM Service Processes' contains 1 service ticket object. the 'CRM Business Activity' contains 1 interaction record object. The other main level folders are Address Usage and Sales Classification.
BP 2 only has 'Address Usage' and 'Sales Classification' folders as it has no interactions or tickets against it.
When dragging and dropping the folder 'Business Transactions' (or any of it's sub-folders/objects) from BP1 to BP2, I get the message 'Clipboard does not contain any data'.
Is there a fix or workaround to this? Or am I doing something wrong?

Found out the simple answer to a dumb problem:
You must drag-and-drop the ICON (Folder icon, document icon) of the object that you are moving, not just the text of the object. Dragging the icon will highlight the icon and the name of what you are trying to move and it will then move to the appropraite folder without giving the clipboard error.

Problems with USB device when using WindowsNT

Hi,
my problem is that I want to use a simulator which can only be connected with USB to the computer.
I used the VISA Driver Development Wizard as discribed in this link (http://zone.ni.com/devzone/conceptd.nsf/webmain/6792BAB18242082786256DD7006B6416) and it didn't work.
I'm using Windows NT and VISA 3.1 and I read that it isn't possible to create a USB connection with VISA when using Windows NT. So my questions
1) is this right
2) Has someone a idea what I can do? I tried to use VISA USB Control and this also didn't work.
I hope I discribed my problem detailed enough. It's my first post.

As you can see in this table, USB is not supported by VISA under NT:

I would recommend to use Win2000 or XP. Using one of these OSes you could use this turorial to create your VISA-driver:

If it is not posssible to change the OS, you have to look for other ways of programming your usb-device. Check the web or the Microsoft site for help concerning Windows SDK and USB.

Cannot return data in Discoverer report when using specific AR tables/views

When using any of the following tables (logged in as Administrator responsibility), I get no data returned...
AR_RECEIVABLE_APPLICATIONS
AR_PAYMENT_SCHEDULES
RA_CUSTOMER_TRX
RA_CUSTOMER_TRX_ALL
When running in TOAD or SQL Plus, I have to set my Org ID to return data. It was my assumption that the security calls would automatically do that in Discoverer when setup as an APPS mode EUL. Discoverer 10g is the version.
Pulling anything from any of those tables results in no rows returned in Discoverer. Is there a special security call I must make in the SQL?

If you brose data only from AR.RA_CUSTOMER_TRX_ALL do you get any data?
From the 4 "tables" you mentioned this is the only TABLE while all other are views with security mechanism in it.
In the finance the system administrator is not defined so that it will see the whole data, you need to log in using a proper responsibility.
If you already have the sys admin then open the application and add to yourself AR responsibilities such as "%AR Manager", "%AR Superuser" .
After that you can log in with those responsibilities and you'll get the data.

JDev 9.0.3.3 Data not saved to DB when using Non-Transaction DataSource

We have successfully deployed our application in 3-tier(remote mode) in JDev 9.0.3.2. using JClient, EO/VO, EJB Session Facade (BMT).
Now we are planning to use JDev 9.0.3.3 (build 1205)
We are using ejb.txn.type=local and Weblogic DataSource(non-txn).
In JDev 9033, after commit the data is not getting saved to DB. No errors in the log below.
This works fine in JDev 9032.
This does not work with simple Master Detail and also with single row simple form.

I tried to reproduce your problem, but couldn't. Let me explain what steps I executed and perhaps you can advise where I've not matched your steps.
--Using build jdeveloper 9.0.3.3.1203, I built a new bc4j project containing a dept-emp default bc4j project (deptEntity, empEntity, deptView, empView, deptempFKAssoc, deptempFKViewLink, ApplicationModule).
--In dos shell, I went to the directory \jdevdir\jdev\bin and ran setvars -go to set the correct jdk version
--In the dos shell, in the directory \jdevdir\j2ee\home I executed the following command to install oc4j:
java -jar oc4j.jar (defaults pswd to welcome for admin)
--I remoted the appmodule to EJB Session Bean (BMT) and created a new deployment profile using the 9ias configuration for the application module.
--I deployed the bc4j objects to oc4j
--I created a new project
--In this project I created a new jclient master-detail form using the above project's application module for the data model
--I saved all and compiled the jclient project
--I ran the jclient form and inserted a master record
--I committed the transaction successfully
--I browsed records, then edited a record
--I committed the transaction successfully, then browsed.
Is there something I've missed? Did you migrate your project and not start by creating a new project? Is there something special about the database schema you are using?

IPhone 5 data network stops working when using GPS

Hello,
I have a strange problem for some time now. The DATA connection in GPS apps stop working when navigating. When I use Google maps or WAZE apps the first time after rebooting the device, everything is working just fine for first address search, but after beginning the navigation, DATA network disappears only for the navigation app, browsing is working just fine (a bit slowly, but fine).
Tried to factory reset the device few times, and changed the carrier provider, didn't help
Any ideas???

When using cloud backup, what files does it make sense not to back up?

I have signed up with Zipcloud for cloud back up of files (after both time capsule and seagate external drives failed on me).
It's been a few days and I am very frustrated by what was not explained before I signed up, such as upload times, etc.
I ask my question about what files it might make sense not to back up to the cloud, because at the rate of backing up 4-8 GB a day (which is what Ziplcoud says to expect) it will take 3 months to back up all my data! Seems crazy.
Also, although I have been told by Zipcloud that there software will not interfere with my computer's performance, my experience is to the contrary. Coincidence? Wondering about the experience of others in terms of impact on computer's performance?
I welcome general opiions and experiences with cloud backup as well as the answers to my specific questions. I also am open to suggestions of reliable affordable back-up companies with support.
Zipcloud's email based support could not be much more frustrating! I send a question that doesn't really get addressed with my original question dropped from the reply so that I need to repeat my question—each answer coming from a different customer service person, no continuity within the same issue, no real resolution.
Is cloud back up really worth it?? And back to my original question, for which files and for which files not to bother.

Cloud based storage should not be considered a data archive due to security concerns, and the transient ephemeral nature of cloud storage which can only be quasi-possessed.
There is no such thing as "cloud storage"........ Cloud storage just means 1000s of HD in a building

HD life varies, but barring mechanical failure, 3-8 years typically.
Some advantages of a cloned hard drive:
If you do an option key startup at boot you can directly boot to your cloned drive externally and operate from same like normal.
Sandboxing: With the help of the Cloned Drive, you can perform sandboxing, or the testing of new software, their updates and applications before they are installed on your Mac system. Moreover, if there are issues with the system, you can troubleshoot them by booting off the Clone. Many people test new APPS or experiment with a secondary clone and never worry about a failure or serious issue since the internal HD is untouched and the secondary clone can be wiped afterwards if any major issue occurs in testing. This is an invaluable tool in many instances.
If you sell you computer for purchase of a new one, you can take the clone you have on hand and install same or clone it to the new internal drive of your new Mac.
As it turns out one of the huge positive benefits of a clone is that people were seeing faster HD speeds; with APPS booting up from the clone than they had seen with the internal HD. The cloning applications in cloning the drive defragments the data to the clone and remove the “holes” in the cloning process.
With a small portable HD clone you can take your ‘computer’ anywhere to most any other current Mac and boot from your HD clone and have your entire system and its data immediately there for use. In case one is across the world and their macbook gets stolen, or damaged, with another Mac you can be up and 100% in the time it takes to boot to the new or borrowed Mac!
You can clone from your external clone to the internal HD/SSD in case of corruption.
The best thing that can be said, ideally, when your HD crashes with all its data is “so what, I’ve got a clone right here” and you can return to normal operation within seconds (by booting from the clone) or minutes (by swapping drives).
In separating out your system hub (OS) and your data hub, and storing them separately, is if you make only periodic clones (every month or so), and have a HD crash, the worst case outcome is that what is lost on your clone are some bookmarks and preferences since your data hub containing your vital files is constantly archived separately as it should be.

How to register iOS device when using self signed certificate with apple Server?

I have installed the server.app by Apple and used a slef signed certificate for my server. Now I want to register my different devices (iMac, iPhone etc.). I could register the iMac without problesm (I just had to add my self signed certificate to the trusted certificates)
Sadly, with the iPhone it is not that easy. I can install the "trust profile", but still after that I can not register my device. It seems like it does not accept my self signed certificate for device registration. When adding a registration profile, I get the error "www._mydomain_.tld/devicemanagement/api/device/auto_join_ota_service" is not valid.
Nethertheless, I can install a profile with setting, e.g. my imap settings, via the profile management without problems.
Does anyone have an idea how to get around the problem with the self signed certificate?

Try deleting the Server.app and download it again from the App Store, restart.
My Server is also using self signed certificates and is working with iOS device (Trust Profile needed first).

Yahoo sent mail not saved to server when using Mail only.

Why does my Yahoo sent mail not get saved to the server when I use Apple's Mail program? (I have it saved in settings to keep sent mail on server). I can see it in my Sent mail folder on Apple Mail but not on the yahoo server. It's an IMAP account and it works fine on my iPhone.
I have tried changing the outgoing ports as well and erasing the account and reinstating it on the Mail program. No luck.

I finally figured out how to fix this; under the mailbox menu there is an option to "use this mailbox for" that allowed me to select the Sent Items folder from my Yahoo IMAP list of folders and make it the default for sent items from the Mac OS X mail software! "

Session data is not unique when using SYS_CONTEXT in web service applicatio

Hi, I am using DBMS_SESSION.SET_CONTEXT in my web service application to set session variables which--according to the documentation, if I understand it correctly-- are supposed to be unique to each session. But if I change the variables from a browser on one client machine, I can then see the changes when I connect from a browser on another client machine. Do all calls to my web service connect to the database as the same session? What happens when multiple clients are connected? I also use global temporary tables in my application. My assumption was that each client that connected would have a unique session. But this doesn't appear to be the case?...or is there something I am missing?

This has been logged as a bug and was upgraded to severe in March, but nothing has been done on it as far as I am aware. Beware this bug also affects global temporary tables--the same session and everything related to --including session context variables and global temp tables are shared by every call to the web service.
