Is Designer part of Workbench?

We have Adobe LiveCycle Designer 8.0 installed (came with Adobe Acrobat 8.0 Professional) on our PC. We also have Adobe LiveCycle WorkBench installed on our PC. When we tried to create/open a pdf/xdp file from WorkBench, we got "Incompatible LiveCycle Designer Version" error message.
It looks like the workbench uses the Designer coming with Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional (the version is 8.0, doesn't matter whether it's running or not. So we tried to upgrade it. And the upgrade ran successfully, but only upgraded the acrobat to version 8.1 and left the designer still at version 8.0. Later, we tried to understall the Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro to try make the workbench to use the designer in itself...but got the error of "Unable to create this part due to an internal error. Reason for the failure: Class ID not found in registry result = -2147221005" (please see below). We're not sure if workbench has designer built in or it relies on the Designer that has to be installed seperately...because we made a fresh install of the workbench on a clean PC without installing Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro, and got the same error as below. So it comes with the question: is there a designer embeded in the workbench itself?

There is no information about LiveCycle Designer as part of Acrobat in this Cloud-Suite.
So I hope someone out there tried and installed it from CREATIVE CLOUD.

Is Web Design part of a government experiment to see what it takes to drive a person crazy? I did a simple Flash portfolio for my business website that has some simple go-to-frame interactivity via code snippets. Everything was fine until I looked at it in Firefox. Firefox indicated an ActionScript error, rendering some buttons inoperative. Flash didn't indicate any errors. I tore apart the FLA for a few hours and determined that the error would occur only when buttons would go to a blank keyframe where the instance no longer existed. I determined that no more time should be spent troubleshooting this, so I removed some of the offending interactivity and moved the obnoxious FLA files to another folder. I uploaded the new swf with the reduced interactivity for my site and the next day just for kicks, I re-opened the original offending FLA and publish-previewed it. This time in Firefox there were no errors!!!. So... I reworked this file, gave it some refined interactivity that is better than the original one that gave the ActionScript errors. Now everything is uploaded and dandy, but I'm still scratching my head wondering what happened.

When you click on New -> web intelligence document -> It should display list of all the available universes -> Select any one among them.
You can choose efashion universe which is a sample universe that comes with BusinessObjects Enterprise installation.
If you are not getting anything in the list of universes, then probably the samples were not installed properly.
You can check if you have any sample universe on the machine or not. Open the drive where you have installed and you get the installed list of sample universes in the below path:
BusinessObjects\Program Files\BusinessObjects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 11\Samples\en\Universes

Sorry for this not being helpful, but if there ever was a stronger argument for not using NetBeans generated code, for learning to code Swing from the ground up, I'd like to see it.
To the OP, this is not so much a Swing question as a NetBeans question. I recommend that you find a NetBeans forum or mail list, rephrase your question for clarity, and repost it there. Good luck.

I've now read on your subject what you meant by fundamentals +(if all else fails read the original posters question)+.. ie 9i DBA OCA and 9i DBA OCP .... no for you forget those and and follow the link to the Pl/SQL developer track ....

Exam order is not important, but you dont get certificates unless pre-requisites all met. The is an interesting cheap beta exam arround at present if you are up for it ... 1z0-144

I recently completed my PL/SQL exam. I hope you have taken a course on that. Oracle Courseware is the best to prepare for the exam. THere are unscored questions on that.
There aree lot of questions on procedures,functions,subprograms,packages,lobs, trggers and depedencies.
You need to clearly understand the difference between package specification and package body, where you need to use subprograms, the difference between row level trigger and statement level trigger, Directory Object used to create Lob, UTl, Dependencies, how to invoke procedures and functions.

You'll have to build your own VM, or just use any workstation as a Peoplesoft client to run AppDesigner.

Using Adobe form designer in ABAP Workbench

Hi,
I am trying to do a POC on PDF generations from ABAP workbench( not from Net weaver developer studio) .
Right now when I go into SFP transaction and clcik on layout tab it gives me error saying 'Error occured in communicating with layout editor' . i am thinking this may be because of i dont have Adobe form designer on my machine. Is it needs to be installed on sever or each machine.
Can anyone guide me on how to start.

The designer is required, but it is included with the SAPGui 640 (if you choose it in the installation). If you are on SP12 or higher you need an update to the designer that doesn't come with the SAPGui (Designer 7.0). You can download this by itself from the Service Marketplace. There is an OSS note with install instructions. You do have to remove any old versions before you install the new one.

Integrate Adobe Designer with ABAP Workbench WEB AS 6.2

I believe Adobe designer integration works from WEB AS 6.40. I read in someother post, its possible with older version too. is it true?.If so, we have WEB AS 6.2. I downloaded Adobe Designer 6.0.2,Do i need to configure to integrate or will it be automatically configured once i download the Designer .
I am trying to develop PDF forms using SAP Help but I dont see the Adobe components in the Form Builder.
Please help me understand.

Hi Sujatha,
SAP PDF-based forms technology (i.e. SAP Interactive Forms technology) is similar to SAP SAP Smart Forms technology. The form has a layout part and interface part. Generated form is a generated function module. The difference is that you need additionally ADS for PDF-based forms in runtime.
Printing program is calling generated function module of the form and sending printing data via interface of the function module. You can prepare printing data via local call (select, function module, local method etc.) or via RFC call to back-end system.
There is one disadvantage of RFC only: to create form interface in the design phase you need all used data types locally. Using SAP WebAS 6.40 without any application and R/3 Enterprise back-end for instance you miss some data types in SAP WebAS 6.40 and you have to create/import them there.

I am using SFP transaction to creation of Adobe forms .I am doing it for the first time . I just got front end installed with adobe livecycle . should i do anything more to get the designer in the layout tab of SFP transaction .
I am currently getting a error sapofficeintegration trace 141 .. I have not configured ADS is this because of this .

I will suggest you to have Adobe Reader >7
SAP GUI with patchlevel >18.
ADLCD >= 7.
Even you dont have ADS you must be able to see ADLCD in SFP. but you wont be able to activate ya get the output.
if you have properly copied the ADLCD seperatley into the Adobe Folder. while clicking the layout tab. open the ADLCD seperately. see if it gets opened.
or design it in ADLCD and import and export the xdp through fb_xdp_down and fb_xdp_up transactions.

Query on designing part

In my scenario,my IDOC is having several segments.Each segment is having same fields,say FieldA,FieldB.
I want to do in mapping in such a way that whenever the value of FieldA is 'Customer',I want to retrieve the corresponding value of FieldB and pass it to the target .
Similarly,when the Value of fieldA is 'Vendor',I want to retrieve the corresponding value of FieldB and pass it to the target .
Here,the IDOC may have 7-8 segments and each segment will have two fields and these fields may contain any value.But,I would like to pass the corresponding values of only those segments which contain 'Customer' and 'Vendor' which is coming as first instance to my target.
My required value 'Customer' and 'vendor' may occur in any of the segements.
Please give your ideas on how to do designing of this scenario.it would be great if I can get some screenshots .

HI Alex,
First thing that you could do this with Graphical mapping No Need of BPM the given UDF will 100% fulfiill your requirment.
In Graphical mapping at left most-bottom corner you will get an icon to create the UDF.
Click on it and give some name to it as TestUdf with proper description.
Then click on add button to add import fields and give the name as filedA, filedB.
Select the check box for cache parameter as "Queue" and save it.
It will open one editor to write Java code.
Copy the code mentioned in my above post and then in Graphical mapping API List select User Defined function as you did for other APIs such as Text, Date etc.
You will get the API TestUdf and drag it for mapping.
It will ask for the input parameters which you need to map it fieldA and fieldB,
Then map response with target element.
For Target end if you are expecting the value from FiledA then pass FieldA two times or else FieldA and FieldB as import parameters

Need Suggestion on the Design of a New Workbench

Hi All,
I need a suggestion on the design of agreement workbench..
The requirement goes this way...
We will have workbench main screen, where header and line details will be entered manually ( or sourced from legacy system). On the main screen, there will be few buttons, clicking upon which will open the subforms (around 6-8 screens) or supporting details (the data can be entered or interfaced).
We have two approaches.
1. Keeping everyithing in a single .fmb file
2. Creating one .fmb file for the main screen and different .fmb files for each of the individual screens and calling them from the main screen.
Please suggest the best approach considering all the factors like maintanance, user friendlyness, switching b/w the main and child forms and all other possible factors which can make difference.

This time I want you guys to through some light on designing, what should be the approach to solve any problem at hand.
Now a days J2EE applications are following more and more model
driven architectures (Please correct me if i am wrong) which means the developers no need to write much code, so that they concentrate only
on business logic and all the other code is generated automatically. Many companies are building such frameworks to generate the code automatically to make development time less.
Here at this point like me developers are more and more are getting
opportunities to involve in designing part. Most of the interviewers are
also thinking that knowing a bit of UML is enough to do the designing.
But that is not the reality. Here i am confused (not only me, I guess all
who are young into development) like how to approach to solve a
problem. How to start the design for a problem after analysing?
1) Analyse
2) Identify the complexities
3) Identify the reusable components
4) Start designing the interfaces
i am not sure what might be the best way..
Please post your comments on this for the good of young developers like me.

Help with Motion Tweens and Designing

So we are basically trying to design part of a website
and we want to have the whole alphabet at the top of the page then we want like one letter to shake
and then fall into a funnel which we want to be in the middle of the page then another letter shakes, then two at a time, the three at a time and after that all the letters fall in.
After that we want the letters to fall out and form and sentence, a few sentences.
That's basically all that was thought about, and we are new to flash so we were looking for any tips, or any help to actually do this
we were trying to mess wit the motion tween but we never figured out how to make it shake how we want it to, so any help will be appreciated.

Creating forms in Workbench

I am fairly new to LiveCycle Workbench ES so this might sound like a dumb question. But, is it better to create my Adobe forms in LiveCycle Designer first and then bring them into LiveCycle Workbench ES? or is it best to start the whole process using WorkBench ES only?
The reason I am asking is because I use a custom template for all of my interactive Adobe forms. I have not found a way to apply that custom template to a form if I create it in Workbench. So what I have been doing instead is creating the form in LiveCycle Designer and then bringing it into LiveCycle Workbench by simply dragging and dropping. I then use WorkBench just to build my processes for that form. Is this a good way to do it?

The end result will be the same: an XDP within an application.
If you use the Designer embedded in Workbench, then you'll get some advantages, like versionning, it'll check-out the file automatically for you, you can access resources (images, fragments) from within the application,etc.
However, there's nothing wrong in using the stand alone Designer dragging the file manually.
We're just trying to keep the developer in the same development environment as much as possible.
