Is "diverging interaction" possible?

I have started creating a presentation in Motion with the intention of taking into Flash for the interactive part, but it's taking a long time. Most of the presentation could be set out in Keynote, but there's a point where I want to offer 4 options, each accessed by a keystroke (A, E, I, U) in other words diverging or branching. Is this possible in keynote, or if not then a less suitable option would be several buttons accessed by mouse? Any feedback appreciated as I'm on the clock ;-( Thanks, Chris

ICal web interactivity possible?

My virtual assistant uses a PC and we want to have a system that is efficient and reliable for her to make appointments that appear on my calendar without my having to input them.
Does anyone know of third party opportunities we can use instead of her sending me Outlook notifications? Ideally we'd like a web based tool that we can both interact with (edit, post, delete, etc.)

Well, I figured the only way to find out was to try it!
I enabled the Exchange calendar, which wiped my existing calendar from the phone. Making sure I had a backup of my iCal calendar, I connected the phone to my Mac, and started a synch off in iTunes to see if my iCal calendar would get added back to it.
No joy. It just didn't synch iCal at all, and iTunes wouldn't let me - it just said that I was getting calendar data from Exchange, so it looks like (for the current 2.0 firmware at any rate) it's just not possible. If anyone from Apple is reading, adding support for multiple calendars would be an awesome feature - please ?
Oh well. Back to iCal then - I'd rather be reminded about fun things like birthdays and parties than the next meeting at work on Monday

BPM: is manual interaction possible in BPM?

i would like to design a BPM, in such a way that in between my BPM should interact with another Application to get approval ( like manager approval).
How can i design my BPM steps for that particular type of Business processes?

I feel it should work in PI7.0 also.
In your Application make a http post on the sender interface which is waiting for the approval. If your correlation is set correctly and it is designed appropriately, it may work.

System freezes (no more interaction possible)

I'm running ArchLinux with KDE (standard installation) since 6 days and had 5 freezes in the meantime.
The whole system just freezes (no more mouse/keyboard). I installed ArchLinux on a btrfs-root and have
the latest updates installed.
Could you pls. describe how to debug the issue? Is there any special log file?
/var/log/Xorg.0.log does only contain information entries (I checked it with KSystemLog) also Kernel log (/bin/dmesg) is
errorless.
Any ideas? There is not reproducable situation where I can see any correlation.

so i moved to opensuse on the other partition and as i tumbleweeded it to kernel 3.9.6, mesa 9, Xorg?? etc i experienced same problem (scrolling??/switching tabs in terminal killed the box) - it feels like problem happens on scrolling (but cant be 100% sure) - i noticed below in .xsession_errors log after restart (this is opensuse with kde) - so this is certailny not arch only related issue (also could be my ageing hardware but then why would other people experience similar, hmm)

Is this interactive flash movie possible in Adobe Edge?

Is it possible to create this exactly the same in adobe edge? If you click on a hotspot, then a 3d-video (this video is already done in a 3d-animation-software) with a transparent background appears over the car-layer and on click to "back" it softly disapears.
(For this online version, I´ve just put a compressed video into "Gasoline & Diesel system". Normally, every hotspot has a different video.
So, are those interactions possible in Edge?

Everything except for the alpha transparency video is easily doable in Edge.
Rather then trying to shoehorn html5 video with an alpha transparency into Edge (not sure if this is doable), you could potentially use a png sequence or spriteSheet to play back those animations. Though the file size will be very large, and Edge does not have native implementation for png sequences or spriteSheet playback. yet.

Are in-app forms possible?

I am creating an app that has a short form (all text fields). The form will submit via email, no database involved.
I know I can create a web form and display the page within a frame, or call up a URL with a form, but I wonder if there is a way I can create the interactive form within the app. There are no tools in the overlay panel that I can see doing this.
I tried creating a form in InDesign, exporting as an interactive PDF, and bringing it back into the document, but it lacks interactivity when imported (the PDF does function fine within Acrobat as expected, however). Also tried skipping the PDF export and adding my InDesign form pages directly to the folio as an article. No luck there, either.
Am I missing something, or can this not be done? If not, it would seem to be a really useful addition to the overlay panel's capabilities.

What would be cool is an in-app PDF reader that can handle forms. Is any interactivity possible with a PDF form accessed via an HTMLResources file?

EHP4 Lean Sales Order Web Dynpro - Global ATP interaction

We are currently looking to use the Lean Sales Order interface Web Dynpro in ECC EHP4 and have a question about how it integrates with Global ATP.
If SAP standard VA01 is used, the user is presented with an APO Availability check screen which allows them to make a decision about where the product can be sourced from.
Please could you tell me if there is any such user interaction possible with the Lean Order Web Dynpro in EHP4? Or is the user interaction limited to changing the schedule line dates + asking for partial or full delivery.

Right click on the field and select->Technical settings->you can find the component configuration under current view section. Navigate to configuration and you can choose field and click on attributes button on menu. there you can change values. else find feeder class in general settings. Go to feeder class and method "Get_Definition". here also you can change attributes.

I have a simple question, or maybe not so simple
A user takes a test with 5 random questions 10 points each
I want to be able to jump to a specific page or show a specific button if result is above a specific % or if user has completed/passed the test or if is more than a certain points.
But how, how can I get the result from the quiz.
Can I get the current result when the user is on question 3 of 5
(if 81% is what you need to pass the test then if you have 20% fail there is no need to take more questions.)
Which are all the variables associated with quizzes
Which other variables can you use
How can you depending on a if/else question change
* Visibility of objects such as buttons and so on
* Path of presentation
* Motion properties of an effect
* Speed of an motion
* Height of an object
An example of what I want...
I have a start page with 5 image buttons.
Each button is a link to a some slides E.G.
Read about the sun, moon, water, air or earth
When pressing the moon button I get to some moon pages and on the last one I jump back to the start page
When viewing the moon pages i presume that captivate logs that, and that I should be able to some how extract that information.
When back on the start page I want to change the image symbol on the moon button from a moon to a moon with a green check mark. (this chapter is read)

Can't install a stable Windows 7 on my Snow Leopard mid-2009 Macbook Pro via Botcamp

I just erased the whole disk with Disk Utility and re-installed a fresh version of Snow Leopard on my mid-2009 MacBook Pro with my original install disk and updated all the software.
I then created a 400GB partition via Bootcamp Assistant for Windows and successfully installed Vista.
I then successfully installed Windows 7 (not an upgrade) over Vista (I only have the official upgrade disk) and installed Bootcamp in Windows with the original OS X DVD.
I then upgraded Bootcamp from version 3.0 to 3.1 to 3.2 to 3.3 and then to 4.0.
None of these versions have resulted in a stable version of Windows 7 because the screen randomly turns one color (usually blue or white) with no cursor or interaction possible and I have to shut the computer down by holding the power button.
I've tried the whole process with 32 bit and 64 bit versions with the same results. The funny thing (not so funny, really) is that WIndows becomes increasingly unstable the higher I go with Bootcamp. I've even tried running the Vista to Windows 7 upgrade utility but Windows 7 is totally unusable. Once at Bootcamp 4 the system can't even get past the windows boot process.
I'm pulling my hair out here because I can't think of anything else to try. I'm suspecting the problem is driver related.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I suggest you start over with the install of Windows. You can use an Upgrade version of Win 7 to do a Clean install.
Basically you have to Not put in the license key when asked and also uncheck the option to Auto Activate Windows when the system gets online, mThen once it is installed and you are at the desktop go to the System applet in Control panel and Select Activate Windows. Then put the license key in.
If for some reason that doesn't work then you do a second install of Windows7 over the top of the current install and that make the installer think you are Upgrading and the Activation will go through.

A calculation intensive GUI application

Hi all,
I am developing a GUI application that involves drawing of a graph layout, with nodes and links..
i get through the graph drawing part and I lay out the nodes and edges correctly. My real concerns are adding the user interactions to this graph drawing.
I want to allow the user to drag nodes around the panel, be able to track which node they are visiting or which edge the mouse is currently present on. Also on selecting a particular node I wish that all the others are drawn in gray.
My thoughts are to provide the user with a toolbar, that will have buttons for each of the interaction possible, Hide, Gray, Reorder, etc.. also I need to locate where the mouse pointer is. So for that I provide a panel and as the mouse moves over each line, i populate a label in one of the bottom panels.
I am presently locating that the mouse is on a particular edge / node by simply iterating through the vector and using a contains (Point p ) test. But this is really intensive as my application has 1000s of edges. So everytime the mouse moves, I have to check for most of them to determine which node/edge is the mouse over.
I have to do the same computations when the mouse is clicked as i will be selected a particular node/edge on a mouse click.
Will the command pattern be helpful in my case, I can represent each of the interactions as a command?
How can I make my application efficient and not check through the entire 1000s of elements to determine where the mouse is ? ( i do break out once i find a match but that is still ridiculous)
Will SwingInvoker be of any help ? I do need the return value so dispatching the event to a separate thread might not really help as I have to wait for the computation to complete..
lastly are there classic tutorials / design pattern examples for such applications where there is a lot of interactivity with the drawn components?

Your greatest asset in this situation is probably going to be the LabVIEW examples. Go to the help menu, look for the examples, and just start searching. You may have to look at a few examples to find all of the elements you need.
Once you have gone through those, just post here if you have any more questions.

APK Version Conflict with 30.1 Android Viewer

Hi,
I've updated yesterday our Android apps to the 30.1 viewer. But when I try to publish on the Google Play Store, I get the error that the APK version must be higher than the published version.
Of course, I tested before with a local install and it are the new 30.1 viewers as the PDF scrolls and image sequences are working.
Then, I rechanged the version in the online App Builder to a new major number (now 2.0.0 in place of 1.0.x) as also the upgrade number to a higher value than indicated (upgrade 13 in this case). But no, nothing changed and the APK can't be published. Additionally, even if I have put 2.0.0 into the version fields, the builder adds automatically one sub version and created 2.0.1. It does this for all apps. the sub version is always two versions higher (if before: 1.0.14 --> after edit: 1.0.16, ...).

Correct, and it was a huge problem. We received, on average, one escalated support request per week where we had to manually go in and change the upgrade code field for people migrating from other platforms. The new web client now gives direct control over this to the person that should have direct control over it: you.
"The v30.1 online builder only adds a 1-2 digit code to the upgrade value automatically (just tested), so the user now needs to always activate the "Override the app version number" and change the upgrade number manualy to its 7-8 digit version (to do everytime you edit the app)."
The learn more link directly above this field has a complete help topic that outlines how to make the upgrade code work with a previously submitted app created with the desktop client. It also explains how once you have done it once we remember what you put in and will auto-increment from there on future builds. This works properly, I just ran through and made three builds of a test app. For the first I checked the box and set the version code to 1000. For the next two builds I left the box unchecked and the version code auto-incremented to 1002, 1003, etc..

This is a bug introduced in the UI on Monday that we are addressing in a release scheduled for about two hours from now. Note that it is just a UI issue, under the covers the correct account is still being used to create your app.

Credentials for In-Browser Editing in Business-Catalyst

IN-BROWSER-EDITING is a really cool service, but it seems there’s one quite critical point to this.
Sharing the test-site means for me, communicating the url to someone, so he can have a look at the actual site via, e. g.: myproject.businesscatalyst.com/ or even on my own server, e. g. www.myproject.com/ with no further interaction possibility.
But I’d like to open the gate for the client to edit texts by himself, as shown in Dani Beaumont’s video “Katie’s Café” / www.katiesbakerycafe.com. Here’s the clip :

Now, if I host the site on my own server, things are quite clear: I’ll set up a separated ftp access for my client.
But if I host the site on Business Catalyst, things don’t look so clear anymore.
Katie would like to edit Details like her daily specials and things like photos of her bakery items. Therefor, so she needs to log-into the site administration. I was chatting with the MUSE-Support this morning and they suggested I should share my credentials to the client (Katie) so she can log-into the project and edit things online. Hmm…
But I don’t think Dani Beaumont, like me, would like to share her Adobe-Product-Manager’s credentials with Katie. Would she?
Support: Yes, you can share the url but for editing you have to share the credentials
Me: And Tom’s Sandwich over the road wouldn’t like Katie to have access to his projects-files Dani is also working on.
I can’t really believe Adobe is suggesting us to share our own credentials, i. e. working with and even producing such a massive security issue in Creative Cloud. I hope not. Well, actually I think I missed something. Or didn’t I?

Hi,
Rather than sharing your credentials, you'll want to add "Katie" as a user of the Business Catalyst site. There is a direct link to "Add In-Browser Editing Users" in the dialog that shows up after Publish completes.
The same page can be accessed by selecting the File > Manage Business Catalyst Site menu in Muse, and then (in the Business Catalyst page that opens in the browser) selecting Site Settings > Admin Users.

I want to have an accodion with the category name on the tab,
and the corresponding tests inside. I tried before to have the
tests nested inside the categories in one xml file, but I didn't
get much success in trying to fetch data from it in the way I
intend. I thought having two files would make it easyer to "link"
them on the categID and move through the data together. As in
database relations... but I can't seem to be able to do it right.
The result I get is that I get all the tests in all the tabs, all
tabs open. I have 120 tests so it takes a bit of time... And the
accordion doesn't function well. Here's some of the code (I tried a
few things to try to synch the 2 datasets with no success, so the
code here has no such code):

I get the tabs and content panels populated the way I want
it. However, the accordeon still doesn't work (all panels open,
clicking doesn't do anything). I noticed that If I take a simple
accordeon (with content hardcoded), and surround it with a region
div tag, the same thing happens, all panels open, and no
interaction possible.
So I have 2 questions now:
1- Why is the accordion not functionning properlly ?
2- It takes a while to populate my accordion (basically the
code has to go through 120 records 14 times to populate). In a true
Ajaxian philosophy, I wonder how I could populate just a tab at a
time (but still have all the tabs - the headings). Starting with
the first, then when a tab is clicked, it gets populated (with a
little "loading" appears), then opens. No reason to re-populate a
tab that has been, so I would need to keep track of that. I guess
it would answer a lot of my questions if I would know How I can use
the var I create with my 'var accteste = new
Spry.Widget.Accordion("Categories");'.

Outputting from Premier Pro as DVD and mp4 or similar

Hi,
Currently have CS4 on windows 7 64bit and it is used to edit videos to DVD format for clients, but the archive of DVD files are taking up to much storage space so is it possible to output the files to DVD format which we can delete once the DVD is burnt and also to mp4 or avi or a similar compressed format in the same process?
I know after the event I can compress DVD files to divx etc but i am tryign to find the method that requires the least user interaction possible.

CS4 does not have a queue and export button, like you said just OK and cancel.
If you want dvd format you select mpeg2-dvd with multiplexing on (this is for archiving)
If you want mp4 you select H.264.
Not sure if CS4 will do avi with the divx codec.
Hit OK and the media encoder will open and hit OK for rendering.
